Opinions de Pho Nhy San Jose
Friendly staffs, great service, quality ingredient, & open during shelter-in-place. Hard to find a pho restaurant during this time that is open. The pho was quite delicious for take out order.
The traditional Vietnamese Beef stew served with fresh crusty French bread. Not at all in the style of American Beef Stew but is more healthy with all the soft meat collagen not found in the American version. The pho is also very excellent. Especially when you order it with the fresh rice noodles that cut in a lo mein size instead of the traditional vermicelli rice Phở noodles.
My all time favorite pho joint. This hidden gem is family-run by an owner who is incredibly kind and courteous. All their ingredients are fresh never frozen. The broth has no MSG and is very refreshing. The meat is always tender and never overcooked but the star of the show is the fresh noodles they make. They run out quick so make sure to go early!
Pho Special includes ox tail and the broth is flavorful. Not on the menu is authentic Chao Long that has pork blood sausage, intestine, and heart. Service is fast and friendly, and the atmosphere is comfortable. I highly recommend this restaurant as destination for authentic Vietnamese cuisine.
Best Pho found in the Bay Area. Home cooked and great atmosphere. They make you feel like family. Small area but always a place to eat. I’m suggesting it to Tripple D show, but they may get too famous and too popular, this maybe the best secret found.
Small and super casual restaurant. Beef pho is it's specialty. I love the broth. It's light, tasty, and no salty after taste. Hence, no need to carry 2 litters of water with you after!
Pho Nhy is a great restaurant with a cozy, friendly family feel and amazing food to boot. Not many places in the bay area have as well crafted bowls of pho with awesome composition, a choice of a wide variety of noodles, and an excellent ice coffee. We go almost any time we're in the area, and we don't live that close!
Definitely one of my go to spots, out of what seems like a hundred pho restaurants in San Jose. The broth is savory and tastes as authentic as it gets. The pork porridge they serve on the weekends is the best around hands down.
The beef stew is really good. If you don't like tendons then order meat only. A small bowl if beef stew will cost you $10. The owner is very friendly but he close the restaurant around 5 pm.
Best Pho I've ever had! My long dear friend/comadre and I really enjoyed it. Owner was very nice and service was excellent. Can't wait to go back and try their fresh noodles :) Delicious!!
Great and friendly service. I had Pho Tai and tripe the broth is amazing! You have the option of getting regular noodles or fresh noodles that they buy daily. We will be back!
Finally able to find a good fresh Pork intestines porridges. The porridges were so great. This is the only place I can find with the pork intestines that do not have the stinky taste nor smell. Would be highly recommended.
Beef broth pho was so savory and flavorful. Also I really enjoyed their sweet soymilk drink (with pandan). The whole staff were very helpful and friendly.
INCREDIBLE and specialized 3 item menu. Such a deep soup made with so much intention and care. Beautiful family owned business with so much quality control.
One of the best pho I had in a longggg time. I will put this place above Pho Hanoi and Pho Papa any day. I was feeling really sick yesterday, but my wife came home with this pho. I lost all my appetite, but I would be stupid to turn down pho. So I took a sip of the broth....HOLY MOLY, I was in love. Long story short, I instantly felt better and today, I am back to normal. Now I am not saying this pho can cure all disease, but maybe it can???? We will definitely come back!!!
Terrific "Family-style" Phở house that meets most―if not all―my criteria for a 5-star Phở spot: 1) Hole-in-the-wall? Check! This place is seriously tucked away in the deepest recesses of the Chavez Market shopping center. The interior only has enough seating for the a half-dozen tables, as well as a few dog-friendly tables outside. 2) Friendly service? Yes! Much like the coelacanth, it is a rarity in the Viet dining scene, but if one looks hard enough, it does exist. 3) Fresh noodles? Yes! Not many Phở spots have them but if they do it's usually one of the good 'uns. 4) MSG-free? Eh... it's debatable. A lot of reviews claim it is but I disagree. I got a bit of the MSG dry mouth, but way less than usual. 5) Ox-tail? Yes! In fact their broth is oxtail-based, so double-yum! 6) Inexpensive? Fairly. $11 for a large is somewhat towards the upper-middle but good value for a high-quality product. 7) Clean? Yep, yep. I dare say even spotless. They're a shining light in the drab, ahem, "rustic" East Syde shopping center they're located in. Def the ying to its yang. Or is that the other way around? I always get those confused, but I digress... 8) Punny name? Not sure if it's done on purpose but pretty original irregardless. All those factors play into a solid 5-star spot. So, despite the name, Phở Nhy is anything but. Take it from the self-appointed Phở King: they're legit.
today the Oxtail Combo Pho hit the spot. My favorite broth in the whole Bay Area can be found here. Highly recommend.
