Had a very lovely morning at SPRO. Busy and buzzy, a great spot for working 💻 The baristas are warm and friendly — which makes for a terrific atmosphere! The spro itself was rich and cocoa-y, absolutely delicious. Overnight oats were exactly what I hoped for! Creamy and a good portion size. Will absolutely be back! And a special shoutout to the 3 blueberries that come with the coffee cup 🫐 Adorable!
I highly recommend this cafe for speciality drinks and a unique coffee experience. It's more like some kind of coffee lab with mad scientists working in the back concocting brilliant flavor combinations than a traditional cafe. The food is high quality and delicious. And the drinks are all so good, you'll have a hard time deciding what to get. I usually get the Orange Blossom, Hong Kong Milk Tea, or Geisha. If you only have time to visit one cafe in SF, make it SPRO! My original review (unfairly) dinged them for an overly complicated toilet that includes a remote for flushing. They were nice enough to patiently reply and address all my points, which frankly makes me like this place even more. Give 'em a nice tip and bring your friends!
I come for the single origin espressos, which have their own menu. They have a bunch of really special and tasty options!
Simply the best 😌✨❤️ I always get the Spice Islands with oat milk, hot, and it’s my favorite latte in the bay. Also, great seating and wifi for if you want to hunker down and get some work done (can be very packed though).
Espresso is spectacularly good. Single origin program is amazing. Pastries are great sometimes. Just fine other times. Haven't tried the food. Service is friendly, but there can be a slow moving line on weekends.
SPRO's vibe is chill, study café. The lo-fi hip hop in the background as well as SPRO's location in the calmer part of the Mission makes this a prime spot to get some work done or do some reading. I really enjoyed the mardi gras I ordered as well as the blueberry mochi waffle. The Mardi Gras had a special refreshing and herbal taste and the blueberry mochi waffle retained the gelatinous texture of mochi while still being crispy on the outside. Side note: this café has, by far, the nicest restroom of any café I have ever been to. It's decked with an expensive looking bidet and the restroom in general feels like I'm in a spa. Overall, I think SPRO is a great spot to switch things up from your typical cafés.
I'm obsessed with the drink menu here -- it's so unique and outside-the-box with the flavor combos. I wanted to try everything, but landed on "tea thyme". It was an excellent drink, not much else I can say. Their cookie flavors are pretty unique, too. The brown butter chocolate chip was underwhelming, unfortunately. It was a little heavy on the salt and light on the chocolate chips; kinda soft, but mostly crispy. They have an extensive food menu, but I didn't dive into it. There's a decent amount of seating inside, a couple tables outside, good WiFi, and a friendly barista. I'd happily return to try more of that drink menu and maybe even have breakfast.
I used to be an early customer of their Mission Bay food truck location and I’m so happy they opened this brick and mortar restaurant 🙌🏼 Finally visited them today and I loved that the flavors I used to be addicted to are still the same as they were almost 3 years ago ❤️ I chose my old time favorites: the mash-up and the umami bomb 🥰 They have more items than they used to and I have no doubt they’re all amazing! Bonus point: the location is dog-friendly! 🐕
Really friendly staff!! Kind and approachable. I got the Coco De Mer which was sooo good, really nice dark chocolate flavor. There was a unique vibe to the place that I appreciated a lot!
My absolute favorite spot. I was super sad the previous owner had to close during COVID but low and behold SPRO really brought the next level. The coffee is excellent. I usually go for a spro and they have always been spot on. If you want some milk too, be prepared for some art and perfect temperature. Their inventive side is more science than you'd think. The cold fashion is a celebration of flavors really bringing the essence across and not a mere imitation. I am not for anything in my coffee but at SPRO i do venture into it. And their food happens to be spot on too. They use sugar sparingly, letting flavors speak for themselves. From the oatmeal to the umami bomb, go for it! Great spot to spend some time and try some stuff indoor or out watching the trams and people flow by.
