Opinions de Rare Society Santa Barbara
The entire staff was amazing, creating a great vibe. The food was delicious.
This place delivered. Excellent steakhouse. Amazing food, great service, great atmosphere.
Truly enjoyed dining at Rare Society. We came here as a last minute decision to celebrate my birthday, based on recommendations by individuals in the local wine industry. Bacon appetizer was so deliciously tasty, fatty, and smooth. Iceberg salad was a true classic - both crisp and rich! Bullseye ribeye grilled over the red oak was satisfying to the mouth - in texture and flavour! Chose Paul Lato Cinémathique to accompany our classic steakhouse dinner. And have to give a mention to the butter cake with sour cream ice cream - mmmm. Our server Tara was professional and easygoing. Hope she enjoyed having us as much as we did her.
Absolutely incredible experience! Overall, the staff was awesome, food was delicious and atmosphere was great - we had a blast! Erik (server) was very attentive and gave some great recommendations (that we ended up going with) and let me tell you... not a single disappointment! We tried the bacon (JUST GET IT, SERIOUSLY), artichoke, lamp lolipops a rockefeller oysters (soooo good) as starters. Then we ordered the Executive Board (for 3 people, it was perfect and could probably feed 4, considering all the appetizers we got). I love that all the meats/sauces were explained thoroughly so that we knew what we were digging into. With that, we each got a side of au gratin potatoes. We probably over ordered there since they are a little heavier, but so delish and creamy! Finally, we finished with cheesecake and it disappeared - no crumbs left! Although wine was recommended, we actually chose cocktails. Bookeeper and the Woodfire Pineapple Margarita were it! We will definitely be back!
Great place with oysters Monday . $1 and oysters were some of the best I've ever had. Manager is a class act just like the restaurant .
Literally one of the most enjoyable dinner experiences ever! We got the oysters, ribeye, bacon (HIGHLY RECOMMEND), wagyu with lobster, potato rostë, house rolls, and snickers cake as dessert for my birthday. Everything was so delicious and high quality. Not to mention we had the best server, Rafa! He made the vibe even better. Service and food is unbeatable — thanks for a great birthday dinner.
We love to sit at the bar here and recently tried the signature wagyu burger which was to die for!!! Absolutely perfect in every way. The Brussels sprouts were incredible too, they had tajin and cojita cheese and they were superb!!! The artichoke was great as well. Very friendly staff at the bar too!
This is going to become a really popular spot! Classy interior & bar, nice outdoor patio, really nice bartenders & servers. I sat at the bar and had an amazing cocktail, wine & filet mignon steak. Made friends with the couple at the bar next to me, and they shared one of the most delicious rolls I have ever tasted- I’m definitely coming back!
Hands down one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. I have been to Holdren’s, Chuck’s, and even Mastros steakhouses, and they got smoked by the chef and service here, 11/10 would recommend to a friend :)
My new favorite steakhouse! Delicious food, beautiful craft cocktails, and impeccable service. Love the ambience of the place, too. Conveniently located near the waterfront, this restaurant is a true gem in Santa Barbara.
This place is the best steak house in Santa Barbra. From food service and atmosphere. With great prices! Go and please get the butter cake for dessert! INSANE
The food was amazing, great, friendly staff and awesome cocktails. I’m definitely trying their others restaurants in Solana Beach & San Diego. I visited the Santa Barbara one about 2 weeks ago. It was a very pleasant and delicious experience.
Sheesh, the Philly cheesesteak is out of this world delicious. Cocktails were super yummy and the service of the staff was incredible. We went for happy hour and had lovely conversation with the bartenders over some really great eats and drinks.
Best ribeye I’ve ever had. On top of that, the staff was knowledgeable and kind. Their seating policies are a bit silly, but I’m glad I didn’t let that deter me. I’ll be back.
They have a daily happy hour which makes the bar area busy. Wait staff is trained well and there to assist. All the food we ordered was cooked properly and came out in a timely manner.
Fantastic. Came here for a birthday and can’t wait to come back. Ordered the 1/2 dozen oysters and they were lovely. Next, we had the executive board with three steaks and bone marrow. The best part was the NY strip and I would only get that next time over the other steaks offered on the board. The lobster potatoes And broccolini were life changing. I would skip the crème brûlée. Tara’s customer service was fantastic!! Great atmosphere and cleanliness. You’re in good hands if you eat here. It’s right off the train stop in your coming via the Surf-liner.
