Opinions de Hidden House Coffee San Juan Capistrano
This longstanding restaurant has a history and still showcases the train stop between here and San Diego (the stop is a few feet away). Central to great shopping and dining, this location oozes casual sophistication. You could easily find yourself sipping cocktails on the patio while people watching and listening to live music. The food portions are not only generous but really tasty. The atmosphere is intriguing and the wait staff is knowledgeable and attentive. The cocktails are delicious and the desserts are worth coming to try.
If you find yourself in San Juan Capistrano or better yet, if you take the train to SJC and want a place to eat that combines a chill, classy, and outdoorsy vibe with great quality food then Trevor's at the Tracks is for you. Their mantra, Globally inspired; locally sourced. There's a variety of excellent food choices that won't break the bank. Located literally at the tracks but after lunch make the effort to explore the beauty and quaintness on the other side of the tracks. Absolutely lovely neighborhood. All around great experience. Enjoy!
Enjoy the sights and sounds of San Juan Capistrano as you sit and relax outdoors or indoors. Located right next to the Amtrak train tracks. Saturday afternoon had live music. Good size bar area in the outdoor covered dining patio. Prompt and friendly service, delicious food, crab cakes appetizer comes as two and can be a meal, with a wide variety of options on the menu. Was told their menu is seasonal.
We only did appetizers and drinks but it was a charming spot. I love patio dining but I think next time I will ask for an indoor seating because the train was pretty loud and close so it was hard to hear other people talk. Good beer selection and while the cocktail list was interesting my colleague did not enjoy the seasonal cherry old-fashioned (came out looking like a bloody mary due to the cherry puree) and was not happy with the regular old fashioned because it was a little watered down.
Had lunch at Trevor’s, they had live music which was great. We had the blind dates and the crunchy rice. The service was over and above, our server Brooke was so friendly and helpful with recommendations for drinks and food! I’m gluten free and was so easy to find yummy options.
A wonderful place for the Goddess and I to visit! We like to sit outside on the patio, listen to the live music, and enjoy a cocktail and dinner. Their signature cocktails are well done and tasty. We have never been disappointed. Dinner selection is a wide variety and we always like what we order. We would both highly recommend Trevor's and will be going back again!
Trevor’s at the tracks Great food - patio is very clean, well lit and most of all so INVITING! Took the train up from Oceanside to lunch with my mother and kids - jasmine our waitress was LOVELY! very knowledgeable about the menu, answered all questions, and her recommendation about the mac and cheese did not disappoint! So dang good!
I chose this restaurant due to its proximity to downtown, situated just off the main street. The ambiance, both indoors and outdoors, was exceptionally warm and welcoming. The patio featured outdoor heaters for comfort during meals, complemented by live entertainment that enhanced the experience without being overwhelming. Inside, we were seated in high-backed chairs by the window, allowing us to observe the trains arriving and departing. The service was outstanding, with the staff promptly attending to our needs. The food was exquisite, with generous portions that were satisfying without leading to waste. They offered wine samples to help us select the perfect pairing for our meal. We decided to order the Mac-n-cheese to take with us for a late-night snack after the concert, which proved to be an excellent choice to share. The overall atmosphere was friendly and courteous. I would highly recommend this establishment and eagerly anticipate my next visit.
The restaurant is in a great location and has such a nice outside dining area, there’s a bar outside as well. The staff was fantastic and so was the food. The menu had lots of different options. Basically something for everyone. But dessert was the true star! The carrot coconut cake and the toffee pudding cake are exceptional! The ice cream has to be made in house, it was the best I’ve ever had in my entire life, and I get around lol
This was our first visit to Trevor's. It certainly will not be our last! The restaurant is very large with both indoor and outdoor seating. It used to be a train station so it is located right next to the tracks. If you eat inside, you can watch the trains go by. So cool! There was a short wait for a table inside. The outside patio looked great but it was packed. Our waitress took excellent care of us and made several great food suggestions. The food was delicious, fresh and very tasty. We loved our visit for lunch and will definitely be going back. The cost of the food was in line with the quality of the food and how nice the restaurant was.
