Opinions de Blind Butcher San Francisco
Was looking for a place to eat at and found this gold mine. The place was packed but luckily I made a reservation. The cocktails were made to perfection. The lamb lollipops were so good and tasty. The brussel sprouts were out of this world. The short ribs fell right off the bone. The filet mignon was the best I ever had and I could not believe how delightful it was. I will be coming back at least 3-4 a month.
If you come here, you absolutely need to order the Slow Braised Short Rib and the Lobster Mac & Cheese, these two dishes are to die for. The short rib is incredibly tender and packed with flavor, sitting on a bed of super smooth mashed potatoes. The sauce from the short rib pairs perfectly with the mash, making each bite even better. As for the lobster mac & cheese, they serve generous chunks of lobster, and the mac and cheese itself is rich, creamy, and full of flavor. Both dishes are must tries and definitely worth sharing or keeping all to yourself.
Friendly place with great food. I had the Ribeye steak was 10/10. Hubby had the filet mignon steak 9/10. Lobster Mac and cheese 7/10 needs little more flavor. The staff were super friendly and kind. Needless to say we will definitely be back.
We went here in our first date night since having a baby and it was perfect. The food is a 10/10, our server was incredible, and the atmosphere was lively/sexy and intimate.
Found this place on maps after a day of vintage shopping. Was drawn in by the menu and food pictures. My wife made a reservation for the place. I ordered the wagyu burger with fries and my wife, rosemary chicken. We also ordered Brussels sprouts and Mac n cheese without the lobster. The Mac n cheese was the bomb…. So much cheesy goodness!!! The wagyu burger was delicious, excellent meat quality. The Brussels sprouts will tasty as well. The rosemary chicken was a bit salty for my wife - she’s a bit sensitive to salt, but the chicken dish was very good. I finished it because the sauce was amazing. She did love the sauce as well and likes it better than another place we went to. We would come back and try the lamb and other dishes!!!
Truly grateful to be at Blind Butcher every Thu–Fri–Sat | 7:30 PM – 10:30 PM 🎧 There’s nothing like soulful house music meeting the incredible flavors of Chef Coskun’s dishes 🍽️ 👌🏻Perfect nights with great food, great vibes!🥂
Had dinner at The Blind Butcher and it did not disappoint. I ordered the chicken, meatballs, and brussels sprouts , every bite was flavorful and cooked to perfection. The chicken was juicy, the meatballs were super tender, and the brussels had that perfect crispy char. Great vibe inside too , cozy, moody, and perfect for a night out. Will definitely be back to try the steak next time!
Perfect way to celebrate a birthday or just a nice date night. Great food. Great drinks. Great service.
Beefsteak tastes very nice! Love the mashed potatoes in short rib most. Lobster and cheese also taste good though a little greasy when we finished half of them. Smaller plate should be provided at least as an option.
They have very good food at a great location near Castro. Their staff were friendly and attentive. The interior is very cute. Dim lighting also makes it a good romantic dinner spot.
Delicious food and cocktails! The service was amazing and the atmosphere was fun yet refined. We had a 5pm reservation on a weekday and our waitress sat us right away. She was friendly and had some great recommendations. Definitely will come back!

