What an experience! This place has been on my list for a while and I can say it was a great dinner. The highlight of the night were the appetizers. Super tasty and full of flavor, you can’t go wrong with any choices. The steak was also tasty but we loved the pork belly and croquettes. They have a traditional Argentinian grill, with moving the coals to the different stoves too. We are so excited to come back here after their wonderful service!
A great semi formal date night. Food was presented well and delectable. I thought the purple sweet potatoes was a unique addition. Both meals were very good. The red and white wines we had were great. Their list of wines had a lot from Argentina and South America. The staff was appropriately attentive. The bathrooms were beautiful.
This restaurant has a very pleasant upscale ambience. The decor is cohesive, warm, and intimate, great for a special date night. The sound level was pleasantly calm, conducive for conversation. The chairs are uncommonly comfortable. The staff was welcoming and on top of things. The food was deliciously prepared and nicely plated, simply but elegantly. The prices are quite high with dishes being between $35-80 per plate. The sides are extra if you are ordering the steak.
Love the food and the atmosphere . Also had a very nice waiting room I managed to snag a photo of without people in it. The hostess had a smile the whole time, our server Jonathon was very excited about the meals and shared his honest opinions and recommendations which was really fun. And second server Jessica had smile on often and kept our drinks filled. Loved the appetizers, the steaks, the sides, and found unique flavors in each. Will definitely return. Add The Argentinian cookie (alfajor) at the end for a nice treat. An upscale restaurant for a nice date night or special evening out. Or if you’re a foodie and just want to try a new place, I’d add this to your list. :)
We LOVE this new restaurant!! A nice addition to the south end of the valley! The atmosphere is really nice. Low lighting, decor is very on theme, loved seeing the open grill! Staff is kind, knowledgeable, and prompt. We were greeted right away, sat shortly after and upon finishing our meal the owner/manager stopped us on the way out and wanted to thank us for coming in whole assuring our dining experience was satisfactory. I love that it is a smaller dining area! Very good food as well!! Steak was cooked perfectly. A nice change of pace as far as typical steak houses. The Argentina flare is so delish! Beautiful cocktails, great wine selection. We will definitely be coming back. And you should go! We need to keep this restaurant around for ages.
What a great experience! There was a special for 4 proteins, 2 sides, and 2 drinks. It was pricey but worth it. I have always wanted to try picanha. I guess I've been watching too many Guga Foods videos on YouTube, lol. I liked that the proteins came with complimentary sauces. We paid a bit extra for the American wagyu flank steak, roasted veggies, and cheesy rice. And I would do it again! Idk what they put into those grilled vegetables, but they were awesome. Perfectly seasoned. No extra salt required. 😉 I really enjoyed the rice as well. It was almost a parmesan flavor, and it was super cheesy! My favorite protein is probably going to be the American wagyu flank, and close second was the picanha. The spicy chorizo was also really good! We also ordered the Panqueque de Dulce de Leche. It's a crepe filled with dulce de leche and a side of vanilla ice cream. It was glorious. This is my first visit to a Latin steakhouse, and it will definitely not be my last. Loved the food and service!
I am filled with so much joy that this fine establishment opened in Sandy! The steak and lamb were grilled to perfection, the sides were flavorful and the perfect addition to the amazing meat. The dessert was scrumptious, I could eat a dozen of those apple pancakes! The service was spectacular and the atmosphere is so romantic…I love it. This restaurant is officially on top of list for date night and luncheons!
It was a smaller dimly lit establishment. It was nice to be able to see the grill from the table. The food service was fantastic. I forgot to grab a pic of an appetizer chorizo plate which was also great!
