Piccadilly Fish & Chips

Real French fries, hand-dipped fish, all fried in an English fish fryer and wrapped in paper and newspaper. Always delicious! We will even occasionally drive from across the Bay for these.

Great fried fish but take out only in old and outdated restaurant. Worth going to just for the food and some of the best fish and chips!

Piccadilly fish and chips from the start brought back memories of my time in Cambridge England. I walked in purely on a recommendation and was beyond amazed with the quality of food and the affordable price. This place is one of the few remaining that doesn’t get the appreciation it deserves. During my second trip I tried their crab cakes and enjoyed them as well. The fish I personally believe to be better than Cambridge’s.

This was my second visit to Piccadilly Fish & Chips, I really enjoyed the food. Last time I ordered fried mushrooms, I always order fried mushrooms on any menu. These were the first time I had freshly breaded mushrooms, not pre-breaded and frozen to be resold. They must make these in-house. The same can be said for their fried zucchini, just look at the picture. Those are fresh! The chips are soft and creamy on the inside. These are not fries, these are definitely chips. The fish is tender and the prawns are flavorful. I picked up my order and walked home with them in 8 minutes, it had no negative affect. Although the smell of the chips were driving me crazy during the walk. This fat gurl highly recommends Piccadilly Fish & Chips.

I stopped by craving fish and chips. Apparently, it can be busy at this location, so calling your order in ahead of time is very wise. I got a 5 piece fish and chips and 3 pieces Ala cart. I was extremely happy with the food. The restaurant staff were polite and quick. The food was delicious. Craving fish and chips? I would recommend this location. Thanks so much!!

The owner is genuinely a nice guy. Always feel welcomed from the moment when I walk in because he always grates me with a smile. The taste of the fish and onion rings reminds us of England. It is fresh, fluffy and fulfilling. Honestly, it beats the fish and chips that I had in England! Highly recommend it! One of the few good places that only locals know about. Also the prawn “shrimp” are tasty too.

I don’t really understand the bad reviews: fish is perfectly fried and crispy and the man working there was friendly. The fries are okay, but the fish shines. I was most disappointed by not realizing I needed to order tartar sauce (my fault though!)

Surprised that there are so many bad reviews. Food was cooked right after the order. Can't be soggy. Awesome fish fries and onion rings, so crispy. Can be bland to some people (especially if you're used to salty food), but to me it was great - just add some ketchup and adjust it to your own taste.

My favorite hole in the wall for deep fried fish fillets and shrimp with fries. Order is served wrapped in newspaper and I love every greasy bite.

Great deal on very very good, fresh, cooked Infront of us fish (cod (we asked)) and chips. This place has been here as long as I've lived in SF - 25+ years now ... Talking to the owner they've been there 54 years. Only downside is you used to be able to eat inside - they only serve food to go now 🙄

Wish they had a calamari and chips option. But the fish and chips are great. Little pricey but that's the norm for San Fran. Overall great fried fish and chips place with other fried seafood options.

The batter on this fish is fantastic. Very tasty and leaves you wanting more. The only thing I wish is that the fries (chips) would be served unseasoned.

I don’t think the fish was fresh and the chips weren’t as crunchy as I like, but having it freshly battered and cooked right in front of me was a little nostalgic. The oil didn’t make me feel ill either so must be fresh oil…. Not a bad wait either

Great fish and chips in a rather run down location. Nice couple who need help in interior design to bring location up to the Great tasting fresh food.

It was ok for a fish and chip craving. I think I came on a off time and they try to save money by lowering the heat for the oil. Fish does look like they were cut in half. Fries were fresh and everything was cook to order. Because the oil was not hot enough, the batter was not crispy and almost white colored instead of golden brown. I would go again but if the food was coming out the same, I would ask them to double fry it. I do love the authentic cooking equipment.

I give it a 3 because the guy cooked it fresh and the fries are good The fish was horrible. No salt. No seasoning. Just batter. The batter taste like pancake mix. It's cheap. but it's worth a few bucks to go somewhere else. No napkins. No plate for to go. Just paper. I used an old news paper to wipe my hands from the grease

I give this an "okay" rating because compared to other efforts at reproducing real British fish & chips I've sampled this is about average. The smell and look of the place is very typical of a British "chippy" but it is let down by the fish and batter. Some of my chips were under cooked but those that were cooked were fine, not great but definitely 3-star. However the fish was rather bland and lacking in substance so I think it was probably pacific cod of some sort which is nothing like the dense flavorful Atlantic cod (or haddock). Real Atlantic cod is hard to get here and has usually been frozen a long time before it arrives and gets served, so that's why you rarely see it on the West Coast. The batter was just not the real thing - which should be thick and crunchy. The batter had also soaked up the flavor of many other things that had been cooked in the oil - mine tasted a bit shrimpy. With decent amounts of salt and vinegar you wouldn't notice but I'd rather not have to. Oh well, you live and learn and continue your hunt for the perfect English fish and chips...

The takeout container was too small and couldn't remotely be closed. He handed it to me like that, as if the need for a bag wasn't totally obvious. Rushed and not very friendly. Online site is severely out of date with prices double those shown. Cans of doda $2. Will try somewhere else.

Extremely nice pleasant couple working here. Food was absolutely beautiful, but lack any type of flavor. Just fried batter with ZERO flavor or seasoning. Food is fresh and cooked to order. I was disappointed because I looked at the ratings before going. Buy some Old Bay seasoning or whatever suits your tastebuds before ordering.

I just ordered a dine out here this evening on June 19 th 2023 he over charged me I only got three pieces of catfish and eight breaded shrimps and they both was so small 🦐 and fish 🐠 I won't never order there again it $33.67 😭 this is gross 🤢🤢🤢.

Just had Fish & Chips here and felt this is the worst place I ever had. Tasteless and the oil is dripping from both fish and fries. And the way person behaving that we owe him a lot and he is doing a favor for us. Don't waste money and I throwed most of it. Even one star is not worth.

I don't know what all the praising is about. I didn't find anything praiseworthy here. The fish and chips, that don't taste like anything and are greasy, are NOT wrapped in newspaper, but served in way too small portions in little plastic baskets. The owner doesn't speak a single word of English and is inpatient and grumpy. Especially looking at the price, it is not worth it by any means. $14 is just way too much for 4 tasteless pieces of what is supposed to be fish and 5 so possible even more tasteless, soggy fries.

Called in our order ahead of time, was told it would take 15 minutes, was more like 30 minutes. Not worth the wait, it was extremely greasy, way more than any other fish and chips i’ve had anywhere. We all had tummy aches after, will not go back.
