Opinions de Red Bay Coffee San Francisco
It's wonderful to enjoy coffee that supports a mission and a world objective. The staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, as a tourist to the marketplace in San Francisco this quenched my need for quality coffee. Highly recommend going in and trying their cold brew, it is outstanding.
SF. So we’re pretty simple coffee people - we’re more than happy with our Nespresso machine at home and our local Philz coffee shop. But while walking around the Ferry Building, we saw Red Bay Coffee advertising a candied yam latte and of course we just had to try it. Omigosh it was just delicious. You could definitely taste the yam, but it wasn’t overpowering and it complimented the coffee well. I hope this will be part of their regular lineup and not just a seasonal offering!
Absolutely delicious espresso drinks. The iced latte is amazing with or without sweetener- my favorite is the honey lavender though! Also the cappuccino and the macchiato were both delicious too. Decor is crisp and full of plants and neutrals to give a really nice vibe! Also the concept behind the coffee- Africa's gift to the people is beautiful and complimented by their selection of small black owned business items from scarves to mugs for purchase. I highly recommend! Plus the baristas are kind and complete the perfect San Francisco coffee shop experience you hope for.
Red Bay Coffee is a great spot to grab a coffee in the SF ferry building. They have great service, a nice atmosphere to sit and wait for your ferry, and of course delicious coffee. I like their Saigon Latte which is this cafe’s take on a traditional Vietnamese coffee. It’s very tasty and can have the sweetness level adjusted to your preference.
Open space, bay view cafe with lots of variety of coffee, espresso drinks. Such as Red Bay fog, tumeric latte, charcoal latte, seasonal candied yam latte, etc. Love the compostable coffee lids. Merchandise they sell are somewhat pricey, but it is SF prime location. Get here early as the line can be long after 9:30am.
Pleasant ambiance with a great view of the water from the seating. Amazing place to cowork as there's plenty of comfortable chairs and desk space to accommodate. I got a hot tea which was very well priced ($3.15) and I had a variety of delicious options to choose from. A great reprieve from the bustling market street experience, before I make my way back out into the world.
Love their lattes! We love coming here especially when we walk through the ferry building. Their mocha latte is definitely our favorite since it isn't too sweet; it has the right bitterness from the chocolate that blends well with the coffee. I recently tried a seasonal flavor called the yam latte. I can definitely taste the yam and I thought it was pretty good. The bakery items they carry are definitely one of my favorites. I tried the pistachio berry croissant (I belive is the name?) and it was the most delicious croissant I've ever had! Will definitely keep coming back here.
The coffee is worth the trip to this building!! Best iced vanilla latte I’ve had my entire trip!! The cookie I ordered was just ok but not bad if you need something sweet but the coffee is worth the venture to this building
Love getting a decent cup of coffee, enjoy sitting & soaking in the atmosphere, and always appreciate the warm friendly smiles that welcome me every time!!
Good coffee! Dedicated outdoor seating and they also have some seats indoors. My new coffee spot when I’m in town!
I judge cafes by their vibe ; after all, beans are beans ; this cafe has deep chairs from where I enjoy the cafe’s interiors: modern industrial loft design - high ceilings, chic lighting. Great customer service. The coffee happens to be just fine , beans are from Columbia or Peru or Brazil or India or whatever. Had a good business meeting here and even ran into a friend. I need to borrow their chairs, permanently :)

I don’t know why everybody is complaining about coffee, but it’s actually very good and hight quality! I liked it even more than blue bottle or other chains. Cappuccino has the right amount of coffee and milk, so it’s strong enough but not too much.

10-22-21: Ordered a small drip coffee and got an 8 Oz coffee for $2.25. It was good. Unfortunately, they add milk or cream for you so and the server put too much milk for my taste. So the coffee was a bit too watered down for me. I wish they would ask you how much cream you wanted. Oh well. Next time I would try blue bottle coffee around the corner.
Service here is very slow. Be prepared to wait a while during busy times to get your order. They seem to be understaffed for the high volume of business they are dealing with. Ordered a hot chai latte with whole milk, good thing I checked the order screen because the guy had put down oat milk on the order. The chai was very good, spicy and not too sweet. The atmosphere feels like a warehouse space. I recommend this business
Nice little coffee shop situated at the ferry building. We had the vanilla bean iced latte and it was delicious. Nice and peaceful to sit outside.
Red Bay Coffee – Ferry Building, SFO Conveniently located along the Ferry Building, this spot is ideal for passersby. There are chairs and tables outside, making it a nice place to pause and enjoy your drink. Ordering is simple, with a menu offering basic but solid choices. I tried the Africano—strong and flavorful, with a distinctive espresso-like taste. You can customize it with milk (they offer chocolate milk and at least two other options I can’t quite recall). The matcha, on the other hand, was a bit too bitter and overly concentrated for my taste. The staff are friendly and helpful, adding to the overall pleasant experience.
This place does do a very good coffee when done properly and the brownie I got was decent if a bit dense. What lets it down is the service isn’t amazing. Both times we went in the server at the till seemed like they didn’t want to be there and my partner got a coffee 3/4 full after the staff seemed to suddenly change shift mid making the drink so it was started and finished by different people.
Ordered the charcoal latte and was pleasantly surprised at how this tastes. Before this experience, I never knew charcoal was used in coffee but now I'll have to track down a local version as I see this becoming my go-to flavor. Although not super friendly, the staff was not rude to me which since other review mention... Maybe they were the problem? Also my cup didn't leak and honestly, even if it did, it's not that big of a deal, just get another cup. Didn't WOW me but also wasn't bad, if I lived here, this might be a regular stop.
Really good coffee, although a little pricey. Located in the Ferry Building was super convenient. Used the tablet to order. A 12oz mocha latte was about $7. Service was great and good vibe in the cafe.
Nice place to visit in the Market place of San Francisco. I got a hot chocolate which was average and a chocolate croissant which was good. The place was fully packed, but we still could get a place to sit.
Nice spot to stop at if you're around the ferry building. Got the charcoal latte and it was pretty good! Nice amount of sweetness. Will likely come back to try out their coffee!
Ordering kiosks a convenient addition. We had a decaf mocha and a Saigon latte. Both tasty. Unfortunately no low-fat milk. Choices were whole milk, half and half, almond, or oat milk.