One of the best restaurant meals I have ever had. Was greeted at the door by the host staff and invited to a seat while our table was prepared (we arrived about 10 min before our reservation). We were shown to our table within a few minutes. The decor is wonderful and the tables set beautifully. Ambiance was at a level that allowed for quiet conversation. Our server was at the table before we were seated and brought menus. While he was going over the menus and making recommendations a second server brought water, a bread assortment and a very tasty chimichurri. Appetizers were outstanding. Steaks and sides were amazing. Desserts were incredible. Server was very attentive throughout the entire meal without be overbearing. The owner stopped by twice, once recommending a great wine pairing for our steaks. He was very friendly and even took a moment to discuss our Portuguese heritages.
My husband spent time in Argentina, so when I found this restaurant, I was very excited. The staff, the food, the atmosphere is amazing! The sauces they bring are on point! The chimichurri was by far the best! Brought my husband right back to Argentina. Steak was cooked to perfection, and my salmon was flaky and juicy. If you are in the area, you need to try this place if you love steak. You will not be disappointed.
This was my first time at Libertango and I was really impressed with the ambiance, food, and overall experience. When you walk into the restaurant you can smell the firewood grill as if you were in the mountains around a bonfire. The dining room has a classy 1920's vibe with comfortable leather chairs, unique decor, and perfectly balanced lighting. The menu, although on the pricier side, has a variety delicious variety of appetizers and entrees. I ordered the flank steak with mashed potatoes and asparagus. The food was fresh, hot, and delicious (and the presentation was on point too). The staff and owners were friendly and accomodating. My only feedback would be that the service was a little slow at first to take our order. Other than that, I highly recommend dining here as a way to celebrate a special occasion or as a casual night out with friends and family.
This place is exceptional! Al was our waiter and he was very attentive, nice, and answered all of my questions. I found out that the owner is Brazilian and there are two more locations in Brazil. The way they renovated the space from the old restaurant before is so well done. Very chic and high end now. I ordered the lamb chops which were outstanding. The pear dessert was also amazing. I have an allergy to gluten but Al helped me determine what was and was not safe on the menu. Most everything can be altered to be gluten free if it isn’t already. The pear dessert is the only gf dessert option. Definitely recommend Libertango. There’s nothing else like it in the area and they are also open for lunch.
Where do I even begin to describe the remarkable dining experience I had at Libertango Steakhouse? From start to finish, it was an absolute feast for the senses that left me in awe. If you're a steak lover like me, this is the place you need to visit!
The atmosphere is so beautiful here. Great service, great food, great experience. I have pretty rough dairy intolerance issues and they were beyond accommodating. Our waitress heard it once and just helped me all through ordering, recommended what she thought would be good minus dairy and helped me know what to expect. It’s a restaurant that really feels so special and elegant but also cozy and friendly like you’re home. I can’t wait to go back.
What a mind blowing experience! My husband and I dined in yesterday for the first time and cannot wait to return. The drinks, bread, starters, steaks, and sides were all immaculate. Even the water was amazing, as they source it from Italy. This was not expected, but it set us up to understand the attention to detail and quality that was to come in our meal. The steaks have the perfect wood smoke flavor, with a kiss of finishing salt, and they are wonderful without anything else. Although, don’t discount the sauces because they pair beautifully and make every bite new and exciting. Our steaks were cooked perfectly. The knives are specific to each cut, and the craftsmanship of the knives themselves was a treat for us! The team that works there are all friendly, welcoming, and genuinely fun to be around and interact with. You will be full before dessert, please do yourself a favor and still order it. Their espresso is amazing and will help you get through the final course, don’t skip that either. Also, the family who owns/runs the place is just amazing. The son of the owner shared stories with us of what reminds him of his childhood and was clearly passionate about his family’s work. When we left it was closing time and the team was sitting together, laughing and happy, it was by far the best restaurant family and culture we have ever had the chance to see. My husband and I agreed that there is really no reason to go to other high end steak houses- they are all the same boring menu/sides and don’t have picana or the wagyu ribeye… or really any of the other impressive details we experienced here. We immediately told all of our friends that this should be their next steakhouse experience.
