Opinions de Louie's Original San Francisco
I was was in San Francisco and looking for something to eat and this place popped up and thank Jesus it did ..there burgers are amazing I'm still dreaming about the moment I took the first bite when I come back San Francisco I'm definitely going to come here again Keep up the good work
I go here anytime I am craving burger, fries or chicken strips. It is the best place in the area to get them. Their chicken strips are the best I've ever had. I also recently had an issue where my order unfortunately did not survive the trip back to where I work, like 10 minute walk away, because it was raining and my umbrella was not enough to keep the bag from getting soggy. Bag ripped and lost half my lunch. When I reached out the manager was kind enough to help me out and replace the order a few days later which I really appreciated. Really good vibes and I'll absolutely be going back again!
Burgers were good, maybe a little too 'wet' for my taste, but honestly the real stars were the onion rings and chicken tenders. Both were quite flavorful and crispy. I feel the prices were fair. Nice low key atmosphere, and not at all busy on a weekday afternoon. Highly recommend going here on a slow day as it's a nice vibe. Service was super accommodating and friendly (cashier was very kind), however I felt our server was pushing too hard to get tipped as he kept mentioning the fact that "tip was already included in the bill but it's optional to give an additional tip" to an almost comically aggressive degree.
Fried chicken sandwich is outstanding. Best I've had in my life. I bet they could get a michelin star for the chicken sandwich if they tried. Burger is good. Though, there are a lot of good burgers in the area, so I wasn't impressed. I'd definitely recommend the chicken over the burger any day.
Surprised at some of the negative reviews. You can dismiss the ones focused on the no longer existent service charge, they have addressed that. I found the service incredibly friendly and helpful. Burger, fried chicken sandwich, onion rings and shakes were tasty and filling, the cost was absolutely fair. Loved the Zuni style picked zucchini and onions on the burger. Great atmosphere. Oh, and next door to magic Donuts, which is a plus. I mean if you are already going for your daily caloric intake, throw in a delicious donut.
One of my favorite breakfast places, which i'm so fortunate to live walking distance away. This is one of those family operated establishments that makes San Francisco so amazing.
We live nearby and after a year of saying we are going to try, we finally stopped by. I had low expectations given all the reviews but I disagree with all the negative reviews. A solid burger with bread and butter pickles on a brioche bun, yummy fries and beer battered onion rings….amazing. We did take away but excited to go back and eat a burger there and pair with Dashe zin wine!!! So cool they have local wines! We will be back soon!
Super solid burger and fresh onion rings. I’ve had the Spruce burger and this is a pretty decent version of it for half the price.
This burger blew me away! It’s easily one of the best I’ve ever had. The flavors really linger in your mouth. I hope this place stays open forever because I can’t wait to go back again! 🤟🏻🤩🤩
Louie's is located in a nice quiet neighborhood. They were not crowded so there was no wait to order or for a table. The burger was tasty and a good size for the price. They did put pickles on it even though I asked for it with out them. The waffle fries, made messy, were very good though I'm not sure it was worth the extra $4. Overall, highly recommend. P.S. they do have a rather small menu.
Since I can remember as a child hamburgers have been my favorite food, so one could say that my standards are higher than the average critic. The Loui double patty burger was one of the best tasting burgers I have ever had the pleasure to glutton...that's right, I said it...gluttony is the only way to describe how I devoured this burger. I actually slowed down just to make it last longer and savor each bite. Thank you LO team! From the bottom of my stomach, thank you.
Small but simple, clean and comfortable. Staff looks happy, they are friendly and food was delicious. Soft brioche bun, juicy hamburger patty with fresh veggies served with waffle fries. Cooked to order. I would go back!
The new Dubai Chocolate Milkshake is real BANGER! I already started playing my next visit to tray the Big Sister burger as well!
November 2025: Came back and tried the double and a single again. Both were great 👍. I think the single was perfect too. Depends on how much meat you are in the mood for. Keeping at five star ✨. May 2024: Came here for lunch and shared the single burger and the chicken nuggets. Both were tasty. I think the single burger patty had a little too much bun to meat ratio and would get the double burger 🍔 next time. The nuggets were tasty and came with a mustard sauce. I preferred eating this with ketchup instead. But that's because I like ketchup! 😀
The big Louie was a great premium smash burger on a fluffy bun and perfect toppings. Banana foster milkshake was really good. I’d been thinking about it since I first saw pictures of it online and it lived up to my expectations. The chicken tenders were fine. A little under seasoned and the way they are served seemed to cause the bottom ones to get soggy by the time they were cool enough to eat. The other thing that really caught me by surprise was how good their ranch was. I didn’t even ask fit it, but I’ll definitely next time. Such good strong dill flavor. I’d dip everything in it.
Ordered the Big Louie, sweet potato and regular fries. All were great. Service was friendly and attentive.. The milkshake I got could've been a little bit thicker but would def eat here again 👍 Oh and playing 90s rap in the restaurant didn't hurt either 😎
The $17 deal for a big Louie combo was worth it. One of the better burgers in the city. Chicken sandwich was moist and tasted good. Good waffle fries and onion rings. Only gripe is a can of coke was $4.

