Go for ramen! Super drafty when the door opens. Doesn't matter where you sit. So be sure to bring lots of warm clothes. It helps that the staff consciously closes the door when they see it left open. I recommend spicy mala and spicy garlic tonkatsu(although I wish this one had more meat for the price)
yesss honestly this place popped off!! the photo does not do the food justice because i started eating before i took a photo. was pleased with the miso vegan option — honestly better than i was expecting. hit the spot during a cold sf night. the potato croquette appetizer was pretty good. tasted like i thought it would. 10/10 will be coming back ❤️
My BF and I were looking for a new ramen spot to try in our neighborhood and came across saiwaii. We were quickly greeted and seated. The server was attentive, and the food came out fast. We shared an order of the croquettes and they were fresh, hot and delicious! I ordered the vegetarian spicy miso ramen with an egg and it was perfect! Can’t wait to visit again sometime soon now that the weather is getting cooler.
So good! Been coming here for more than 5 years. Love their ramen, love love the spicy mala. The seafood and the chicken ramen are excellent if you’re not feeling pork. The veg mapo tofu & curry rice plates are excellent too!
I would describe this place as a comfort Ramen place. I liked the spicy garlic Tonkotsu. I opted for medium spicy, but it wasn't spicy enough for my taste buds. So if you are into spicy food, try the spiciest option. Apart from Ramen, you can also get donburi ( rice bowl). I ordered fried calamari. It was crispy on the outside, but slightly chewy than I'm used to. The staff is super cheerful and helpful. Loved it!!
Wow the vegetarian spicy garlic ramen did not disappoint. It’s hard finding a good veggie ramen with tasty broth and toppings. This hit the spot - so did the grilled mushrooms
Outstanding ramen and graciously accommodating for our large party of 8. All three generations in our family’s party were satisfied and pleased with a last minute dinner in this casual setting near the park. Limited beverage menu of soft drinks, beer and sake but that was fine for us. The food was delicious and priced fairly. The atmosphere is low key and a bit cramped but we had a great time for an impromptu reunion when a bridge closure brought trans bay traffic to a standstill. I am so happy I had saved it to “places to go “ list and they were able to fit us in. Outperformed expectations.
Really tasty ramen. I had the spicy mala, served at the medium spice level which was perfect for me. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Been here a few time . My son picked this restaurant for his birthday lunch. We love the food here. Ramen taste outstanding. Free side dishes on week day is bonus and was delicious. Always go there for Ramen when we are in the area. We are from east bay. Will always come back again!
First time here, conveniently located, quick service even when I got in just minutes before closing. Spicy garlic Tonkotsu, nicely springy noodles, flavorful broth, thick-cut chashu -5 Quick, friendly service - 5 Relaxed, friendly atmosphere - 5
A really great ramen spot nestled in the Sunset. Sizeable portions at an incredibly reasonable price. Staff was considerate and attentive. A lot of vegetarian options with substitutions to make it vegan. I highly recommend the spicy garlic miso ramen and the chicken karage.
One of the best vegetarian ramen in the city for $14! Good vegetarian options, I've tried the potato croquette, mushroom torio, and the spicy tofu. Generous portion, and amazing taste.
Quick, friendly, high quality food and best price in the whole California state. Love this place. Can’t wait until we visit SF again. Thanks the owner and staff for everything their offer to customers year after year 🙏😋👍
Spicy garlic tonkatsu ramen with spice level extra was pretty good, although I would call the spice level medium at most. The noodles were nice and springy and held the soup well. I did not find any ground pork in the soup. The waitress told me that they make the soup with ground pork. Maybe, but I doubt that ground pork dissolves completely. Probably, they forgot to put it in, but it was ok. Gyoza was also good.
My go to ramen place. Food is delicious n price reasonable. If u get the lunch special, u get one free choices of 5 appetizer. My favorite is chicken karaoke with the special home make sauce. So $15 get u 3 nice piece of chicken karaoke n a big bow of tonkotsu ramen with all the trimming.
Mala ramen is definitely the star here - and you can get it with just the numbing spice ("ma") and not the fiery spice. Curry katsu was also good, but not as good as the ramen.
Very good ramen lunch. For $15, you get a tonkatsu ramen and a choice of sides. We picked gyoza and chicken karaage. The ramen was very good and the noodles were excellent but the broth was a bit salty. The gyoza (3) was good and crunchy but the chicken karasge was boneless and had a perfect crunch! That’s a winner! The service was outstanding as we had our high end bikes and said we would eat at one of the two outside tables but the staff told us to bring our bikes inside the restaurant and that it was not a problem!! Since it was very cold and windy, we were very very pleased at their hospitality!!
