Salmon is always fresh. This is one of my favorite Japanese restaurants!
Cheaper than kura sushi and tasty too! It actually feels more japanese than kura since they give you little wet towels and the food is cheaper.
Always been my favorite spot to eat rotating sushi in the area and the price is grazy cheap for the quality
A crowded hole in wall sushi spot that is worth the wait. I always order and don't get anything pre-made off the revolving sushi bar. Its consistently fresh and you can't beat the prices. One of the girls who works there can come off as rude but I think it's just a culture difference. Also don't expect to be seated where you want. Everyone gets squeezed in with no empty seats between parties.
Hands down the best conveyor belt sushi I've had outside of Japan - it even has Tokyo vibes. Our family loved it. They don't take reservations so know you'll likely have to wait a bit, but it's so worth it. And they do takeout if you don't want to wait!
This is my favorite place to sushi. I love the concept of the place, it's like a small and cozy sushi bar in the center of Tokyo, the food is delicious, feels fresh and the prices are quite reasonable. The place is quite popular and always busy, so be prepared to wait at least 30 minutes to be seated at a table.
Crowded on Fridays and Weekends, but food is so fresh and delicious, you will forget about the wait. Not expensive at all. The belt basically serves as your water - you place your order on the paper and put there in a cup, when food is ready the belt will get it to your table. If you come at 1:30 or later for lunch, there usually no wait.
It is one of the best places in the area for sushi. Price is very good for what you get, and service is very fast. It is easily a must try location if you're a sushi lover and is my go-to spot.
Best freshest sushi! Always worth the drive! This place never fails.
Always a great place to get sushi! Revolving bar is pretty fast and the service is very quick. I have been here for years and never have had a bad time. Prices are very affordable. Typically spending $50-$80 for two with beer and drinks.
fun vibe, food is all really tasty , prices also very reasonable This place us usually crowded but its worth it
I've been going here for about 14 years. Never disappoints, as long as you're patient as it does get busy. It should get busy since it's one of the best sushi places around.
Our go to sushi place! The moving conveyor belt sushi table gives a nice sushi place theme to the place. Their sushi taste superb. I always get the kobe beef tataki, medium fatty tuna and eel. They also have specials every day of the week! So if you want great sushi and great food come here!
Little hole in the wall that I would match against the more well known Sushi houses in Little Tokyo. Excellent quality and reasonable prices. The counting of the sushi plates is in it of it self a fun exercise - to see if your total matches that of the servers. Best part is the conveyor belt that is laden with sushi delights that weaves through the tables. Not very many sushi houses have this feature. For 4 adults, we spent $56 including gratuity. We were stuffed!
With affordable prices $2.25-4.25 per place (2pcs), this place is one of the better kaiten sushi in OC, especially for their quality. We had the salmon, yellowtail, aji (spanish mackerel), unagi (eel), saba (mackerel), scallop (hotate), an order of shrimp and veggie tempura, beers for $3.5, large sake $6.. happy hour 4-7 buy 2 get 1 free for the sake/beer. The repeaters for the night were the yellowtail (hamachi), very smooth and fatty, the Saba was also great. Salmon was the standard, fatty and oily. Scallop was good but missed the lemon juice on top of it. (Maybe I can request this next time?) We also tried the seared Mayo salmon, wished it was warmer. It was cold by the time it got to us. It was busy and packed, so understandable. We got there at 6pm on a Friday and we waited 30mins. Definitely will return.
This place made my day, after the hot trudge through Santa Ana. The conveyor carrying the nagiri and sashimi traveling the length of the bar was a novel selling point. The serve staff were a model of front of house operations. Busy behind the counter, the sushi chefs helped us learn some of the more singular dishes that I hadn't seen before. Sushi's always been one of my favorites- but I'll always remember and want to return to this place. The beer was unique and smooth to my German taste buds.
