Came here on a Thursday night. Pretty much had what Kyle the server had suggested and loved every bit of it. The smoked pork chop was fabulous with mustard and bell pepper sauce. The beers he recommended were flavorful. The Bavarian cream dessert rounded out the experience. Will be back!
I love this local haunt. Super fun food menu. Lots of smiles. Best of all the home made desserts. I wanted a second Sacher Tort but my wife would not let me.
Absolutely loved our night out here! The food was packed with flavor, and the atmosphere was just fantastic. I brought my son and daughter, and they had a blast watching the live band — so many fun sing-a-long songs and even couples dancing outside. We started with the pork belly with fruit compote, and wow, that’s a must-have appetizer. For mains, we had the buffalo meatloaf and a couple of other dishes with names I can’t even pronounce, but every bite was amazing. And for dessert? Burnt almond cake and apple strudel with fresh whipped cream — heavenly. We washed it all down with some beer, which hit the spot perfectly. It was the kind of evening where everything just came together: great food, lively music, and a fun vibe for the whole family. Definitely a spot we’ll be coming back to.
The beer selection is equally impressive, and the Dunkel fresh from the tap is smooth, flavorful, and pairs beautifully with the rich flavors of the food. The atmosphere adds to the experience, and I’m especially excited to come back with a reservation so we can enjoy the beer garden, soak in the lively ambiance, and catch some live music while sipping on great brews. This downtown San Jose spot is a fantastic destination for anyone who loves authentic German beer and hearty cuisine. The Schweinehaxe is cooked to perfection—crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside, making it a must-try dish. Whether you’re looking for a casual lunch or a festive evening out, this spot delivers on both quality and atmosphere. It’s the perfect place to enjoy traditional German fare and drinks in the heart of the city.
"I visited this beer bar last night and was absolutely thrilled! The atmosphere is amazing — cozy dim lighting, a stylish industrial interior, and pleasant music that doesn't drown out the conversation. The staff gave me a warm welcome and showed me to a table right away. The beer selection is impressive, with over 20 draught options including some rare craft brews. I was especially pleased with their seasonal offerings. All the beer is stored and served at the perfect temperature. The quality is top-notch — the beer is always fresh, and the glassware is clean and properly served. The bartenders are true pros who can recommend the perfect pint for any taste or mood. The food didn't disappoint either — hearty pub fare with both classic and original dishes. I especially loved the snacks: juicy sausages, crispy mozzarella sticks, and their signature beer bites. Portions are generous, and the prices are fair."
Clearly a beloved local establishment. We've been here many times in the past two years and it has a charm that keeps us coming back. The food isn't mind blowing, but it's consistent and well priced. Portions are generous and much of the staff have been with the restaurant for a long time. They celebrate Oktoberfest when it's the season for it, and it's very a fun vibe with live music and dancing.
WOW! What a great place Teske's Germania is! It's right up there with the best of them, that's for sure. I was in town for Koopinhaggler's Symposium on the possibilities of Interstellar tellaportation of data, and its pitfalls which were obvious to all when I kept hearing others talking about how wonderful Teske's Germania Restaurant is...So, naturally I just had to go, and Man-O-Man was I impressed. The food was amazing as was the service as a matter of fact...everything about the place was amazing! 5 ☆☆☆☆☆ and worthy of a two hour drive! no shit.
Undoubtedly my favorite German restaurant. 30 year patron, still consistently amazing 😍😍. Service staff is literally home warming phenomenal if that's a phrase... Great experience, great beers if you drink, great flavor, great quality, value, the whole nine. Fantastic
As an Austrian I was curious what a German restaurant in San Jose would be like. And I wasn't disappointed! The atmosphere was nice and cozy, the Wienerschnitzel I got was decent, and I enjoyed the best Sachertorte I ever had outside of Austria. The waiter also spoke German. Would definitely go there again!
We are on a weekend trip to San Jose and found this restaurant walking distance from our Airbnb. There is a good selection of traditional German food and German beers. I absolutely loved the Reuben sliders! We also enjoyed M'ssissipi Slide performing in the beer garden. Love those blues. Plus we had a very attentive waiter.