really great coffee at spro - it definitely seems like they have good practices and dial in their coffee very well. vibes are great too!! tried an espresso shot, pour over, and one of their seasonal drinks (pixie dust) the espresso and pour over were both exactly what you want, they were well extracted and clean the pixie dust was really wild, it was like a latte but with strong citrus and spice flavors. honestly it’s not for everyone (and i’m still not sure how much i liked it myself) but i’m glad they’re having fun with it and trying to make drinks that might speak to a smaller audience
Had the vegan chocolate and banana loaf. It was really great and rich, much like the non vegan variant. The drip coffee to was fantastic, perfect for a cloudy day lift me up. My friend had the matcha latte and an avocado sandwich. She liked it too. Made for a good meal.
Great specialty espresso. They let you select from 4 or 5 different roasts for both espresso and pour over, which means I’ve got reason to come back! The space is a little small (fits maybe 15-20 people) but they have WiFi so you can work there.
I ordered Barista Competition Flight and it might have been the best espresso I’ve ever had (and trust me, I spent a lot of time in Italy). 21$ is a bit pricey for an espresso and cappuccino but it definitely is an experience and I would gladly do it again. I loved the vibe inside the cafe!
Stunning coffee and staff. We got two cortados and a hot chocolate and it was 10/10. The staff on Sat evening were so sweet :)
Delightful. Delicious. Different. I love this place! The Orange Blossom is so incredibly good. Lots of unique menu options and creative concoctions. Friendly folks with practiced barista hands. A great vibe and color scheme. My only complaint is I'm just visiting SF so I can't try the whole menu!
Lovely little coffee shop super close to Dolores Park. Really like their modern interior and large drink menu! Tried strawberry fields and it was super refreshing and flavorful. Salmon sandwich was to the point as well! Mild salty salmon, cream cheese, capers and lettuce - ideal proportions and great taste. Like outdoor seating when it’s sunny. The service is fast. They bring your order to your table even if you seat outside. Highly recommended!
SPRO is my favorite cafe in a city with many great options. You can see from my photos (not even everything I've ordered, apparently I consumed my food every time without taking a photo first) that I keep coming back, and have ordered most of the menu. The coffee and tea menu is divine. Not only is it the most creative list of coffee and latte variations that I've seen, they are impressively all well executed. Great sourcing of ingredients, additional components are made in house, no synthetically flavored syrups. Try the spro on its own with a few berries to complement, too. You won't get a burnt or overly acidic pull of espresso here, all the flavors are balanced and the staff are regularly calibrating things. Speaking of the staff, they are fantastic. The owners have put in so much care, curating not just a great food and drink selection but also a talented and friendly team. Whether I come with a friend or by myself, every visit to SPRO is a good one. Bonus: Great dog spotting! There's a lil menu for the pups 💜
One of my favorite cafes in the city and a great place to do work (they have both wifi and outlets)!! They have a very creative selection of drinks, including limited run seasonal ones. Every drink I've tried so far has been a hit. Everyone can find something they like. I highly recommend their umami bomb, one of the most unique and flavorful avacado toasts I've had in the city. Not that depending on the day/time, it might be difficult to find a seat (understandably!)
Great drip coffee and really great staff, quite a bit of seating really nice to sit down unwind and enjoy the area
Absolutely delicious food that blew my mind (loved everything but top favorites are Mash Up and Strawberry Guava Mochi Waffles). Best coffee hands down with extensive and unique menu. Wonderful service and wonderful people. Living two blocks away is officially dangerous for my wallet.
Their lattes are some of the best I've ever had. The coffee, milk, and sweetener (if you add any) perfectly balance each other out. I tried their PSL seasonal latte (Pumpkin Spice Latte) and it was phenomenal. I've also had their chicken bahn mi and some of their pastries. I highly recommend trying any of their food items. There's not much room inside to sit, but they have plenty of outdoor seating as well.