Wow! Simply put, the best Argentine cuisine I’ve ever had! The staff was friendly and Brad the House Manager made the experience extraordinary. My wife and I are definitely coming back again for Dinner (or lunch on Fridays and Saturdays). 😊
First time going to Libertango and it was amazing! Everyone there was so nice and friendly. The place looks cozy and they have a great tango playlist in background. The food had the right flavor. We ordered beef empanada and steaks! They gave a bunch of different sauces for the steak. Everything was amazing! We will definitely coming back! Super recommended.
This place was a really nice find in Utah. I love that the decorations felt like a restaurant outside of Utah, and the people really strived to provide excellent customer service. Which is not common in Utah restaurants. The drinks, appetizers, and dessert were world-class. The reason I am giving 3 stars is because the steaks (bife and vacio) missed something. The vacio was a bit chewy. I have been spoiled in many Argentinian restaurants, and I was excited to have the same level of meat in this place. I will totally come back for the experience. I brought my wife to celebrate her birthday, and the overall experience didn’t disappoint. Also the staff was too generous to give my wife free dessert per being her birthday.
This place has such a fun atmosphere. The food is seriously so amazing. If you’re looking for a really nice dinner out, this is definitely the place. Seriously, get the steak. I got the tri-tip cooked blue rare and it is melt in your mouth good.
I took my family gathering of 11 to Libertango for dinner. It’s a brand-new space with very high ceilings and widely-spaced tables. While most of the surfaces in the space are hard, it wasn’t noisy and we had no trouble talking. The space also isn’t austere. The walls are decorated with beautiful paintings of dancers performing the tango. We were greeted at the door by the owner. He continued to provide information about the restaurant and the food throughout our dinner. Our party had two servers who were both excellent. They clearly enjoy their work. But we were there for steak. Even before we arrived, I had checked out the menu and decided to have the 18 ounce wagyu picanha, which is a cut that I only see in Brazilian and, now, Argentinian steakhouses. However, the owner talked me into trying the asado de tira (aka short rib), which is cut across the bone like Portuguese costela de vaca or Korean kalbi. I’ve eaten a lot of grilled short rib and have to say that Libertango’s is the best I’ve ever had. It’s seasoned simply with salt and grilled over screaming hot wood coals to medium rare, and is the epitome of beefy deliciousness. I also got to taste the picanha, because my daughter sat next to me and we shared our food. It, too, was seasoned simply with salt and grilled perfectly to medium rare, and the fat cap was just as crispy and delicious as it looked. We tried several of the appetizers, including the morcilla (aka blood sausage), the provolenta dehumada (aka smoked provolone cheese), the empanada criolla and the burrata, which were all delicious. The desserts were all quite good, as well. The kids enjoyed the alfahores de dulce de leche (aka caramel cookie), the pera al vino (aka wine-poached pear) was beautiful and the dulce de leche porteño (aka caramel with mozzarella cubes) was unusual. I’m pretty sure that the cheese was actually manchego, though. Bottom line: Libertango serves the best steaks that I’ve had in Utah.