I was excited about new location and really enjoy the lattes but the service is poor. Understaffed and don’t care about customers.
Vegan / Veg / Vegetarian review 🥬: 1. Charcoal Coffee with Oatmilk (5/5): Loved it! My favorite. Was good with almond / oat milk 2. Sesame Coffee with Oatmilk (4.5/5): Loved this as well. Ask them to blend it really really well. 3. Rose Coffee (4/5): Not good hot, better cold. Needed more rose syrup, and get it with less milk. 4. OatMilk Mocha (2/5): (take away already bottled) based on the barista's recommendation. It was not good, low on calories but not tasty. Worth trying if you're vegan and want something on the go. The drinks are seasonal (or just change often? with no seasonality?) I really wish they had vegan croissants though :)
Conveniently located in the ferry building. Has a variety of hot and cold beverages as well as a few snacks and coffee accessories. Unfortunately, give it lower stars because they charge extra for plant-based milk which these days, should be less than if not equal to more environmentally destructive animal milk. They have coffee as well as tea, such as matcha. They also sell one fine + raw chocolate item which is nice to see you. Would be great to see more vegan items, including in the pastry case.

Worst Macchiato ordered from a shop ever! I guess it is worth waiting in line at Blue Bottle or Signal! Do not recommend.
Immediate red flag was the use of Costco milk. Against my better judgement still ordered a latte instead of walking over to blue bottle. Why not support a black owned business. Unfortunately the coffee here is pretty bad.
When Red Bay first opened in the Ferry Building, I was an enthusiastic fan. But the quality and service have unfortunately deteriorated recently. For the second time, the muffin was undercooked. Today my oat milk cappuccino was made with dairy milk instead. Perhaps I didn’t enunciate oat milk when I ordered or perhaps the guy taking orders was so out of it he just didn’t care. They did remake it but with lukewarm oat milk. I want to continue coming here but not if the staff don’t seem to care.

This used to be my go-to in the Ferry Building, but not anymore. TLDR; They got my name and order wrong and asked if the incorrect drink was ok, but it would've caused an allergic reaction for my colleague. I ordered this morning with the girl behind the counter for a matcha latte with oat milk for me and my colleague. She asked me for my name, and I thought I was good. I timed it perfectly so we have more than enough time for her to get to the office. Tell me why they got my name and order wrong. Two matcha lattes with almond milk for Fernando. My name is Andrew. I was waiting, and they kept calling for this guy, so after a while I concluded it was for me. When I told the guy behind the counter that I asked for oat, not almond milk, he said it was almond milk and if that's fine. It was not. My colleague is literally allergic to nuts and would have a severe reaction if she drank that. They made us new drinks, but we were now running late and I will never come here again.
Burnt coffee and poorly textured milk, which completely ruined the drink. Considering the long wait and the high price, I expected a much better experience. Very disappointing for a coffee shop
This is a review from their new location in the Ferry Building. I had my qualms with the old location and was hoping the rebrand and downsizing would help. It did not. Today's experience: after I ordered my coffee and pastry and was asked to pay, the barista was literally bent over the POS system to make sure I tipped before they even began to pour my drip coffee. I tipped $1 because the time before I ate at the new location, my total was $9.75. Paying with cash, I just gave them the remaining quarter for tip and the barista "forgot" to give me my drip coffee, and I had to wait 5 minutes before asking someone to pour it for me. Back to today's experience. Once getting my coffee and pastry, I went over to add sugar and put on the lid. They were out of both, and scrawled on a piece of tape on the caddy was "if you don't see it, we don't have it". Okay, I guess... I had to go over to another business and ask them for a lid. Still no sugar, so I had to walk over to the overpriced Blue Bottle and use their sugar. Finally, I can sit down and enjoy this, right? No. The coffee is cold. Straight out of Curb Your Enthusiasm. I can even stick my nose in it no problem. Five thumbs down 👎👎👎👎👎

The coffee was horrible! The milk wasn’t foamed properly and the coffee was completely burnt. Even though Blue Bottle is more expensive, they have much better coffee. $5.5 to the trash can