This place is incredible!!! The sushi is the freshest we've had in quite some time! The pieces are generous, well prepared and delivered in a timely manner. Now to address the service... If you're looking for a sit-down place that is going to serve you - water, menus, bring food to you, etc., this isn't your place. This is revolving sushi - the focus is on the basics and the kitchen. We had water when we needed it, had questions answered, and was seated and received our check in a timely manner. You do need to flag someone down if you need something. It's not rude. It's efficient. If this is your first time here ask questions first, make sure you understand the system, and then have fun ordering and selecting some of the best sushi you'll probably ever have for the most reasonable prices.
Went for the first time on Sunday night and waited about 30 minutes for a table. Inside is cozy and not too big so the wait definitely makes sense. They only have a couple of items on the belt circulating so be sure to just order right when you sit down. We were seated and asked for our drink order, but wasn’t given an explanation of what to do. Following what the people around us did, just keep any plates you take off of the belt + to order, fill out a paper and stick it in the glass cup when it comes around, then your order will come on one of the numbers that correspond with your table/seat. Food was really good and good quality! Around $22 per person for us after tax & tip and we got around 10 plates (including 2, 8 piece rolls) for the 2 of us. Can’t wait to go again but hope they seat us next to one of the menus next time!!
Yes, this place is good 👍. I was invited here by 3 friends (tres amigos 🤠 if you will) and we had a good time. I suggest seating your most responsible friend next to the conveyor belt thingy or else your friends will too busy laughing to notice the food 🤣. Everything was very delicious 😋 and I love wasabi 🔥
Kaisen Kaiten is hands down one of the best sushi spots I’ve been to. The conveyor belt setup makes it so easy to try a little bit of everything, and every plate I grabbed was fresh and delicious. The whole experience is fun, relaxed, and perfect for sushi lovers or anyone looking for something a little different. We’ll definitely be back soon!
absolutely love this sushi spot! Service was quick and our server explained to us how to order since it was our first visit. Each sushi piece was fresh, buttery and HUGE. The portion sizes were a lot bigger than we expected and our visit exceeded expectations. I’d love to visit again whenever I’m in the area and would highly recommend to anyone!
This is usually my go-to sushi spot since the fish to rice portion is amazing, but during the most recent time I ate here, I found a piece of aluminum foil in the eel sushi and at the end of my meal, I notified the server who didn’t do anything about it except stare and be like “oh okay”. Just expected better service when it comes to finding ALUMINUM FOIL in my food. We only saw it because the eel accidentally fell off the rice and the foil was sandwiched in between so we could’ve consumed it without knowing…. Also felt like the three guys working there on a Saturday afternoon were just standing and gossiping together the whole time but that’s just my observation from the quick lunch I had dining in here.
Our family is a regular here. Food is delicous with reasonable price. The atmosphere is nice. However it looks like the service is going downhill. The two waitresses who served us today did not bother to give us a smile, no intereaction with customer like they really care about how customers experience. The restaurant does not need to be fancy but should be welcomed with all customers.
This place is always good. Food comes out fast. There’s also really good choices on the belt to choose from. Would highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a quick bite to eat with fresh sushi.
Kaiten Sushi Bar offers a fun, casual dining experience with its conveyor belt service. The sushi is fresh and flavorful, and the sake specials are a great bonus. It's a solid choice for a quick and tasty meal, especially if you enjoy watching your food go by!
Very unassuming place for great sushi. The place is small so expect a little of a wait, they only have a few booths and the rest is bar top so not ideal for big families. The food was better than expected. Nigiri was sliced thick and so fresh. I didn’t get to the other items on the menu since i just stuck to nigiri, hand rolls, and sashimi. From what other people were ordering, those were the most popular. Honestly can’t beat the quality and the pricing compared to other conveyor belt sushi spots out there. They have 6 different plate prices ranging from $1.75-$4.50. There are also additional items on the sheet that can be priced up to $9. The process of ordering wasn’t explained when we were sat down, we kind of observed what other people were doing and caught on pretty quick. I assume it’s more of a local spot so they figured everyone who comes by knows what’s up. Regardless, I can say that i will definitely be stopping by again whenever i’m in the area.