From the moment we walked in the door and were met with the aroma of fire grilled steak, to after our meal was finished tonight, all I could really say was “Wow!” Before I talk about anything else I HAVE to mention the crepes. We had the dulce de leche crepe, and let me tell you, it was truly the most amazing crepe I’ve ever had. Better than any crepe I’ve had from restaurants that only serve crepes. It was a little more fluffy like a pancake and it melts in your mouth almost like it’s cotton candy. That combined with the house made syrup and the dulce de leche makes for literally one of the best desserts I’ve ever had. Do NOT sleep on dessert here. Now, as far as the rest of the food goes, everything was incredible, and the service just as good. Within literally 30 seconds of walking in the building, we were sat, received water, and had bread on our table. We ordered the rib eye and New York strip, both of which were the 16 ounce Wagyu cuts. I’ve had a fair amount of steak at this price point, and I’ve never had any this good. Both steaks were medium rare and the best way I can describe them is to liken them into the little gusher fruit snacks. The steaks each had a slight crunchy exterior layer, with an eye watering BURST of flavor on the inside. Our favorite of the two was the New York strip, as it was slightly less fatty. They also provide a selection of 5 different sauces you can use with your steak. We chose the mango chutney and guava bbq sauce. Both were very good, but the steak alone is so incredible the sauces almost seem to take away from the experience. We also got the table smoked cheese as an appetizer (which involves a great table presentation) then the crème corn and guava bacon jelly fries as sides. The corn may not look very appetizing, but don’t let looks deceive you, the moment you take a bite it’s like you have just taken a bite of the worlds freshest and juiciest corn on the cob and the fries were almost more like a dessert than a side, which is not a bad thing by any means. The pricing is is certainly higher than most places in town, but it’s worth every penny. I can’t wait to come back to try all the other appetizers, sides, and desserts that are available
From the moment we pulled in to the moment we left the experience was amazing! The smells the meats the chorizo, the sides the bread and the wagyu picaña was just beyond great, the service was also amazing the host that took us to the table to the waiter and their assistant was all great. We will comeback 100%
I didn't realize I had been eating mediocre steak my entire life until I came to Libertango and had my eyes opened. The smoked provolone is also delightful. Great atmosphere. Great service.
The food was great. We got the El Lomo with the Grilled Vegetables and the Ojo de Bife Steak with the Pure de Papas. The Lomo, veges and potatoes were all amazing. We didn't love the amount of marbling in the Bife, but it was still good. For dessert the Romeo y Julieta is so good and I would highly recommend it. The server was so nice and personable. The atmosphere is nice. The best part was the made in front of you Old Fashioned! I didn't realize that they got so busy, so I would recommend a reservation.
My husband and I went to celebrate our 36th anniversary and we had a truly special dinner. The restaurant, besides being clean, is also very elegant, which made the occasion very cozy. The service was excellent, everyone was very friendly, and the food was spectacularly delicious. We had an American-style grill, vegetables, and cheesy rice...wow! Everything was delicious. Congratulations!
Our visit exceeded expectations. Our dinners of steak and filet were outstanding. I've never been offered a 12 ounce filet. It was incredibly tender and flavorful. The mashed potatoes were impossibly creamy. My companion had another type of steak which was very tasty as well. The grilled vegetables have a bit of a kick (spicy), which my companion enjoyed. A full bar is offered which includes a variety of mocktails. I enjoyed both options. The staff was very attentive and the atmosphere is perfect for date night.
We had stake, pork chops and Salmon. All of it was delicious! I can’t wait to go back. John and Arthur were the best at attending to our needs and wants. I would come back just for them. They deserve an A+.
We've been twice and have loved it both times. Their steaks are to die for tender add the atmosphere is spot on. My Moscow mule was great. This time, two of us shared the $230 barbeque. The 3 steaks were cooked perfectly, chicken was quite dry. The charcoal box kept everything warm while we ate through it all. That broccoli and rice and French fries are devine. I investigate the prices are high and though, we couldn't eat here every month, we love to travel up every few months to indulge. The establishment is spotless with neat touches like light up tables and menus along with the barbeque placed front and center to watch your meal being prepared. Staff was wonderful, attentive and respectful, with only a young girl reaching over people to fill drinks which was not acceptable. We highly recommend this place and wish the owners and staff well!
Jonathan and Henry were fantastic. Everything was absolutely delicious. We ordered the Parrillada Gringa with three different steaks and one chicken, and it was cooked to perfection. We added the cheese rice (do not skip this side!), vegetables, and the arroz con azafrán, every bite was incredible. The service was outstanding. They took the time to explain what everything was and how it was prepared, which made the experience even better. This is officially our new go-to spot. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I'm still trying to decide how I feel about this place. 4 stars overall seems reasonable. They have a separate person for bread and water, however, drinks and water were empty and No one came around to do refills. We ended up sharing waters. The best part is how quiet it was when we first arrived with only a few others tables that were seated. It filled up as we dined-in and it was still at a reasonable noise level. The filet was fantastic. I'm not sure why the New York strip is so expensive when the filet is a better cut. I recommend sharing the porkchops. It comes with 2! Another table ordered something that cooks food at their table and the venting inside the building is not good enough to suck out the smoke. It got very hot and smelly inside, which caused a few headaches. One thing I forgot was you can't customize the dishes. They force you to order everything exactly as the menu says. Because of that, one of us got sick from it.
