Opinions de Pokebola San Francisco
This is by far my favorite poke spot in the city. The fish is always fresh and tasty. Their portions are very tenors as well. I typically order from here at least twice a week. Both owners and their entire staff have always been welcoming and friendly to me. I would highly recommend Pokebola to anyone who's looking to eat delicious poke in SF.
Love this place, fresh and tasty, they have brown rice and don’t charge extra for most toppings. Perfect weekday snack. Just make sure to tell them how much sauce you want bc sometimes they will put way too much on - first time I came here my bowl was completely drenched in soy sauce. Inside they have countertops to sit at, but Patricia’s green is a short walk away and nice spot to eat outside. Perfect weekday spot. A medium bowl with 3 small scoops of protein - $14.25 as of July 2023 - is about the right size for most people, get small if you want a light lunch.
The price is great ($17 for 4 scoops of protein) for the quality and proportions. The fish was fresh, and the bowl was large enough for two people plus a little. Happy to finally find a poke place of good value!
Very clean dining environment and fresh food. One of the best poke in San Francisco. Price is reasonable. Service is good too. The only thing I don’t like is they offer no tap water.
Fresh ingredients, exciting menu with options you won't find anywhere else, and friendly staff that doesn't make you feel stupid while you're trying to figure out how to fit all those delicious options together! It would be nice if they had a liquor license so I could indulge in sakebola with my pokebola but they do have a lot of other beverages to choose from and water is free.
Food is always fresh and the staff are pleasant. Always get extra tuna and salmon! Yum!! Stop there to grab and go after work.

Pokebola is definitely a good place for a quick grab for lunch! The servings are definitely great and the price is alright as well. Went there couple times and definitely recommended.

I just ordered the best poke bowl from this place. OMG. These guys know how to make poke. I ate my bowl in less than 10 mins. So darn good. My new regular poke joint.
I go here in person to get takeout at lunch. I find the food is always fresh and tastes great. Best of all, what should be hot is hot and what should be cold is cold. Highly recommend, their bowls are delicious and they give good portions.

Door dashed poke from here and really enjoyed it. So many options!

I usually ordered from here and would recommend that - despite the silly name, it had a great selection of poke + toppings and was a go to when I needed a healthy, high protein fix.

I ordered a poke bowl from this restaurant and found a hair on a piece of edamame. I contacted the restaurant via their website over 1 week ago and received no response. I hope they contact me to help understand how this occurred…this can happen but not receiving a response after this experience is not up to par imo. Edit: changed to 3 stars following restaurant’s quick response.
TLDR; not as bad or good as the other reviews state. It’s fine…and gains points because it’s closer to where I live and priced competitively ($16.50+tax for 4 proteins). If I was closer to the poke spot on Church and Market (I'a Poke), I’d go there instead. But given how close this one is to where I live and a recent bad experience with Pokebar in the Twitter building, I’ll probably be back to Pokebola. …why they decided to have “ebola” in the name though…. Idk. —- Longer bit: Lots of mixed reviews on Google and a lot of the 5 star reviews comes from folks who only have 1-2 reviews so I was suspicious but this place is so close to my house I figured it was worth checking out. I dined in, not take out and I think that matters. You need to go and see what looks fresh. When I went all the toppings seemed fresh and were good. The fish was mixed with the salmon looking the best. I got salmon, shrimp, and tuna with ponzu. Overall everything was pretty bland. Not bad, just not very taste-ful. I pretty much could only taste the ponzu and occasional wasabi. Textures were fine and overall it was filling and a good value. But nothing to go out of your way for. Hits the spot for a “healthier” option, value poke near by. Until recently I would say that Pokebar at the Twitter building would be a much better choice and worth the extra block and half walk. However, I recently had a really gross bowl from them and haven’t been back yet to give them another chance. Not sure if it’s a decline in quality or a one off yet. So if this is your closest option, go for it.

Food was decent but nothing spectacular. I was also disappointed in the tuna and sauce in my poke bowl. Just a simple spray of soy sauce that dripped off from the tuna into the rice. Usually there a blend of sauces that brings the meat together. I found the food to be mediocre. Would I come again? I mean it’s so close to my office, so if I forgot my lunch, I would buy lunch here again. Now, I would not choose to come here again by choice. For what is offered at the price, I’m sure a majority of the price tag is to cover the rental space.
Pokebola has been a go-to lunch spot for me, but it has its ups and downs. On a positive note, the poke bowls are often good, with the fish usually tasting fresh. However, there have been times when the fish seemed a bit freezer-burned, which was disappointing. The portion size leans heavily towards rice, and although it fills you up, it can sometimes overshadow the fish and toppings. The prices have climbed noticeably over the last few years, which might not be ideal if you're keeping an eye on your budget. On the service front, the staff is generally friendly and quick to serve, though it’s important to plan your visit, as they sometimes close early, which can catch you off-guard. The ambiance is simple and straightforward. While the restaurant is clean and well-lit, the neighborhood can be a bit unpredictable, with the occasional incident of someone casually taking pastries or other items. Despite this, the spot remains a decent choice for a quick meal, with enough seating for a brief stop. Overall, Pokebola offers a convenient poke experience without too much fanfare. While not the best I've had, it does the job when I'm craving poke and don't want to wander too far. Just keep in mind the potential for a less-than-perfect meal or unexpected closures if you're planning a visit.

We ordered 2 make your own bowls. One was salmon and tuna, and one was salmon and Hamachi. The Hamachi tasted like it had gone bad (enough that i had to pick it out), and the tuna tasted very watery (no flavor). There was some brown paste in the rice that i had never seen (i eat poke often). Maybe we just got a bad batch.

Overall, it was ok and will not be ordering again. Ordered the tuna poke bowl. There's not enough sauce to make it tasty, it is more like different components placed in a bowl without the sauce to act like the glue to tie it all together. Definitely had a tastier poke bowl nearby.

Very confused by the 5 star reviews. This was the worst poke I’ve ever had. The bowl was full of liquid, like water? There was barely any of the toppings I ordered and the wasabi was SO strong and weird. I did order the zucchini noodles so maybe that’s part of the problem? But I will not try this place again to find out.

I would not recommend ordering from here. The ingredients were really poor quality - I had to pull out the fish since I was worried it would get me sick. The remaining ingredients were not very tasty.
Probably one of the worst poke bowls I’ve had. I usually order from fish in a box but decided to try this place. The fish was not fresh, they messed up my order and the portions were really small. Not ordering from here again. I will be sticking with fish in a box from now on.
This place refuses to let paying customers use the bathroom. Let that sink in. You take people’s money, serve food, and then say “no bathroom for you.” So how the hell am I supposed to wash my hands? Am I expected to eat with dirty hands like it’s the Middle Ages? That’s not just disgusting, it’s straight up irresponsible. If you’re running a restaurant and don’t allow customers to use the restroom, you shouldn’t be open. Hygiene clearly isn’t a priority here, and it shows. I’ve never felt so uncomfortable and unwelcome in a place that claims to serve food. Save yourself the frustration (and the germs) and go literally anywhere else.
