The best cooked sushi I have tried so far.. My husband and I had lunch at Joy's and we were delighted at how good the food taste. The restaurant very crowded so the food came relatively quickly.. We had their vegetable Tempura, avocado roll and crab roll... We ate everything.. It was so good!

Food was so good and so filling. Definitely a great sushi spot. My only note was for our group gratuity was included but the receipt still had a section to add additional gratuity so just be mindful if you have a large group to pay attention to the receipt. Otherwise everything else was lovely.

This is overdue. I love Joy sushi for 4 years now and just thought to share it. I need Joy sushi to stay around for many more years No other place has Jean, so no other place is good enough. She's so nice and the team she's with are amazing. Our service is always good, they clean both the tables AND the chairs. Covid doesn't skip furniture. The sushi is frakkin fantastic-just look at my nigiri!!! They aren't messing around with the portion size for the price. My standard order is Hamachi kama, 1 speci roll and mixed tempura. But tonight we did nigiri and it was freaking BEAUTIFUL AND DELICIOUS. I REGRET NOTHING ABOUT MY CARB LOADING Tonight. LONG LOVE JOY SUSHI!!! 🙌🏾 🔥 🍥 🍣🍱😍❤️💯💋🙌🏾

I LOVE this place. I'm a sashimi lover and to date, this has been the best place to get the best bang for your buck in terms of that. Give the chirashi and the deep fried oysters a shot. The service is decent, but I really don't care given how much I love the quality and portions of their fish. :D

This was my first time trying Poke. I had the salmon and spicy Tuna, it was delicious. My husband ordered Susi And wasn't disappointed. Next time I'm in SF I will definitely come back.

All time San Mateo favorite! Friendly staff and great food. Update September 2021: We moved from San Mateo and haven't visited Joy in more than 2.5 years. First time back on Saturday night! Not only did staff remember us and our son who was only 2 years old at the time, but also our special orders with extra wasabi! We miss Joy so much! Joy has no indoor seating so choose between ample outdoor dining or to go. Fabulous!

Good friendly servers. Fast service. We ordered the poke bowl and bento box - big portions and fresh! Only downside is a bit too salty so I drank a ton of water after. Tons of options on the menu and some crazier fusion rolls and dishes. The restaurant was dimly lit but it's a solid weeknight spot.

We went there for my husband's birthday. We were seated on the second floor per my request. It was a bit dim for my preference but we ended up sitting under a lamp so it was good. Food was delicious and clean. I didn't get a pic of everything but I ordered the bento with 2 items and much to my surprise it also comes with mixed tempura with 1 shrimp. My bento was with salmon teriyaki with chicken katsu. 2 things I didn't like were the green salad they give you, it was drowned in a dressing that was a bit too tangy, and the chicken karaage was tasteless for some reason and it was a bit dry. Sushi was good, handroll, and sashimi.

We didn’t know Spanish so we had to communicate with body language to ask for some water. The staff that actually took our orders knew English, but he was missing the first 10 minutes, counting from when we finished scanning the menu. The food was very good. Fresh sashimi and sushi rolls. The only thing that could be improved was the plain udon. As far as I know, even Japanese plain udon contains seaweed, fish cakes and tempura crumbs. This one had none. Literally, just udon and broth, not even chopped green onions.

Got the smoked and we hated it. It really didn't compliment the sushi rice. Customer service was good but food could've been better.

I am so disappointed I thought this teriyaki chicken would be so good first of all the portion is ridiculous for 16 or $17. The chicken was so dry I thought I was going to choke absolutely horrible chicken teriyaki. So the portion is tiny the chicken is dry (why use chicken breast?)and the sauce doesn't have the best taste but from what taste it does have they barely drizzled any on top anyways. I will never be ordered from here again.. I bought 3 of these garbage teriyaki plates . Total waste of money. Worst chicken teriyaki I've tried!!!!!!

I am so disappointed I thought this teriyaki chicken would be so good first of all the portion is ridiculous for 16 or $17. The chicken was so dry I thought I was going to choke absolutely horrible chicken teriyaki. So the portion is tiny the chicken is dry (why use chicken breast?)and the sauce doesn't have the best taste but from what taste it does have they barely drizzled any on top anyways. I will never be ordered from here again.. I bought 3 of these garbage teriyaki plates . Total waste of money. Worst chicken teriyaki I've tried!!!!!!