I needed a burger fast. What a surprise how substantial it was, and it was excellent meat and flavors on a brioche bun.
Louie's does what it sets out to do really well: a small, delivery-friendly menu paired with a well-executed brand around its burgers. For its in-restaurant patrons, they offer a small selection of well-regarded, local craft beers. The smash burgers burgers are well-priced ($8 at the lower end and $11 fro a double) and very in-vogue in SF. There are three options for sides: classic fries, waffle fries, and onion rings - all priced at $6 and interchangeable as part of its combo menu. I've ordered from this place more than i'd like to admit on delivery services and have just eaten at the restaurant for the first time this afternoon. Very consistent, very good. What's more, it's across the street from a park where there's ample street parking -- not a small feat for an SF eatery!
I love burgers and this place is so good. Made to order cheeseburger, no frills menu, just fresh, delicious ingredients. Customer service fast amd efficient. Seating is comfortable and inviting. I discovered this place due to its close proximity to SF General since I am waiting for my nephew to undergo minor surgery. Driving to here was only 5 minutes from the hospital and there's ample free street parking!
Great burger! Love the use of bread and butter chips as opposed to dill pickles. Had the "messy" fries, very flavorful! The soft serve frozen custard was probably the best I've had 💯🔥
What a great place for a burger, and really good ones to boot. Super friendly staff, fast & professional service and great tasting food at really reasonable prices. I was only visiting in town but if I come back I def wanna come here again. I even bought their cool tshirt!
The most insanely fantastic milkshakes- especially the banana cream pie. The burgers are also top tier and honestly so good if you’re craving an old school classic greasy burger that makes your soul feel full.

We love Jada~~ She was so attentive. Gave us great recs and even checked in frequently to make sure everything was to our liking! I do believe she worked in La Connessa right next to here so perhaps the mobility among staff is great?!!! Kudos! Onions rings have such an Interesting flavour. Apparently they use a by product of beer to use as coating batter? It definitely elevate it in my opinion~
I felt like a youth on a date with my lovely wife...with grandbaby in tow. The atmosphere was family oriented mom's dad's and single people. The TV's had sports on. The music was my favorite 1970's jam. I would have danced on the table if my true jam would have slapped (PYT). NOW those burgers, fries and chocolate shake. We had the Louie no cheese, Louie ll and big sister. The patty was grilled kissed, moist and cooked with no pink. Fries plentiful and not overly salted. I'll be pushing my way in again, again and again.
Service was good. Wait staff was attentive and polite. Food was ok. Burger was very greasy and lacking in toppings, taste was fine but nothing to write home about. Next time I’d stick with a single patty. Onion rings were also pretty greasy which made them soggy, but they tasted pretty good. I did only get like 5 rings which seems pretty lacking for the price. I don’t think this would be a regular in my lineup, but I wouldn’t veto it if someone wanted to go.
Came here a few days after their grand opening and it was very busy. Restaurant options next to Jackson playground have been non-existent so this is a great addition along with their donut shop and Italian restaurants next door. The staff was very friendly. Especially difficult when you just opened and are training staff. The food was good but needs to be dialed in a bit. The fries and onion rings could use a longer fry time and needed salt/seasoning. I would say the burger patties could also benefit from some seasoning. Not sure if both were due to the staff forgetting or that's their recipe. But we'll definitely come back and wish them all the success.
Food was ok..my grandson loved his burger and fries.. My veggie burger was just ok.. onion rings very good . Very very loud because of extremely loud music
I really like having this burger place in our neighborhood. There are a couple things missing that would make this place 5 stars. Ranch dressing to add on for chicken tenders and fries, an option to buy just the cheese sauce for the fries without all the overwhelming “messy” toppings, a grilled chicken sandwich, a salad with grilled chicken, and lastly a smaller bun on the little Louie (it’s just too much bread). Service is great and takeout orders are fast!
Would not recommend the onion rings - the most bland I’ve ever had. The coating is interesting, overall tastes like a fried whole wheat bread. The burgers were good but patties are over cooked and could be better seasoned. Wish there was tomatoes to balance it out too. But still happy for the addition of a fancy-ish but still chill burger place in the neighborhood! Guess our expectations were just high as it’s a Michelin-starred team that’s behind it.
Friends took me to this local hole in the wall burger joint near their office in Potrero Hill Here’s what I got: Little Louie Burger – Classic and solid. Brioche bun, juicy patty, crisp lettuce, and pickles. No frills, just a good ol’ fashioned burger. Make ’Em Messy Fries – The highlight. Drenched in pepper jack cheese sauce, roasted onions, jalapeños, lime crema, cotija, and green onions. Flavor bomb. Heavy enough to knock me into a food coma. (Didn’t try it, but my friend claimed the milkshake was “the best they’ve ever had.” High praise.) Come hungry. Leave full (and possibly horizontal).

