Opinions de Eugenio Italian Ristorante & More San Marcos
This place is a gem. Located in a dinky strip mall between an Aldi and a Wing Stop, you'd never expect fine Italian cuisine with delicious food, interesting new takes, and great service. Yet here we are. There's a little twist to many of the dishes. The crème brûlée for example comes as flights with three different flavors. The lobster bisque soup comes with shrimp. The wait staff is knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly, and patiently guides you through the menu. It's just a great experience all around. This unassuming little place in the butt of San Marcos is a secret highpoint of the city.
Great food, great people, great value Probably the best spinach ravioli I’ve ever had! The dinner rolls (I think ciabatta ?) were also one of the highlights. Super friendly staff and attentive. We were staying at a nearby hotel and one of the suggestions on their list was Eugenio Italian Ristorante. So we decided to give the place a try. The inside restaurant was packed and we soon found out it was best to get reservations in advance. However, there were available chairs outside in a covered patio, so we decided we would sit out there and enjoy the weather. Although the specials sounded amazing, who couldn’t resist fried mozzarella, because we didn’t want leftovers, we decided to split the chicken piccata with spinach, ravioli, mashed potatoes, vegetables, eggplant. We were not disappointed! The presentation was fancy and the food exceeded our expectations. Again, compliments to the chef! If you’re trying to decide what restaurant to go to, you don’t need to look further. This is the place to go. Great food, great people, great value!
This restaurant is a gem! It was near our hotel so we went there for dinner. Reservations are recommended because it was a Wednesday evening and they were filled up. New got there early (5:00) so it wasn’t crowded, but by 5:45 they were filling up quick. Our waitress, Anna, was fabulous. She was friendly and had suggestions and recommendations. The food was absolutely devine. It is wheelchair accessible (I’m in a wheelchair). I made reservations online and mentioned my wheelchair and had a table set up for us when we came in. If we lived there we’d be there at least once a week. If you’re in the area, you have to try Eugenio’s!!! You won’t be disappointed.
The staff was so ready to ensure a pleasant evening by being attentive and friendly . They have daily specials . I haven’t had ratatouille this good in forever . Perfectly executed . Each of their dishes pairs well with their wine selection. AND don’t forget the free hot bread . The menu said it has a daily cheesecake that sounded amazing but we were too full. We will definitely be back. I recommend making reservations. Two thumbs up in Z formation !!!!!!!
We made reservations for 4 of us. I highly recommend that as the tables are limited. It is a very quaintly decorated Italian place. Not “overdressed”, but classy. We went right as they opened for dinner so the service was good. Our server was David, he was attentive and friendly. We know that good food takes time so we enjoyed our time together while we waited between courses. We had the Marinated Salmon Carpaccio and the Mozzarella Caprese for appetizers. They were both very fresh and tasty. For dinner we had Butternut Squash Ravioli, Vegan and Gluten Free Garden Vegetable Ravioli, Osso Buco, and the Lasagna al Ragu Bolognese. Everything came out together and was piping hot, which was amazing. Everyone loved the food. It was absolutely delicious. For dessert we had the tiramisu, which was so light and fluffy. They even had Happy Birthday written in chocolate on the plate. We will definitely visit again to try more items on the menu! So good!!! Don’t miss this place if you enjoy gourmet cuisine.
Wonderful italian restaurant tucked away and inconspicuous in a San Marcos shopping center, must get reservations! So worth it!
Don’t let the location fool you…. N e you walk inside you’re transported to a small Italian restaurant in Italy! We got the two appetizer specials, divine. We e joyed the lobster tortellini, seafood pasta, ravioli, and boar pasta. All were wonderful.
Love. Love. Love. Anna was a pleasure to be served by. You WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED to enjoy your evening here. Wine is priced right, food was AMAZING, and the presentation is spot on. Their attention to detail is awesome and very authentic. Chilean Sea bass was perfect and we loved their house made pistachio pesto with our appetizer.
This restaurant on the outside does not look like much but the food is absolutely awesome. The service was very well and she took care of us. I would definitely recommend getting the tiramisu for dessert it was probably one of the best I've ever had. Raviolis are fantastic. The menu is a large menu lots of things to eat can't wait to go back and try other stuff. The garlic bread is also one to definitely get
Just a delightful place to have a delicious meal. Never disappoints. During our most recent visit, my wife had the Lasagna Siciliana (Eggplant) and she absolutely loved it. The Filetto di Branzino (Seabass) that I had was just delectable and the Tiramisu was probably the best we have ever had. Compliments to the chef! The service was impeccable and we will certainly be going back (as often as we can).
My neighbor had been telling me about Eugenio's for a while and last night we decided to give it a try. Excellent food, excellent (and very friendly) service and reasonable prices, definitely a new favorite place for us! We started with the Calamari Fritti, nice portion with rings, tentacles and slices of calamari steak, very delicious! I had the Tortelloni di Aragosta (Lobster Tortelloni with Shrimp in a Lobster and Shrimp cream sauce), very tasty and actually had Lobster in the tortelloni plus 3 large shrimp. My wife had Pollo Parmigiana, it was delicious and a very generous portion. My daughter had Rigatoni E Polpettine, the meatballs were absolutely delicious and the sauce and pasta were fantastic. Very authentic food and a great atmosphere, felt like we were dining at a small Cucina Italiana in a New York neighborhood... We will definitely be back!
We went here on Christmas Eve after a reservation at another restaurant got messed up. We called last minute for 5 people and they were able to accommodate us. We were so happy that we ended up going there. The service was so good from the minute we got there and the food was amazing. We got calamari, pizza, garlic bread, elk special, seafood pasta, chicken piccata, and pasta bolognese. Everything was so delicious and fresh. I’ve always heard good things about this place, but had never been. We will definitely be back soon.