It's hard to beat the price of their daily specials. $1.75 for a spicy scallop hand roll or negi toro hand roll, etc depending on the day. Very affordable depending on what you get. Food is just okay though, nothing too amazing. The more expensive items were decent as well. Favorite was probably the uni and snow crab. $3.50 for two pieces of decent uni - how can you beat that? Least favorite was the Cajun salmon, baked mayo salmon and baked mussel. Those were just bad lol. Waitresses were nice and attentive, but the host seemed a little flustered at handling more than two customers at a time.
Small revolving belt sushi The server mainly help u place order for drink or combo, You can write down on ur paper and put it in the tray on the belt and wait til ur number come back to pick up The sushi is good but not super good The price is good but also expensive if u order too much some plate is pricey Uni is alright, oyster is good Overall its way better than kula or other kaiten sushi can come if u want to experience Otherwise there are def better sushi place imo
This is a great revolving sushi place that stands out from the usual chain options like Kura. The sushi is fresh, especially the salmon, and the hand rolls are consistently tasty. Ordering directly from the paper form is quick—props to the sushi chefs for being so fast with made-to-order items. That said, there can be a bit of a wait, especially around dinner time. Little pro tip: come during lunch hours for a quicker seat. The service is decent, but it can be tough to flag someone down if you need help or are ready for the check. Only downside this visit was the mackerel—it didn’t taste as fresh as everything else. Still, overall, a solid spot if you’re craving sushi that’s quick, casual, and not from a franchise. Would definitely come back!
Here you sit at a counter and there is a rotating belt that brings the dishes revolving in front of you. You can grab anything you want to eat off the rotating belt. You can also order specific sushi and sashimi dishes, and they will send them down the rotating line to you too. Fish is fresh and they have many of the other traditional dishes too like teriyaki beef or chicken, and gyoza, etc.. yup, this is a paradise for the single diners. If you are alone just drop in and find a seat at the counter. The kids love the place. They get to watch the dishes go by and grab what they want. Highly recommend this place for it uniqueness and good quality fish. Be aware, this place is popular and there is usually a line so best to get there when they open. This place was in OC register as the best place to eat if you are alone. I went in today when they first opened and beat a large crowd. There were many couples and loners at the counter. Depending on what you order, you can get a good meal for under 25. It’s nice that you can order the expensive fillets or the simper cuts like salmon and tuna. And also they do serve beer and sake too.
Taste :4.4/5 Environment: 4.1/5 Service:4.1/5 If you love sushi and variety, you need to check out Kaiten Sushi Bar in Santa Ana. This place offers a fun and delicious experience of conveyor belt sushi, where you can choose from a wide range of dishes that pass by your seat. You can also order from a paper menu if you want something extra fresh or special. The prices are very reasonable, especially if you take advantage of the daily specials written on the wall. One of my favorite dishes here is the cajun salmon. It's a spicy and flavorful twist on the classic salmon nigiri, with a generous slice of fish on top of rice. The Cajun seasoning adds a nice kick and complements the richness of the salmon.
This is a hidden gem! - Food: I came here for fish! The sushi was fresh, not too much rice. The salmon was so tender and juicy, melted in mouth! Oysters, hamachi, Mackerel were fresh and spicy Tuna maki roll was good. The basic Udon noodle was undercooked so it was a bit chewy and the soup was not hot enough. The Japanese beer was fresh and cold. - Ambience: A small hole-in-the-wall revolving sushi bar with about 10 booth and tables and 20-25 bar seats. Busy and lively. It is good for a casual date, dining family or friends. - Service: The server was attentive and kind. Kept checking on us. - Hygiene: The plates, cups and the bar table were clean. Chopsticks were disposable. - Price: Cheap!!! Sushi starting at $2.75/pc! In LA? What can you ask for more! Too bad no Uni on that day. - Restroom: It was usable but on the way to the bathroom the floor, wall, tiles were filthy and dirty. - Location: It is located across from TJ Maxx, Bed Bath & beyond, Ross, and World Market so it is good to eat before/after shopping! - Parking: It is in the shopping plaza so there is aplenty of parking. - ETC * There is always a wait. A couple of tables and some chairs outside for waiting. There is no text or call back service when it is your turn to be seated. You can order some beer while waiting! (I waited about 20 minutes around 3:30p while they said 30-40 minutes) [Will I be back?] Took 1 star off as the gross hallway to the bathroom. But you can't beat the price in LA and the ingredients are fresh so I will be definitely back!
