Opinions de Bouchon Santa Barbara
Average entree being $50-$60 per person & appetizers being over $20 $30 we expected high standards.....and they met. The foods were meticulously put together with very fancy presentation & the taste of the foods were world class. We were not disappointed. The service was highly professional and attentive to details. These pictures speak for itself. If you ever go to Santa Barbara, you must check it out.
We had a fantastic birthday dinner for my husband. The hostess added a sweet card and rose petals to the table. Our waiter, Carey helped us decided on the perfect bottle of wine that paired well with the duck two ways and the wagyu ribeye which were both delicious! We started with the soup and persimmon and burrata salad and finished with dessert but the star were the salad, entrees and wine along with attentive service. I’m glad we made time as it was an enjoyable evening.
Don't ask yourself if you should dine at Bouchon, ask yourself when you can dine at Bouchon. My wife and I have been coming for 15 years and it is still our first choice whether we are celebrating a birthday, an anniversary or want a romantic evening away. The staff is caring and responsive. I often have seen the owner walking around checking with guests and giving his personal touch. They hand write notes for special occasions which is classy and appreciated. The food is always delicious and varied depending on the season because they source locally. Presentation is near perfect on the plate. The atmosphere is intimate and respectful. I always recommend the trio of scallops followed by either their pork or beef option. Again, the menu can change, but there is always a fish, fowl, pork and beef option. I have also seen venison but I don't know if its permanent.
Bouchon exceeded every expectation. The ambiance is warm, romantic, and intimate — the kind of place perfect for a special night out. The service was gracious and attentive without being overbearing, and our server, Dominic, guided us beautifully through the menu and wine selections. Every dish felt elevated and thoughtfully composed. The maple-glazed duck breast was cooked to perfection, the trio of scallops had distinct flavors and textures that complemented each other, and the French onion soup delivered that comforting, rich depth I always hope for. The wine list features excellent local selections, and Dominic's recommendation was the perfect complement to the food. We had a show at the Granada Theater and Dominic ensured our meal was served timely with plenty of time to walk to the venue.
Definitely lives up to the reviews. The food was delicious and the service was top-notch. The salads were tasty, but the entrées were the highlight of the dinner. Both the venison and lamb were prepared to proper temperature and seasoned perfectly.
A first rate meal and a fantastic experience. I took my Wife out for her birthday and Bouchon was the perfect place to dine. The service was fantastic, our dishes were expertly prepared, and they were delicious! There was literally nothing I didn't absolutely love about this place.
We had an absolutely wonderful experience at Bouchon and couldn’t be more grateful to the entire team. We hosted our post-elopement dinner here, and from the planning process to the night itself, everything was handled with care, professionalism, and genuine warmth. The service was exceptional, the atmosphere was beautiful, and the attention to detail made our celebration truly unforgettable. Our guests felt welcomed and well taken care of, and the table setup and overall flow of the evening were flawless. Thank you to the entire Bouchon team for helping create such a meaningful and memorable night for us. We will absolutely cherish this experience and look forward to returning again soon. Highly recommend.
An excellent restaurant with fabulous service, incredible food, and a great atmosphere. We had a glass of Chardonnay each, the wagyu, and the roasted chicken. Everything was perfectly prepared and very well seasoned. We were treated with respect and kindness. Great way to celebrate our engagement and finding a suitable wedding venue in the SB area. Thank you bouchon!!
This was a phenomenal experience. The tartar was the best I've ever had. The trio of scallops was so amazing. I had seared salmon as a main course and the lemon berry cake was absolutely amazing. Service was above and beyond. So pleased I chose this place. This is a must if you are in Santa Barbara. 10/10
One of the longtime classics in Santa Barbara - farm-to-table restaurant with romantic ambience. We had an appreciation dinner here and it couldn’t have been lovelier. Quality food with attentive, non-pretentious service. Perfect for a sophisticated night out!
Definitely the best place if you want good French food in Santa Barbara. If I were to treat my special guest or celebrate a special occasion, I'd pick this place. It's on the pricier side even in SB. The scallops were amazing. And the lamb, too. Friendly staff and great service. I'm personally not a big fan of their interior design, but I can see its appeals.
Hello everyone! I wanted to share my experience of visiting this establishment! The quality of the food, the presentation of the dishes, everything was great. But the service is not so good, and it seems that the waiter tried and seemed to be a professional, but he brought one dish instead of the two ordered, although he repeated everything before leaving. And in the end we asked to split the payment, there were 5 of us, for 2 and 3 of them and he mixed up the bills again. But overall everything is good. Thank you
Lovely place with warm atmosphere and delicious food. Not to mention great wines list from local and northern wineries. We enjoyed fresh salad with arugula peached and burrata, and warm goat cheese salad. Ahi Tuna was the best I tried so far. And profiteroles for the special birthday desert. Lovely dinner experience at lovely place. Special thanks to their wonderful people who made the evening even more memorable 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
My husband and I have been coming to Bouchon for 4 years. We went here on our first date, our engagement night, and now our one year wedding anniversary. Bouchon holds a special place in our hearts and stomach. The quality dishes, its romantic and laidback vibes, and its customer service is always on point. Shout out to our waiter Dominic—he knows his wines! Thank you Bouchon for making our celebrations perfect. ❤️
Fantastic food as always. Loves the center square table near the open kitchen.
One of the best dining experiences I've ever had. Everything from the wine selection to the entree to the dessert was fantastic. Our server, Dom, was highly knowledgeable while being friendly and down to earth, a combination I feel confident is present with all the staff. The lamb and the pork chop were fantastic. Both cuts tender and well prepared. One gets a sense that there's a real understanding of how to combine simple raw ingredients into a cohesive meal that lights up the palette and every detail of the meal affirms this suspicion. Finally, the ambiance was sublime. With the likes of Ahmad Jamal and David Brubeck streaming softly in the background and restaurant design choices that fall in line with the beauty of Santa Barbara while also aligning with the restaurant's French influence, every minute in the restaurant feels like a vacation. If you're looking for a nice night out in Santa Barbara, look no further.
Well worth a visit! Had fantastic signature duck and lamb dishes - easily matched what we were looking for! So just did the Santa Barbara Farmer's Market Tour with Chef Nate, and then dinner with a personalized menu and wine pairings - an excellent experience!! Well done, bouchon!

