Food tastes like home Food, Yummy. The staff is polite and courteous. Very friendly atmosphere.
Delicious food! Must try goat curry here.
Well prepared dishes at great prices, Punjab Cafe’s Chicken Biryani is to die for! The atmosphere is welcoming, service is quick and the food is always banger. The owner and staff are friendly and good natured. Would recommend for authentic dishes.
If you love food that comforts your soul than this is the only option when it comes to north indian cuisines the quality of the taste is like mother or grandma cooking from the fresh ingredients well spiced mouth watering recipes this place deserves more stars, upon entering this restaurant you are greeted with an inviting hospitality the menu is listed with so many delicious choices the owner is so humble and respectful the staff are always polite and very fast with the orders and never get my order wrong me and my family always look foward everyweek to eating either our favorite butter chicken or coconut curry chicken paired with any rotti paratha or naan and always trying something new each week
In town for Superbowl LX Ordered takeout. The street was closed for whatever reason. I panicked not being firm the area. I called the restaurant and the manager walked my order out and over to where I was waiting in my vehicle nearby!!! Outstanding!! And the food was delicious!! Thank you for going above!
When I moved to sj I checked out all the Indian restaurants in the area. Punjab Cafe is by far the best of them. The food is flavorful and tasty. Service is always great and quick. Highly recommend.
Excellent food. Great price. And friendly service and staff. The chai was super hot and very tasty.
A really good hole-in-the-wall type spot for Indian food. I got butter chicken with garlic naan, and both were super fresh, flavourful, and very delicious. The portion for the butter chicken was also quite large which was a huge plus. The staff is polite and the restaurant is a lot bigger than it seems from the outside and is well-kept. Overall, I'd definitely recommend checking them out.
Went for dinner dine in, only 1 person he is taking care of phones, orders, takeout orders everything done by only one person, Dal makhni was not good at all as per my taste so immediately I returned, ask for Salt Cz not on table seems he was annoyed with me cz he was busy with takeout and phone calls. I would recommend to hire more staff in front so can give good dining experience, I am giving 5 star Cz of one man handling everything in front. But I had worst dining experience.
Superb selection of food. The best chicken vindaloo and garlic Naan in the bay area. The fresh aromatic spices made to order. Perfectly good, flaky warm potatoes and tender chicken. The rice 🍚 cooked perfectly, well done. A small restaurant with an excellent set of chefs. My father praises their chicken curry too. 😊
Very good authentic Indian cuisine. The man and woman running the restaurant are incredibly nice and attentive. We tried their chicken Tikka masala with rice and naan, it was deliciously buttery and flavorful. Not too spicy in my opinion. As for sides, we opted for the Aloo Tikki and the Veg Manchurian. The Aloo Tikki was very tasty, it comes with two different sauces, both are really good. The Veg Manchurian was a lot for a side, a little on the spicy side but equally as good. Would definitely come again, maybe try their lunch buffet :)
Update: they serve lamb on the buffet now. Still my favorite Indian buffet, I even go by myself for lunch sometimes. Buffet is $20 now, but SO WORTH the price for the options. I'm obsessed. *************************************** Found this place by accident. Quaint little hole in the wall with an exquisite indian buffet for only $16.99! Great for people like me who have no idea what to order. Service was GREAT! Very friendly staff. (Buffets are only Friday/Sat & Sun) I wish they offered lamb or different dishes weekly but the buffet dishes I've tried so far (all of them) were pretty terrific.
My recent visit to this restaurant was delightful, and I'd rate it five stars. While the Paneer Paratha was just average and the chicken in the Chicken Tikka Masala a bit dry, the real standout was the Tikka Masala sauce, which was amazing. And coupled with the Naan? Absolutely fantastic! I'll definitely be coming back for that exceptional Tikka Masala sauce and Naan!
Tasty, authentic and interesting Indian food! I tried a starter here that I had never had before, and it blew me away - Chat Papri is now a new favourite! Puffed wheat wafers, with potato’s, cucumbers, tomatoes & onions with yogurt and tamarind sauce. I then had a spicy Kadai Chicken with garlic naan which was again, brilliant. Tender chicken, spiced perfectly and very tasty. The naan was a crunchy style and presented well and added to the dish. The staff were friendly, helpful and service was swift. I’ll be back for sure!