Taking the train from north Orange County to San Juan Capistrano was an experience that felt like stepping back in time while embracing the convenience of modern travel. The ride itself was peaceful, with views of Southern California’s varied landscapes flashing by—suburbs giving way to stretches of open space and eventually leading into the historic charm of San Juan Capistrano. Once I arrived, I made my way to a charming restaurant located just steps away from the train station. The outdoor patio, which overlooks the iconic station, offered the perfect vantage point to take in the timeless atmosphere of the area while enjoying an exceptional meal. The restaurant’s design masterfully integrates the train station’s vintage charm with a modern, elevated aesthetic. From the moment I stepped onto the patio, I was struck by how seamlessly the ambiance captured both history and sophistication. The glow of string lights overhead, combined with the gentle hum of conversation and the occasional distant whistle of a passing train, created a warm and inviting atmosphere that felt both lively and tranquil. It was the kind of place where you could easily lose track of time, immersed in good company and even better food. The menu was nothing short of delightful, offering a range of thoughtfully crafted dishes that showcased fresh, vibrant ingredients and bold flavors. Each bite felt intentional, as though the chef had carefully curated every element to create a perfect balance of taste and texture. Choosing just one dish was nearly impossible, as every option seemed more enticing than the last. To complement the meal, the cocktail menu offered an impressive selection of handcrafted drinks, each as beautiful as it was delicious. The mixologists clearly knew their craft, creating beverages that weren’t just drinks—they were experiences in their own right. Every sip seemed to melt away the stresses of the day, leaving only the joy of the moment. Dining on the patio added an extra layer of magic to the evening. The open-air setting allowed me to fully appreciate the charm of the surrounding area. I could see the station’s historic architecture lit up against the night sky, its timeless beauty reminding me of a bygone era while I sat comfortably in the present. The cool evening breeze carried with it the faint scent of nearby gardens, further enhancing the sensory experience. The soft glow of candlelight on the tables and the gentle murmur of trains arriving and departing in the distance added a cinematic quality to the evening, as though I were part of a story unfolding in this enchanting setting. Overall, the night was a perfect blend of history, ambiance, and culinary excellence. Taking the train and dining at this incredible spot wasn’t just a meal—it was an experience that engaged all the senses, leaving me feeling relaxed, inspired, and eager to return. It’s the kind of outing that reminds you to slow down, savor the moment, and appreciate the beauty of the simple yet extraordinary things in life.
Really enjoyed seating outside listening to live music and watching trains pass by every now and then. The restaurant is located a few feet from the rails and has a welcoming outdoor and indoor seating. I recommend outdoor for larger parties. Service was great, food was good, and ambiance was welcoming.
The flat bread with cauliflower crust is AMAZING... Probably one of the best i've ever had. We also had the truffle fries and they were so yummy! We will definitely be back! Great customer service as well!
I haven't been to San Juan Capistrano in over 30 years even living in OC! We celebrated a birthday last night and this amazing restaurant is set in such a quaint little town with little shops and the train tracks right next to it. We had a party of 11 and were seated quickly (they don't take reservations) and our server was attentive and very friendly. I chose the Wok Thai Curry Cioppino and it was absolutely delicious!! Lots of salmon, shrimp and scallops. Their guacamole and Brussel sprouts were to die for. We had pumpkin cobbler with ice cream for dessert. Highly highly recommend this place!! We will be back for sure.
