Just left here after looking for somewhere to eat for an hour ans stumbled across this. Food was delicious and best Indian I've had in almost 6 years. Will definitely be making a return trip back here. The food was nicely spicy, it hit me at first but one of the waiter rushed over with a glass of mango milk (i think) and settled the fire in my throat. If you love Indian or spice then you 100% need to go here. I promise you wont be dissapointed.
Full belly, happy belly! We wandered around and came across this little gem. The building above was under construction so we almost missed it but I'm so glad we didn't. The food was well prepared, beautifully spiced and served quickly. Not expensive, enough to share and absolutely delicious. Will come here again!
Iam a Indian astrologer pandit I have been here a lot of times again today I took a party of 13 people there and the service was very good. I was concerned that it would be slow or inefficient, but they took very good care of my entire group. The food was also delicious, which helped make it a wonderful experience for everyone in attendance. We especially enjoyed all of our appetizers, which tasted authentic and flavorful. I would highly recommend this restaurant as a place to go if you’re looking for Indian food in the San Francisco
Was hanging for some nice Indian food so got takeout from this restaurant to have back in my hotel room. They did not disappoint. Friendly staff, they packaged up my meal along with paper plate and condiments to take back to hotel, the meal was fabulous - chicken tikka masala, basmati rice, cheese naan, along with 2 dipping sauces, the chicken pieces were breast pieces, not cheap cuts which i often find elsewhere. This meal hit the spot and only $20. Thoroughly recommended.
We had the chicken tikka masala. Best CTM I've ever had. The sauce was thick and not water d down like the other places I've tried and you could taste the flavor without being overwhelmed.
The tandoori chicken tikka kebabs are soo tasty & the veggie samosas are nice and spicy. Both had such amazing flavours embedded into the dishes; absolutely scrumptious! Open late, downtown and such good prices = definitely try !
Nice little joint with very tasteful food. They serve Pakistani and Indian food. Very authentic tasting. My only complaint is that I bit into a very spicy jalapeño pepper. My fault though, should have known since it was a spicy dish.
I really liked that place. It offers a variety of Punjab/Pakistan lovely plates and it's Halal. Have tried it twice during my stay in San Francisco and would return again. Good service and reasonable prices.
Amazing quality food and very reasonable prices. Their samosa and veggie pakora were to die for. Great curry dishes. The manager (owner?) was very very friendly! Highly recommend this place. Super authentic.
This place is a diamond in the rough. Stumbled upon it by accident. Food was amazing. Service was great. No wine or beer, but they are happy to direct you to the liquor store next door to grab a bottle of wine and then serve it. Highly recommend this place.
If you want real home-cooked style Pakistani food then this is the place to go. Had the most delicious karhai, seekh kebabs and tandoori chicken ever. Just like we get back in Lahore. The owner, Waseem Saab is also the nicest person who will welcome you with true Pakistani hospitality. Highly recommended!
When I was working downtown, I and a couple friends from work would have lunch there two to three times a week for 6 years. I still go back every two weeks or so. The food has always been consistently good.
Ate here twice in a five-day trip, it was so good. Curry hot but gave me no stomach trouble like many do back in Scotland! Hope to eat here again on future trips.
I honestly have to say this is one of the best places I've ever been they're super inexpensive I was homeless and used to come here a lot when I was able to with my service animal and they treated me with such kindness and generosity I moved away two years ago but will be moving back and this will be the first restaurant I go and visit when I move back at the end of April 2024! Super excited to see the new renovations!
Absolutely delicious. I've tried probably a third of their menu and it's all fantastic! The only real con to this place is the area can be kind of questionable, but that's a small price to pay for food as good as this, and for the price it is. I always make it a point to come here when I'm in San Francisco, and it never disappoints. Their lamb is excellent, and the naan is some of my favorite I've ever had. It's the perfect blend of hole in the wall and excellent food, which really strikes a winning chord.
I've only been there once so far, but the service was outstanding and the food was very good. I was looking around to see if I could spot a spoon, and someone came up to me to ask if I needed something. That's what service should look like. I asked for the food very spicy, and they actually made it spicy (a rare thing). It could have been a little hotter, but they definitely made the effort. I enjoyed the lunch special. The chicken curry was good and the price reasonable. I think this is going to be a regular lunch place for me.