Yummy 😋 super friendly, Quick and Clean! We loved this corner restaurant, you can build your own Pho and enjoy. Thank your for hospitality, Aimee.
Their combination Pho was delicious! Fast service, and I love that their menu was simple and straightforward. I think it's saying a lot about their food if there are only a few items on their menu. The restaurant is a little hidden and situated in a corner of the parking lot.
This place is by far the best pho place in the Bay Area. Fresh ingredients, savory broth, and the soft fresh noodle make a perfect combination. I have tried so many pho places throughout Bay Area but finally found my go to place. The owners are super friendly and kind. Highly recommend!
The place is in a corner of an old-looking strip mall. But do not let appearance fool you as their pho is very delicious. The broth is umami and not sugary. They have both fresh and dry noodles. Meat is of good quality. They could give more meat though. The place is neat and clean inside. Service is friendly and attentive.
Delicious soup! My new fav on a cloudy rainy day. Their noodles are fresh. The restaurant is family owned and the owner tung is very friendly, he taught me how to eat with chop sticks (those fresh noodles can be pretty slick 😂) apparently they cook their beef noodles for over 8 hours and their chicken soups for about 4 hours. The vibe is great and the food is cooked with love 💚
I've been craving some good food and came here based on recommendations. The best and authentic pho here. It broth is flavorful and you can tell they didn't use chicken broth from a can like most places do. The owner was very friendly and socialable..not your typical Vietnamese service where they rush you in and out. The vegetables were fresh and service was great. It's a fairly small establishment so avoid the lunch hour.
4/2/23 large is smaller than I was expecting. The soup water is darker and more beef broth flavor. More meat would be nice.
Amazing flavours, service and food. Feels like a warm hug when slurping their Pho 🍜. Definitely recommend! And will be going back! 😍
Nice and friendly service. Food was pretty good too. Had the Pho and was very delicious.

Been going here for years. I use to live around the corner, just wished it was around when I did. The pho broth is very rich and the special comes with an ox tail too. This location is still in my top 5 pho spots. It’s a nice mom and pop location so it can get packed on weekends and lunch time due to limited seating but it shouldn’t be a long wait. Be sure to get the Chinese donut with it.
Pho noodles were soft, meat was also soft and easy to chew, broth is savory and delicious. Owner has great sense of humor and great personality. Hole in the wall place, but highly recommended. Everything was made fresh to order.
Great hole in the wall. Literally, this was my mom's favorite chicken pho place before she passed away. I remember after taking her to chemotherapy I'd always tell her I know you probably don't feel like eating but you have to eat something even if it's a little bit. She would always want to eat chicken pho here. The people, servers, and owners were always friendly, nice and accommodating. The prices are fair and the food was always good. This place will always be in my heart as it was the last few places I remember my mom smiling.
Pho and braised beef are delicious.. the restaurant is very friendly

I had the oxtail pho a year ago and it was great. The broth is the meatiest tasting broth in San Jose as of now, but tried the pho dac diet this time around and tasted like the broth was more sweeter this time around which is why I'm rating it 4 instead of 5. Overall soup is strong in flavor. Great quality of meat, and service is good. Understand and speak English well.
It's a tiny mom-pop pho restaurant. Simple home cooked cuisine. Service was quick! Very popular with locals. Restaurant is a bit old. We had to park away as its a small lot.
I ordered a rare steak pho (pho tai) and found the broth to be very good -- richer than most (if not all) pho broths I've had in NorCal and not too salty. The meat came nice and pink, and was tender after cooking. Didn't get to try the fresh rice noodles because they ran out, but will try to order earlier next time and hopefully try some.
Beef stew with Vietnamese bread, and on weekends mix pork porridge are their specialties. They do beef and chicken pho on weekdays. Good flavors, not overloaded with msg.
I had an early morning crave at 7am. My usual spot wasn't open yet so I took a chance with this place. What a delightful surprise. I've been slurping phos for the better part of the last 3 decades. I have never had a pho dac biet with actual ox tail bones in the bowl. I had two pieces in my bowl. My dad's had only one but his was the big piece. Their regular size is $11 so I think it's a dollar or two more than other places but those ox tail bones are expensive! Aside from meats on the bones, they give deeper, richer flavor and aroma to the soup. I'm not sure everyone would appreciate this difference in flavor. But having grown up eating ox tail soups, it hit the spot right on! One issue I will point out, though, is that the soup temperature wasn't as high as I'd like. It's still hot. But, if they were to lay a few pieces of thin rare steaks on top like some places do, I'm not sure the soup will be hot to cook the meat. Interior was standard pho fare. Service was fast and friendly. There were some outside seatings. All in all, I recommend this place for any pho fans.