The salmon is AMAZING. The whole vibe of the restaurant is pretty cool and I love that it is a sushi boat style place. With that in mind, the service is a bit slow, and it gets very busy so plan on being there for a while due to both of those factors. Overall, the sushi is delicious and very fresh! I highly recommend this place (especially since the prices are good too). Also their playlist was fantastic :)
Its what you would expect from a conveyor belt sushi spot. Good prices and happy hour.
Their price for their selection is pretty good. They're pretty similar to Kura. Maybe even cheaper. I would say avoid the oysters though. It didn't taste fresh to me. I ordered 2 and only ate one. There's an overwhelming fishy taste and smell that lingers after you swallow. I would come back though.
The hostesses/servers were terrible. We were one of the first guests to get there. They were so rude upon arrival and have a bad attitude. They asked if we wanted something to drink and never came back after that. We wanted to order items off the menu that wasn’t on the paper that we couldn’t mark off. We would’ve ordered more if they came to check on us. However the food that we did get was pretty good and shouldn’t be reflected bad on the kitchen staff.
I've been here plenty of times and usually the food and service is great. Today was an exception, however, and it wasn't even that crowded... I had to wait 45 minutes for my order to come out, asked the waitress and turns out they forgot completely. THEN had to wait 25 more minutes to get a baked scallop rolls that crumbled apart and leaked out this nasty juice underneath. I was able to pour THIS much out from under it. I don't think it's fair to take away all merits from just one bad experience but this was pretty bad.
Food was by far the best part of the experience, half our order never showed up so we had to order it a second time in order to eat.
Sushi was fine, nothing special nothing bad. Service was a little slow in that you had to flag someone down if you wanted water or an appetizer. Sushi came out mismatched at times too. Not the end of the world but have had better overall sushi experiences.
This place used to be a hidden gem for good sushi for cheap. Now it's typically a busy joint that gives me a mixture of good and so so sushi. On a good day it's good solid sushi for the price. On a bad day, the sushi could have a overwhelmingly fishy after taste. I still go here once in awhile though. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and/or Saturdays for their special daily hand rolls.
Place looks nice. The food on the conveyor is primarily salmon. I ordered for bluefin tuna and did not receive it (in all fairness it could also have been stolen on the conveyor belt). I ordered the tuna again with a note that I did not get the original order with a sad face. One of the chefs (left in my photo)came over to me pissed, slammed the order sheet on the order tack and slammed the sushi on my table. Probably won’t come again, Kura is better.
The food is good but expensive for the portion sizes. One try recommended.
The sushi rice didn’t look fresh. The assembly of the contents weren’t good. When I picked up the sushi with chopsticks, it was falling apart. First, I thought there was a problem with my technique. However, I noticed others around me were dealing with the same issue. People were sitting so close to each other. Also, It took forever to deliver the food items. I haven’t checked their bathroom. Hopefully, it’s clean. Overall, I give 4 out of 10.
Service is terrible. But it's conveyor belt so you're not to expect less than mediocre service. However the check expects a tip as if. Fish isn't top quality it is good enough. Rolls and other stuff are filled with fillers and imitation crab. The atmosphere is busy and mostly bar seating so it's great for casual meals. Where the win here is pricing. For a full meal for two you can be done under $100 for sushi. The salmon is definitely farmed added color. Tuna and other ocean faring species are your best bet. Good luck.
