Beef wraps and pork buns are a must order here. Food is prepared fresh each day. Affordable pricing. Limited parking and seating - best for to go meals
Line might look long but it goes pretty quick. Daily fresh meal offerings often vary but the favorites are always available like buns, green onion pancakes and beef rolls.
My go-to whenever I craved authentic Chinese home cooking away from home; I’ve tried the frozen dumplings, chive pies and beef rolls and loved them all -- taste, texture, freshness. It is carryout only and the line moves fast, so go in with an idea of what you want. Only downside is they prefer cash and the prices are a bit high (but it’s the bay area so that’s expected)
Fantastic buns of all different varieties. Our favorites are the onion buns, pork buns, Chinese donuts, scallion pancakes, taro buns, and brown sugar buns. The hot food is also good, especially when they have fish. Update: Jenny's bakery has expanded now to encompass all the buildings in the little plaza. The food is just as good as before and the customer area is now much more spacious, organized, and modern. I hope the expanded kitchen means they will not run out of my favorite buns!
All time favorite Chinese family dishes, like your college dining hall, nothing fancy but essential. Beef roll is my son’s favorite. I do takeouts here almost every month if not more often. They offer weekday lunch bento as well.
Love this place. Life saver for weekday dinner. Home cook style and not so salty and greasy. My kids love the beef pancake, and I like the fresh vegetables and variety of meat you can choose. Some of the desert are really good too. Hope they have more locations to choose
Food here is always tasty and having secret menu items to surprise customers. Meals are randomly selection on the table, you never know what's coming next! Also a great place to have a to-go. Normally, you may line up a bit for waiting previous customers to finish their order. Love the various egg pancakes, especially the sweat potatoes with red beans as well as onion pancakes.
This place was out of my radar because the picture here on Google is not great. But my friend recommended it, so I gave it a try. And it's a surprise. They have plenty choices of northern china style dim-sum. My favorite food from them is the roasted chicken. It's fully favored, very authentic, like these I had back in China. I highly recommend this place
Consistently stop by this "Chinese deli" for prepared foods whenever I'm in the area. There's always a bit of a line but very reliable for getting frozen buns and dumplings and prepared foods. My dad like the rice rolls and I like the beef rolls. Mom likes the red bean paste buns.
Great home-made Northern Chinese food with excellent service. I stopped by weekly to grab the green onion pancake, hand cut pork pie, thousand layer meat pie. The stir fry dishes and porridge is also super good. Also recommend the marinated pork leg and tea boiled eggs.
Super yummy food that’s tucked away in a neat little corner! Absolutely took me back by how filled the place is of yummy food and how reasonable of a price it had! The lady up front is very friendly and will suggest you great food if it’s your first time. A must visit place.
I’m visiting Bay Area. Yummy food in this place. Love all of the pork roll, beef roll, buns and chive pies . And the you2tiao2 油条is impressive! It tastes about the same as I had when I was little child in China! I wish I could take them back home.
Fresh food with a home cooked taste and they treat you like family. I take out at least once a week. Tasted a lot of different dishes and enjoyed all. Some of my favorites are: white fish, smoked chicken, chive and egg patties.
A fun concept around a take out only restaurant. Jenny's Kitchen cooks home style cooking with a selection that varies depending on time of day. At lunch you can get a lunchbox filled with a selection of foods while at dinner you can get plates of various dishes straight out of the kitchen. All day they have steam buns and fried breads as well as frozen and refrigerated items.
This is a tiny market plus food place. They take Covid seriously, only two customer inside and only workers can touch items sold there. Very nice. They have northern style chinese food like the buns, scallion pan cakes and beef rolls. Taste amazing. I always forget what I want when I'm there because there are so many choices.
Tip: Follow the mothers! It's not unusual to find a steady string of customers waiting to order the Chinese homemade goods. The two easily recommended items are the excellent Green Onion Pancake ($3.49) and the Beef Roll ($9.99).
Feels like home cooking and (sometimes) even better (sorry mom)! Don't feel bummed out seeing the precooked foood. We tried out the green onion pancake, smoked chicken, and okra. everything was just delicious! I can't say much more, but just come early, take your food home, and give this place a try!
The most authentic northern chinese kitchen in the bay area, they take cash/cards. Jenny is super friendly and down to earth. beening chinese myself, it feels like I'm in china already just going to her place and having simple conversation with her. Would recommand this place to anyone that like northern chinese cuisine. Thank you Jenny I will be back.
Stopped in to Jenny’s Kitchen after being recommended by a coworker and was delighted to try a savory egg scallion crepe roll and pork & chive pancake! The crepe had a good combination of soft and crunchy elements and was very tasty. The pork and chive pancake had a lot of pork and was quite juicy. I decided to ask to get both heated up and ate outside at a table that they have there. Staff were super friendly helping me make my selections, letting me know the food was hot, including utensils, offering me a cup of water, etc. The small store front gets a steady stream of business and had a line the whole time I was there on a Saturday afternoon. For smaller purchases, it seems like they prefer cash.
Food is great (I've only gotten breakfast items). I've only been here twice but both times I've had a great experience with the manager. She's very friendly and recommends things but is not pushy. Today, she was being scolded by a customer with a poor attitude and she handled it well. I will continue to come back in the future.
Update: They’ve recently expanded and opened up a much more spacious area—and now offer an even bigger selection too 🙌 First of all, they call you “beauty” or “handsome” the moment you walk in… which honestly already wins me over. Jenny, the owner, is super friendly and always makes sure you’re getting your money’s worth. I come here at least once a week for dinner, no shame. At lunchtime, you can grab a bento box and pick from pretty much any dish you see in front of you—dangerous in the best way. I’ve also ordered catering trays from them, and wow, such good value. And the cherry on top? NO MSG!!! 🥳
No dine-in. Take out only. The food are decent with fair price. Since there are lot good options to select from, you might end up spend more than you think!
This is kinda neighborhood kitchen you love, small but very neat and clean, super duper kind and friendly staff, lots of people waiting in line but no chaos, at all. People, like me, love their food because it's not too salty nor oily nor artificial coloring, nor fancy whatever, just honest ingredients and authentic home cooked food, and yet very comforting, making you homesick. LOVE LOVE LOVE. Parking lot is very limited but just wait a few you will have your chance.
Lots of ready to go bento dishes, pancakes, buns, dumplings, vegetables and pastries. $20 minimum for credit card.
Really great food and really nice service. I had trouble ordering, but they were really nice and recommended this green onion pancake pork roll. Really tasty