Being an Indian I can assure you this is truly authentic Indian restaurant. You might find bunch of Indian restaurants in bay area but very few are really good. And this place is definitely in my list for to-go . All fresh meal, no overnight served, ambient place, professional staff. Do try this place if you are looking for an Indian bite
Punjab Kabab House is reopened after being closed during Covid-19 and construction, They started limited hours 5pm till 9:30pm Monday to Saturday, Closed on Sunday. It’s open for dine in and phone pickup and app based delivery. It’s Halal and family own Restaurant. Thanks for visiting
Amazing Indian food in the heart of San Francisco. The staff is very efficient, they seat the guests down very quickly. Service is impeccable. Food is just too good. Very authentic, good spices, yummy menu. Must try while in the city.
Best Indian and Pakistani food I've ever had. Great service and affordable.Try the Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Kabab, and everything else.
Nice cozy place. Interiors reflect India from 1980s. Food is awesome in taste. Tried lamb curry and aloo spinach. Most importantly- they have a warm and welcoming atmosphere and look when you walk in.
This food is amazing! I’d highly recommend the lunch special of lamb korma curry with garbanzo beans and the bread that is made with lentils (I’m gluten and dairy free). Really good! And quite cheap
Small Brian/Pakistani restaurant. Simple menu, not over loaded with dishes. Service was polite and appropriate. Good mix of diners. The food was great. I kept it simple, starter and a curry with roti for $20 before tip. Food was well prepared, very tasty and of just the right size (not wayyy to large). I will com back here.
One of the best Pakistani food, Baldi gosh & chicken tikka masala are my personal favorite. Gr8 place to satisfy your taste buds.
It’s a awesome place I’ve been this place couple of times. Best lunch set menu. Good customer service. Loved this place Recommend for lunch special
Food was absolutely tasty, prices spot on and portions were decent. Highly recommend.
Really great place for punjabi food. The best part they can make it spicy( the indian level spicy). Plus onion on side for free. The guy was very friendly and generous. Will recommend to go there and try real indian spicy food.
Amazing food! Hidden gem of SF! we had the best Chicken tikka masala ever!

Amazing food! Hidden gem of SF! we had the best Chicken tikka masala ever!
They have very delicious Indian food and so respectful staff 🙂
PROS: - Insanely delicious lamb! - Insanely tasty chicken as well - just the right spicy level - Free water - Their garlic Naan is delicious! - Rice was pretty delicious - Amazing price CONS: - In a very shady area in SF Overall: This is a very good Indian restaurant that is a hidden gem hole-in-the-wall. We randomly stumbled upon it and the food was absolutely delicious. $24 + tip for 2 people and we were very satisfied and full.
Was fortunate to visit San Francisco last week with a friend, and this was my first visit to San Francisco. You can thus imagine how flabbergasted I must have been with the unique topography and beauty of the place such that we instantly decided to walk our way till Pier 39, so that we could absorb and appreciate the beauty of one of the most unique places in the world. That is when we came across this cute little place, which serves one of the best Indian and Pakistani food in San Francisco. I was more taken by the ambiance of the place which has very pleasant paintings and decoration and takes you back to India & Pakistan. The food served here is also delicious and after eating the American bland food for days together, it was certainly a delight. Also, the restaurant is very kind to offer free tea, which is awesome - just like the way you would get it in India & Pakistan :) :) A good place to visit, if you crave for Indian & Pakistani food in SF :) :) P.S. - I also liked the fact that the place serves both Indian and Pakistani food (which are otherwise also very similar in taste and preparation), in a way uniting the two countries and serving as a medium for people from both the countries to come and socialize.
We purchased food from here while in SFO. The food was good and reasonable, the kids enjoyed the biryani. But not authentic Punjabi food, a little westernized. The service was good. The items on the menu were also pretty good. Very close to Union Square. You can walk down there.
This place was really good. Food was tasty but for me it was too spicy, unfortunately I couldn't get anything for my child. All meals are spicy. But one thing a loved very much was masala chai. This was awesome and free. As I used to drink chai a lot, this place was may tea heaven. For desert there were one 3-4 option of Indian sweets, we tried one of it and it had unusual taste for us. As far as the atmosphere, it was perfect, interior design was pleasant and you can watch TV if you want while you are waiting for your meal. Location is absolutely terrific, located on the crossroads in downtown.
Not too bad. GREAT PORTION SIZES. For a San Francisco restaurant, you'll definitely get your money's worth. Only complaint, the waitress was too relaxed and didn't check on us often enough.
Another small Indian eating place which doesn't disappoint. Lunch special comes as a thali with one curry and one veg of the day with some rice and a naan, which is perfect quantity for an average human and prices very appropriately. Nothing exceptional in taste, but a very good place to eat your regular lunches (homely food).
