It was on my list for sometime , finally tried their 1/2 pound Jalapeno Wagyu Double smash Burger with Fried Egg with Fries. It was exceptional. Very fresh and delicious meat. Bun was also not super thick. Jalapeno takes flavor to next level. I took all the sauces with Fries. Chiptole Ranch and Spicy sauce were good. Must try if are around.
Iconic burger joint know for their wagyu smash burger patty style and shakes. Their menu is pretty diverse from Wagyu burgers, hotdogs, and chili cheese fries. However, the burgers are the stars of the show – each burger is made with a Wagyu smash patty that is pressed thinly and placed on a potato bun. I’ve never been to a smash burger place where the patty was so gigantic that it was larger than the bun overall! You can choose a burger with 1/4lb (single patty) or 1/2lb (double patty). I got the 1/2 lb Mushroom Swiss Wagyu burger meal ($23) which came with the burger, strawberry watermelon lemonade and choice of fries, onion rings or tater tots. It was the best mushroom burger I’ve ever had. It came with two enormous Wagyu patties, a generous layer of sautéed garlic butter mushrooms, caramelized grilled onions and mayo. To start, the Maillard grilling on the Wagyu burger was perfect – the meat had great texture and some crunchy bits on the edges and was salted perfectly. Wagyu meat is naturally fatty and you could taste it in the patty. The mushroom had a strong mushroom and garlic flavor which I enjoyed tasting every bite – the mushroom flavor accompanied the meatiness of the patty extremely well. The caramelized onions added sweetness to the overall flavor of the burger on top of the garlicky flavor from the mushroom while the mayo added creaminess. Lastly, the potato bun is the perfect bun choice for the burger. The burger did get soggy because of the juices from the meat and mushroom, but the integrity of the bun was maintained and the potato added a subtle sweetness and chewiness but firmness to the burger. The onion rings came with a cup of ranch and had a great batter around it that held the ranch well. The strawberry watermelon lemonade was refreshing to drink and refresh my palette while eating the heavy Wagyu burger. It mainly tasted like strawberry with a hint of watermelon. It is slightly sweeter than I liked and would have been better if slightly more tart. They also have extremely great staff and service – the staff checked in on my cousin and I periodically while we were eating to check if we were enjoying the food and after we finished they took away our trays. They even offered to refill our drinks for us after they saw us leaving. I’m interested in trying the peanut butter Wagyu burger or their 8 minute Wagyu burger challenge next time.
Craving a good burger led me to @6thstreetburger in Downtown San Jose 🍔🔥 The double cheeseburger was juicy and packed with flavor, and those crispy, seasoned fries hit the spot. I washed food down with a refreshing mango lemonade. 😋 No wonder SJSU students love coming here for a quick bite! 📍 Sixth Street Burger - 235 E Santa Clara St #112, San Jose, CA 95113
In my opinion this is the spot for a perfect smash Wagyu burger! Juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection, you can taste the quality in every bite. The prices are surprisingly reasonable for such premium beef, making it a great value and an absolute must-try for burger lovers.
I've been driving by this place for a while now and it smells incredible. Finally had a chance to try it out and the burger, fries, and shakes were great. Their spicy sauce also had a perfect amount of kick.
Bustling burger joint with an awesome vibe. Super positive staff, enthusiastic service, good music, clean place with folks walking the floor taking care of customer’s. Sitting on the edge of the SJSU campus Sixth Street Burger is conveniently located downtown. I was greeted at the counter by Evita. I easy knew I was all in for the 1/2 lb. Wagyu smash burger. I also had to have the tallow fries. Evita recommended their lemonades—the strawberry/watermelon lemonade filled the square on this hot day. The verdict: 🔥 Tallow fries—yup you came here for that. The smash—great meat to bun ratio that just melds together. All you can drink lemonades—yum. If they stop by your table and offer some of their hot sauce—try it. You should come enjoy a piece of burger heaven :)
This is the real deal! Coming from a foodie, this is hands down the best burger in this area. The burger, fries, onion rings and milkshakes made with Marianne's ice cream were amazingly delicious!! The food was super fresh and made with quality ingredients. The balance of flavors was spot on! Staff are awesome and enjoy what they do! We will be back for sure! Made it back for a second round and took photos to share. Again, the food was super fresh. Just a delicious experience. Even the tacos were amazing, the burger meat with crisp cheese and salsa! Whew.... delicious 😋
Tried Sixth Street Burger for the first time and was super impressed! The burger (1/2 lb Wagyu Double Smash Cheeseburger, added lettuce) was extremely tasty and fries/rings combo as well. And the staff were AMAZING! They were very kind and went above and beyond to provide excellent service. Even the owner came to check on us and was very friendly. Definitely a must try, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED 👏👏
A most epic experience at 6th street burger today with my daughters. It was amazing having fresh wagyu smash burgers. The fries were amazing and my daughters split a blueberry cheesecake milkshake made with Mariana‘s ice cream, doesn’t really get better than that. The service was friendly and accommodating, Ricky helped us and was super informative and gave me the house sauce which was fire!!!! The food came out quick. and you can tell it was made fresh, I definitely be coming back. This place is awesome.