Really an amazing place for lunch or dinner! Great menu options! Seeing mocktails on the menu is always a win for me! Drink: try the Winter Mule mocktail, it’s amazing!! It’s gingery and tastes like a fruity chai. Food we ordered: chips and guac as an appetizer, it tasted very fresh! Chips were good salted perfectly. Shrimp Tacos, spicy little shrimps but it was balanced so nicely with that Chipotle cream sauce. Korean pork ribs, cooked beautifully fall off the bone. The sauce was sweet and spicy, pairing it with fries is odd, maybe a cucumber salad would’ve been better imo (but my dad liked the fries!) lastly the Karate chop salad (my moms go to order) fresh, good thai peanut dressing.
Great vibes both on the patio and inside - we got seated rather quickly at a hightop on Saturday night, party of 2. Food was familiar but with a twist. Easy parking in the paid parking structure. In an energetic area and a good option if you’re entertaining guests. Would go back again and try more items off the menu.
First timer to Trevor's at the Tracks. We sat in the patio to hear the live music which was wonderful. Patio has retrackable covers and umbrellas to block direct sunlight. We had a cab bottle from their CA wine list. I was unfamiliar with any labels but tastes were offered and tried two and chose one. Our entrees were the brussel sprout starter and the grilled salmon with veg chopped hash and cauliflower puree. Both were Amazing and the cab went surprisingly well with flavors. We had the starter served with the entree to give flavor balance, it worked! Service was efficient and wine glasses were refilled by service when observed low. We met Trevor the owner just by hapchance not that we knew him but recognized him from restaurant's good reputation. He is a humble owner and was working doing meanial staff jobs like sweeping and moving umbrellas. No arrogance here. Perfectly comfortable dining experience and highly recommended! *****
Trevor’s at the Tracks is a true gem in the heart of San Juan Capistrano. The location is unbeatable—set right next to the train station, making it a perfect spot for people watching and soaking in the charming energy of the town. We sat outside on the patio and enjoyed watching the trains roll in and out while people came and went. It added a lively, nostalgic atmosphere to our meal. We ordered the Mac & Cheese with Chicken Parmesan and the Spicy Pasta. Both dishes were absolutely delicious. The Mac & Cheese is rich and decadent—definitely a comfort food indulgence, and more than my mom could finish. The Spicy Pasta brought the perfect amount of heat without being overwhelming. Loved the fresh mushrooms, tomatoes and spinach in the dish. The service was top-notch. Friendly, attentive staff made us feel welcome from the moment we sat down. Trevor’s is clearly set up to accommodate everything from casual lunches to larger gatherings, and the ambiance is versatile enough for any occasion. Whether you're a local or just visiting San Juan Capistrano, Trevor’s at the Tracks is a must-visit spot.
Such a quaint area and ambiance. I recommend it as a cool experience to all. The flatbread I had was yummy. My friend has the short rib Bahn mi. I had the spicy Sicilian flatbread and it was great, the only comment I have is that one side of it was darkened crispy crust and the other side was perfectly cooked. Other than that it was a great experience.
The food was absolutely amazing here! We tried the karate chip chicken salad and a chicken sandwich, along with the tropical cobbler for desserts. There was a moderate to long wait probably because it was a Labor Day weekend, but it was absolutely worth it! They were even kind enough to serve a patty for our dog! Adding to the ambiance was the live music that just made the experience even better. We'll certainly be visiting this place again!
Unique delicious food. Great service. We had the sushi rolls which vary and they were so fresh and good! Reasonably priced also. The steak sandwich was really good. When you dont know what to drink, ASK. The servers know the drinks and have great recommendations.
Brought my dad on a walk around the area, I've been here before with my friend and brought him the next day. He liked the live music and we went here almost everyday for the vibes, food wasn't too bad- selectively I'd go for the flatbread (really liked the chicken pesto&bbq chicken) and service was great. Dad labs the taco beer 3 days in a row! So this is our go to now Everytime he comes back to Cali, my parents likes this place. Worth the buck for the atmosphere and overall experience.
The waiter was friendly and very very accommodating. We had a group of five couples and he allowed us each to have separate checks! Wow! I had a crispy chicken sandwich which was very good and the fries as well. My wife had a Seoul bowl which was even better! The setting right next to the tracks was very nice and it was high energy place on a beautiful sunny Saturday!
