Opinions de Saison Cellar & Wine Bar San Francisco
WOW! This place serves the best mulled wine and grilled cheese sandwich I’ve ever had!! ✅ The mulled wine was so good that my husband—who hates cinnamon—finished it without hesitation. ✅ The mushroom croque was outstanding: beautiful mouthfeel, rich flavors, and great texture. ✅ The chocolate pot de crème was incredibly satisfying—loved the dark chocolate and orange combination. The sesame wafer was slightly stale, but it was a very minor drawback. ✅ Truffle fries were perfectly cooked, and the truffle sauce was packed with flavor. ✅ The winter spritz had such a unique, refreshing profile. ✅ The red wine flight was quite enjoyable as well. 🆗 The green salad was fairly basic, but the portion size was generous. Justin, our server, was incredibly sweet and friendly and even brought us some lovely wine samples. We had an amazing time—it was the perfect way to ring in the new year! Highly recommend this place for both the wine cocktails and the fantastic food 🍷🧀✨
Everything was good. I’ve been there couple of times and love their food and HH. Staffs are always great and friendly. If you want to be at the HH, make sure that makes a reservation! Very popular HH sort in the city even though it starts at 3pm.
INDIE provided amazing service !! He was friendly, warm and knowledgeable. His sense of humor was much appreciated. First time celebrating a birthday, the bday girl was given a glass of champagne! Cheers! What a nice touch. We had a few flights of the Pinot Noir. Enjoyed several glasses of various wine. The food was tasty, charcuterie with the goat cheese was my fave, the truffle fries were good and the ham croquettes were worth the wait !!! Will def be back. You’re paying for exceptional quality and service ! So worth it!
The perfect bar in my book! Not too loud. Close to a station. Large selection of wines. Delicious bites (their fries are the best).
One visit and this is now on my "regular haunt" list. Saison wine bar is impeccable. The room is wonderful and dripping with character. Wine selection is exceptional, the food selection is simple but top quality. The staff are lovely, warm and super educated. Thrilled this is in the neighborhood.
Saison Cellar Wine Bar is an absolute gem! The moment you step inside, you're transported to a cozy, intimate space that feels like a hidden sanctuary for wine lovers. The wine selection options ranging from the well-loved classics to unique, hard-to-find bottles. Many flight options which I appreciate. The food items are delicious as well. We got the caviar parfait, truffle fries, chicken liver mousse and Croque monsieur! The garden salad was very refreshing and flavorful. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and always ready to offer the perfect recommendation, no matter your taste or level of wine expertise. Whether you're there for a casual glass after work or a special occasion, they deliver an exceptional experience.
Came here strictly for the happy hour specials and had a blast. Selected food and wines were $5 off regular pricing. Glad we made reservations and got here at 3:30 before the 4-5pm $1 oyster deal peak time. Favorites were the white wine, fries with real bits of truffle shavings, and jamon. Salad with the duck pate and the honey for the potatoes Dauphine were delicious too. Rob really took care of our table, mentioned they could do half pours of wine, and they'll have fun brunches on Sunday soon! Thank you for such a great experience! We'll be back soon!
Marketed as “affordable luxury,” Saison wine bar is a sleek space, with deep blue walls and taxidermy. I didn’t know I was into sexy modern, hunting cabin vibes, but I’m a new fan! The wine menu has a large selection of wines by the glass, ranging from $11 to $90, many of which you would usually only be able to purchase by the bottle. Along with the wine is a concise, but excellent French food menu. There’s a strong cheese and charcuterie selection including Maison Nico pâté en croûte. An instagrammable caviar parfait a la Mina has layers of créme fraîché, smoked salmon, and egg. The traditional croque monsieur (ham and cheese sandwich) is perhaps the best I’ve tried, with an option to add shaved perigord truffle. And you can’t go wrong with classics like bread and butter, featuring Tarts de Feybesse levain bread, or truffle fries. Dessert was also memorable – I loved both the cherry gâteau basque with cherry ice cream, and the stone fruit financier with sour cream mousse and vanilla ice cream. I thought the service was impressively polished just a month after opening. Sommelier Paul Carayas and team were personable and made the affordable luxury experience very approachable as well! Next to the wine bar is Saison Cellar, a private members club with access to climate-controlled personal wine storage. They are offering a founding cellar membership, with storage for up to 78 bottles and a $5000 dining credit.
Saison is a nice addition to the neighborhood. The navy blue and gold decor gives it a cozy feel, and the staff is friendly. If you’re planning to hit the 4-5pm happy hour, just be prepared for a bit of a wait. The $1 oysters are definitely the best deal, and we also tried the truffle fries, potato balls, and charcuterie board, which were good. I’ll definitely come back for the oysters and the relaxed atmosphere.