We tried the New York steak and the pork chop. The steak was not super tender but it had a nice flavor from the wood grill and the gorgonzola sauce was wonderful. We got a side of mixed vegetables that were good but not unique in any way. Prices were high and I wish the meals would have included salads and individual side choices. The service was friendly and the restaurant was beautiful inside.
Jonathan was great. Food had quality but not quantity especially for the price! The menu was interesting with its light built in.
Dear owner, please consider serving steaks on thick, heated plates. I ordered a $70 NY strip which came out perfectly but it was cold about 4 bites in. Cold meat doesn’t taste very nice even when it’s wagyu. Most places solve this by serving on warm plates that keep the entree warm much longer. I could only eat a quarter of my steak. Hopefully it reheats well tomorrow!
The steak was wagyu rib eye. It was aged properly, med-rare temperature was fine. Seasoning was just right. Bread service was fine. I probably won't go back. Price was $71 each without even a salad. My standby steakhouse is about equal for steak quality and price, but incliudes salad, vegs and palate cleanser (sorbet). Both places were excellent, but Hoof & Vine was a better bang for the buck.
Honest review . I wouldn’t come here again because it’s too overpriced for basic food . The glowing menu is the only reason I came and it kinda made it seem like it was all that but turned out to not be all that. Restaurant was very fancy looking tho! Food is very overpriced. I ordered salmon and it only comes with rice . I’m Mexican and that rice taste like the rice I make when I messed up and put too much tomato sauce in it. I also ordered the brócoli rice and that was really good. The bread way half good enough and the other half is not edible . It was too hard but the butter it came with was 10/10. The salmon was big and it actually filled me up but it’s sad how it comes with the nasty tomato rice only . It would be 10/10 if it came with a better side . I feel like this dish has so much potential if it had a better side.
I don't think it's worth $68. My steak was dry. My husband's steak was good, but not impressive considering the price; I wish it were better. The service was okay. The pasta was a bit salty, and my daughter didn't like it much. We loved the mashed potatoes. The pork appetizer was great.
The good: - my ribeye was perfectly cooked - we really like the smoked provolone appetizer The okay - the service was very friendly, but not super attentive and fairly slow - everything we had was pretty good, but nothing special. - the decor and vibe is a little tacky. The menus are basically giant backlit e- readers :)
I was a bit disappointed, this place is quite expensive so my expectations were set high and I was let down. My steak was still mooing even though I ordered it medium rare, my broccoli rice was so over cooked, it seemed as it was microwaved, I was asked how everything was and I said it was good but the rice was overcooked, the owner said I couldn't send it back because they don't do that here as it's family owned, the rice was $6, that made my experience a bit tough because why ask how things are if you're not willing to fix a problem? The potatoes were worth the hype, so so good, I loved how you could eat peacefully without screaming children! the sangria, a virgin cocktail, was amazing. The chimichurri needed more acid and spice. The empanada was really good but tiny. Their pork belly was ok, undercooked for my taste as it's really fatty, and I don't enjoy soft fat in my mouth. Overall, I wish I had chosen a different place to spend my wedding anniversary. When you've traveled around the globe, your palette becomes acostume to different flavors, and this was not authentic Argentinian. I wish them the best. The pear in wine was delish, the alfajores not authentic and you could barely taste the dulce de leche as they decided to bathe them in dark chocolate. Ourbill was $320 for 3 adults and 1 child. The owner doesn't care as they never even came to our table after the rice problem.
