I have been coming to the historic restaurant since the 90”s and the Food is EXCELLENT Still 10/10. We ordered the TADs Steak, TADs Salmon and a pup patty for our service dog BRUNO. We have a Service Animal and he was very welcomed into the restaurant with our meal. The food is so good we come and eat lunch or dinner 4-5x a year. We will be coming back sooner than later. **TADs THANK YOU FOR EXCELLENT FOOD & GREAT SERVICE.**

What can we say about Tad’s?? We ate there multiple times while staying in Downtown - breakfast, lunch, and dinner! We didn’t have a single bad thing! Breakfast? Order the pancakes. Especially for the table if you plan on eating something else. Dinner? You have to get the steak. You can’t go wrong with Tad’s!

I recently dined at an excellent steakhouse with great value for money. The ambiance was cozy, and the staff were friendly and attentive. The star of the show was the steak – perfectly cooked to my liking, juicy, and bursting with flavor. The menu offered a variety of cuts at reasonable prices, making it a fantastic choice for steak enthusiasts on a budget. The sides were equally impressive, complementing the main course beautifully. Overall, a delightful experience that combines quality, affordability, and a welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommended for a satisfying steak night!

This is my go-to spot when I visit the area. The atmosphere is nice. The food and service are great.

Pleasantly surprised with Tad’s. Wanted a steak dinner without a $100 price tag and for $27.99 it delivered! When we were leaving every table had at least one steak dinner on it, so it seems to be the go to place for it. Steak was cooked medium rare. It was a little chewy, but for the cut it was to be expected. They were plentiful on the add on of grilled onions and mushrooms. Baked potato was great. Salad was also good. Garlic bread was there only disappointment. More like over grilled buttered bread. Service was excellent and everyone was friendly. Plenty of open seating with clean tables. Restrooms were maintained and cleaned.

Affordable and delicious steak or grilled meat, the staff are mostly friendly when taking your order over the counter, and they have a nice bar. Some isssue that I always face will be having my steak doneness over my preference. Likewise every thing is great and I strongly recommend to come for a causal and quick lunch or dinner.

Honestly it’s not bad. I have the service a slightly lower rating because this is basically self-service. My wife and I came in for an early dinner and got the chicken fried steak to share. I asked for a blue cheese side salad and got ranch. Okay. I guess they’re both white. My chicken fried steak was okay. Not terrific, but did the job. My wife got the Louie seafood salad. It turned out to be a larger side salad with some shrimp on top. Again, not a deal breaker but not exactly a $20 dish. Everything came with bread and we got some water. So here’s the skinny. For a “steakhouse” that’s basically self-service, pay at the counter, this isn’t what I was expecting. The seating is basically cafeteria style but the prices (imply) more service. If you just wanted a quiet meal and didn’t want to pay for the tip, because why would you, this is your place. Tad’s usually isn’t full and you could potentially stay a while, so it could be what you’re looking for. If you want any service at all, then this may not be your cup of tea. Let me be clear. Absolutely nothing wrong with Tad’s Steakhouse. If you are looking for a 4/5 meal, this is it. It’s tasty and quick.

Great service and clean new look with the new makeover for Tads makes me smile. The increased pricing unfortunately does not. While I expected that the prices would go up with inflation, at $32 plus tip for their famous steak dinner, this is no longer the bargain steak joint I grew up with. The steak itself was well cooked and It's still more affordable compared to the high end steakhouses so I'm not faulting them for the increase, it just makes me have to double guess myself on coming here often. I still have a lot of love for Tads and their legacy in San Francisco, and I hope they ultimately succeed.

Had 8 meals here over a week. The food is high quality, consistently good portions and values. Amazing breakfast, lunch and dinner, variety. Also love the options of sides with entrees. The food were served very quickly and most of the tables are self serve. The steak and salmon were the standout. The Caesar salad is very typical of all Cali style salad. The port chop and chicken can be a bit dry but they are super flavorful. Highly recommend for no fuss high quality dining 👌

The Country Fried Steak was great and the bread they had with it with the best bread I have had it a while. Perfectly toasted! The rice pilaf was very very dry and the rice was undercooked so definitely go for a different side. The tuna melt was pretty typical for a tune melt. Nothing great nothing bad. Both meals came with a house salad and it was delicious! I don’t know what ranch they use but it was the best. Loved sitting inside near the windows. Great atmosphere and it wasn’t too loud despite there being a lot of people.

Great place for breakfast. Good portions and quick friendly service. The sourdough toast is good but the butter portions are very small .

I ordered a chicken sandwich at a place known for steak sandwiches. Made a fair choice the only change would b the sauce that comes on the sandwich. I would prefer the sauce to have a little more pickle flavor or slaw. The sandwich had a good crisp and the brioche but is always a hit when present. I’m not a big fry person but I could imagine most folks would want a hefty serving and that was not present. For desert a slice of cheesecake that was the star of the show. Creamy cheesecake with a good graham cracker crust. Worth a try if your in the area but I wouldn’t go out of my way for this one.

Cheap and cheerful—exactly what you’d expect from a place like this. It’s clean, the food comes out fast, and prices are fair. You’re not here for the ambience, but the staff do their best to make it welcoming. The menu’s surprisingly decent in size, with fresh, no-fuss dishes that get the job done. Don’t expect to be wowed, just fed. Avoid the Bloody Mary unless you like it strong and weird tasting. Still, for a quick bite, it ticks the boxes.

Cafeteria-style steakhouse with a full bar. You order, tip, and pay upfront. If you want table service, don’t come here. They have plenty of options and they are all more affordable than most steakhouse(including the one right across the street). We ordered tads famous steak and Pj's Fat Burger. The stake comes with a salad(wich was drenched in dressing and made it hard to eat/enjoy the salad. In addition it has garlic bread and I chose the baked potato with butter wich where good. My friend really enjoyed The PJ fat burger and the fries.