This place is a hidden gem. It has the atmosphere, the food and the great service. The food was excellent. We were there on a Friday evening so it was very busy. Its a tiny intimate place so make sure you get a reservation.
Excellent food in a hidden spot! It's San Diego's version of a boutique NYC Italian restaurant...portions are good sized, too. Their special garlic bread is beyond amazing and a must try!
What a wonderful experience. We were unsure based on location, what to expect, but from the moment we walked in the service was phenomenal. The food was probably some of the best Italian we’ve ever had in North San Diego. We had the arugula & shaved vegetable salad, and the chicken Parmesan, which was enough to split. Very generous portions. Fantastic marinara sauce in the side of pasta we added. Highly recommend! Prices higher but fair when you consider portion size and of course the cost of food.
Wonderful food. Excellent wait staff. Interior is cozy. Reservations are a good idea. We arrived just minutes before 5pm on a Saturday night and we're fortunate to get the only inside available table. There's outdoor seating available.
Typically this restaurant is always packed and buzzing! Stopped in for a quick bite and was so glad there was a seat. The staff was so friendly and knowledgeable. Impressive wine list. The food was so delicious. The shrimp and squash flower appetizer was amazing- Chef's kiss! The tiramisu was to die for! I can’t wait to come back and try more menu choices. Highly recommend this spot! A++
My husband and I went there when they first opened. Then the world shut down and we hadn't been back. We checked and it was open. So we went for a date night and it was just as good as it was when they open if not better. The food was so good and the services was so helpful. The chief makes excellent food. We had no complains about anything we ate. We highly recommended and are definitely going back.

Wow! This place is amazing! My filet was very good and the sides were incredible.... But my date's lasagna was the best I have ever tasted! Reservations are recommended.
Eugenio’s is always consistent and food is delicious! Some of my favorite Italian food in all of San Diego. I had my birthday dinner here and they did not disappoint. Really quality restaurant.
Just tried this placevthe other week due to good reviews. We were not disappointed !! First, make reservations, ( the online reservation is glitchy. CALL IT IN ) it was packed on a Monday night. Our server was Jason and he was AWESOME. He was super knowledgeable about all the dishes, right down to how different sauces were made. He did an amazing job despite not having a busboy. I had the Lobster Tortelli, and it was YUMMY ! The other popular dish at the table was the Chicken Parmigian, it looked incredible ! The only small thing I dont recommend is the garlic bread, it was sub par. That said, this place is a KEEPER !! Great food, service and prices. Hidden gem for sure !!

I wanted to buy a gift card for my mom for her birthday. I live out of state. Sent them an email. Never heard back. Called the restaurant and I was told they don't sell gift cards over the phone. There is no place in their website to purchase gift cards. I was told they only sell gift cards in-person. I'm sure they do very well as a business, but I can't understand why they would turn away the opportunity to bring in a customer for an evening (and potentially get a returning customer). I'm trying to give them my money and some business and they can't find a way to make that happen. Very disappointing.