Omg so happy that I came back! Even better than the first time. Absolutely delicious. The lamb chop appetizer is incredible. Everything was perfect. Buratta lovely, shishido peppers very good as well! Branzino entree was fantastic! See you soon!
A wonderful dining experience in the Castro. A delicious “meatcentric” restaurant offers up the goods, especially with its seafood. The octopus was cooked perfectly and I definitely appreciated the portion size. One of the best Ive ever had. The truffle lobster mac and cheese is sinfully good and a must try. Nothing more needs to be said about the mac. The steak had a wonderful flavor except it was a bit gristle for my taste. The wagyu meatballs again tasted good but were too tough for me. The wine selection is great and the dessert slapped. Couple all of that with great service and this place is a must visit.
There may be some debate whether or not this steak was medium rare, rare, or blue. But I ordered medium well so I could share with my wife. It was delicious but she didn't get to enjoy as much as she would have liked. The potatoes were perfect and her ravioli with, i think prosciutto, was delicious too. My personal favorite was the brussel sprouts. My wife typically likes one or two to sample my food or "for taste" but she ate a lot more than her usual one or two. The food here is great! Service. Service was something else. She tried to be friendly and A for effort. But we were sitting at the bar and it took a little long just to order. I mean, i understand you have 6 drink orders to make and each seemed to be 2 drinks each. But about 5min AFTER going through every item on the menu and placing the menu down to indicate to the bartender within arm's each that we were ready to order did she finally get to us. That and bluish rare when we ordered medium-well, sitting at the bar might not be the best option. What i gathered watching the actual servers at the tables, you might get better service at a table. Lastly, too many chairs at the bar. My wife and I were sitting so close we touching from knee to shoulder and i had to lean away from her just to use my other arm. And still i we getting slapped by the hair of the lady next to me and she and i were accidentally bumping elbows and utensils. I'd sat only slightly more room than economy class on a plane. The lady next to me was a good sport about it and i used to be in the military (no personal space) so it wasn't an issue. But i understand that may not be enough room to enjoy one's food for some. If so, don't sit at the bar.
Blind Butcher was a delightful culinary adventure! From the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted with warm hospitality and attentive service that made us feel right at home. The menu was a tempting array of dishes, each more enticing than the last. We decided to start with the lamb lollipops, and oh my, what a decision that was! These succulent, perfectly seasoned bites were so incredibly delicious that we ended up ordering them three times throughout the evening. They were truly the highlight of our meal! The rest of our selections were equally impressive. Each dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor, showcasing the chef's creativity and expertise. While the ambiance was a bit loud for my taste, it didn't detract from the overall enjoyment of our experience. If you're looking for a restaurant with exceptional service, mouthwatering food, and a lively atmosphere, Blind Butcher is definitely worth checking out. And don't forget to order the lamb popsicles – you won't regret it!
Very cute yet small interior, also very dark but the lamps were nice. Pretty good food, highly recommend the lamb lollipops and truffle mac n cheese. The butcher’s potatoes were severely under salted, bringing the food score down. Service was nice and decently fast during busy hours.
The filet mignon was the star, super delicious. The wagyu meatball spaghetti was extremely underwhelming, the wagyu meatballs were the size of softballs, therefore dry and you couldn't tell if it t was turkey meat or wagyu. The butchers potatoes were soft and soggy with little flavor also.. Beautiful setting, nice staff and service
Food: Very very nicely seasoned. Personally love the prawns. Service: The staff is very warm. We arrived around 9:30pm yet the staff still let us in and sit us down . This table is deep in the restaurant, in front of the kitchen counter and restroom. Ambiance: They have a DJ at the door and the all ambiance is great!

Blind Butcher is the kind of place you stumble into and immediately feel like you made the right choice. It has that laid-back but trendy San Francisco vibe—dark interiors, good music, and a crowd that feels very local. It’s a solid spot for a casual night out, whether you’re grabbing dinner with friends or just want good food without anything too pretentious. The menu focuses heavily on meat, and they do it well. Everything was flavorful, well-cooked, and clearly made with quality ingredients. Portions are satisfying, and the flavors are bold without being overwhelming. Service was friendly and knowledgeable, though the wait can stretch a bit during busy hours, which keeps it from being a full 5 stars. Overall, Blind Butcher delivers a great experience and is definitely worth a stop if you’re exploring the city’s food scene beyond the usual tourist spots.

It's American / Italian restaurant with good variety of dishes. Indoor and limited outdoor seatings. Busy narrow paths make it a bit hard to accessible. Free and paid street parking available in close by streets. It's a pricy place just take a look at the menu. Perhaps most expensive burger I've ever had and was just OK. Caramelized onion makes anything delicious! Service was OK, good to have reservation to avoid long waiting.

Didn't love the food but maybe I ordered the wrong things - octopus wasn't cooked great. Meat was fine. Drinks and wine selection is good. Not sure about the ambiance as it wasn't as good as others have described, maybe I was there too early? You can have a conversation.
My husband and I went to the restaurant last night (Jan 2), and the ambience was cute and charming. There was a DJ playing, but the music was a little too loud for the space—we couldn’t really hear each other or even the waiter. Customer service was TERRIBLE. Our waiter had an attitude the entire time, making us feel like he was doing us a favor, while being extremely nice and attentive to the table behind us. He never informed us of the kitchen’s closing time, but when we ordered our dishes around 9:15 p.m., he rudely asked if that was all, since they were “about to close the kitchen” (the restaurant closes at 10 p.m.). Keep in mind they have an open kitchen, and we literally saw the sous-chef spitting in the sink five times—IN AN OPEN KITCHEN!! That was disgusting. The food was okay, but nothing “wow.” We spent $200 and still had to stop at a fast-food place afterward because we were hungry. We’re definitely not coming back. It was very disappointing.
Upon arrival for my reservation for two (me and a work colleague) I asked if we could take the two available seats at the bar to which the host and waitstaff argued that my table was reserved and ready and questioned why I wouldn’t take the table. The restaurant was slow that evening, had a lively bar, and near empty dining room upon our 7p arrival. It all went down hill from there. We were seated at the bar and but for water, were ignored for the first 15 minutes while bartender refilled water glasses and wine glasses for others around us. When I asked to place a drink order the response was “I’ll be right with you”. Finally a drink order was placed and bartender kept pressing us to place a food order. After being asked for a food order 3 times between the time I ordered my cocktail and receiving it, we placed our food order before taking the first sip of my cocktail. At that point service was done. Dinner was delivered, I finished my martini and sipped water as no further service was offered. I received the bill and left a 15% tip which is less than my usual 20%. Staff felt it necessary to step outside and insult us as we stood out front waiting for our uber. What a disappointing dinner for our one night in town!