This is a great place to chill with live music, good drinks and excellent food. The only (and not major) issue with the ambiance is the closeness of the tables on the patio. If you are next to a loud group - like some who don’t live here and ride the train from Santa Ana etc - it can be noisy. The food is actually outstanding. See attached pics.
First time here and everything we ate was delicious… kiddos loved the food which is always a win win!! Jasmine was our waitress and she was kind, attentive and informative!!! We definitely will be back!
It's an awesome old train station that has been turned into a beautiful restaurant. Great outdoor and indoor seating. They have love entertainment too in the patio. The Ahi tuna nachos were amazing. Also just across the train tracks is the oldest neighborhood in California, with great art stores. Great place to walk after a great meal.
Trevor’s on the Tracks is a must! Steps from the Amtrak stop in San Juan Capistrano. Beautiful setting! Spacious restaurant, excellent ambiance, and cuisine. Many food / drink options & fresh produce. We even had the pleasure of meeting Trevor - nice guy! Looking forward to our next visit. Thanks for a great outing with friends. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Trevor's has to be our favorite spot! Whether it's for a great bite to eat, drinks at the outdoor bar with the train rolling by, or even for our rehearsal dinner, Trevor's always pleases! Their GM runs a great staff, providing amazing service! Keep it up, Matt! We'll keep coming.

Excellent food spot with great vegan options. The enclosed outdoor seating with heaters made it extremely comfortable, even in cooler weather. The live music created such a fun atmosphere. Our waitress, Diana, was the best; incredibly attentive and gave excellent recommendations. She really elevated the whole experience. Would definitely come back!
A delicous restaurant at the train station. (This building used to be the train station.). It's trackside location is a great place to train watch for Metrolink and Amtrak. The menu is full of interesting and unique dishes that scream "order me." Flavors are well balanced. Highlights from our meal: - Fig and mushroom flatbread - the bacon wrapped dates - the unique house made ketchup that turned the already delicious fries into something that couldn't be put down. Service is friendly and helpful. Prices are a little high, but worth it for the quality. Special thanks to the gentleman working in the adjoining parking lot. He reccomended Trevor's immediately and made it clear that the right choice. If he's not getting a commission for the referral, he should!

Average food where the atmosphere stands out. Tbh the food is not worth the price. Go to bloom or mayfield. That said, the service is great and the atmosphere is borderline touristy. Be prepared for a $100 per person for a couple cocktails and fries.
We visited Trevor's at the Tracks on a Saturday during our quick day trip from San Diego. After enjoying the Mission we stopped by and ordered a Sandwich for my wife and some pasta for me plus a couple of drinks. We were seated just in front of the tracks overlooking the trains go by. We had a good time. Food was good, service was great, prices were higher than we expected. We will consider stopping here to eat during future visits to the area.
BLUF: great atmosphere, average food, overpriced… The best thing about this restaurant is its location. This is a great time to visit San Juan Capistrano. Nearby trails are filled with flowers, old town is vibrant, and weather is just perfect to sit in a patio and enjoy a meal and chat with friends/family. Now Trevor’s is a good option if you care less about the quality of food and more about the experience. Nothing bad, I just wasn’t impressed with what was served for the price. There is usually live music, it’s not that great tho … I should give them credit for their coffee! Both the bean selection and brew were perfect Lastly, give it a try sitting inside, it’s one of few restaurants that interior is beautifully designed and has a warm feeling
We visited Trevor at the Tracks to celebrate our anniversary, and the setting couldn’t have been better. The restaurant is located in a beautifully restored 1894 railway depot, with a cozy indoor-outdoor vibe that adds so much character. We started with the Brussels sprouts which were crispy, flavorful, and definitely a must-try. The pasta was okay, but the English Sticky Toffee Pudding Cake stole the show. Moist, rich, and perfectly paired with the ice cream. It was unexpectedly amazing. I’d go back just for that. One disappointment: my husband had spoken to the hostess beforehand, asking if they could surprise me with a crème brûlée and a candle for our anniversary. She said they typically only do that for birthdays but agreed to do something special. Unfortunately, nothing happened. Our server handed us the regular dessert menu and mentioned crème brûlée wasn’t available due to their rotating dessert menu. While we understand things happen, it was a bit disheartening that the message didn’t get passed along. That said, we still enjoyed, and the dessert made up for it. A little more communication would’ve made it perfect.