Was craving Pho for breakfast and wasn't sure if anywhere would be open before 8am. A quick search and I found this place. Very quick service and the broth wasn't salty like other places. Would come again!
Food tastes pretty good, fresh. Broth is delicious.
Food was good. Got the chicken pho and an order of the oxtail. The oxtail was very hard, not tender at all. The chicken pho was delicious.
Passed this small restaurant while shopping sandwiches nearby. Decided to give it a try given the good google rating. Ordered oxtail pho and beef stew. Both with thin rice noodle. After ordering, I realized that I could have ordered porridge of pork organ plus a bowl of oxtail as I really wanted try this too. Anyway, both dishes are delicious! Meat is tender and full of flavor.
Pho Quest Stop #77 It’s been awhile since I’ve tried a new pho spot My favorite spot Pho Ha Noi now has locations in San Jose, Cupertino, Palo Alto and Fremont and is a successful chain Today was a chance to try a mom and pop shop Pho Nhy is on McKee Road and the options here are sparse. The prior pho spot was one of my lowest rated pho spots I had tried But I heard this new establishment and the nearby Duc Huong sandwiches had renewed food cred of the area Their signature is the beef stew which I really enjoyed with flat rice noodles and the pho oxtail Soup flavors were solid and both fresh flat and regular rice noodles are available The Hainan chicken was a bit lean but overall this is a surprising find for the area 📷 Bo Kho $16.50 ~ Beef Stew, Large, Rice Noodles / Pho Tai Duio Bo $15 ~ Large Pho with Flank Steak and Oxtail / Hainan Chicken with Rice $16 📍Pho Nhy (San Jose, CA) My Pho Quest Rankings: [San Jose, unless noted] ============ 1) Pho Ha Noi - BEST Pho (Overall & Northern Style) 2) Pho Cong Ly - BEST Oxtail Pho 3) Pho Y1 - BEST Pho (Southern Style) 4) Pho Kim Long - BEST Chicken Pho 5) Turtle Tower (SF) - Pho Dac Biet 6) Pho Ga Hung - BEST Cau Bun Rau Muong 7) Pho 79 (Garden Grove) - Pho Dac Biet 8) Pho Papa - Pho Dac Biet with Special Beef Short Rib 9) Pho Tick Tock - Pho Tick Tock *10) PHO NGUYEN (Milpitas) - Pho Nguyen Dac Biet w/ fresh wide noodles Dining is indoor only and credit cards are accepted
Good sport for that early morning pho craving. Opens at 08:00... dimple straight forward menu and good service.

The service was fast, and she assisted us with menu items. We had the beef stew with bread. The stew was very good but the meat was very fatty. The bread was crusty, warm and fresh.
Photo was in my other phone sorry no photo. But kinda pricey for a small. The noodles were different but good different. It had a good texture. Beside that broth was good. Average but not alot of condiments. Small place too. So i give it a 3.
I personally didn't like this pho that much. Soup broth felt very one dimensional(only salty). Meat was good. Noodles (got the standard dry rice noodle) were actually a bit thicker than other pho places. Parking here is quite messy.
The food is alright not amazing, still flavorful enough to eat but not quality enough to crave. The fatty brisket I got was quite dry. The rice noodles kinda soggy feeling so If you are eating here go for the fresh noodles.
I really wanted to like this place especially given it's glowing reviews about how flavorful the broth was. Unfortunately, my experience didn’t live up to the hype. The broth, while darker, tasted flat and lacked the depth or complexity I expect from a well-developed pho base. I appreciate that they offer a variety of meats, but the flavors and textures didn’t marry well with the fresh noodles or the broth itself. On top of that, it was expensive for a regular combo pho and a cup of tea. It came out to over $19. For that price, I was expecting something more memorable. In San Jose, where there’s no shortage of great pho spots, Pho Nhy fell short. The broth didn’t taste developed or good enough to justify the cost.

Really nice owner, very sorry to leave such a negative review, but this is one of the worst pho meals we've had. Broth way too salty, probably want to prevent diners using the oyster sauce & Sriracha condiments. Broth isn't real bone broth, very weird tasting broth, too little meat, too little vegetable toppings, tea served in disposable cups at $1/cup, everything was so very unpleasant and unsatisfying. We only ate here because the famous Pho 54, our favorite real bone broth Pho restaurant, was closed for vacation until 11.15.23. Pho 54 is A+++.