Our server was wonderfull, first time here, but not our last . Business dinner, but they made it feel like a family dinner. Thank you, Ky
My girlfriend and I had an absolutely amazing time for their Happy Hour menu. Our server Ky was super knowledgeable of their offerings. The chef even came out and said hi! 10/10 will be back for dinner!
I had the most incredible dining experience here, and it was made even more memorable by our outstanding server, Levi! From the moment you walked in, the ambiance is incredibly warm, elegant, and inviting - the attention to detail in the restaurant's decor is nothing to overlook. Now, let's talk about the food – absolutely divine! Each dish was a burst of flavors, expertly crafted and beautifully presented. The menu offered a great selection of not only amazing steaks options, but many other options such as a raw bar, great seafood, and some American favorite - Levi was there to professionally guide us through the options. His knowledge of the menu and the ingredients was impressive, and he made the dining experience feel personalized and special. He’s also rather knowledgeable about his cocktails & and spirits. Do yourself the favor and grab yourself a rare old fashioned (dry aged fat-washed bourbon, rosemary oleo, bitters). Quite an incredible bar program they run! The entire staff at Rare Society seemed genuinely invested in creating a wonderful experience for their guests, and Levi was no exception. His professionalism and warm demeanor added an extra layer of enjoyment to our evening, and we left feeling incredibly satisfied and grateful with the service. If you find yourself in Santa Barbara and are looking for a remarkable dining experience in a favorable location, I say make this restaurant a must. And if you're lucky enough to have Levi as your server, you're in for quite the treat. I was noted they have a great happy hour too - and was told their Philly cheesesteak is to die for. Best believe I will be back for that!
As a local it’s nice to rediscover a restaurant that’s been around for a little bit and to find that it has improved. We came here during their first week and didn’t leave all too happy, but that’s changed. We literally popped in without a reservation on a Thursday and walked into to super friendly staff; the hostess was super kind and accommodated us right away, our waitress I wish I got her name, she was super friendly and helped us get in and out quickly. They changed our place settings discreetly, which is a huge plus with kids, and I have to say the filet was incredible, the artichoke was one of the best I’ve had in a while, the au gratin potatoes were insane and my filet was perfect. Overall surreal experience considering all the poor restaurants around. We will definitely be back!
Really great food! Service was excellent! Thank you Tara! Music is a bit loud. Only a bit, takes away from the overall impression. Best Caesar salad I have ever had, and, definitely a fantastic steak or three as well. Went for two of the wagyu platters. Super delicious. I'd not hesitate to take family. Only a bit loud for those wearing hearing aids. Parking is ok early on. I'd suggest 6 p.m. dining or earlier.
Great place for a sophisticated date night. If you are in the mood for a great steak and old fashion, this is the place for you. The service from the host to our server was exceptional, quite attentive and personable. Enjoyed how the theme plays throughout the decor and furniture and the ambiance during dinner was lovely. Would eat here again and recommend.
Excellent, unique food options that are all made from high quality ingredients. The cocktails are excellent and also very unique. The interior design is gorgeous and they made nice use of the space. The service was pretty lackluster as we had to ask multiple times to receive another drink and three times we had to ask for the check. Finally the manager got it for us and the bartender seemed pretty annoyed that we didn’t want desert even though we had already spent 300+ on food and drinks. While the service was extremely disappointing it was their first night so we tried to not be too upset by it. OVERALL Rare Society is an excellent addition to Santa Barbara and has the potential to quickly become a go to steakhouse in the area.
Kara was extremely kind, attentive, and informative. Our evening was well paced and not a step in the sequence of service was missed. Everything was delicious and cooked to perfection. It was a really nice place to celebrate our special occasion.
Their steak and bourbon selections were great We walked in without a reservation and found a couple seats at the bar. That worked out really well. The steaks were amazing.
Wish I could give the bar staff 20 stars on this review. Came in on Saturday 10/21 after the power outage up State St. had thrown a wrench in our original dinner plans. Due to most of State being out of power, the restaurant had a bigger than normal rush happening. We decided to sit at the bar and eat since there were 2 seats opened. When we shared that our anniversary dinner up the street had fallen through, the team went above and beyond to make sure we were well taken care of. Food was awesome, drinks were great. The barback gal was super helpful and friendly too. Then they recommended the butter cake... not my usual dessert pick and it ROCKED! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU A MILLION TIMES! Kept me and wifey very happy and we will return for sure now. Great job!