Saw this place on a commercial so tried it out. They show off their tallow fried fries and they are indeed pretty good. Their smash burgers are quite strong, would say it's in the top 10 or so I've had in the area. Pricing wise it's fair as well and while I didn't try it, their shakes did seem nice.
Legit. Had 1/4lb wagyu smash burger and tallow fries/rings "halfsies". So curious about the tacos. Heard how they were made by a very passionate employee. Will need to try next time. Everyone I chatted with was so happy. Legit.
If you’re searching for a burger that packs a punch in both flavor and attitude, 6th Street Burgers is a destination you won’t want to miss. My recent visit left me thoroughly impressed—and a little bit messy, in the best way possible. The burger I ordered was a feast for the senses. The patty itself was juicy and perfectly seared, with a satisfying char that hinted at a well-seasoned grill. Slathered in a gooey, rich cheese sauce that clung to every bite, the burger was decadence on a bun. What truly set it apart, though, were the toppings: thick, crispy strips of bacon brought a smoky crunch, while fresh slices of jalapeño added a bold kick that lingered just long enough to keep things interesting. The presentation was rustic and inviting, served on checkered paper that soaked up the flavorful drippings. Each bite was a harmonious blend of creamy, spicy, and savory notes, making it clear that 6th Street Burgers doesn’t cut corners on quality or creativity. The bun was soft but sturdy enough to hold up under the generous toppings and sauce—a small but crucial detail that burger aficionados will appreciate. While the burger is unapologetically indulgent, it’s exactly what you crave when you want comfort food done right. For anyone who loves their burgers with a side of bold flavors and a touch of heat, 6th Street Burgers delivers an experience that is unlikely to be forgotten.
This place is unreal! This burger is the best burger I have ever had! The beef was so flavorful and the sauce in it was soo tasty, and just everything about it was so perfect! I got the banana milkshake too and it was amazing! You need to try this ASAP!

Came for for lunch on a Friday and was very satisfied for the price. Triple burger was delicious and wait time was five minutes or so and was packed, busy. There is a kiosk you can self order on as that may help. Mango lemonade was fantastic as well. Clean establishment and great ambiance. Staff was very amicable and constantly checking to make sure we didn't need anything.
Met the owner just now. First time here. Ordered the Wagyu Burger and banana milkshake. Everything was very efficient and the owner was amazing. Food was top quality and this is my new spot to go to for amazing burger. Highly recommend to anyone in the San Jose downtown area. Won't find better than here.
Brought 47 of us from our gym here for a Friday night dinner & everyone was raving about the burgers. The jalapeño bacon burger specifically. Great service, extremely clean all the way down to the restrooms & the food was fresh & cooked to order using quality ingredients. They even walked around & passed out chocolate chip cookies to the kiddos before we left which I thought was a nice personal touch! We will be back!!
This burger was really tasty, and the onion rings were delicious! I think the fact that they cook them in tallow is what made the difference. It's family owned and operated :) The atmosphere was very comfortable, and parking was easy! This is going to be a regular spot for my burger cravings!!!
We had an awesome lunch at Sixth Street Burger! I ordered the double cheeseburger with fries and a chocolate milkshake, and everything was spot-on. The burger was incredibly meaty, juicy, and packed with flavor—exactly what a great burger should be. The chocolate milkshake was rich, creamy, and full of delicious flavor, and the fries were the perfect side. Overall, it was a very filling and satisfying meal. We will definitely be coming back for another great lunch!
Husband and I come here regularly, and we've never had a bad experience. All of the food is spectacular, and the owner Ricky really cares about his customers. Do yourself a favor and get the milkshake (the banana and the Oreo flavors are our favorites), and the chili cheese fries are so good. Obviously, the burgers are amazing!
