Opinions de Đức Phương Tofu San Jose
This Vietnamese fast-food restaurant is located inside a very busy shopping complex. It sells a wide variety of delicious and healthy food.
Stopped here to pick up some snacks. Walking into the place brought me back to my younger years when mom used to make all of these five eateries. Bought glutinous rice with Pandan and coconut. Fantastic! Also, I got the mung bean balls in ginger broth topped with peanuts. It's almost as good as mom's. Good comfort food at a fair market price. The ladies working were helpful and friendly. Missing a bit of home, so there.
It's a takeout only place. Great tofu pudding (Dau fa). We love their "Pearl drinks" which is like tofu pudding Che! Cashier is very nice even with language barrier. Cash preferred but they do take card. We got number 6 but they ran out of the green jelly so they substituted with grass jelly. Very delicious!
Fresh food, clean store, friendly and fast service. I especially enjoy their xoi man and che troi nuoc. Definitely will come back and try more. The chao long is a bomb too.
Omg we love this food to go place. Sweet sticky rice and deserts are so amazing.

Dức Phương Tofu is a go-to spot for fresh tofu and Vietnamese desserts, offering silken tofu with sweet ginger syrup, steamed rice cakes, and che (sweet soup). The grab-and-go lunch plates are affordable and flavorful, with pork rolls and fried bananas being popular choices. Service is fast and friendly, though the cash-only policy may be inconvenient for some. Despite minor limitations, the quality and variety of fresh tofu products make this a solid stop for Vietnamese snacks.
Been coming here for many years since I was a pre-teen. They have everything you need to make dinner or have something to eat if you are hungry. The aunties are kind and generous. I like their fried tofu and soy milk. Sometimes I get the sticky rice, whenever I am hungry and need to munch on something. Their che is also good. Also the old lady in front of the store sells good groceries, if you forgot to get something from the supermarket or you are looking for a better produce quality. I recommend getting chilis from her. She is also sweet and hardworking for her old age. Please support her and the aunties!
Great place to get tofu food items and beverages. I tried other places, but this is the best. Staff is friendly too. And they'll give you valuable info if you frequent them enough. The "good stuff" is usually gone by noon. If you know, you know... And parking is horrible past 11am. So the earlier the better for everything. The other packages foods are good too. Never ordered a sandwich though. So I can't help you there.
Solid food for price point. I love the sandwiches here and the bread they use doesn't cut my mouth up. The flavor is also super yummy though they don't always stuff the sandwich until it overflows.
All the foods is good, very friendly service 10/10. The pate So is Amazing crunchy and favorable, the xôi and chè us really good, I go to this place every weekend!

They have a good selection of prepared foods including a hot food bar with fresh tofu and other fried treats. Great selection of traditional Vietnamese desserts. Their banh mi are big and tasty! I stop by monthly and pick up a week's worth of eats.
You have to check the bill and make sure you get the food you pay for. Once you leave they will not do anything for you. Aside from that, the best sweet soft tofu around. So silky and delicious. They have a lot of other food as well like che, snack, jello, fried tofu, sandwich and tray food. If you come later in the day, the che is $0.50 off for each. The banh beo is not good at all. Don't waste your money on that.

Reliable and tasty for pork rolls, che, and steamed rice cake foods. Usual no nonsense service for the area and cash only. They’re marginally nicer to you if you make an effort to speak Vietnamese.
Bigger sign menu which is good. Banh mi need more improvement since there are many good banh mi place pop-ups
This spot in East San Jose is a great place for Vietnamese snacks, fresh dishes, and drinks. We often stop by to grab a dessert drink and some tofu. Their selection of fried tofu is impressive, with the lemongrass fried tofu being particularly popular, often selling out quickly. I sometimes get the rice crackers as well, though I wish they came in smaller portions since they take a while to finish. The dessert drinks are refreshing, with numerous options and combinations to choose from, and they provide ice separately. In addition to snacks, they offer a variety of fresh foods. Although I haven't tried them yet since I usually visit a nearby Vietnamese restaurant for those, it seems like a great place for a quick grab-and-go meal. I also enjoy their fried Chinese donuts. The store accepts credit cards, and it's best to visit around lunchtime as some items sell out quickly. On one occasion, we visited late in the afternoon and found that many items were already gone, and we couldn't get what we wanted.

Best sandwiches for me. Sweet was good before pandemic, now they don’t servers . Instead they put in cup pre-made. We got some is old and no good, quality going down on sweet stuff. We mainly stop by to get their sandwich. Other stuff we avoided cause never know if it fresh or from yesterday, No good and rotten. Price is up just like everything else in this city. Sad

I am posting this so the shop can improve their cleanliness. Unfortunately, I bought a box of Banh Bao Chi and banh bao this past Sunday. They all came with hair within the food. Also there was no price tag for each food.
Lovely place, but not so clean. Not so nice. Manager will say ...no manager!! Strange for a large restaurant. the she laughs, as if it was funny.

I should have listened to my friends who recommended buying egg rolls from Huong Lan. But I did buy a few egg rolls to try first, b4 buying 50 to take to a NY Eve’s party! The party tray egg rolls had little meat, thick wrapper and more oily than the ones I bought at the counter to try! I was embarrassed to bring such shitty food to share… Needless to say I won’t be making that mistake again, and you lost the opportunity to gain new customers who had your terrible egg rolls at the party! Dumb business move?!?
On Sunday, September 14, 2025, at approximately 5:45 PM, I visited Đức Phương Tofu with the intention of purchasing the last remaining "bánh tét." I proceeded to the checkout line and waited for my turn. When I reached the counter and presented the item for payment, the cashier informed me it was "not for sale," then took it from me to keep for herself. This is an unacceptable and deeply unprofessional business practice. As a result of this incident, I will no longer be patronizing your establishment. There are other reputable businesses in the area that value their customers and demonstrate professional integrity.
Rude behavior. They don’t allow us to pay with a card unless the total was over $20, so I bought extra things to hit the minimum. After paying, I had a question about the prices of the stuff I bought so I could come back with exact cash next time I want to buy again. I was met with a condescending attitude from the lady at the counter, who insisted she put the receipt in my bag when she didn’t. All she put was the copy of the total price, without the items listed. Then her coworker commented and acted like there was too much “yapping” going on. It’s disappointing as a Vietnamese person trying to support Vietnamese businesses that acts like customers can’t ask for the price of their foods.