The food was delicious and full of flavor! We got the Chicken Tikka Masala meal and Chicken Tikka Boti with a side of rice and garlic naan. The flavor of all the items was definitely 5/5. They had the best garlic naan I have ever had. It was well cooked and the perfect amount of garlic and puffiness. Dipping it in the sauce, lentils, and Raita was my favorite part. The Chicken Tikka Boti had a great taste as well and was presented on a little sizzling skillet. Overall food presentation was nice and fitting with the general atmosphere. Service was phenomenal as well! My single critique relates to the portion sizes. You get little chicken for the cost. Even removing the cost factor, I wish the standard portion size was just a little larger since the food was SO GOOD. Would 100% come back. Also, for the soda drinkers, just a heads up that the soda is offered as cans.
Amongst less than desirable surroundings, this food was a treat and the service was fast and pleasant!
Very good food in a great spot close to a lot of shopping and things to see. They don't sell alcohol there, but they let you carry in from a little grocery store right next door.
Great Indian/Paki food selection. Serving size is huge and the taste doesn't defer much from authentic Indian/Paki cuisine. Halal.

Friendly Staff. Fast service. Good pricing. Lamb briyani could have more meat. Certain days have a bigger crowd.
We came for lunch on a weekend. Daily lunch specials were only for weekdays, so we were somewhat disappointed. The Chicken tika masala and tandoori chicken we ordered were very delicious and filling. The service was good and the staff was friendly. My only concern is that the place could use some cleaning and dusting. I would come back again to this place, but maybe for a take out order.
I ordered mattar paneer and plain naan. The taste was average but what really irritated me was that there were only 4 pieces of paneer in the whole dish. Just 4!!! That was VERY disappointing. The food came in hot though and the pricing is acceptable. The restroom could do with a new coat of paint, though it was maintained cleanly, so no complaints there. The staff were polite and service was good.
Fairly mediocre Pakistani restaurant with portions on the smaller side. The tandoori mixed grill was average, the chicken tikka was good but the lamb and beef kabas were very chewy just like the naan. The fish tandoori was very flavourful however I got a mostly bone piece. The inside of the restaurant was lacking too and needs more lighting.
Quiet, traditionally decorated Indian/Pakistani food with comfy red velvet seating, expansive menu stacked with lucious dishes, complimentary papadam with mint and tamarind sauces, and serve yourself chai. A few dishes not typically featured at similar restaurants, including lamb karahi (tangy ginger and tomato sauce with chunks of delicately roasted lamb). Polite and conscientious service staff. Just a block from the the Powell Street turnaround.

I was really looking forward to the food here after reading all the google reviews. Unfortunately it was very disappointing! The naan was good. So was the mango last. The dishes here lacked flavour, the tikka masala chicken that was supposed to be spicy was in a sweet tomato gravy. The Alo gobi has absolutely zero flavour or seasoning whatsoever.
It is a cheap place. They serve big portions so better for groups. Good flavor. The service is ok but in general it looks like they do not clean much the place dust everywhere. Very dirty and smelly bathroom.

First of all, it was by far the worst service that I have ever had at any restaurant, The guy that waited on us was forgot everything we ordered, we had to ask him several times to bring us something, but refused to write anything down. Everyone at our table agree, it was the most tasteless, greasy and low-rent Indian food that we had ever had. It basically tasted like dirt. However, the real reason I’m writing this review came hours later when I was so violently ill due to whatever rancid oils they use in their food, I was bedridden for two days. Do not ever go to this restaurant, they should be put out of business.
One of the worst Afghan/Indian restaurants along the West Coast providing slow, poor customer service. The food lacks authenticity in spices, flavour, and cooking techniques/preparation. You're better off purchasing the Indian food at your local Trader Joe's Groceries!
Sadly I found them boarded up yesterday afternoon. I just read some reviews and it sounds like they are renovating, they were closed a few mths ago☹️, and someone said they were open again😃, but sadly I found them closed yesterday 😩. Im a business owner too, so I get it. Sometimes delays happen or something goes sideways right after your renovations and you have to close again. I will try next year when we visit SF again. Please give me this courtesy, adjust your business hours on google if you are temporarily closed. Please. I, a woman, was walking by myself and the condition of the neighborhood (and 🥺the street people, a few of them screaming at the noises in their own head) It was startling and upon finding you closed, as I had walked from my Union Square hotel to your location by myself, it left me quite concerned that I did not have the safe haven of your establishment to duck into. I had to turn around and walk (across the hot coals) past some raging individuals. By the way, when I return next year, please have lamb Korma and Lamb rogan josh on your menu, please. Those are my very favorite comfort foods 🥰