From the cocktails, to appetizers, to steaks... rare society was by far one of the best restaurants SB has to offer. 40 day dry aged NY strip and the ceasar salad were my favorites.
First time checking out Rare Society and I gotta admit, they have one of the BEST customer service I’ve ever had. They treated us with respect and made us feel welcomed and comfortable. We ordered their Cedar River Prime Ribeye and it was very juicy and delicious. Highly recommend you try it out! It was totally worth paying the price. Will be coming back to this place when in town.
Really amazing food, cocktails, and ambiance here. The interior design was very detailed and the circle run flow was a cool concept. The board selection is definitely a fun friend experience, or would be an equally fun date night. The potato rösti was out of this world with deliciousness! 12/10 recommend for your next night out. Edit to add that the service staff was beyond attentive, if your water glass was half full it would be immediately replenished. Our waitress was very kind and brought out an extra potato dish for me to have since I had arrived late to the dinner coming from work and missed the initial experience.
Food was excellent (got a steak platter). Service was fantastic. Ambience is excellent. Only disappointment was the 25$ old fashioned. Should have been much stronger for the price. Otherwise really it's a $14-$15 old fashioned. Everything else was great! Make reservations.
Beautiful new restaurant tucked into the perfect location. Highly recommend for a special occasion with a small group so you can try more things. Service was exceptional. Food was excellent and memorable! Clams with chorizo, fried chicken, Tri Tip (impressive especially as we’ve grown up with this cut), Denver, filet, whole lobster and summer corn side were the stars of the show. Okay that’s a lot of stars, like I said, go with others so you can share
We had an exceptional dinner at Rare Society and have to give a special thanks to Trevor who took such good care of us and made sure we had an amazing evening. The steaks were cooked to perfection and the potato au gratin with truffle on the side was so delicious. The miso glazed carrots were not to my taste but my husband liked them. All the food was washed down with a lovely bottle of red wine. We happened to mention to Trevor that we were travelling on our honeymoon and at the end of our meal he brought us a complimentary glass of bubbles each, this was such a lovely gesture and went down a treat! The inside of the restaurant is absolutely beautifully decorated. We were the last customers but did not feel rushed to leave at the end at all. I could not recommend Rare Society any higher - thank you for such a wonderful evening.
If I could give more than 5 stars I would. What a dining experience! Filet mignon was amazing. The dinner rolls were a luscious treat and my husband couldn’t stop talking about the Denver wagu cuts. The weight staff was super sweet and friendly, and the ambience was cool. I will definitely stop here on my way back through town next time.
Read many of the reviews and had to see if I agreed with any of negative ones. I would say, ignore the negative reviews based on our experience! We were a party of 7, coming for a birthday party. When we arrived, a staff signed bday card was waiting for us! Server was friendly, welcoming and always checked in on us. He didn't try to up sell us on more food than we needed. Made some great recommendations. We went for the Executive Board so we could share and sample the aged steaks with 3 different sauces. Added in a Pork Tomahawk and the Cedar River Ribeye. All the streaks were cooked rare to medium rare, which was great for us! Sauces were perfect for the meats, and if you want a real horseradish sauce, go for the "Atomic" option they offer -- you wont be disappointed! For sides and starters, we got the Parker Rolls, Artichoke, Potatoe Au Gratin, Mushrooms, Asparagus, and Broccolini! Finished it off with the Butter cake to share since we had a dessert at home. They brought the Butter Cake out with a candle . . . Another detail to great service. 5 stars all around. Only docked the atmosphere by one star cause the music was a little loud. But overall, we had a great time. Yes, it's not cheap, but we had a great time for my son's 30th bday. Recommend highly.
Loved this place. First time to Santa Barbara and I didn’t want to leave. The sword steak, Parker rolls, lamb chop lollipops, steak was to live for!!! Drinks during happy hour were good too. Cosmopolitan was delish!!
Came here for an anniversary and we felt so taken care of. Service was super reliable, food was delicious, and the atmosphere was beautiful. Had a minor snag with the bill and some item availability, but everything was handled so smoothly. Can't wait to return.