Must try: Spicy Garlic Tonkotsu. And the Spicy Garlic Crab is out of this world! I maybe exaggerating, but it’s really delicious 😋 However, parking is scarce. The street is surrounded by lots of stores. Sometimes it takes 30mins just to find a parking space. It is worth it though 😅
Incredible ramen with lots of flavor and broth options, and the cuts of Chashu pork are thick and tender. Staff is incredibly friendly and can serve you as quick as you like. It has a medium-sized, simple dining area - nothing fancy - but certainly comfortable. Lunch specials are a great deal. We had the spicy tonkatsu ramen and mala ramen and loved them both. Also, this place has delicious bacon-wrapped mochi, which I ate too quickly to photograph…woops
Really good spicy mala, I ordered the mild and it was enough spiciness for me. My husband ordered the vegetarian miso. He liked it. I liked mine best but if you are vegetarian you will be happy with the miso. Friendly staff but expect a long wait if there is an event happening in the park since this is a typical SF restaurant with very little tables.
Their ramen is great! I tried the Spicy Garlic Tonkotsu and I loved it! I had medium spicy and it was good. The spice level was pretty spicy but not too much that it wasn’t enjoyable to eat anymore. The broth was also slightly think which paired well with the semi firm noodles. It was chock full of toppings too which made the texture experience of the ramen very enjoyable. This is the sort of ramen that i would love to eat on an especially cold day or a rainy day. Very comforting. The price wasn’t too bad either. I feel it’s value for money. I also tried the Gyoza. It was ok. The sauce was good and the cook of the gyoza skin made it crispy. I have to say, I’m not the biggest fan of the filling though. A bit mushy for my taste. All in all, this place was pretty good! I’d recommend them for great tasting ramen 😌
We happily stumbled upon this place hiking in and around the park. The ramen is amazing, the rice is perfect, everything's is over the top delicious. You can taste thousands of years of culture in every bit. The service is very friendly as well, they are super happy to see you. I can't wait to come back and work my way all the way through the minu, top to bottom.
Great food and service. 5 of us with five different meals and all were great. My wife got "noodles" and I got the Mapo Tofu. Even the tea was good. Great place on a cold San Francisco day.
I know it’s not ideal to order in Ramen but I was craving it so bad. Vegetarian spicy ramen was indeed spicy and so flavorful. I’ll be sure to dine-in the next time.
We ordered the karage donburi and chicken katsu curry and both were divine! The chicken katsu curry was some of the best I’ve had in my life - that is my go to order at Japanese restaurants so I’ve tried many ;) definitely worth a visit if you are in the outer sunset.
This is my first time at this restaurant and I have to say the food was delicious. The service was very good from the moment you walk in and get greeted to the moment you leave and are wished a good day. The atmosphere was good, and the staff was very friendly and explained the items on the menu at length for those who don't know what they are. I highly recommend you visit this place. Just be aware that it fills up quickly. I had the non spicy tonkotsu, and my girlfriend had spicy tonkotsu.
A yummy neighborhood restaurant serving some of the best Ramen in the Sunset. Sushi and other dishes are pretty good too.
Tried this place out and thoroughly enjoyed it. It is a very small place. I went after the lunch rush, so had no problem getting in. The service was good. I had the Spicy Mala. It was exceptional. I am not a ramen connoisseur, but thought there was plenty of flavor. I would go back.
We love Saiwaii! Always order the Vegetarian Spicy Garlic Miso Ramen. Consistently comes out amazing every time. Friendly service - definitely recommend!

Ramen dishes and Octopus appetizers were excellent, and rice dish with chicken curry was quite good. Server was very attentive, quick, and genuinely polite. Not a luxurious establishment, but the quality of food, preparation, and service at these prices will keep us coming back.
Nice and cozy place in the sunset. Friendly and fast service. Both our Ramens were spicy as ordered, taste is good but little overpowering. Halfway, we were already full. Baked mussels had some weird creamy taste, would totally skip that.
Came in early on a Sunday evening so service was really fast. I definitely enjoyed the Tonkotsu ramen, especially for the price. Good noodles and broth, and fresh toppings. Didn't go for the spicy garlic version ($2 more expensive) but simply added spice powder and oil which worked pretty well. Only let down was the pork, a little bit plain in flavor. The karaage however was a bit of a disappoinment. Didn't look that good and tasted too fiirm. While it definitely has a large portion, lots of it was just deep fried coatings. Overall still a good value option for ramen on Irving.
Firstly the service is good, everyone there was attentive and nice. The appetizers were really good. We got the mushrooms and agedashi tofu. However the ramen was just ok to me, it was a little too plain.
The food is delicious and well presented. And the price is just right. Its my first time to eat sushi and it taste so good.

Stopped by for dinner when the restaurant just opened on a Friday night. We each ordered a bowl of ramen, Tonkotsu and Miso, along with a few side dishes for my toddler. The food came out fast…almost too fast because the ramen broth for both bowls tasted water down and the noodles were overcooked. It was as if they had a big pot of broth in the back and they mixed in water to dilute it down and serve. It was bland. The pork slices were overcooked and it was terrible bowls of ramen. Would not return.
Terrible service. The middle-aged female staff was very rude and unprofessional. She seemed impatient the whole time and spoke to customers with a bad attitude. The food was average, but the service completely ruined the experience. I won’t come back again.
