Opinions de Para Llevar Santa Barbara
My new favorite place in SB! Amazing authentic beautifully prepared Mexican food. These are some of the best tacos I’ve ever had. The atmosphere is gorgeous yet not pretentious. They say you can judge a restaurant by its bathroom and their bathroom is immaculate! I saw some of the breakfast plates and they looked delish too. I heart Corazon Comedor :)
I really enjoyed this place! You can instantly tell they use fresh ingredients because every dish looked so colorful and thoughtfully put together. Everything tasted amazing, and you can feel the care that goes into their food. It ended up being one of my favorite spots I tried in Santa Barbara. Definitely worth a visit!
The atmosphere and music was perfect. We ordered Breakfast taco, made with homemade blue corn tortillas, scrambled eggs, and my favorite nopales plus the machaca which was delicious. Sorry didnt take a picture but i did of the Flan. Highly recommend this place.
I was craving Mexican food so badly 🌮🔥 and I’m SO happy this place did not disappoint! 😍👏 I got a mixed plate so I could try a little bit of everything—and it was all so good 🤤💯. The mole had just a tiny kick 🌶️, the beans were perfect 🫘, and the avocado was exactly how I like it—not too many onions, just right and nice and limey 🥑🍋. The meat was super tender, and the flavors and sauces brought everything together beautifully 🍖🌮💥. Absolutely hit the spot. Can’t wait to come back! 🙌🇲🇽
I went to have dinner here to celebrate a graduation. We had a reservation for later but they took us early. The atmosphere is very relaxing and inviting. We started with some guacamole and their complimentary chips that were accompanied by a flight of assorted delicious salsas. Our entrees were all very delicious and were served promptly. The staff really topped off the evening by being friendly and helpful. The next time I am in Santa Barbara I will be returning to dine here again.
Would highly recommend this place if you’re craving authentic Mexican food. Finding a place that can make good chilaquiles is always hard to find, but this place knows what they’re doing! Flavors are spot on. The music is great. The salsa is actually spicy. Very friendly service, asking if we had an allergies that needed to be known before serving. Will come again!
This wonderful spot is my favorite Mexican restaurant in S.B. Everything here tastes delicious, is perfectly seasoned and has clean and fresh flavors. The service and ambiance are great as well. If you’re dining in, your meal will start with complementary chips covered in beans, mole and some crumbled cheese, accompanied by 4 different salsas to use on them and your meal. The ceviche and flautas are excellent starters, and you really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu.
Really friendly and helpful staff and wonderfully fresh and flavorful foods. Obviously we had to get the mole, and it did not disappoint. Even the kids burrito was made with care and quality.
Delicious meal - top notch mexican food. authentic, careful presentation, and thoughtful portions. The waitstaff is cheerful and prompt. The atmosphere is quiet, breezy, and pleasingly simple. With entrees you receive a salsa flight - jalapeño salsa, avocado poblano salsa, serrano chili oil with pine nuts, and habanero crema. A small chips is also complementary. The tacos are a bit pricy, but the food is well worth it. I got the guacamole to start (enough for 2-3 people) then the cabbage salad, and a large pozole. The large pozole is quite large, enough for 2 people almost. The cabbage salad is refreshing, hydrating, and a tad spicy. If you do an appetizer or 2, go with a smaller order size for sure. To go is available. Will definitely go again next time i’m in town.
High end Mexican restaurant. Very good. They open up early so that’s the reason we chose this place. So glad we did. They start you off with a small plate of chips dipped in mole and beans. With the chips comes an array of salsas, some I’ve never tried before. Very unique. The food looked like a masterpiece. It was so tasteful. We chose this place because it advertised pozole. Just a note that they don’t serve pozole until lunch. Highly recommend!
Modern twist on Mexican food with fancy presentations, finger licking authentic food and great friendly service by the staff. This is a family owned restaurant which opened within the last year. We were a party of 7 and Brandon took excellent care of us (including advising us for dishes with nuts as one of us had allergies). We ordered a mix of vegetarian and other dishes and all of them looked and tasted great! The drinks can probably get a little better (bit more alcohol) and ordering at the table definitely would be a great help! Definitely coming again soon.
Ray our server was amazing and the chef was incredibly accommodating in splitting the pazole amongst the seven of us in the party! Wonderful atmosphere, so cute and decorated tastefully with accents of charm. The food was phenomenal and would recommend this place to anyone visiting Santa Barbara — the tamale and pazole are both made by the chef’s mother and it tastes exactly like that! So authentic and perfectly home cooked warmth that is refreshing at a Mexican restaurant. This place gets packed so make sure to make reservations! It will be well worth your time.
The tamales were excellent. The rice and beans were also very good. The only suggestion, the restaurant should give larger serving of salsa and chips.
Chef Ramon Velazquez has done it again. This time with some comfort food like Imelda's (his mom) pozole. We were able to get a table during Fiesta weekend and enjoyed guacamole, queso fundido, tamales, sangria, margaritas, creative salsas, mole, and finished with a divine brioche churro french toast. It was good the weather was nice, because we needed to take a walk afterward. We will definitely be back.
If y'all have been to Corazón Cocina then you know how good the food is, Corazón Comedor is the same! We had a great time here. The service was excellent, the staff was very attentive and even Chef Ramon attended us. He was very welcoming and informative of the salsas they had to offer which were all delicious. We only had tacos this time but can't wait to go back and try all the other stuff they offer.
This place was delicious! I went on a Saturday for brunch around 11:15am and got a table right away. Started to get busy around 11:45am. It was my first time there so I ordered the breakfast burrito and berry French toast. SO GOOD! Coffee was spectacular as well. 😃

