Opinions de Santa Barbara Craft Ramen Santa Barbara
Extremely solid ramen (the pork belly was excellent). Fair price. Good portion. Fast service. 5/5 would eat again.
This is hands down the BEST ramen in downtown Santa Barbara, our family’s go-to spot every time! From the moment we walk in, we’re greeted with warm smiles and treated like we truly belong. The service is incredibly fast without ever feeling rushed, and they always make sure we’re taken care of. The ramen is absolutely incredible — rich, flavorful, and the kind of meal that warms your soul and fills your belly just right. Even our kiddos can’t get enough and always ask when we’re coming back! We leave here happy every single visit. Delicious food, genuinely kind people, and a place that feels like home, this restaurant deserves all the stars 🌟
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This place is so nice! ✨ At night, the fires turn on and create such a cozy, beautiful atmosphere. 🔥 It’s in the perfect location, and they have a delicious miso veggie soup with tofu that I absolutely love. 🍲 My boyfriend first brought me here, and now I can’t stop coming back! ❤️ The staff are always so pleasant and go out of their way to accommodate me, which I really appreciate. Highly recommend! 🌿
Every time I come to Santa Barbara, I pass by this place. It's always packed so we decided to finally try it. We got the tuna katsu and that was okay, we found it under seasoned. Hubby and I both got the black ramen and my kids ate the original ramen. The kids gave the ramen 9/10. We give it 10/10. The ramen was very delicious. We gave the chicken karage 8/10. Overall a great experience.
We stopped in for lunch on a weekday and were promptly seated. The outdoor patio area is roomy and cool, even with the sun shining brightly outside. The ramen was fantastic and a great portion - we couldn't have eaten another bite. Pork belly was incredibly tender and flavorful, with a slight sweetness but it was not cloying as the marinated pork belly can be at other places. We also had the friend gyoza appetizer, which was good but the ramen was excellent. Yuzu shio ramen was citru- forward and we enjoyed that too.
We were in the mood for ramen while passing through Santa Barbara, and this spot hit the mark! The ambiance was cozy with heaters that made it perfect for a chilly evening. The Black Ramen with garlic was rich and comforting, while the Red Ramen brought just the right amount of spice. Happy hour drinks were a great addition, and the friendly staff really made the experience memorable. If you're ever in Santa Barbara craving a flavorful bowl of ramen, definitely stop by!
everything was great! we ordered a little bit of everything — a large pork chashu bowl, a california roll, a salmon + avocado roll, an original tonkotsu ramen, and the matcha boba. we even ordered an extra egg because they were so amazing! the service and atmosphere were great as well. it was very kid-friendly and the wait staff were all extremely kind :)
We came right as they opened for the night. My wife and I both like the Tsukemen (dipping noodles with a rich, thick soup to dip the noodles into) and it was delicious. It’s not authentic Japanese flavors (they add lime to it, which elevated the flavors very well. Very complementary to the dipping soup!) but it doesn’t have to be to be delicious. My daughter had the regular tonkotsu ramen which was yummy. We ordered spam musubis and fried squid. The musubis were good but we thought the rice to spam ratio was a little off for an appetizer; it was a lot of rice! Very yummy nonetheless. The portion sizes are quite generous and I ordered extra noodles as well. I eat a lot and was able to do it, but for most people the bowl and an appetizer is likely enough! Also, the portions of meat were extremely generous and the pork was excellent. Crispy ends without losing tenderness or juiciness. Like I said it’s not an authentic-to-Japan place; it’s more of a fusion type place, but what they make they make VERY good.
5 star for the ramen. We also tried Hamachi jalapeno and spicy tuna roll (no soy sauce), which were so-so. We asked for our water twice but didn't get it. I don't blame the waiters much since it was crowded and they seemed to be short-handed. But seeing us drinking from a bottle should have been a hint?
We loved this spot for our first taste of Santa Barbara, conveniently close to our hotel. The ramen was tasty with a charred pork belly (in a good way) very flavorful. We sat outside and the sun was just starting to come out after rain on a Tuesday. It was a little chilly, but the restaurant provided heat lamps. My dish was do so. It was a beef bowl and the meat was sparse and lacked flavor. We also got chicken karaga which was very tasty and came with a soy sauce and slightly spicy yellow mustard sauce! The worst part and no fault of the restaurant, but two yappy dogs were there throughout the service and the owners made little attempt to quiet them down. Overall if was a pleasant place and a great location.
SB Craft Ramen is a fun spot to eat at if you’re craving ramen or sushi. The ramen definitely has a California spin on the classic ramen bowl. I usually get the veggie ramen, it has things I normally wouldn’t put in ramen such as greens and quinoa, and somehow it goes really well in the dish. On my recent visit on a Saturday night the edamame was overcooked and some sushi pieces fell apart. Waitstaff were running around and not the most attentive, so that’s why 4 stars instead of 5. The seating area right on State St is definitely more upbeat and buzzy compared to the seating area in the back which is a little more quiet. Our group enjoyed the buzz!
Nice ramen and sushi restaurant. Service was excellent! Ramen was good. I thought the sushi was really good and presented very well. The SB craft red/spicy ramen could be spicier for my palete, I needed to add more chili paste. Flavor of the spicy broth was otherwise good. I did like at ambience, it was plenty busy when we visited at about 8pm on a Thursday. Finally the Japanese beer that accompanied the food was very reasonably priced and served nice and cold!
Nothing over the top amazing but not bad. We have had a lot of ramen with house made noodles, broth, chasu, shoyu egg, etc. and this was not that. Lacking a lot of flavor and richness. Also pretty pricey once you add in the egg and some corn. Nice atmosphere too high and very laid back. The heaters were nice and warm on the outdoor patio. We got the spicy and original tonkotsu ramen and some fried gyoza.
Ordered the chicken & veggie Ramen. Apps were the fried salmon & the vegan Karaag. Pretty decent portions and flavors! I was not blown away by the flavors but would return to try other items on the menu. It can be pretty loud here even during lunch hours. The r&b/pop music playing outdoors and the different genre music playing in the restaurants kitchen are so close together it clashed & was really difficult to hear the person in front of me. Hopefully they can turn the kitchen music down or arrange the seating away from the kitchen. Again- not food related but not somewhere I would hang around too long for. Possibly will take to go next time.
The ramen was too spicy. We asked for it to be made a little less spicy, but it was still too much. The people at the next table also couldn't eat their ramen because it was too spicy. I wanted a crispy roll, but he recommended «the best hot roll», which turned out to have imitation crab. I think it would have been better if he had mentioned that. The Philadelphia roll looked like this 😅 The waiter disappeared at the end and didn't bring us the check. We had to find someone ourselves to pay
I ordered the vegetable ramen and a side of edamame. Total: 23.50 pre tax/tip. The ramen was extremely low effort, it's clear they barely care about it or vegetarian/vegan customers. Part of this is my fault - I should have noticed "dried cranberries", and recognized it as the warning sign it was. The reason they include the cranberries is because they dump raw pre-mixed kale salad directly into the ramen. The included tofu was still cold in the middle, also. I like plain brocollini, which is great, because that was included as well. The broth was fine and the noodles were pretty good. I'm more upset by the edamame, honestly. They were soft and overcooked, no snap or crunch. I have a feeling they were frozen/microwaved, but it's possible they just messed it up. Completely unacceptable for a six dollar appetizer though. Service was good - no complaints about the waitstaff.