Rare society is one of Santa Barbara's newer downtown hotspots. Good food and great service and an ideal spot within walking distance to the beach. A little pricey but it has a great atmosphere and service. A good spot to have drinks and dinner and you'll be close to everything downtown Santa Barbara has the offer.
Usually we go to Rare Society to sit at the bar but last night went for the full experience: Beginning with French Champagne and the petit tower of seafood. If you want to experience a 5 star seafood tower in Santa Barbara, I can't recommend any place more than Rare Society. We then had the Fried Chicken which is an odd choice for a steak house but believe me, it is the best fried chicken I've had! The local wine by the glass list is small but each wine is in the top echelon of Santa Barbara County Wines. Ended the evening with butter cake, OMG. And the wait staff are kind and very experienced.
Fantastic experience here: delicious food, and very attentive service. The music was a little upbeat for my tastes, but that was a very minor gripe. We ordered the ribeye, swordfish, roasted broccoli, and mashed potatoes. Everything was extremely good.
Been 3 times, service snd food are excellent. Good crowd and drinks are fantastic!! Meat has been perfect each time, I m a repeat customer for sure!!
Rare Society is an exceptional dining experience that truly showcases the art of steak. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm hospitality and an inviting atmosphere. The menu offered a tantalizing selection of dishes, and we couldn't resist trying their renowned potatoes au gratin, broccolini, and the pinnacle of our meal, the fine Australian Wagyu beef. The potatoes au gratin were a heavenly delight, perfectly creamy with a delectable golden crust. The broccolini, cooked to perfection, added a refreshing touch of green to our meal. And the Wagyu beef, oh my, it was a revelation! Each tender, melt-in-your-mouth bite was bursting with rich flavors and an exquisite texture that left us in awe. The staff's knowledge and passion for their craft elevated our dining experience, ensuring that every detail was taken care of. The combination of the impeccable service, delectable sides, and the extraordinary Australian Wagyu beef made our visit to Rare Society a memorable and truly exceptional culinary journey. If you're in Santa Barbara and seeking an unforgettable steakhouse experience, look no further than Rare Society
we had such an amazing dinner at rare society!! we got married at the courthouse the day of and the staff Ivan and Lauren made us feel so special. managers and chef were also so kind! the food and drink were top notch and so well seasoned and decadent. will def be back. you gotta get the whole roasted lobster, it is SILLY good!!
This place is one of Santa Barbara’s must try places. Every dish was cooked and prepared perfectly. The staff was amazing and you can see how much they care by watching them set a table. Everything has to be perfect. It is a little pricey but worth every penny.
Came here from LA for our honeymoon. Had a beautiful dinner with my wife here and boy… was the food and cuts of meat insanely good. Got a meat board and had a butter cake for dessert, which was to die for. The drinks from here are perfectly balanced with flavor and alcohol. Tara was out server she was very sweet and patient with us since it was our first time here. Very good spot for good cuts of meat and high end food.
Excellent food. The steak tasted buttery, side mushrooms with a yolk was great, and the cocktails are very nice. Nice ambiance and services.
Absolutely 💯 %… a must experience … ordered the Associate platter which comes w Filet mignon, tri-tip, and the Denver w trio of sauses, mashed potatoes, broccoli dish, and an artichoke wood fired… ohhhh my! It’s a must. Service w a smile and great recommendations to fill your palette.
I moved to SB 7 years ago from the south. The main thing I miss about back home is the delicious food. Honestly, this place has the best tasting food I have had since I've been in town. The portions were great and flavors were phenomenal. I truly believe I will have an extremely difficult time topping this experience.
Everything we had was delicious but the Lamb chop lollipops word divine! This was the perfect place to end our girls trip
Let me set you up... My birthday is 2/14, hubby and I missed our original reservations at a different spot. We found this gem on our way to Solvang. Address is 214, which I didn't realize til reading the menu. Menu is just enough to choose from. We started off with shrimp 🦐 cocktail, which was delicious. Then we ordered filet mignon, much tasty I must say. Whipped 🥔 potatoes which come in a cast iron little skillet. Asparagus were amazing and mushrooms 🍄 with the yolk mixed in were to die for. Those dinner rolls are a must. But the staff was so pleasant, we had the lights shut off due to the wind, but staff served us complimentary champagne 🥂 pear martini definitely got the edge off. Service was phenomenal and dessert was bananas foster cheesecake that was recommended. Note, make reservations, we were lucky to have been seated in the patio on Valentine's Day. Memorable dining experience to say the least.
