As good as it gets. Old fashion classy service, everything on the menu is fresh and prepared well. Cocktail menu has all the classics. Price is fair for what you get and then some. Cheers, have been back many times and never regretted it
Every time I’m in San Francisco, Pier 23 Cafe is a non-negotiable stop. This place is the definition of a perfect waterfront dining experience—breathtaking bay views, a laid-back yet lively atmosphere, and food that never disappoints. The calamari? Absolutely top-tier. It’s crispy, flavorful, and a must-have every single visit. The Caesar salad is fresh and well-balanced, and the vegan tacos are surprisingly filling and packed with flavor. And let’s talk about the drinks—reasonably priced and always on point! Beyond the food, the service is consistently great—friendly, efficient, and always welcoming. Whether you’re soaking up the sun on the patio or enjoying the cozy indoor vibes, Pier 23 delivers every time. If you’re in SF, don’t miss this spot!
Went here for the first time this month and I can’t wait to go back!!! The clam chowder is really soupy and not chunky like we are used to in SF! Loved it! Fast and friendly service ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The crab sandwich, shrimp cocktail, and iced tea are my absolute favorites! This isn't just a spot for tourists; locals frequent this place for a reason. If you’ve just hopped off a cruise ship and are looking for a high-quality, reliable meal, definitely stop by.
Visited here for lunch. There is both inside and outside seating. Outside seating comes with gorgeous view of San Francisco Bay and also coit tower. We ordered vegan tacos. It was filled with cauliflower, beans, cabbage, salsa etc. it was very tasty. Service was very good. Great place to chill, relax and enjoy the view while eating tasty food
Pier 23 is a great place to grab a drink and a bite to eat and watch the boats (and life) go by! I sat in a section without an umbrella, and it was ok. But had I been in little earlier I would have scored one of the good seats on the deck with one. Perhaps they could rig something up for the bar seats along the edge facing the water to have shade. These, in my opinion, are the best seats on the house!
We were on a cruise and decided to stop by before reboarding our ship and Pier 23 did not disappoint. Their fish and chips are delicious and are enough to share with another person. Their fish tacos were also good and reminded us of Baja tacos. Beer was nice and cold, service was fast and friendly. Definitely recommend.
We stopped by Pier 23 for happy hour and couldn’t have picked a better spot. The sunshine and patio vibes were absolutely perfect, making it a great place to unwind. Their happy hour menu has some awesome drink and food options—plenty to choose from without breaking the bank. We enjoyed a few happy hour drinks and were met with friendly, welcoming service throughout our visit. Definitely a solid go-to for a laid-back afternoon by the water.
I recently dined at Pier 23, and I must say, their fish and chips are exceptional. As someone from the UK, where fish and chips are a staple, I was pleasantly surprised to find that Pier 23 serves the best I've ever tasted. The fish was perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, while the chips were delightfully golden and fluffy. Beyond the amazing food, Pier 23's back garden is a hidden gem, offering a tranquil and charming atmosphere that's perfect for a relaxing meal. This restaurant truly stands out with its outstanding cuisine and enchanting outdoor space.

It was a nice place on a sunny Sunday in San Francisco just once I got out of the plane! I enjoyed the view from the garden and the cheese quesadilla.
Great service and great food. Great little casual place with chill vibe. The drinks are good. Dog friendly! Will go back.
Pier 23 is a popular restaurant in between fisherman wharf and the Ferry Building. The food is good, although, reading the reviews and the recommendation for a reservation, and how hard it is to get a table – I would have expected it to be stellar, which It’s not, but it is good. My dining companion and I wanted to try many things, so we over ordered. Highlights: the crab cakes were good, the fish rillette is actually quite tasty, and the chowder was also very good. The calamari was OK, but nothing to write home about. Service was prompt and decent, and the atmosphere is about what one would expect for an establishment in this part of SF, with a rather out of place Chinese god of good fortune statue on the patio. Overall, definitely worth a try if you’re in the area, although I do not know that I would go out of my way to go again. My assumption as to why its reviews are so high are probably its proximity to the cruise ship docking area – and I will say it is better than the average tourist trap restaurant that is found in Fisherman’s Wharf. Definitely worth a try.
I had the pleasure of eating lunch here today. I was caught up in the enjoyment of the moment, with a lovely view and good friends. I did not take pictures of my food, as I usually do or the atmosphere in the restaurant. What I can say, is that I did. Enjoy my apple spritz, and my street tacos were delicious. The friends I was dining with enjoyed the fish and chips, as well as the cheeseburger. The macaroni and cheese, and french fries are excellent. All in all. I would love to come back again, and try something different.
Pier 23 Cafe has been a waterfront favorite for years, and living nearby, I still enjoy stopping by when the weather is nice. The restaurant sits right on the Embarcadero, with outdoor tables stretching to the pier's edge and a casual, lively atmosphere that always feels welcoming. On my last visit, we were greeted with a smile and quickly seated out back, where the porch offers a partial but beautiful view of the San Francisco Bay. The vibe is relaxed, the service is friendly, and the food comes out quickly. The cheeseburger stood out as the favorite at our table, though everyone was happy with their meal. This is a great spot for brunch, lunch, or just drinks and snacks by the water. If you’re walking along the Embarcadero or visiting Fisherman’s Wharf, Pier 23 Cafe is an easy choice for good food, good drinks, and a great San Francisco setting.

