My forever comforting place to eat. Back when I was in Vietnam, bun moc has always been my favorite dish and Bun Moc Ong Ta is the closest to what I had in my homeland. The broth is just so amazing, no other place can beat it, and also, I like the way they made their moc from pork paste (sorry in Hanoi they made moc from minced pork & mushroom), but this is southern style bun moc and I definitely prefer this version more. You have to try bun moc here and thanks me later

I've been wanting to try this place for a while, but the afternoon crowds always deterred me. So, I decided to come early on a Saturday morning, and I'm glad I did! There were plenty of seats available, and the service was quick and efficient. The menu is simple, but that's what makes it so appealing. The banh cuon was the star of the show. The texture was perfect, and the flavor was even better than I remember from Tay Ho. The bun moc was a delightful surprise. It was simple, but the flavors were so well-balanced. The restaurant was also very clean, with tables being cleared promptly. I'll definitely be back to try more of their offerings!

Great tasting food and it's affordable! Would return again. The portions are very generous! I was super stuffed. I also ordered Jasmin Tea and it reminded me of the fragrant Jasmine Tea from HeyTea.

Got to visit Ong Ta Banh Cuon Bun Moc (banh cuon is freshly steamed rice rolls filled with grounded pork, onions, spices & chopped dried mushrooms) is located in the Vietnam Town Shopping Plaza. Ordered to go #1 special Bánh Cuốn Đặc Biệt – which had delicate chew, juicy bits of pork and veggies giving a burst of flavor accompanied with fresh bean sprouts, mint, herbs and other sides, all meant to be dipped or drizzled in a prepared savory fish sauce (add on chili sauce and fried shallots for umami) Taste: 4.8 / 5 stars Portion size: generous - one to go portion was enough for two Likely the best in San Jose as I’ve been living in the NorCal area for over 35 years now and hadn’t come across a banh cuon restaurant with not only generous portions but tasty combinations of various fried grounded pork patties and steamed pork patties (cha) & nem (cured pork patties) etc - four different types total plus a deep fried sweet potato shrimp cake to top it off. Would I visit again? Absolutely 👍 Recommend to family & friends: for sure 😋 To go order total: under $18 USD On a separate note, love to ski, ride & good eats? 👉 SnowPals Dot Org since ‘99

A friend recommended that we try this place out, and that's what we did. We were not hungry as we just ate, but since it was close by, we had to come. It is located in the Vietnam Town Plaza among many restaurants and drink places. I knew this place was legit when I saw the jug of nuoc mam at each table. We just decided to get the #1, Banh Cuon Dat Biet, which had a little bit of everything. The rice roll here is pretty good, and you can tell it's freshly made. It's definitely worth a try. I only wished we were really hungry when we came.

got the rice rolls #1 and it was delicious. came at like 1:30pm and they were all sold out of their appetizers like spring rolls, pork skin rolls, bo bie, etc. for sure will be coming back at an earlier time to try the appetizers

This small scale shop has a focused menu of a few items that done right. We order the 2 specialty items: bún mọc and bánh cuốn. Both were very tasty with generous portion, and the meat balls and chả (vietnamese sausage) were plenty. More northern vietnamese flavours. They have fish sauce and chilli on the table to self serve to taste. Service was fast and waiters were quick to clean up after every guest group leaves.

Stumbled upon this place while waiting for a friend in the Vietnamese plaza. The place was packed and the food looked really amazing so, we came back to try it for Sunday brunch. Come early as they do get busy. Indoor and outdoor seating are available. Service is quick and food comes out fast. We ordered the bahn cuon special and also a beef stew. The portions are large and very shareable. Truly enjoyed the food and coffee.

The best banh chin and bun rieu ever. Portions are large and the taste of the bun rieu is out of this world. I love the generous portions of rieu and the broth is very flavorful. The addition of ruoc and tamarind sauce is a nice compliment.

This place is my top new spot for rice rolls which are their specialty. I ordered the special rice roll ( Bánh Cuốn Đặc Biệt) The quality was excellent, and the serving size was large.

I would definitely come just for the bahn cuon. This is the first time I had it this good. They also have real spring rolls and summer rolls which are delicious as well. I'm assuming this is almost as authentic as it gets. I came here for a Monday lunch and the place was bussin like crazy.