This cafe is around the corner from Dolores park, has great coffee (espresso drinks) and food, seating with outlets, and a bright setting. Plus a great bathroom! Their WiFi didn’t show up for me, but they do have the internet password at the counter, and xfinity works well there. They are quite busy so you do have to wait to order and receive your food or drink sometimes but in exchange you get quality drinks+food.
Cute vibes inside. Lots of interesting drinks -- it was hard to decide what to try! The person working the register was really patient with describing some of the drinks and making a recommendation. Additional plus is that they have some chicken treats for dogs.
SPRO is conveniently located close to Mission Dolores Park and has a modern and bright space. A decent amount of seats both inside and outside to enjoy their coffee or a light meal. they've got a long, interesting, and unique menu for both food and drinks. The menu can be a bit overwhelming, so definitely ask the baristas for recommendations, they are always nice and happy to help. Andy in particularly, and he has got superb latte art skills, big shout out to him! I've been here a few times over different trips to SF, and enjoyed my visits. The special menu drinks are usually latte size (12oz and 16oz) and the baristas accommodate my request to make it shorter.
Loved their single origin Ethiopian pour over coffee! I had it straight for three mornings. Food is tasty as well. I had toast and eggs and another pastry with eggs and bacon ,that I can't remember the name. Both were good. Small but great place to sit indoors or outdoors with your book, laptop etc.
Cute cafe/coffee shop in the Castro/Dolores area. My first experience with SPRO was in Mission Bay. This location is a full cafe. This location features a large selection of sandwiches, a few breakfast items, and a few pastries. I tried a turkey sandwich and a Mardi Gras drink. The sandwich was large and had a good mix of meat and vegetables. It was a bit dry and could of used a little more mayo or dressing. But I figured I should be healthy so I didn’t ask for more. I wish the sandwich came with a little salad or pickle, or have the option for $1 more, but the sandwich alone was filling. The cold brew drink was tasty! They specialize in creative coffee and tea drinks that you can’t find elsewhere. Instead of just adding a syrup, they use other items like reductions, herbs, sparkling water, and natural ingredients. I’d highly recommend trying one of their specialty drinks! I really enjoyed the cold brew. It’s hard to find a good, strong cold brew, and they nailed it. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to offer suggestions. You don’t see this type of service in most places. My only wish is that they had more seating. But I’ll be back soon!
Delicious, hearty breakfast with high quality ingredients and so many fun drinks—stuck with the classics this time around but wish I could try them all! First time visiting the brick and mortar after years of going to the food truck at Spark Social in Soma back when I worked nearby. Stumbled upon while searching for breakfast spots on Google maps and was delighted to find this a 1 min walk from Dolores Park nearby to our Airbnb. Staff were friendly and thoughtful, giving me a heads up that while the Italian sausage was fully cooked, it might still look a bit pink inside due to being cooked 24 hours sous vide. They assured me it was really good, and they were right! Had to take the second sausage to go and it was great breakfast the next day.
Had the vegan chocolate and banana loaf. It was really great and rich, much like the non vegan variant. The drip coffee to was fantastic, perfect for a cloudy day lift me up. My friend had the matcha latte and an avocado sandwich. She liked it too. Made for a good meal.

I feel like the coffee/specialty drinks can be hit or miss, and during peak times it can be hard to find seating. As a cafe, their extensive food menu is pretty unique. They have more than just the typical cafe food of toast and sandwiches. I mean they also have toast and sandwiches, but they put their own fancy spin on things. I haven’t tried anything else because I ALWAYS get the avocado toast. It’s embarrassing how many times I’ve gotten the avocado toast since it feels like one of those things that I should just make at home. But this one is elevated. They call it the “umami bomb” and it has the perfect balance of savory, sweet and sour (from the ponzu, and ~umami~ (I think from truffle oil), and is topped with (optional) ikura roe. This is the epitome of the avocado toast.
The brew was clean and simple, with a mild flavor that felt straightforward. The aroma was faint, pleasant but not strong enough to linger. The body was thin, making it easy to drink but lacking depth. Overall, fine but not exciting.