Arrived early during a weekday. Delicious burgers were bigger than I thought. Fries were crispy. But the star was the Banana Cream Pie milkshake. Absolutely delicious.
I was so excited when Louis's Original opened. But i end up disappointed with the food i order. I ordered a big Louie's burger and sweet potato fries. The burger is too salted and i can't believe my sweet potato fries is cool, not even warm when i got it. Anyway, the service is very nice. At least I will be back for this reason.
I had the Big Loui. It was okay, but it was overcooked. The fries were OK, too. The onion rings were below average. They were tasty but not crispy. Soggy! In quality and price, it's difficult to beat a Double Double In-n-Out burger.
VERY very simple menu. For the price I would have expected more. Don't get me wrong the burger and waffle fries where really good. Obviously it's a simple fancyish place in SF where businesses people or social media/selfie opportunities people go.
Service was great and the custard style ice cream was amazing. My lunch guest called the big sister burger average. The messy cut fries were bland and the chicken tenders were quite good but 3 pieces for $15 with a poor runny Honey Mustard sauce not worth a repeat. The Monk Pilsner was very good and the shakes looked superb. Next time we will go for a shake and skip the meal.
The fries and milkshake were good. Everything else was not so good. The cheeseburger was flavorless. The meat patties were not smashed evenly making the burger difficult to eat. Our server was nice but had to be reminded twice about missing items in our order.
This place is a pass for me. I’ve had better burgers at In-N-Out. Heck, Super Duper and Beeps would beat this place. The burger lacked seasoning and the brioche buns had a tough “skin” on top that made it not soft but kind of chewy. We had to add salt to our burger. The onion rings were greasy and over cooked. The waffle fries messy style were good. The milkshake was too soft and the custard cone was a weirdly slick texture. That plus a bottle of ice tea and a glass of wine set us back $100.
eta: That's nice customer service in the reply, for sure. With plenty of burger options out there, this one didn't hit for me. Meat was juicy, which is good, but the bun felt too airy and the sauce was EVERYWHERE. Plus, the cheese was not melted.

dry meat, little to no sauce. the cookies an cream milk shake was good tho which brought up my food rating.

Onion rings and chocolate shake were great. Burger left something to be desired. Not worth the cost! $$$ should've went to In-N-out!!
This rating is done considering the price of the menu items, and additional service charges, as it sets expectation on the customers. Atmosphere 4/5 : Great decorations! I love the comfortable seats on the window side. The chair should have had cushion too, because it was cold and this restaurant is located in SF where the weather is usually chilly; that was one thing that I would improve. Service 3/5: As this is a burger place, I don't expect too much from the servers, the lady took care of our table just fine. My order was taken diligently. Food 1/5: As food is my main focus on my overall rating because I dine out for the taste, I'm not there for the environment as much as the taste of my food. Incident: Although I mentioned that I'd love to get pink center on my Big Louie Burger (Priced: $16 + tax + service fees), So we ordered the burger at the Medium Rare temperature. The burger comes in, it was overly cooked to Well Done temperature that I already told server I dislike over cook patty at the time we ordered. Although I mentioned this problem, server did nothing about it, instead we were asked to give it another try next time, hoping that one would be better. (We hope so.) Considering the mandatory 18% service charge on top of over priced burgers (considering its quality) - This place is a no - go for me. If there is a fixed gratitude, I would surely not advised a credit on the bill, as it would punish the server by reducing the service amount (I think this is unfair to the server, it's the kitchen that didn't cook it right). I didn't want my one star review to hit this place, I was so motivated to have a great burger, as I was told this place was related to one of the chefs in a Michelin Star restaurant but unfortunately we both were disappointed with the quality of the product they serve.
The food is good and my kids love it! When I ordered food, the staff enthusiastically recommended it to me. So when I paid the bill, I happily paid a 20% tip. After the burger was done, I wanted it split in half and I tipped an extra $5. But while I was dining, a male kitchen employee looked at me discriminatingly many times, so many times and made me feel very uncomfortable and unhappy. Also I shared my feelings with other staff.