I think the price is what kills the experience. If I’m paying $68 for a steak it better be amazing. And then to have to come out and just be good. That kills the vibe. So it wasn’t bad. But it wasn’t like amazing worth the price tag wow’d me good. The sauces they bring with the steak were really interesting. Each sauce was very unique and a fun addition. But to me if it’s a good steak it doesn’t need sauce. I agree with some of the other reviews the decor was a little tacky. And the service was sooo slow. We had two servers and our waters were constantly empty. We waited longer to check out and pay than it took us to eat the steak. Overall it was a very mediocre experience. The steaks weren’t terrible. But the price of them was way too high for what you’re getting.
So, the food was good, service was good. Three stars because a steak with no sides, one beer, shrimp fettuccine and a diet coke came to $180 with tip, a little pricey for albeit good food, but for near $100 per person I expect great food, sides and more than one beer.
the ambiance was fun. The staff was friendly. The bread was amazing. The fries are great We got the pork chops and they were undercooked. We actually got food poisioning.
Wildly, wildly overpriced. Surprisingly, out of a group of 6, we agreed that the fish and chicken (cheapest items) were kinda good, but still overpriced. A few people even ordered more bread to fill up lol. Ultimately, we think they need to buy better quality meat; between all 6 of us, we ordered the fish and chicken, along with several different steaks, and all of the meat tasted very cheap. Also, for me personally, a $21 beer? C'mon...
Girlfriend got the four cheese pasta. Tasted like it came out of a box. Not great. My pork chops were dry. There was a hair on my plate. The servers were great. The atmosphere was great, but the quality of food made it absolutely not worth it.
The steaks were very high quality with lovely marbling and were cooked perfectly. It’s odd they don’t offer any grass fed beef at this place but nevertheless, the steaks were very good. The rest of the meal was not as good. The salmon was overcooked although the tomato rice was excellent. The grilled veggie platter was undercooked except for the peppers and the portion size was small. We ordered 2 apps and they both were odd plays on classic Argentina steakhouse fare. The blood sausage was OK but the casing was completely removed and the loose sausage meat was swimming in fat. It’s not just terrible presentation but it was tough to scrap the plate of liquid fat for the crumbles of sausage. The provolone appetizer was tiny pieces of cheese served on an escargot plate. I wish they stuck to the classic serving style that I would expect in Argentina. Service was friendly but not proactive and not acceptable for the cost of the meal.
I love Argentina, asado, and even tango. Everything in me wants to love Libertango, yet I can’t. I’ve eaten here several times, and this review reflects my most recent visit. The two-star rating isn’t absolute—it’s relative to the restaurant’s potential and value. SOME HISTORY: I work nearby and was thrilled when I first saw construction begin. I’ve long hoped Utah would get a proper parrilla—something like Baires in Miami, Balvanera in New York, what Chicago’s Tango Sur once was, or even one of the great off-Strip spots in Vegas. We may not be those markets, but the Wasatch Front deserves one, with its mix of Latino population, relative affluence, and the thousands of returned missionaries with their troves of bombillas, Boca (or River—or San Lorenzo, for the contrarians) jerseys, Havanas, and worn copies of Martín Fierro. THE FOOD: The food is good but not great. Compared to Ruby River, it’s excellent; compared to the grills at the Festival de Caballo in Bragado, it might as well be Sizzler. As there’s nothing distinctly Argentine in the flavor or quality of the meat, carnivores might find more satisfaction at Ruth’s Chris or Spencer’s. The dishes are overwrought. The “provoleta” feels like an experiment in molecular gastronomy when what diners want is a huge, molten slab of provolone—ideally unpasteurized—straight from the grill or in a provoletera. Instead, we get decorative dollops. The desserts lean too sweet, and it’s hard to make dulce de leche any sweeter than it is. The menu’s Brazilian touches are puzzling. Aside from Las Lilas (which serves picanha), none of Buenos Aires’ top asados mix in Brazilian fare. Does Argentine cuisine lack the breadth and depth to fill a menu at a self-professed Argentine steakhouse? THE DÉCOR: If the food were better, the décor might feel complementary, even memorable. But with the kitchen still working on fundamentals, the