Good coffee, nice flavor combinations, not too sweet, pricy. I wouldn’t do a $6-$7 small latte regularly, but it’s a nice treat. The rose cardamom latte was tasty, not overpowering, and is made with a house-made syrup. The cardamom was a little gritty but it was fine. It’s a bright, clean space, I didn’t find it unpleasantly sterile. There’s counter seating, but it’s not a super comfortable space where I’d want to sit and work at length.
Spro is a hip coffee bar along Church Street corridor. They offer the classic coffee drinks, tea and chai with choices of milk. Their special drink menu offers coffee mixology magic! Their combos read like a composed dish. I came in for a cold chai with almond milk. Got a brown butter chocolate chip cookie 🍪 too. The patrons are hipsters with their dogs 🐶. Def the Mission District set looking to people watch. And this is a nice sunny spot! There are two tables out in front providing a great watchers perspective. Spro has a huge glass front for natural light. Will come back for a Hong Kong milk tea or Strawberry Fields (has muddled strawberries!). Breakfast food looks tasty too! Impressed!
The Madagascar latte was great! The milk was steamed and frothed to silky smooth perfection. 😋 The lemon bar had a strong egg smell, otherwise tasted good. Would definitely revisit if I'm in the neighborhood.

Their tea drinks are good, and I like the umami bomb. However, 18$ plus tip for a fairly small serving of fancy avocado toast is too much. I haven't really enjoyed any of the other food items. The sous vide egg thing (hard yolk, runny white???, no salt or vinegar) is in my opinion super gross.
This place is the perfect example of making cute food with interesting ingredients but not properly executing a comprehensive dish. I order the "mash up" which of course was immediately cold like any fancy breakfast ordered in SF. The sous vide egg is somehow both over and undercooked. But most disappointing is that this dish has both truffle and togarashi. Pick one! The are fighting each other and it makes it just taste weird. Bread is also very undertoasted. This dish would have been better if the only seasoning used was garlic salt and nice butter. I got the hong kong milk tea to drink and the drink menu is very impressive. I just wish these restaurants would chill out with using interesting ingredients until they know how to use them.
Food was amazing. I got the spinach and artichoke pastry and the umami bomb. The matcha latte (geisha) was just milk and very disappointing.
It’s a decent place to grab a good cup of coffee and leave as soon as possible. However, it’s significantly overpriced if you want to get food and actually enjoy the moment. The environment is poorly designed and maintained, the food wasn’t good, and the staff is careless. Customers are expected to clean up after themselves, even though there’s nothing in the interior indicating this. In the end, the barista points you to an airport-like basket in a far, dirty corner and asks you to leave your dishes there. I find this rude. Design your environment accordingly. Two light bulbs were blinking and extremely annoying. While we were sitting there, one of the customers climbed onto a chair to remove them. The staff acted as if this were completely normal. Honestly, I was shocked. How can you expect tips from customers and not even handle something as small as fixing blinking lights? Please do better. I think you can. 🖤

Ordered two sandwiches to share for brunch, but it was underwhelming. It took over 15 minutes despite no other sandwich orders. The toast was small, the sourdough tasted stale, and it felt overpriced for something so basic. Judging from past reviews, the sandwiches here seem hit or miss—mostly miss.
one of the more inventive coffee places in the city with lots of unique options to try out. however, i was pretty disappointed with the drink I got. might try again to try the more simple coffees but not rushing to go back anytime soon. service was also pretty bad - not only was it hard to get the workers attention, but they really acted like they didn’t want to be there pixie dust: it tasted too strongly of the added ingredients and took away from the espresso itself.

I visited Coffee Spro on Church Street and was disappointed. I spent $26 on a decaf latte and a paper-thin avocado toast that came completely unseasoned. They didn’t even have salt when I asked. The staff seemed more interested in chatting than serving customers. Overall, I felt it was overpriced for the poor service and quality.