We went to celebrate our anniversary…the pace of dinner reminded me of being in France. The food was sooo good. The goat cheese tart and my husband rib eye were highlights. The service was fantastic - we got to meet the owner and hear his story of how he started bouchon and that was fun (especially to learn he was a fellow Gaucho!). Will 100% be back.

Thank you, Bouchon, for making my intimate wedding dinner a dream come true! Leading up to the big day, Mitchell was responsive and accommodating to my requests. Eric then took over and made sure the night went smoothly and I was happy. Morgan and all our servers that night were amazing! Knowledgeable, warm and attentive. ALL the food was delicious. Can’t wait to be back!
My wife and I have loved this place ever since I proposed to her here many years ago. I like that they just focus on a few dishes cause their quality is always consistently good. They do offer seasonal items though and their trio of scallops were very good. Great sear on the scallops and the different flavor combinations were delicious, especially the one with ratatouille. We also got the Escargot with puff pastry which was exquisite. For our mains, my wife got the duck duo (confit thigh and a seared breast) and I got the filet au poivre and we both cleaned our plates. Washing it all down with a couple Chimay red label beers made it even better. If you like French food and are in Santa Barbara you should def try this place.

Mitchell has built a just absolutely superb experience that really feels like a family. The atmosphere, service, and food were top notch. If you can have Dominic as your server, it just brings it all together. Dominic walked us through the entire menu with his recommendations and pairings and paired wines with each course. Also always love an open kitchen where you can see the magic happen. Just a top notch dinner experience for any night but especially for a special occasion. My ONLY note— I was HOT by the end of the meal, but we were sitting at the table next to the open kitchen—I would recommend sitting outside or toward the front area.
We shared a family reunion dinner in Bouchon’s private “Cork Room” a couple days ago and it was perfect! The spacious room and table fit our party of fourteen very comfortably, and we had complete privacy behind a curtain separating us from the main dining room. Our server, Dominic, was knowledgeable, attentive, and always helpful. He gave excellent advice on the food menu and wine pairings from an extensive list of local vineyards. Appetizers, entrees, and desserts were all fabulous, from grilled duck breast and confit, to local sea bass and seared tuna, to ribeye steak, rack of lamb, and venison. Everyone loved the food, the atmosphere, and the service. My mushroom ragout appetizer and duck entree were both delicious. One brother-in-law (a real carnivore) raved that the venison was the best red meat of any kind he has ever tasted. My youngest sister (a discriminating restaurant manager who can be quite critical) was uniformly wowed by the whole experience.
A really good place to get local seafood. As a group, we tried the sea bass, lamb, and chicken. The dishes were cooked perfectly, although I do wish the sea bass was more flavorful (it was a little bland). Service was fast and staff were really nice and helpful. Otherwise, it’s in a great location and ambiance is excellent. Overall, highly recommended.
Amazing dinner but skip the dessert. The trio of sea scallops and the forest mushroom ragout were a fantastic start to dinner. If we could, we would have chosen the carpaccio scallop for a main course as it was light and buttery. The main courses our party had were all delectable, well presented, and paired nicely with our waiter’s wine recommendations. The only drawback was that the cream puffs we ordered for dessert were rather stale and not worth finishing.