setting’s effort to impress lands as kitsch, cheapening the experience it’s meant to elevate. THE SERVICE (Offered Constructively) - from someone who’s worked in restaurants from junior high through grad school, a bit of advice: Don’t sprint-mumble through the menu and confuse even those guests who know los cortes and Castellano marplatense. If you believe—rightly or not—that the kitchen is producing artistry, present your menu as a docent would guide visitors among Bernis and Solars at the Recoleta Museo de Bellas Artes. Dinner service should flow with the fluidity of an elegant Messi dribble, not the jarring stop-start rhythm of a malambo. Read your table. If, thirty minutes after seating, the host has to track you down to place appetizer orders, realize this isn’t a three-hour meal—they don’t want to sit staring at their forks. When the appetizers do arrive, make sure “hot” means hot, not cold. Yes, a few bottles of Malbec can help your tip, but you’ll earn more by keeping service seamless. Don’t spend 20 mins after the appetizers pouring wine before taking entrée orders; in our case, that delay created a 45 min gap between appetizers and entrées and inexplicably kept us from pairing wine with our meats. And if four bussers are jodeando at the bar when entrées finally emerge from the kitchen, enlist them in a wow! synchronized plating moment. Don’t stack thirteen plates by the kitchen door to cool while you insist on carrying them two at a time by yourself—whether from habit, orgullo, or tip-hoarding. Bonus pro tip: Read Unreasonable Hospitality by Will Guidara. Anyone serious about service—and running a restaurant—should. Your guests will note and celebrate the difference. SUM: I’ll continue to eat at Libertango because it’s convenient and good. But not because it’s superb, which it isn’t—though I very much hope that someday it will be.
The service was very good, food presentation also very nice. I ordered the Wagyu NY Steak and It wasn't Wagyu. I paid $71 for 16 oz USDA Prime NY Steak. Please modify the description of your plates in the menus.
My review is for the Valentines Day "special". Went through meticulous preparation when making my reservation speaking directly to the restaurant. Reservation was made for 6pm and made sure they were well aware of my wife's food allergy and some substitutions could be made. We were very excited to try this place and was really looking forward to it. We arrived for our reservation 5 minutes early and probably 5 other parties arrived at approximately the same time. They were clearly overbooked and we waited for around 15-20 minutes before being seated. We reminded our waiter of the allergens, and he had no idea what we were talking about (clearly no notes were taken for our reservation). The chef (she offered the best service there), came out and worked out a couple of substitutions for my wife. This was a 5 course meal. The bread course they had nothing to substitute (which they said on the phone they would). They did substitute the appetizer for her after the chef came out to speak to her. The salad was brought out, and we still had nothing to drink and the wine menu still was not brought to us (ridiculous to be into the 3rd course). The manager came to the table and said he would take care of the wine and 2 glasses were finally brought. We then ordered our entree...2 filets....and they were brought out within 3 minutes. Clearly not cooked to order. We cut into them at the waiter's request, and they were both well done (ordered medium rare). They were taken away and about 15 minutes later, 2 more steaks were brought. They were delicious, I will give them that. The waiter never did check back throughout the meal to see if we wanted more wine or anything. Desert eventually followed which they were able to address this for my wife, however we were pretty much over this whole experience by this time. The bill was brought to us, and not only did they attempt to charge us for this "prepaid dinner", but the wine was not taken care of as we were told it would be from all the problems we had. They had to fix the bill, which the waiter brought back and made sure he let us know that gratuities were not included. This was a very expensive meal (close to $400) and wanted it to be a special valentines day meal. The service and numerous mistakes, not only soured the experience, but certainly made this far from being worth what was paid. The food was good, but it was no where near worth it. There are numerous upscale steak houses such as Ruth Chris or STK that are half the price with much better attentiveness to their customer and detail. I would doubt I would return here, and certainly would recommend other places over Libertango.