Really great food and really nice service. I had trouble ordering, but they were really nice and recommended this green onion pancake pork roll. Really tasty
The food in the place is absolutely amazing. I had a "Spicy Basil Rice Bowl with Brisket" and it was one of the best dishes I have ever tasted. Everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The old lady had Brisket Street Taco's - she shared one with me and it was just as good. I dont know who Jenny is but here is a big shout out to her and her staff. Amazing!!
I visit them almost every week. This place is the best Chinese family kitchen in California!! 🤩
Fantastic tasting food and really warm, fast service. I LOVE this gem. Everything from fresh product to very authentic Chinese steam and seared buns to Chinese baked goods to prepared dishes to refrigerated goodies.

Very tasty and fair portions. Good selection of main dishes, bakery, side dishes and dessert, also frozen food like dumplings. They are known for their green onion pancakes. A little pricey and line is often long. The staff is friendly and I often spend way more than what I planned. My biggest concern is the small parking lot.
Food selection is great. Tastes good. A bit pricey. But quality is good. I like the tofu, baked goods, and frozen dumplings. I but a ton every time, but the sales person still try to upsell.
The sign for this place is kind of hidden behind a huge flowering bush, and it's a pretty small parking lot. But you won't be there long since there's no seating so it's really just a takeout place. My sister loves their black sesame fried sesame balls (芝麻球), but the pastry chef is gone until February 2015. Instead we got some pork and vegetable buns (yum), vegetarian buns (pretty good if you like vegetarian buns), green onion pancake (there's is a bit different than the kind you normally think of), and chive pastries (韭菜盒子). Mom really likes their chive pastries but I only thought they were okay. If I'm in the area again I would probably just get the pork+veg buns plus the sesame balls.
They serve decent Chinese togo food and food you can quickly prepare at home. We're talking dumplings and chinese pancakes. Their food is good enough that by the afternoon, many moms buy them up for their family. The food price is a little bit on the higher side, but the quality seems to be worth it. On the counter side, you will see food you can eat immediately (buns, fried pancake, fried fish, etc.). The fridge will have frozen dumplings which are roughly around ~$20 for 50 pieces. The frozen dumplings can be quickly boiled to eat in the middle of the night. The workers can be a bit rude / pushy so asking "what's good here?" may result in a big unwanted purchase. They almost always try to offer something on top of what you ask for so I recommend knowing what you want and staying firm.
The combo platter comes with an amazing amount of food. The Zongzi (leaf wrapped rice) and the scallion pancakes are really good. You can also buy uncooked dumplings to go. I saw a lot of Mandarin speaking customers, so that says something about the authenticity.
Good and healthy home cook and authentic chinese, almost hole-in-the wall place. I get food and dumbling from this place a few times a month. Since the food is not oily like other Chinese place, I feel good eating at this place. Food is not cheap, but convenient and healthy is more important. I wonder if their second restaurant in San Jose is as good.
I came to buy frozen dumplings. Their dumplings are pretty good, and I was told by friends that their ingredients are good. The staff seemed very nice and proud of their products. That gives me a higher level of trust on their foods. It is sometimes hard to tell what restaurants put in their food, so trust is important. The place is small and it was very crowded at 10:30am when I arrived. The parking spaces were very limited. There were cars waiting for parking spaces, and the shoppers' line extended to the door. Service was relatively fast, and the staff all seemed very enthusiastic. I will try some other of their foods later. So far, I am satisfied with their dumplings.
They sell both ready to eat as well as frozen Chinese food for takeout only. It is not the cheapest but the portion size is pretty generous. What drew us to this place was their smoked chicken. And very often there is a long line of customers.