It was raining in the bar so we got a table with a view of the tracks. Great waitress - excellent food - have to go back for the all in-house desserts but we were too full - huge portions. Excellent wine list. Pricy for lunch. Obviously a lot of tourists - went on a Friday in the rain - it may be quieter Mon-Thurs when it’s not a holiday week.
While I didn't have the opportunity to dine at Trevor's at the Tracks during my visit to San Juan Capistrano, I was thoroughly impressed by its historic charm and unique setting. Situated within the original 1894 train depot, the restaurant seamlessly blends its rich history with a vibrant atmosphere. The beautifully preserved architecture, combined with the proximity to active train lines, offers a distinctive ambiance that's both nostalgic and lively. Observing the meticulously maintained grounds and vintage rail cars was a highlight, and I look forward to returning for a dining experience that matches the captivating surroundings.
Next spot was Trevor’s at the Tracks which we ended up finding while heading down to San Juan for the Halloween festivities. This place kept popping up on Yelp so we decided to give it a shot and honestly getting seated quickly on Halloween night with a party of five was a big plus right off the bat. We started with the flatbread and that was actually really solid and disappeared fast. Great flavor overall and the arugula on top of the figs added a really nice bitter sweet salty savory balance that I was impressed by. The truffle fries were a bit of a letdown though because they honestly tasted more like garlic fries than truffle fries and I didnt really get much truffle flavor at all which was kind of a bummer. My wife ordered the Cobb salad and the portion size was massive like huge which is great but it came out super dry. We asked if there was vinaigrette on it and were told yes but none of us could taste it so we asked for extra and even then it still didnt do much for the flavor. Another friend ordered the prime rib sandwich and said it was good with decent flavor especially with the au jus on the side but nothing that really wowed her especially for around $30. I ordered the Burger of Burgers because how do you not and that honestly saved the experience for me. Big patty great flavor and it definitely delivered. The sweet potato fries that came with it were also a solid choice and something I would recommend. Overall not a bad place at all just definitely more on the pricey side and I am not fully convinced the quality always matches the cost but there were a few highlights that made it enjoyable.
To-go order: I had a G.C. to Trevor's so I decided to give it a shot. For my family of 4 we ordered a kids burger, kids salmon, kids steak, and the far east fire ribs. The kids burger was just okay. The kids steak is a low quality cut, good enough for most kids I suppose. The salmon was delicious, my daughter ate every last morcel. The ribs were mine and oh my gosh they were so good. The entire slab of meat fell right off the bone for easy delicious consumption. The atmosphere of the restaurant is not really my vibe, but I could definitely go for more of those ribs.
1/4/26: Came back the second time with some friends. 1. Pear Favor cocktail: 4/5 - great, well balanced with flavors, sweetness and citrusy. I would prefer some spicy. 2. Cob Salad: 3.5/5 - good but lacked of flavors. The dressing was so bland, needs acidity, salt and pepper. Otherwise, it would be terrific. 3. Burger: 3.5/5 - good but I missed the umami, lacked of the charred smoky flavor. 4. Thai curry dish: 2.5/5 - ok, too sour and abit salty. The acidity overpowered everything else. The service was good.