I always going there to have a great sushi. Food has always been good and customer service has always been not welcoming as well( awful ) . I waited almost 45 minutes to get a table as you can see there wasn’t busy of what I saw they only have couple tables but don’t know why with 4 employees they looked extremely busy. No one’s care about getting customers in to be seated they just avoiding us that was terrible customer service no one clean up the table either. And employees tried to avoid us. And one of customer started complain about it. I’m giving 2 stars because of the food and chef
Not a lot of options on the conveyor belt, mostly salmon sushi, everything was the same thing. Service was not good, the ladies barely do anything, they dont explain anything to you or ask if this is your first time.
We were surprised that there was not a line on a Saturday (There was always a line before it even opened on weekends). Once going in, the waiters are new. The food felt different. The taste was not nearly as good as before. Salmon skin rolls didn't taste good; the meat was charred. The food experience was disappointing. They even messed up orders. I learned from the waiter that there was a new owner. If you have been there before, lower your expectation or don't go. You will be disappointed!!!
We waited almost 2 hours. This restaurant is quite small. The employees didn’t even explain how to order. The food was tasty, fresh, soft but the service was really bad. (What we ordered: salmon sushi, onion salmon, seared mayo salmon, squid, Eel, scallop, snow crab, sweet shrimp, Mackerel, spicy salmon hand roll, shrimp tempura hand roll, etc.)
I visit this place often. This time, I ordered a rainbow roll, which had a spoiled smell and too dry tuna. The server took only the plate without saying sorry and asked if I only needed to subtract the food price. After eating that food, I went to the hospital for two days. It was such a terrible experience for me, and I don't want to go again.
This is not the same restaurant I used to enjoy. Sushi rice broke a part when I grabbed with the chopsticks. Man made crab was sold as crab sushi. I also don't see the variety of foods anymore. I'm not even sure if it's still the same owner running the business. I decided to leave the restaurant after a few plates. As a grown Asian man, I know how the Sushi / Sashimi should serve and trust me. This is not the way.
Terrible experience. My friend, a paying customer, was burned by hot tea during our visit. She simply asked to change seats, but the manager refused and dismissed it as “two separate issues.” There was no sincere apology, no proper service, just a cold question: “Do you need a bandage or more hot tea?” Absolutely unacceptable. Ridiculous service—avoid this place at all costs.
I came here once before and it was delicious so I invited a friend of mine to join me here for lunch today. There were a lot of empty tables with no guests but only leftovers from those previous meals. And there were three or four server just “hanging out”, chatting casually. We had to wait for over 25+ minutes to get a spot. The food was still great tho but they really do need to work on their table turnover speed.
This is the second time I have been here, but it will be the last time. The asian girl without glasses who are a waitress today on Mar 08, 2025, at lunchtime, gave me a very bad experience with the service. She used the bossy tone to correct me about plates and made me feel confused and embarrassed. Because I never order specific items on the chain, I didn't know that I had to take all the dishes following my number table instead of the only dish containing food. That is not an appropriate attitude to serving customers. Additionally, trying to embarrass customers will negatively affect business.
Called ahead before I drove down from the South Bay. They wouldn’t take my name down and said they the wait is very minimal. I drove 35 minutes from Torrance for them to tell me that the waitlist is closed at 8:30pm. FFS. Only to get denied by the host.
Ate here on Sunday and got E. Coli poisoning. Still suffering from painful intestinal cramps, diarrhea, and bloody stool 2 days later. AVOID THIS PLACE FOR YOUR OWN HEALTH. Edit: 5 days later, and I'm still recovering from this horrendous food poisoning. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED.
There was a bug on my seat and HAIR ON MY FOOD never want to go there
The sushi made me sick. Definitely tasted like they don’t persevere the fish properly. Absolutely horrible and would not recommend.
