The lodge bistro did a fabulous job. We were greeted and seated quickly. The manager answered questions we had about the menu and gave us great recommendations! Started with a Moscow mule and an espresso martini that were both perfect. We shared the calimari mushrooms, mushroom bisque and the hanger steak. Everything was cooked perfect and the bisque is delicious! Can't wait to go back and try their weekly specials. The only thing that could have made our night better is to have had 6 ft of snow lol!
12/22/21 Update. Opening night for the season. Missing the Head Chef and GM, but hasn't lost a thing. Our server Kathleen was working hard and doing a great job. Steak tartare was excellent as was the meatloaf and French onion soup. Sublime tofee dessert. Good selection of wine. Don't come if you're in a hurry. 2020: This is the second time we have dined here. The atmosphere is nothing fancy, but the food, wine and service are fantastic. Last time we had the tartare, beet salad, salmon and duck (two ways). This time we had the tartare, beet salad, scallops, and elk. The tartare is one of the best we've had. The duck was outstanding. Everything else was very good. They have a good wine list and if you ask the BIG GUY, he will make some recommendations, some of which may be off the menu -- a real treat. Always too full for desert. Definitely one of the best places in Little Cottonwood Canyon for a nice meal. Make a reservation! They are clised a couple days midweek.
We got there early, a little after 5 pm and had the whole place to ourselves. Things started getting busy by the time we were finishing up at around 6 pm. The food there was 1st rate. I loved the French onion soup, and the meatloaf. The meatloaf was so fresh and the waitress said they use really high quality meat for it. My husband had the kobe beef and said the meat was great but the flavorful sides were what really amazed him. We shared the chocolate gateau and it was decadent but not too sweet. My husband has Celiac's disease, and the gluten free options were clearly marked and a surprising amount of dishes were already gluten free. On a side note, our car had trouble getting up the mountain and the coolant was leaking which really stressed me out. As we were leaving, we asked the front desk of the lodge if they had any coolant (long shot I know), and they called a public safety person. He was a mechanic and helped us fix the car and get home safely. He was so kind, and I was extremely grateful for the amazing overall experience we had at Snowbird!!
This place is fantastic. Best restaurant at the bird no question. The flavors work perfect. The service was extremely professional and personable. The location is unmatched. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself.
Hidden gem of Snowbird. Best culinary experience not only in Snowbird but in SLC (incl. PC). Food is delicious, main and kids menu. Waiters are very professional. Nice interior, but views (especially after snowstorm) are truly breathtaking! Like in winter wonderland! Go there hungry or not and try to get window table.
Best restaurant in Snowbird..The food is excellent. Food and service were amazing.
Elk was awesome and so was the short rib and the bread pudding in caramel sauce with ice cream. Exceptional!
Everything is so good.
What a find! The watermelon salad “has songs written about it”, the amazing bar tender, Lara told us. If I was a writer or musically inclined, it would be so. This is a talented chef with amazing attention to detail.
I was very impressed with the food. It’s a Little expensive but the food was surprisingly good, as were my gin martinis. I would recommend this restaurant while in the area
Food came quick and was delicious. Good restaurant to go to if you are staying in resorts at Snowbird, Utah.
Food is incredible, views are incredible, service was wonderful. Try the baked Brie... it's not your average!
Great spot in a beautiful area with a tasty menu and friendly staff. I would go again.
Excellent food. Very creative dishes and the flavor is just outstanding.
Cozy and warm with great food and great staff. The burger is superb.
Best restaurant in Snowbird area. A bit pricey. Quiet decent ambience.
Don't miss this place!!! We had so much fun and GREAT Time? Enjoyed the food!
Great food and service. Awesome view of the mountains from the restaurant.
All you can eat mussels on Sundays!
Best place on the resort don't go to 71 that place sucks
Good food, staff was great :)
Awesome food and great service.
Great service and amazing food!
This is my special place always a treat to eat here.