First visit, this is a great, very different location, with a train stopping literally next door. The “Pretty Bird Chicken Sandwich” ($24) was very good, served with very good fries and spicy ketchup. The food was served hot, in a very reasonable time. The “English Sticky Toffee Pudding Cake ($14), was just OK. I’ve had this dessert in England and this was a poor try at it, although it did taste OK. The service was good, paid city parking lot ($2 / hr), but the total experience was quite dear, not someplace to visit regularly. Recommended.

Great location in SJC, this would be a great place for a date night or family dinner. We sat outside where the tracks are and had a pleasant meal. I ordered the Aloha salad which was really tasty and felt like it was made with premium ingredients. The dressing was a bit odd and didn’t seem to match the salad, it was more like a sauce you’d put on a burger but it still tasted good. Would definitely recommend this restaurant!

This place has a really cool vibe but the food was awful. We ordered shrimp tacos & steak frits NO NO NO! Definitely would not recommend. It took 20 minutes for our waiter to come & it was just NOT GOOD. Sorry guys. I’m here to be truthful that’s how we all get better.
The music was great and the restaurant itself was beautiful. The atmosphere was really nice and enjoyable. Unfortunately, the sandwich tasted moldy, which was very disappointing. The salad was not good at all either. The wings and fries were good, but because of the overall experience, I won’t be coming back to this restaurant again.
Great location but way to busy and very loud with people. We couldn't have much conversation without yelling. The music was nice. The food was grossly over priced although it looked good, it had no flavor. The chile relleno had so little cheese you couldn't see it or taste it! The fries were good but I didn't go there for fries. The service was terrible and she couldn't hear you if you called for her. It was my birthday and my friends also I was very disappointed!
Beautiful atmosphere, good music, good service. I ordered from the new menu Fri nov 22 some chimichurri fries that tasted Nothing like chimichurri, full of a lemon flavor, a green sauce all over the fries that was simply not good at all. It was like 25 bucks or more, pretty bad. Thats not no chimichurri. The seafood bowl was tiny in my opinion and the flavour was bah, was expecting more for the ingredients it supposed to have. The chicken milanesa was pretty good. The carrot cake was sensational. Pretty dang expensive for the flavour of the food
On our first and most recent visit, four days ago, we had a truly terrible experience. From the start, the middle-aged server responded to our questions with irritation, simply saying that “all the dishes are good” instead of offering any real guidance. When the soup arrived, it was a bizarre mix of random ingredients and not enjoyable at all. The overall food quality did not match the high prices. Even worse was the service. Every interaction with the server felt hostile. We waited a long time even for basics like water, and when we moved to another table because we were cold, the server reacted aggressively, slamming dishes down, pouring water carelessly (even spilling it on my phone), and showing clear disrespect. The final straw was a frozen chicken salad that was completely inedible. The server’s rude attitude and rough behavior made this one of the worst dining experiences we’ve ever had.
I brought my wife and three other women to Trevor's for lunch on Saturday afternoon. We had one party in a wheelchair. We sat in a pretty cramped and loud environment in the fireplace room. I asked the waitress if she would bring my wife and me a separate check. She said "I get it I've been doing this 20 years." I ordered the nacho ahi, which I would not order again and my wife ordered a bowl of clam chowder soup, which was very good. After dinner, our waitress brought my wife and me separate checks? That was no problem, I just paid them both. $28.02 for the ahi and chips, $15.09 for the clam chowder soup. So my bill was $43.11. I left both checks for her with $60 cash. The waitress brought back change or credit card receipts for two of the other guests but but never brought back my change. I guess she thought that the extra $16.89 was a tip. After waiting 15 minutes for her to bring me change I asked for the waitress. I asked her for my change. She brought it back and counted it on the table in front of all the other guests. Made me feel kind of cheesy having to ask for my change. My suggestion is to have your waitresses simply ask if the patron would like their change. Then the clients don't have to ask for their change. A lot of people would have probably been too embarrassed to do so. I didn't feel like her service was worth $16.80 but I left her 20% anyway, being that waitressing is a tough job.