I've been wanting to try this place for many, many years. Had up I had the opportunity yesterday to try it with my daughter and grandson. It was the price that bothered me. It was the taste. Service was friendly but could have been more on top of us to make sure everything was good. It was a great environment and it was a cool place to eat at. I always say it's worth a try.. I got a half a crab and yet it was okay. It was very small. My daughter got two fish tacos and said they were okay. And my grandson got mac and cheese which she liked. So I would recommend trying this place. I might have hit it at a bad time. I don't know. I doubt I will go back. I hope they improve because it's a real nice place
Would come back for the food, but not the service. Management wouldn’t let us have an umbrella moved to cover our eyes from the sun, there were no napkins or silverware at the table, and it was incredibly slow. It took us 30 minutes just to pay and leave after we asked for the check, and a different waitress had to run the check for our waitress. Overpriced for 2 people but wasn’t that bad for SF
Came here for lunch after a work event. Ordered the fish and chips. There wasn't much fish and the plate was majority just a basket of fries. Not the type if place to go for the food but really fir…
We enjoyed the first half of our dining experience — the location is great, of course. However, when I was almost finished with my crab cake, I noticed a human hair in it. I was offered 15% off that dish only (not the entire bill), which came to about $5 off for the experience of finding a hair in my food. To make matters worse, their credit card machine was down, so the staff manually recorded my credit card information and had me sign a slip for the total bill amount. No tip was included on the copy I signed. When I later checked my credit card statement, I saw that a 15% tip had been added without my authorization. This is not acceptable. I would have been willing to leave a tip if it had been communicated properly, but it should never be assumed or added by restaurant staff without the cardholder’s permission.
There’s nothing worse than a restaurant that gives itself a 20% tip for average service. You have no choice here if there is 5 people or more, you are going to be slugged an addional 20% and then asked if you would like to give a tip on top of that. You can read it in the fine print on the menu, in light grey text against the white paper!! Please tell me what the hell this is for? Apparently “ every Restaraunt in San Francisco does it” .. well why not be different and give great service for tips instead of standard service because you know the tip is included already. Food was ok, typically overpriced for the area and definitely on the greasy side so ask for extra napkins. Service was standard and ok, nothing extraordinary. The guy who brought the food out basically threw the meals down randomly and didn’t say a word. Chocolate mousse very rich and not enjoyable. There are better options around the area.

The treatment they gave to us was terrible. Their excuse... we are too busy.. The first time in United States that the personal of a restaurant has been that rude with us. Don't go!
Worst cheese burger ever, the wifi is so bad you can't place your order qr code, seems they want tips without supplying a service. Only good thing was the cider was cold. Our whole order never go…

Absolutely the worst dining experience ever. Waited at the table for about 15 minutes before someone came over. The table was dirty. and the check from the previous customer still sitting there. They didn't clean it off. I asked for water and he pointed to a bottle on the table. "How about some glassed with ice"? No silverware either. He seemed anger that he had to do something. The sandwich came and there was black soot all over the meat. I told the waitress and she told the manager. The manager came over and asked if I was going to eat it. I said no and all she said was sorry. REALLY! I had to ask for the bill 3 times. Don't waste your hard earned money here!!