Industrial space with authentic, manually prepared Chinese preparations (ready-made takeout as well as ample frozen selections). Some selections are really great (beef rolls), while others are outlandish expensive for what is only meh (chive pie, cabbage pie) with too much dough (soft and greasy if that's your speed) but pretty tasteless, at $3+ per pie! There are many more offerings not even on the website, available (or explained) only in Chinese. And really, if you don't speak the language (I do but not my family), you'd have no clue. I haven't tried their pot stickers or wontons, which look very professionally wrapped, since all are filled with pork. They really ought to get more current and offer chicken or turkey fillings!

The dishes are a bit too salty for me and not all the items displayed with prices. The parking lot is very small, and usually need to wait in line during the lunch or dinner time. They do have different kinds of steamed buns all the time.

I got food from the truck so the Fairwood food truck event. Service was extremely slow. The cabbage was good. The peas and rice with oxtail gravy were pretty good. The gravy was a little thick. However the biggest complaint was the lack of oxtails. There were None in the sauce. Very disappointing especially for $26.
Recommend the food that is not packaged on the table. And I really doubt that they sell a part of food from quick-frozen food of Chinese supermarket. For example, some vegetable buns that sell one bag for $7.99 including 12 pieces. I admit they bought them and opened them and reheated them and packed again. Labor fee is expensive in California. Customers hope the fresh and more delicious buns, but these taste the same and price doubled.

I finally paid a visit to the store after hearing their name for many years. Unfortunately, this will be my last visit. Why? Actually the sales lady does give me a pretty warm feeling. I was felling well and bought over $100 food, including the pomegranates she recommended (have to admit I like the low price) It turns out some cooked vegetables didn’t look freshly made, but more like leftover. And on pomegranates - I pretty much had to throw those out because those are sour and almost rot. Lastly, I should not have bought that much food - thinking about it later, there was an element of up-sale. However, I can’t blame others but myself for taking the bite…
I think they deserve $$$ for the price tag. $35 for a bag of dumplings, $5 for chili oil. All items are expensive. Please go to other Chinese restaurant. Better quality with less price
I was charged extra money for what I bought and only found out after getting home. Their receipt doesn’t have exact item listing which confuses people easily. I was charged at least $20 more for what I bought today. It’s not right to do business like this
The portion of the food is getting smaller but the price goes higher. The owners and the cashiers are super pushy. They like to push everything onto their customers. Some food are left overs and clearly is not as fresh. The value of their food is just not there.
The food here is average level. It is expensive. The staff here is rude, trying to persuade you to buy as much as they want. Keep talking and talking until you buy. They said: our tomatoes are coming from Organic Farm.....almost everything is organic....but looks not good as Safeway......I have bad experience
I went there several times and think the food quality doesn’t really match the price. Should be at least two dollar sign $$. Besides the upselling can be a little bothering Check your bill before leaving too
⭐ 1/5 - This place is a nightmare. Filthy environment, found hair in my bun disgusting hygiene. Prices keep skyrocketing, but quality is mediocre at best. They only take cash, probably dodging taxes, yet nothing improves. Total rip-off steer clear and don't waste your money.
I'd give this place zero stars if I could. They charge extraordinarily high prices for substandard food. I ordered a braised fish dish and when I took a bite the fish tasted like it had gone bad. When I went back to complain the cashier denied that the fish had spoiled and insisted that they only serve fresh seafood. Either they don't taste their own food or they're a disreputable business willing to sell rotting food to make a quick buck. Everyone knows the smell of near-rotting fish and I almost threw up eating it. The cashier offered to exchange the fish for a random dish of her own choice then warned me that she was being overly generous and that this replacement for rotting food will never happen again (of course, she didn't bother to ask if I had any allergies before handing me whatever she picked). Luckily, I wasn't allergic to any of the ingredients. Unfortunately, the cooking oil tasted like it hasn't been changed in a month (old and rancid), so I ended up throwing out the entire box of food. I remember when this place had different owners. There were fewer options but it was always fresh and decent quality. The new management is pushy, rude, marks up prices by 1000%, and sells rotten food. The interior of this restaurant now looks dingy and dirty and my plastic bag had a funky smell. I doubt if this place could pass any kind of unannounced Department of Health food safety inspection. Eat at your own risk!
The bao buns appear to be machine-made and previously frozen, rather than handmade as one might expect for the price. Unfortunately, the quality didn’t meet expectations. I won’t be buying them again. If I want to buy machine made frozen buns, I can go to a grocery store and buy them at half the price, and they taste exactly the same.
First time, there were eggshells in the food. Second time, there has hair! Oh my! Disgusting very much! I told my experience to them and they said it’s normal. How ridiculous! The staff there are rude too. They don’t want you to pay by bank card, and they keep pressuring you to buy things you don’t need.
