It has been years since we last visited The Cheesecake Factory, so we decided to have lunch at the San Mateo branch when we visited San Francisco. We were so satisfied with our order of Fried Calamari, Chinese Chicken Salad, Ahi Poke Nachos, and Spicy Chicken Chipotle Pasta that we didn't have room for dessert. It was that good!

our group of 8 came by for an early celebration today. the menu was rather extensive, we took some time before finally placing our orders. the warm brown bread they served while waiting was really good! & we loved every single one of the starters we ordered. the crab wantons, fried cheese, korean fried cauliflower.. yums! especially the cauliflower - a must order! kids adored the meatball pasta, while the jamaican shrimp was surprisingly flavourful. we saved some space in our tummies for their cheesecakes, & settled on 3 flavours for sharing. everyone of them was so so so rich & yummy.. we left with our bellies stuffed.. 😋

Fairly extensive menu and good size portions. Had the fish and chips which was average. The fried chicken with pasta was a bit dry. Only highlight was the cheesecake.

Great service. The fried Mac and cheese remains our go to dish. The fish tacos come with generous portion. They are crispy and delicious. The Korean fried chicken turns out to be more chicken nuggets than the drumsticks and wings normally served in Korean restaurants and I would stick with the Korean restaurants for the dish.

The last time I went to Cheesecake Factory they didn't take online reservations so that was a HUGE improvement. We went on a Friday night and were seated within 5 minutes after checking in. The server, Vanessa, was very nice but perhaps overseeing too many tables since it took a while for her to greet us and ask for our order (she was very apologetic). We ordered ahi tuna nachos for appetizer and I ordered the steak frites as my main dish. The kitchen might have also been overtaxed because we finished our large sodas, ate all the bread and butter and still had to wait a while for our food to arrive and when it did, it all came at once. Had we known the appetizer would arrive at the same time as our mains I probably wouldn't have ordered it. It tasted fine but the tuna and avocado to chip ratio was way too low...we ended up with a plate full of uneaten plain chips. The steak was cooked perfectly to medium rare but the portion size was small than I'm used to (about 4-5 oz.) but I'm not complaining because the price of the dish reflected the small size of steak. The portion of fries, on the other hand, was huge. I'd say my large plate was 70% fries and 30% steak. Fries were hot and crispy. Ambiance is typical Cheesecake Factory...loud and lots of birthday celebrations happening.

It's a good place to go if you plan on being at a meal for a good chunk of time. Depending on how busy they are, can determine the amount of time you can expect to spend there. Being that it is an anchor point in Hillsdale Mall, the restaurant stays fairly busy. The food portions are more than enough to either share with someone else or take leftovers for 1-2 more meals later. Happy Hour deals are worth it too **Edit** @Cheesecake:: One area that needs attention, back area, next to the windows. The last time I was there, service was slower. I visited a few times when I had no other options available. I'm not a fan of the food, most of it is very fat and calorie rich, most are fried or deep fried. Service is hit or miss, you can wait forever for someone to show up, or remember to bring that drink you asked for 15 mins prior. The atmosphere is great and the service is friendly. However, the only standout food item we had was the cheesecake. I ordered the miso salmon and it was overcooked and dry, and the steamed rice was also quite dry. I don’t remember exactly what my wife ordered, but her dish was also overcooked in a similar way. Surprisingly, my son’s kids meal—fried chicken tenders—ended up being the best dish at the table. It almost feels like most of the effort (and cost) goes into the atmosphere and restaurant rent rather than the food. If you’re coming specifically for the cheesecake, it might be worth it. But if you’re looking for a place with consistently good food, you may want to consider other options.

We had family visiting and wanted to take them out for a fun dinner with our kids. They chose The Cheesecake Factory, which I was fine with — it’s usually a reliable spot where everyone can find something they like. We went on a Monday night thinking we’d get seated right away, but ended up waiting close to an hour. The staff mentioned it was due to needing a large enough table, which I understand, though it seemed like parts of the restaurant were closed. The food was pretty much what you’d expect — generous portions and plenty of leftovers (enough for another meal or two!). The ambiance was fine, though our section was noticeably cold, which the staff acknowledged. I’m not someone who usually gets cold, but I definitely was that evening. The most disappointing part was the service. Our waitress seemed a little off — maybe she was just having a rough day, but it didn’t feel like the right fit for her. All in all, not a terrible experience, but nothing that makes me eager to return.

Just sitting here enjoying the moment and staring at mouse poop on the window ledge at the booth inside restaurant by Hillsdale ST let waitress and manager know about it but they didn't seem to worried about it nor did they apologize. Ordered DoorDash. Took over an hour (estimated time was 26 minutes!) and was missing an entree. Very amateurish from such a well respected chain. I get that it’s the day before thanksgiving and they’re probably busy but that’s not an excuse. You should know by now you’re busy times and schedule accordingly. My order (chicken Madeira) finally arrived after 5 pm. Very underwhelming. About 2 ounces of sauce and I’d say less than an ounce of raw mushrooms. Seriously??????

This is the kind of restaurant where people have to worry about food safety when they dine in. I had dinner here with 2 companions. One of us went home with a stomach ache and very thirsty throat. one of us kept vomiting for about 5 hours the same night, feeling very sick; and the other one (namely me) vomited and had diarrhea. Not sure what it was which caused these symptoms. Maybe the seafood dish, or maybe the chicken, or the sauce. There were way too many items on the menu, over a hundred. The staff was friendly but seemed incompetent, serving the wrong dish and made a mistake on our bill. The glasses were a little sticky too. Ambience was okay; only if they could tone the music down in the restroom. I didn't see the point of blasting music in the restroom.

The worst and meanest restaurant in the world, honestly. I ordered Alfredo pasta, it was literally dry, without any sauce, tough and tasted bad. I ordered pasta with cheese and basil, it was like dog food, no flavor, no basil, no cheese, very tough and dry. The house salad was good until I added its sauce, which was a little vinegar and twenty kilos of salt. What can I tell you about the French fries, they were cold and I swear they were fried literally hours ago because they looked like everything except potatoes and they even came without any sauce, just ketchup that is supposed to come with potatoes, in addition to any other sauce. The only thing I give 1 out of 10 is the stupid mango juice that came to me without any straw. Imagine that there is a restaurant that respects itself and its customers and puts pasta and food in cheap cardboard boxes. Finally, I want to tell you that you are the worst restaurant in the world and you should be ashamed of yourselves for this food and packaging and be generous and Put spoons and forks and honestly this is the worst $100 I have ever spent in my life