If you’re reading this, you are likely deciding where to dine while visiting Snowbird. All of the outlets are distinct and good at what they are. That said, The Lodge Bistro is perhaps my favorite on account of the ‘slow burn’ après-ski atmosphere. It has the feel of a cozy, mountain locals establishment. Not too loud, too rushed, and a well executed European cuisine I enjoy. Very strong kitchen.
Just had a delicious meal at the Lodge Bistro up here at Snowbird. Could not have had a better experience. We ate outside to enjoy the amazing views. We started with the coconut shrimp which was very tasty. My husband and I both enjoyed the burger. It was tender, juicy and super flavorful. Cooked to perfection. We were both very impressed. Ended the meal with sharing two delicious desserts. We will be back!!
Great place for apres ski! Started with a few pints of Guiness on draft. Robert took excellent care for us at the bar. The appetizers were delightful, my favorite was the crispy cauliflower. Chef Danny made our dinners spectacular. We had the cheeseburger which was big and juicy, and the steak frites. Can't wait to come back!
Amazing food and service are what make restaurants great, and what makes The Lodge Bistro. The mountain scenery viewed through the large picture windows makeup for any lacking decor, as mentioned in other reviews. The dining room at the Bistro is our preferred location for a meal, unless we arrive early enough for the patio or just feel like sitting in the bar/lounge area. Coconut shrimp, French onion soup, or any salad offering is a great way to start. Seasonally changing menus always keep the menu exciting, and who know what they've created for evening specials. Crem Brûlée of the evening or Stick Toffee Pudding is the hard choice, if you saved room for desert. If you aren't sure what to get, just ask; the waitstaff is well trained and it shows! This isn't the Lodge Bistro of yesteryear; Gary hasn't worked behind the bar for years, and the menu doesn't have a $5 cheeseburger on it, and everything has gotten better each year when we return for dinner.
I have eaten at The Lodge Bistro several times both in winter and summer and have found the dinning experience to be of the highest quality. RJ the chef offers a summer and winner menu that is diverse and the best in the canyon. The elk steak is memorable.
Our meal was very tasty, & pretty as well. Server was very friendly, did have a special request, which the chef accommodate one of our guest. We never had a bad meal at this place.
A genious chef in a secluded restaurant. Magnificent dishes both savory and sweet. Great wine list. The cuisine is definitely Michelin worthy!
Everyone's meal was amazingly delicious. The portions were very large. The service was fast, friendly, and attentive. The atmosphere was warm and inviting.
The food surpassed my expectations and definitely stood out compared to everything else I ate during my 4 day Snowbird/Alta ski trip. The only knocks on the recently revamped lodge bistro (from French to American) was the 25-minute wait to get the check on my first visit, and the 50-minute wait for food on my second visit the following day. After eating here twice, I’m willing to chalk up the wait times to growing pains of a newly revamped restaurant—and I’m excited to go back, because the food really is that good.
The beef stew is good but the menu here on Google maps is outdated since they change it every year. I was really excited for steak but then kinda didn’t know what to order when I came since the menu has changed so I ordered the stool and it was OK. I finished it. It’s probably seven out of 10. The service is good as well and pretty attentive.
The service was excellent. Foods were great, the Hamachi Crudo and Coconut shrimp were imagine. The duck legs is very tender and tasty. The buttermilk Panna Cotta is very refresh as a dessert
Food is good - service was sssllooooowwwwwww.
I always default to either the Bistro Burger, or the Glorified Grilled Cheese, though everything I've had off the menu has been delicious. TheThe Glorif Grilled Cheese is made with three different cheeses, pesto, and sourdough bread. Best grilled cheese ever.
Expensive breakfast Buffett didn't live up to the price.
The food was decent but our waiter was terrible. Wouldn't allow any substitutions and wouldn't allow a to go order. Said he couldn't do it because it was too busy. There was a table of 17 (which he referenced a few times) but he was not their waiter. 🤷🏼♀️. No personality and when he brought us the bill, he just threw it on the table and kept walking. No thank you or anything. He seemed to be irritated being there. Water was not refilled. Would not go back. Would just stick with the Steak Pit and restaurants at the Cliff.