What an interesting restaurant... You take a number and watch open seating for anywhere from 10 to 15 minutes while you wait. I have actually seen 10 open seats at one time and no parties being seated. I think they are actually attempting to deter people from eating at the restaurant. Very strange. Possibly, they have a dishwashing or table cleanup issue. Altogether, it is poor management and a great loss of revenue for this cute, quaint little sushi place. Sadly, the owner must be very hands off. I would recommend a new busboy or additional oversight for the existing employees... Maybe even invest in a new busboy. Why leave money on the table and have disappointed customers? Lost a customer here. Not worth the wait!
I recently tried to place an online order to get two portions of the Candy Roll, but unfortunately, this item wasn’t listed on the menu, so I had to call the restaurant directly. When I called, a woman who answered the phone didn’t speak English very clearly. I repeated three times that I wanted two orders of the Candy Roll. She tried to confirm the order, but her response was very unclear, so I repeated again that I needed two Candy Rolls. When I picked up my order and got home, I discovered that I received completely different rolls. I called the restaurant to clarify the mistake, but the same woman insisted — incorrectly — that this is what I ordered. That was absolutely not true. Despite her attitude, I decided to return to the restaurant in person and asked for the correct order. She refused to help or acknowledge the mistake. When I requested to speak with a manager, the staff told me there was no manager available and refused to escalate the issue. This was a very disappointing experience. The service I received was unprofessional, and it really reflects poorly on the business. I hope management takes customer concerns more seriously in the future.
I arrived at this sushi restaurant with high hopes, only to be met with an unfortunate lack of professionalism. We arrived at 9:30 pm, well within the posted hours, which clearly state they close at 10:30 pm. However, we were told, ‘Sorry, we’re closed.’ There was no acknowledgment of the posted hours or any attempt to offer assistance or accommodate us, despite still having an hour before their stated closing time. I understand that businesses can get busy, but clear communication and honoring posted hours are fundamental to maintaining trust. I hope this establishment reconsiders its approach to customer service, because it’s not just about serving food—it’s about respect for those who choose to dine with you.
This is my first time visiting, as we walked in asked a table for 5 then waited outside. And then one of the server called us in. When we set down we still had one more friend coming. After about 5 minutes As she arrived, an Asian waitress came to us with a really bad attitude saying we can not dine in here because when we set down our party was not full. First of all we did not know about the policy, and she could just asked nicely, we won't have a problem with it cuz it's the policy of the store. But since there were still plenty of seats available I really do not understand why can't just walk to us and let us know and watch out for next time. I don't know what's wrong with her must be a rough day. I hope to not get kick out next time. She's Asian and darker skin, I also work in the food industry, this is not the place to show that kind of attitude. Not to be mean but This job is probably not for her.
The food is always really good and priced really well, but the service is consistently abysmal. Today, we had to ask three separate times just to get our check. Go for the food, not the service.
DO NOT RECOMMEND. I saw Instagram reel of this place and decided to give it a try. Sushi is not fresh and comes with a weird hot pink color. Service was terrible, they gave me the wrong order, and I told the waiter; he didn’t even bother apologizing and taking the dish away. My food never came out after 30 minutes of wait. I asked for small plates and waitress said it to me, use the plate from the sushi.
We waited more than 1 hour after we ordered the food. And just one plate comes out. Very disappointed. Feel not welcomed. Almost no food on the chain belt. Copied from an old review, which is 100% true: The employees didn’t even explain how to order. The food was tasty, fresh, soft but the service was really bad.
Well…let’s see…constantly empty conveyor belt (see the attached pic), so you spend the whole meal starving; they refused to let us sit at the bar even though all of the bar seats were empty. You can order appetizers from the waitress, but you have to put a sushi order on a piece of paper and let it ride around the conveyor belt to the kitchen. If it ever gets made, it comes to you on that same communal conveyor belt and gets snagged by the other starving patrons before you ever see it. Don’t come here if you’re hungry.