I seldom go to san Jose. Last Saturday, my friend said we would go there to drink beer, so we went to this shop. I was amazed by the ambience, the service and the food, especially the beer. The decoration and furnishings of the house are the kind of old furniture with a sense of time. A liter of beer is really good for me to drink. And his signature German dish,Roast pork knuckle and sausage, is the best I've had in the Bay Area. The service was also very warm and friendly.I already want to move my family to live nearby.
This place is a hidden gem for anyone who loves German food/beer. The beer list is fantastic with some great ones on draft to enjoy in .5L or 1L. I sat at the small, perfectly kitschy bar with some regulars and the owner manning the taps. The small plate of boar sausages was tasty. They have a bigger dining area with a totally different feel than the bar and a small outdoor beer garden. The owner even apprenticed in Germany, so you're getting the real deal. Totally recommend for a taste of Germany.
Authentic German food in San Jose, what a gem! I have been here a few times and it is always a blast. Lots of German beer, brats and an excellent staff. The atmosphere is superb and the many different rooms are quite interesting. I always get a great meal and a great time at Teske's.
The portion sizes are generous; you get what you pay for. The pear salad was very nice, exceeding my expectations. The heirloom tomatoes were also very good, though I wish they had given us four! Everything else we ordered was well-made and flavorful. The environment is cool, with old-style dining decor and a nice bar. Good service overall.
For a person who is vegetarian and doesn't like beer, I can highly recommend this place (and I will be back). Despite the few options for a vegetarian, you will not miss the food, nor will you leave hungry. In addition to that, there is a wide variety of liquors for your palate. The service is great, and the place is cozy. Just spend a great Friday afternoon (or any day) enjoying its delicious food, drinks, and atmosphere.
I Travel this country and look for German restaurants. I spent 3 years in Germany and really enjoy Jagerschnitzel and had my mouth set on it. The purple cabbage was on point as well as the potato salad. The Jagerschnitzel however must have been leftover from two days earlier and flashed in the pan to just warm it up. The gravy had a very funky taste to it as well i think it was missing the sour cream. The Spatzle was also on point, however, the gravy destroyed it. Beautiful place and the service was wonderful, the bartender was on point and insisted that he get me a new piece of meat. The second piece was not over cooked, so it came down to the gravy in the end.
Good old boy bar atmosphere. Narssastic co-owner. Definitely not German food, nor German atmosphere. Don't make the mistake of going hoping to enjoy authentic food. Sauerkraut and potato salad was cold. The sausages were over boiled. It took 3 minutes from ordering to serving if that tells you how the food is prepared. $82 for what you see. A witz...
The owner rejected my valid CA Real ID because he didn’t recognize the new format. Fine, but when I offered to call the police to verify it, he told me to “stop being a dick” and threatened to kick me out. Think about that. He had no way to confirm his own judgment, refused the one option that would’ve settled it, and got aggressive when I pushed back. That’s not enforcing rules. That’s just an ego crap. I’m 24. The ID is real. I drove 20 minutes because this place supposedly has great cherry liquor. Turns out the owner is the thing that’s past its expiration date..
We had a reservation for 5:30 at the Oktoberfest beer garden, but when we arrived, the staff mockingly told us it was “impossible” to have a reservation for the beer garden. They told us to sit inside, order a couple of beers, and maybe they’d let us move to the garden later. It took them 40 minutes to bring our first round of liter beers, claiming they were “short on glasses.” We ordered a few more rounds and some appetizers, and while waiting, we noticed a few free tables outside. We asked again about moving to the garden, but they rudely refused—even though we had a reservation there. Meanwhile, other groups were being seated outside without any problem. When we asked one last time, the manager or owner (a bald man in a white shirt) came over and very rudely told us that we needed to order “real food,” not just appetizers, to even be considered for the garden area. His attitude completely ruined our vibe and left a really bad taste in our mouths. The service is slow and extremely rude, making you feel like they’re doing you a favor by serving you. And to top it off, a liter of beer costs $20. Overpriced, poor service, and bad attitude. Oktoberfest experience completely ruined. Definitely not coming back.