The bistro is an ok place to eat in the Snowbird lodge. The menu is small and the food is good, but many dishes including the tomato soup are spicy. The beef dishes(2) were both good but small and the mushroom risotto was very good. Chicken was also very good. Portions for every dish were small and prices are outrageous across the board. Some of us left hungry, even after having dessert. Unfortunately, in the Snowbird valley, there is not much choice for dinner.
Onion soup - good regular Muscles - amazing, we dipped a lot of bread in its sauce Sourdough Bread delicious, toasted with butter Pork chop - so so, very flavorless, sides of it really sucked, no flavor just cooked vegetables, also not very fulfilling Burger is, regular Fried gnocchi - so so, its sides are terrible, flavorless, our friend didn’t eat most of his plate Chocolate pastry was good, very small, not to share Crème brule - also very small and wasn’t great Our waiter Daniel was great.
I feel exactly as the last comment that's made four years ago. If you have a choice, better go for Aeriel in cliff lodge.
I had high expectations for the Bistro, ordered the steak filet. No vegetables were served with it, the Brie which would have been a nice flavor for the mashed potatoes was mostly rind, and although I ordered medium rare, it was cooked medium well. I would expect for a $60 meal better quality.
Wasnt impressed at all, dishes were strange to nondescript, menu needs a lot of love. flavors were off, ambiance was lacking. No attention to detail, Salt and pepper was cheapest available, old and flavorless. wine was sickly sweet. the salmon was overcooked and the dill on the salmon was burnt black. i dont know if on purpose but Burnt dill is not a taste to base a dish on jeez. All this meh and The prices were that of a very good hip restaurant in NYC. If they were 30% less I would prob have given 3 stars
Although the menu sounds amazing the food was just not good. There’s not one plate we finished.
Bummer dinner. Two members of the party wanted to order oysters. They only had one order left for the night. I totally understand that. One person shifted their order to another item. After about 30 minutes, our waiter Daniel came out and said chef didn’t like how the last order of oysters looked and to please pick “anything else on the menu”. We chose the crab. The crab came out and was not good at all. Tasted like it had gone bad. I had the burger, it was just a frozen patty with wilted arugula on it. The chicken dish was good. The tomato soup was okay. When the bill came, Daniel asked how everything was and was told things were okay but the crab was bad. He delivered the bill with everything at full price. No acknowledgment that we were disappointed. Overall, plan on going somewhere else. Decent ambiance, bad food, bad service.
Food and Drinks were way overpriced. We had an 8:30pm reservation and we were the only ones in the restaurant. Both of our dishes came with French fries as the side, which could be normal, but looking at the menu, pictures and prices, we had higher expectations. I would’ve been perfectly fine with the amount I paid if the food had been better. I was surprised to see the pictures of the food from other reviews, and comparing them to what we received. I definitely won’t be going back to The Lodge Bistro on our next visit.
Ordered elk tenderloin that arrived reheated in a microwave, which was evident since half of it was cooked well done (this was the side facing the outer edge of the plate). Additionally, it took a simple appetizer that was ordered from the onset 1.5 hours to arrive. No communication, only that it was coming soon. Honestly should have canceled this final item and just paid / left. Incredibly disappointed. Huge fail on the restaurant's part here.
60 dollars for a steak with green beans. Nothing says French like green beans on a 60 dollar plate. Service was great, Dan was awesome.
The description says its an upscale eatery but that wasn't our experience. We were served an "amuse bouche" of a cracker with a smear of tomato paste and something white. Then the "chicken" burger was very a very circular object; a compressed mass of something that tasted like it was mechanically recovered. None of us managed more than a couple of mouthfuls. It also had something spread on it that wasn't very nice and tasted bitter and charred. When I asked why the chicken burger was so round, the waitress said they ground up the chicken themselves and formed it into discs. It begs the question, why go to the trouble of doing that when you could just cook an actual chicken breast and serve it in a bun? My experience would suggest it would be the perfect pace to go if everything else was closed, you were really hungry and you didn't order the chicken burger.