Nothing upscale about this dinning experience! The food was flavorless. My steak was not very good. It was just Ok. The waiter asked how we liked our food but was not happy with my response. The saffron rice had no salt very and bland, I had to add olive oil to give it more flavor. The roasted veggies were very plain. The butter for the bread was so cold and not spreadable. The food and service were at best below average. I could have had a much better meal at my hotel "Little America". Just saying.
Dear Mr. Jorge Serodio, Owner and Founder, I would like to express my deep disappointment with the extremely poor service I received during my first anniversary celebration. I am Argentine and have lived in Brazil for many years; I am familiar with steakhouses from both countries. I am passionate about fine dining, and my partner is a chef. I chose your restaurant based on the photos I saw online and the promise of a phenomenal, five-star-quality experience. I have worked aboard the finest cruise ships of the Regent Seven Seas line, and I truly enjoy visiting restaurants that claim to offer a unique and high-quality dining experience. Everything started well — the busser offered us drinks, but we chose to have only water due to medication. At that moment, the waiter’s attitude changed, as if not ordering alcohol made us lesser customers. The busser insisted on removing the bread from our table — twice. The second time, I explained that in Argentina, we traditionally enjoy our meals with bread. His response was, “Well, I’m not Argentine to know that.” When ordering the sides, I requested farofa, to which the waiter — in a rather condescending tone — asked, “Do you know what farofa is?” I replied that yes, I do, as I lived in Brazil, and he asked again if I was sure I wanted to order it. We ordered creamy rice, Buenos Aires salad, and farofa, and for the meats, the ribs and the vacio. When the ribs arrived, that was the first major disappointment — how can an Argentine grill serve “Asian-style ribs”? The cut was as thin as the ones used for Asian hot pots, and it was priced at $50! Rancho Market gets the thickness and the cut you need! The vacio was pre-seared and then reheated — the center was cold. The farofa was overly salty, and the salad came with mustard dressing. When I raised my hand to ask for another dressing, a waitress approached and, when I asked if they had a different option, she replied rather rudely: “You want another? What kind?” and then said to herself, “Something with honey…” I said yes, something different — I just didn’t want mustard on my salad. The waiter later brought me balsamic, which I appreciated, but the salad itself was poorly prepared: it looked nice because of the tomatoes and cheese on top, but underneath it was a bed of wilted greens, not fresh at all, as if left too long in the fridge. The water glasses had stains. Since it was our anniversary, I didn’t want to speak to the manager — though I’m not sure there even was one that night. I ended up spending a total of $169. I honestly didn’t want to leave a tip because of the poor service, though I was never disrespectful, but I did give a tip. Please, I hope you take the time to respond to this review sincerely — from the love you have for your restaurant. Unfortunately, I did not feel welcome in your establishment. It was, sadly, one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in Utah. I truly believe that those who leave positive reviews are people who usually eat only fast food. Honestly, I’ve had better steak at the Intermountain Hospital café in Provo than at your restaurant. And allow me to add one more thing: instead of spending money on illuminated menus and decorative details, you should invest in properly training your management team and staff to provide genuine, five-star customer service. Only then will your restaurant truly live up to the experience it promises. Sincerely, I hope I can get a refund.
Wife had the ribeye ordered medium rare, came out medium well. Had to return for new ribeye. Came out looking like it had been boiled first. They probably picked this from freezer, boiled it first to help thaw out. No flavor. I ordered what was suppose to be the American Wagyu. No way. It was tough, silver skin, tons of fat. The Capellini pasta was butter noodles only, no "fried garlic". Again, no flavor. Ramen noodles have more flavor. The only good vegetable was the aspargas and the pepper drops. Service was par. Never came back to see if I needed a refill on my drink. Not sure why there are so many high reviews on this place.