Amazing food!! Authentic Mexican, delicious one of the best I've had in a very long time. The mole sauce with honemade totopos is spectacular, the salsas they bring you each one unique, each delicious in it's own way. Every dish typical home made Mexican brought to the next level. I still think about the food. I only wished I lived in California to eat there more often. 10/10

Food was absolutely delicious and authentically adjacent—meaning it has a more modern take on traditional Mexican food, but remains very authentic in flavor and taste. The venue definitely has the Spanish vibe down, with a beautifully designed interior featuring table-and-booth hybrid seating by a tall windowpane, creating a cozy nook-type area. I was seated here with a menu and informed that ordering is counter service, making it a bit more casual, though staff still brings the food to your seating of choice. Loved the use of Lotería cards for order identification—such a lovely touch and a great detail that added to the overall experience. They also have tables for larger groups and a flat screen playing classic ’50s-style Latino novelas. The venue wasn’t initially packed when I arrived, but it quickly picked up with incoming foot traffic. I ordered the burrito, which was mouthwateringly delicious: beans, rice (added in), strip steak, crema, guac, cheese, green sauce, and no pico (a personal preference I omitted, though it is included), all wrapped in a soft tortilla with just a slight crisp. Washed it down with the almond horchata—OMG. Such a unique and flavorful take on the classic agua fresca. Absolutely loved it. My only slight issue was the wait time to order. A couple groups ahead of me had quite a few questions about the menu, which held up the line for a while. There’s only one counter for ordering, so come with patience. That said, everyone was friendly, the staff apologized for the wait, and the service was still amazing. Side note: the bathroom was super adorable—its own little vibe. I have a thing for cute bathrooms and love when venues take the time to ensure the full experience is delivered. Thank you for the great experience. 🙂
We stopped by to visit this beautiful little city and Corazon Comedor was recommended. I stopped here with my family and the little restaurant was cozy, well maintained and the service was great! The dècor is very nice. The menu was not huge but the food is delicious! Definitely a great place to dine! #D-LOrecommended😃👍

Fast service. Food was good. Coffee drinks were very pretty but not very warm. The mole was a bit sweet. Got there early before a big rush so it is a popular place.

Was underwhelming. Lacked flavor in my opinion- at least what we ordered. Not a fan of ordering at the counter - then being asked for a tip. I tip well when it's warranted - such as if they come to my table and take my order. Salsa's were good but chips and salsa were not free and they were very skimpy on the chips. Not sure I would go back.
I genuinely wanted to love this place. After reviewing the menu and photos online, my girlfriend and I made it a priority stop during our visit to Santa Barbara. She is of Mexican heritage and immediately recognized dishes that felt authentic and representative of her family’s region. Unfortunately, the experience fell far short of expectations. We went for breakfast, and one of the main reasons we chose this restaurant was to try the café de olla. My girlfriend had talked it up as incredible traditional Mexican coffee that I had to experience. We were told they were out of it. That set the tone early, especially when it was one of the items that drew us in. The setup is counter service. You wait in line, place your order, receive a lotería card, then find your own table. Food is brought out when ready, but there is no follow up once it hits the table. There was confusion while ordering. My girlfriend initially ordered chicken enchiladas with green sauce and was told they were unavailable. She switched to shrimp enchiladas with red sauce, and also ordered tacos al gobernador and a margarita. I ordered the birria plate and a Mexican Coke. The total already felt steep for what we ordered. While waiting for drinks, I went to get water and was told it was in a metal pitcher by the wall. There were no cups. When I asked for cups, I was directed to the back of the ordering line. It took roughly 15 minutes just to get two glasses of water. The salsa bar was also poorly maintained. Several salsas were empty and never refilled while we were there. I asked for small dishes so we could at least use what was available and was told they would bring some out, but they never did. When the food arrived, they brought both enchilada plates, including the one they had said was unavailable. We had been charged for both. My girlfriend ended up with three full dishes plus my plate. It felt disorganized and poorly managed. Her margarita was a 2 out of 5 and the weakest one we had during the trip. My birria was decent but not memorable. It tasted similar to what I can get from a taco truck back home. A serious concern for me was that the birria plate included avocado even though it was not listed in the description. I am highly allergic to avocado. If it had been disclosed, I would have asked for it to be removed. Including a common allergen without listing it on the menu is a significant oversight. To finish, we asked three times for a to go box and never received one. Eventually, we gave up and left. The menu and photos look fantastic. The food itself was acceptable. But between running out of featured items, confusion at ordering, lack of restocking, allergy issues, and overall disorganization, the experience was frustrating from start to finish. Based on this visit, I cannot recommend it. Santa Barbara has better options for Mexican food that likely deliver a smoother and more attentive experience.
A reluctant bad review as used to like this place. 2 out of 4 diners got food poisoning 10 days ago and narrowed it down to the shrimp tacos. Wrote to then phoned the restaurant to discuss but was ignored. The guy who answered said the manager "will probably get back to you" - they didn't. Poor kitchen hygiene had an impact on us and they wouldn't respond in any way. Shame, as love all the Corazon venues in SB.