Jan 29, 2026 According to my mom and family, this is the best banh cuon place in San Jose. I do like their dac biet, which is their special. I think a major highlight is that their steamed rice roll is very thin and velvety compared to other places. Recently they got shut down by the health inspector so now is a really good time to eat there y'all. No lines and you know they're gonna be clean as hell to keep up. We also are currently at 20% off to bring back customers. They now leave their fish sauce on the table, thank God, so we don't have to ask for extra

Busy for lunch even after 2pm on a Friday. We ordered 2 banh cuon beef, additional fried potatoes with shrimp a bun moc noodle soup. Food arrived quickly. The soup was new to us, gave a variety of meatballs to try, noodles really thin and the produce on the side was nice. The banh cuon was fine, I prefer a softer noodle. Service was nice and efficient.

This place is popular; you can tell it from its concise menu, which has no more than five sheets. The menu is simple, specialized, and affordable, but what's even better is that the food is delicious. Due to the place's popularity, I suggest going on a weekday, arriving early, or not going there too hungry. The staff makes a great effort to serve all customers promptly and attentively, even when there is a long queue. They don't pressure you to finish your food quickly or keep track of you with the check when they serve you your food. The place could be improved by having more tables and space inside.

The restaurant is small and short on staff. There’s only 1 cleaning staff and he’s a middle aged uncle, so if you come in and find the table dirty or not clear of previous customer’s plates, be patient standing next to the table. The uncle will eventually come. First time come in, we didn’t know that sitting by the table waiting for orders to be taken means dine-in, and lining up before the cashier means take-out. I saw a long line, so I went to line up and order. We chose a table and waited for 20 minutes only to have our orders in takeout plastic bag. The food is good though. We ordered one Special Banh Cuon and one Banh canh thit. My husband likes the Banh cuon, but the fiah sauce is too spicy to me. On the other hand, I really like Banh canh. Will come again, and this time we will wait patiently at the table for the waiter :)

I like the banh cuon, banh canh, bo kho here. The foods are good with their prices. The people are nice too just they don't dress up with the uniforms. The foods come out quickly too. It is a nice place to din out with some types of Vietnamese Traditional food.

I Came to Vietnam Town to check out Bun Rieu Cua Thanh Dinh but it was closed even though it said open on the Google site. Anyways, I Noticed that this Banh Cupn Bun Moc Ong Ta is right next door with many people eating outside seemingly popular and definitely packed so I decided to meet up with my friend here for Lunch. It was my first time eating here, although I have passed by the restaurant plenty of times. The place is always super busy, can be quite the wait but I guess it was worth it since customers can walk around, lounge out, and chat while waiting for their food. I ordered a special combination Rice Roll ( Banh Cuon) and my friend ordered the popular Bun Rieu Spicy Noodle Soup. Overall we enjoyed our food. Spicy and flavorful. The portions and prices are right. The restaurant is a bit small but it great that they offered indoor/outdoor dining. I would like to return and try the Bun Moc, Bun Rieu, or their Bun Mam.

Our favorite place to their rice roll, especially the #1 Banh Cuon Dac Biet. There seems to be always a line waiting for tables. But they have a lot of tables outside. Often it is just they are short on staff in cleaning up the tables.

Banh cuon is one of my favorites, so I was looking forward to this place while visiting from out of town. We beat the afternoon rush (line) though the place was already packed. I ordered the #1 banh cuon dac biet. It was good, but not extraordinary. My mom had the bi cuon and she noted that they put ground black pepper in it, which is not what you'd normally do. I'm glad I came here, but there is no reason to come back.

We waited in line for 25 minutes , sat down and they said the rice roll takes 30min, we said ok. We waited for 30min they came to ask if we want the non rice roll now. We said yes. Then we waited another 15min still no rice roll, we asked them when, they said another 20 min. I said you said it was gonna be 30 when we ordered. Then they said another 14min. Is this a math problem?? Where did that come from? After an hour waiting, we got the rice roll and it was very mediocre. Idk why dim sum has instant rice rolls but here takes an hour. We only got water refill once. The restaurant wasn’t the cleanest. One staff did help with the sun shade so that was nice.