Saison is a hidden gem in the Mission Bay neighborhood, offering a sophisticated yet inviting atmosphere perfect for a night out. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted by a warm ambiance, soft lighting, and a curated selection of wines and champagne. To complement the exquisite wines, Saison offers a delectable menu of small bites and charcuterie. The caviar is a must-try, with high-quality caviar served with all the traditional accompaniments. The cheese selection is equally impressive, featuring carefully curated options of artisanal cheeses. The croque monsieur is so good you'll think you're in France. Beyond the food and wine, the service is impeccable. The knowledgeable and friendly staff are always on hand to offer recommendations and ensure that every guest has a memorable experience. If you're looking for a luxurious and unforgettable night out, Saison is the perfect destination.
I’ve been quite excited for the opening of this awesome addition to our neighborhood. What’s even more exciting is the fact that the team here has already exceeded the rather high expectations I had anticipated… And it hasn’t even been open a full week!! Wine pour’n Paul does a wonderful job sharing his incredible wealth of knowledge. Then we have the food which is thoughtfully crafted, delicious and provides an exceptional value for the rather modest pricing. I cannot speak for the entire neighborhood, but I for one am very happy to welcome you!
this happy hour is a must!! the wines are amazing, as are the truffle fries and oysters. this is the kind of happy hour worth gatekeeping because it’s so good. i’d recommend making a res for hh because it gets packed.
Great wine bar. Delicious food, great wines from all over. And even had some stuff I never heard of. Staff is wonderful. Can’t wait to come back for happy hour.

Wow! Saison Cellar & Wine Bar rocks! Paul and team have done an impressive job curating a stellar wine list. We had the 22 J Wrigley Vineyards Pinot Noir from Willamette Valley. Beautiful elegant Budgundy style pinot. The cheese and meat boards were delicious. The room lights up with the energetic din of happy conversartions. Had a great time with friends. This is a go to spot for great wines, small bites, and a fantastic crew curating the entire experience. So fun!
What a wonderful find in SF. From the moment we walked in, the team was super friendly, helpful and made us feel welcome. We got the impression they truly enjoy working there. We ordered a scrumptious cheeseboard (at our request our sever picked the cheeses for us ) and wine. We’d just been to another fancy cocktail bar in the same area that was pretentious and unwelcoming. 100% for the Saison team for turning around that night Ana showing what great hospitality looks like!
The experience brought us back to our time in South of France. Indi, the manager, was very friendly and respectful. We had a wonderful time. We would definitely come to this place again. By the way, try the Hungarian sweet wine when you are here if you are into sweet wines. It is a good idea te get reservations.
happy hour was great ! 1.50$ oysters, they were super fresh and buttery and the mignonette was tangy but not too sweet. things got super busy at a point and we waiting a long time for our last order of oysters as a result, but we received a complimentary poor for the wait. 100% fantastic food, wine and service.

I love Saison and this side hustle of theirs did not disappoint. Love the decor, with old fashioned brass lamp pole lights mounted to the marble bar, nouveau-french inspired colors and trim, and though I normally don't love dead animals mounted to the wall, somehow they really pulled it off. Engaged and knowledgeable staff and as one would expect from Saison, lovely glassware. Food was absolutely delicious. Best fries I've ever had in my life, and the croque monsieur which features bechamel was just spectacular. Wine list is EXTENSIVE if ordering bottles with a nice selection of glasses as well. I had Claude AI read their entire wine list against my particular tastes and was lead to a $72 Wagner Riesling which was honestly one of the most interesting whites I've ever had. A+ wish it was on my block.
Favorite wine bar in the city right now. They have great wines by the glass including an impressive Coravin pour list, a truly extensive bottle list with both top rated wines and some really interesting picks, and a super friend and knowledgeable staff. On top of that, the food there is way better than it needs to be. They shave real truffle over their truffle fries… need I say more?? But seriously, one of the best wine bars in the city and by far the best in that area.
We tried two Saison wines (the chardonnay and one of the reds), both delicious and very smooth! Also tried the truffle fries and charcuterie, quite high price but yummy. Very vibey and lovely staff.
They put the name Saison on this place for a reason--to put butts in seats--but the establishment doesn't come close to living up to the namesake's Michelin star reputation. Limited menu that requires little mastery at service: Oysters, jarred liver Pate, molded parfaits, cheese ... With that said it's the best part of the place--and paired with my good company it made for a passable night. The restaurant was built on a budget. Flimsy assembly-required bar stools, fake wooden tables, and awful stainless steel framed wine fridges that make you feel like you're in a walk-in not a wine cellar. The contrast of mid-century and rustic elements paried with the gorgeous, what I assume is original to the space, rose-colored marble bar, is giving design on a dime dive bar. But what really disappointed was the service. I know it's bad out there, but it's this really the best SF has to offer? Maybe this is what every one is talking about when interacting with Gen z-- inability to grasp social cues, ADHD focus, no menu or wine knowledge, and issues properly placing orders even after they wrote it down--and then they autograt! Hopefully some of that money is making it to the kitchen. $350 for 2 No reason to ever return
Our experience here was mediocre at best. We ordered a few drinks, truffle fries, cheesy toast and chocolate pot de creme. Service was super slow. It took them more than 45 mins to get the main course. Fries were cold when served. We had to keep asking for silverware for salad and dessert, water, etc. which was annoying.