I asked AI for a recommendation on a burger place while I was in San Jose and this place was offered up likely based on the reviews of others. I gave it a shot and was not disappointed. The smashed burger was delicious with a unique pickle and sauce. The fries were good, and the onion rings were okay - not that there was something wrong with them but because I’m spoiled by a local place in Sacramento that has the best onion rings ever and kinda ruined anyone else’s for me. They have this really delicious jalapeño ranch sauce that was so good with the rings and the fries - I need to try it with a burger next time. The staff was very attentive and pleasant, and I think this was partly due the likely owner working and keeping everything running smooth in there - including helping take our garbage and making sure the cashier/servers up front were not getting too distracted behind the counter that they overlook a patron - he definitely seemed to be wanting his kitchen and front end to be on their game…which was noticeable and appreciated by me as a customer. Also, the place was super clean, including their restroom (which is always a good way to tell how dedicated the restaurant is to keeping a cleanly establishment). Will definitely come back again when we visit in the future.
My favorite burger joint in the town. Unapologetic straight forward smash burgers. Good crusting, fresh ingredients. Staff is very nice and everything I've tried in this place is delicious. I'd give it five thumbs up if I had more than two.
Stopped by the corner of Sixth and E Santa Clara and ordered the 1/4 pound double smash burger combo for $21 and charge. The burger was pretty oily, which stood out right away. The oil was practically pooled in the paper wrap. It had a decent flavor, but nothing too memorable. The fries were the highlight—crispy, well-seasoned, and really satisfying. If I go back, it’ll be mostly for those fries. Which is unfortunate, I was really hoping to find a new burger go to spot.
So I went to this place with my mom while running errands. I had seen it before and I wanted to try it out so we stopped by one afternoon. The parking can be difficult depending on time of day, as its on the corner of Sixth and Santa Clara, but in the middle of the day there was a decent amount of (metered) parking nearby. The service was good, quick and the woman at the register helped us hone in on what we might enjoy as first timers. We both got smash burgers with their house "six sauce" and an order of tallow fries and onion rings to share. I also got a strawberry milkshake that was fantastic! made with Marianne's ice cream. I found both the fries and onion rings to be enjoyable however my mother did not and wished for more Jack in the box-like fries (her favorite, take that however you want it). I found the rings to be good. a good crisp batter, a nice grilled onion inside with plenty of flavor on both and the tallow fries were crispy and tasty as well. The problem we both had was with the smash burger and sauce. In addition to the sauce we got lettuce and tomato on them and we both felt that the sauce and lettuce/tomato took away from the flavor of the burger itself. The six sauce is very mustard-forward and as someone who can take or leave mustard it was sort of off-putting and my mother who loves mustard still thought it tasted too much of it. We both tried pieces of the burger without anything on it and agreed it tasted really good by itself and i would suggest that anyone going get the burger plain or at least ask for the sauce on the side and make up your mind that way. Overall a positive experience and worth a shot if you're in the area craving a burger.

Decent burger that wont let you down when you want something good. Burger was a solid 4.1/5. Its your normal five guys type of environment.
I've got recommended this place by a coworker and decided to try it out. First, the presentation is neat and clean, services are friendly, place are bright and tidy. Next, i got the double smash ans nothing is special about it besides the “wagyu” meat, the jalapenos burger is better a little bit as more sauce and spicy taste. Next, the onion rings feel like it sit in the fryer longer than normal as the color isn’t bright and one of it looks like it almost burn, tastes so-so too. I would give credit for the mango lemonade, it is solid, balance. Will I come back? No unless they improve on their stuffs.

I ate the breakfast sandwich with sausage. That was actually the only appealing item on their menu. It tasted perfectly acceptable. I am utterly baffled by this restaurant's concept. It bills itself as a quality burger joint. But all of their burgers insist on using Wagyu beef, exclusively. This makes absolutely no sense. Wagyu is an exceptionally high quality beef; it is famous for its richness, and marbling. None of the aspects of Wagyu persist through the meat grinding process. Yuck.
Got here when they opened on a Sunday, ordered 2 burgers ahead of time for pickup, but they told us it was going to take a while. They weren’t ready to cook burgers until 30 mins after their opening time, which…sure, take your time. But after waiting 30+ minutes after opening, one burger arrived completely cold. The other was a normal temperature. Although we ordered pickup, we ate it right outside after receiving it. Do NOT get the spicy sauce. It has zero flavor and ends up being the type of spice that isn’t really spicy but leaves a really bitter aftertaste and that’s it. The whole point of a smash burger is the crispy bits on the edges of the patty, but there were not crispy bits, and again, it was cold despite being the first order of the day….?? This was one of the worst burgers I’ve had, unfortunately. The fries were just okay, but lacked salt. The inside is clean, and looks like a place I would sit down at, but unfortunately the burger was npt worth it.