I placed order online at 11:40. Scheduled for pickup up at 1:15-1:30pm, since it is raining heavily I arrived at 2:30 they didn’t prepare my meal, and they are going to cook right away. I told them to cancel the order but they did call me just now at 2:50 it is really awful and waste my time I drive a long way to pick up.
The food was delicious and fresh but the service was horrible 🤣They never introduce how to place an order or ask if you need anything. You always have to go and find them yourself before they will take your order. Most of the time, they are standing at the counter using their own phones and completely ignoring the customers. Even if you raise your hand, no one pays attention—you have to approach the staff on your own.
I’m not someone who enjoys writing negative reviews, especially for a restaurant I’ve been coming to for over 7 years. Unfortunately, yesterday was my last visit. Over time, the cleanliness has steadily declined. The tables, plates, baby high chairs, and restrooms were consistently dirty, but I kept coming back because the food was above average and the prices were reasonable. This visit was different. When we sat down, 3 plates already had wasabi residue on them. The restaurant itself felt unclean, and the kitchen appeared especially unsanitary. Even worse, the food—which used to be the reason I overlooked these issues—was disappointing. The udon broth tasted like nothing more than hot water. It’s really unfortunate, because I wanted to continue supporting this place. Cleanliness is non-negotiable, and this experience made it impossible to return.
Had a horrible experience today. First, the service was terrible — the waiter didn’t even smile and brought everything like we were eating there for free. But the biggest surprise? A roach on the wall, right next to our table and food. And when we told the waiter, all we got was a $6 discount — not even an apology at first. I would never eat there again.
We came on a weekend due to social media posts and reviews we had seen. I have to say that those who gave anything more than 1 star have no sense of taste or their taste buds have died or their tongues have shriveled up and feel out of their mouths. To say we were utterly diappointed would be an understatement. The service, which seems to be the least rated for this place, was absent at best. The staff(there were 4-5) just stood against the wall and chit-chated with other or zoned out on their phones. We were seated promptly- we were there just after the doors opened. The staff did not explain anything to us-we have been at rotating sushi bars before, but what about those that have not? The waiter disappearred after seating us. We flagged down another waiter (10 minutes after we started eating)to request water and the customary wasabi and ginger dish. Only one dish was given to us to "share". The ginger had an "old" flavor to it. The wasabi was hidden under the ginger. Don't expect any "service" from the staff. We sat down and started to view the plates coming on the conveyor belt. There was not much variety. Most of the dishes had either salmon, tuna, or scallops...that's it. There was also seaweed salad, edamame and some sorry looking cheesecake on the conveyer belt. A paper order menu was available to order other items like hand rolls, bento boxes, udon, appetizers, and other assortment of sushi. We did order a few other dishes off the paper menu to get a wider sampling of fish. The sushi was not any better. The quality and taste was not good. The way the fish was sliced looked odd and uneven. The unagi was very interesting(see pic). It was pale in appearance, not the usual grilled look that is often seen when you order unagi. Again, we questioned the freshness and quality. If you lived in the sahara desert and this was the only sushi place for miles and miles, then I can maybe possibly see giving this a 2 or more star rating. We live in an area of California that overflows with an abundance of eating choices and a wide variety of amazing cultural foods, regardless of how fancy or simple these eating establishments are, and I am always baffled about how places like this are in business. I am venturing that the "affordable" prices must be the reason this place is able to keep their doors open. NOTE: The bento boxes looked decent but we can't vouch for the flavor since none of us ordered bento boxes. As to the products on the conveyor belt....not good. The tuna tasted old/leftover. It had a tinny taste, kind of like canned tuna. The salmon was flavorless. The baked mussels were interesting. It had a sweet sauce on it that masked the taste of the mussel...hmmm, I wonder why. I have eaten much better sushi from food trucks and grocery stores. For those on a very tight budget and just want something to fill your sushi craving, this place is for you. For those that enjoy good sushi...skip this place. There are much better places where sushi can be had. Cheers!