Amazing Indian restaurant in San Jose downtown. Found this place by random search. The place is pretty small but service was great and very friendly staff. The dishes were quite delicious and quantity is filling. They also have weekend buffet which is really good and affordable. Highly recommend!
By far this is now my favorite Indian place in San Jose. Last week I was craving Indian food and after a quick search I "found" this place and believe me, its reviews are legitimate. I call the place to order my food (if you want to help the locals, just take the phone and make your order, this way they really don't lose money in every order). the person who took my order was very kind and clarified all my doubts. I ordered: Vegetable Samosa -came 2 big pieces (turnovers stuffed with potatoes and green peas). Lamb Tikka Masala (lamb cooked in a rich creamy tomato sauce) with Naan Navratan Korma (Nine Vegetables cooked in nine spices, homemade cheese & nuts in a light cream sauce) with basmati rice Everything was on point, big portions (you will have leftovers for sure). Every single bite was tasty, even days before! (leftovers). I'm a big fan of Indian Food, but I try to not eat it very often because it's a little heavy and sometimes (it depends on the place) a little greasy. But not Punjab Cafe, the curry is light (but not in flavor) and your stomach will not resent it. Another point: I LOVE spicy food, all the time I ask my food "spicy" and they delivered! for the first time I wasn't disappointed, and still, even it was really spicy I tasted all the flavors. I other words: Punjab Cafe is totally worth it! P.s. The photos don't make justice to the food, but I was so focused on enjoying it that they are the only ones I managed to take.
Buffet 18.99 on Saturday. Pretty good. Butter chicken and tandoori chicken very good. Vegetable biryani too. Asked for unsweet tea and the guy still brought me sweet tea. Whatever, I liked the Punjabi mom and dad working the restaurant. Immigrants are the most normal people in San Jose by far.
I ordered take out, 2 butter chicken medium spicy (16 oz each) and 2 orders of porotta (total 4 pcs). This has been my go for Indian food, love the flavors here. If you don’t know what to eat, I highly recommend Punjab Café. I mainly order their curry or butter chicken. Each time they were all packed with flavor. The heat level matches the description, so if you are unsure, medium or mild is a safe bet. Butter chicken (4/5) The butter chicken sauce was very creamy and packed with flavor. The medium spicy had a nice kick to it. The sauce is 5 out of 5. The only down side is it had only 5-ish small piece of chicken. Porotta (4/5) The porotta had a nice texture, I love the chewiness, paired well with the butter chicken. We ended up using all four pieces for one order of the butter chicken. Tho, I think I still prefer their garlic naan more.
The food is awesome! I just wish the pricing made more sense, then I’d eat here twice a week. But $7 for naan, $5-6 for white rice… it just makes the total cost too much. These are the cheapest things to make, why jack them up so much? It means that dinner for one person is $35, or $40 if you want chai. Get that to $25 and I bet business explodes.
Food is OK, but be careful with the owner's behavior when adding a tip by himself on the screen. That happened to me this week. After leaving the restaurant, I got home and realized he had added a tip without my consent. At the time, he canceled the payment when I first tapped my card, moved the screen, pressed on it himself (I thought about some tech issue), and then had me tap again. The camera -his camera- won’t lie. Not cool for a neighbor and long-time customer. Never going back.
Horrible experience with ordering from this restaurant. Wish I could give zero star We ordered paneer paratha from Uber and they gave frozen haldiram paratha rather than making fresh which does not match the description or what they serve in restaurant. If it matters, they also delivered different type of parathas, instead the one we ordered. When I called restaurant to inquire about delivering frozen stuff, they spoke rudely and just mentioned to get refund from Uber. We don’t order from restaurants to get frozen food which is unhealthy. Worst part is they are blatantly accepting that they serve worse quality item on Uber and serve the fresh item at restaurant. Not only we wasted so much time, worst part is we again need to figure out what to eat tonight