My bestie and I are on vacation and we wanted a good steak, first time here and WOW!!! AMAZING Food, service was outstanding, vibe was so awesome with that retro calming vibe. Let's talk food... Started with the parkerhouse rolls, warm , garlicky butter flavor was great. If you get any side with your meal get the pickled onion rings and asparagus. The flavor was incredible. We also got the shrimp cocktail which the shrimp themselves were so fresh and delicious. Then we got the Wagu Denver , mouth watering delicious, tender and cooked to perfection. Oh and the cocktail, the Flying A Studio was fantastic. Everything was perfect , Thank you Rare Society
Will preface this: I’m a snob and not easily impressed. This was one of the best tasting food restaurants I’ve ever had. I won’t forget it and when I do come back to visit SB, this will be a priority. The food was 12/10.
Located in beautiful section of town, we sat outside and enjoyed chips and salsa. We had Margaritas and they were very good.
Loved the table sharing of the steak. Cooked to perfection. Service was great as well. The glazed carrots were exceptional. Don’t skimp and get the dinner rolls- worth it! The snickers desert was very tasty.
Perfectly named - must be a meat lover to go here. We were four adults and had the Executive board and with some sides it was plenty of food. Service was good - seating a little close for me but a well done space. Unfortunately we had almost finished the board when I remembered to take the photo. Comes with a great selection of sauces.
Great service, food was very good. We did the executive board. It features a variety of the dry aged beef. Outstanding. Looking for wine and a steak night? This would be high on the list.
Dinner tonight drinks last night. 2 nights in a row. Dinner is amazing. Service is what is expected of a fine dining establishment. The executive meat platter and the seafood tower were amazing. The potatoe fondue, Mac and cheese, ravioli and desserts were amazing. Try this place you won’t be sorry. Great bar. Solton is the bomb. Heavy pours.
This is easily in my top 5 restaurants in SB. The oysters are fresh with just the right touch of ocean and they give you real horseradish (watch out!) and all the goodies. I've tried both the dry-aged strip and the aged ribeye - I'm partial to the latter but steak cut is always personal preference. You MUST try the homemade ravioli side (religious experience) and the butter cake (religious experience #2)!

Everything was delicious, service was great. We sat at the bar (we had no reservations on a Saturday night) and Kai was our bartender/server. He gave great recommendations, answered all of our questions and made great cocktails. Only tip is to try to get a reservation or expect a bit of a wait, definitely worth the wait though!
We went with a group of six. The food, with a couple of exceptions, was very good. The exceptions are the reason for 4 stars vs 5. Overall the experience was excellent. The service was friendly and efficient and the vibe is cool. Food wise here's the breakdown - Excellent: Raw oysters, clams, beef tartare, filet, salmon, whipped potatoes, rolls, mixed drinks, bacon, wedge salad Disappointing: Creamed corn (strange taste); Scampi as add on to filet (Industrial) Disaster: Caesar salad (Had the most dressing I've ever encountered on a salad the lettuce was literally swimming in a pool of dressing. It was disgusting. They should use 1/4 the amount of dressing. Add in a deep fried piece of anchovy on top and it was singularly unappealing). We will go back for sure and will ask for the Caesar with the dressing on the side.
Had dinner last night here with friends. The food was amazing. Appetizers were great. We got fresh oysters, Rockefeller oysters’s & the. Bacon. Dinner was great. A bit pricey. But a must try. 😁
Food was good and staff friendly. However food timing was really off (potato gratin before my husband's appetizer, steak while half done with my appetizer) and music was too loud for ambiance.
Had higher expectations for the steak at these prices. Atmosphere was really cool inside with design of mirrors and lights at the tables and bar. Outside has lots of heaters, but none of the ambiance or decorations. Wedge salad had a good dressing, but it was drenched in it and half was inedible. Cesar was ok. Rolls are great. Mac and cheese ok. Filet was great. The $68 ribeye was terrible. Not as well marbled as store bought $17 and 1/4 of it was chewy gristle. Heavily salted. The best part of our meals were the desserts! Butter cake and banana foster were great, but the snickers tart pie was amazing! Very rich and flavorful, with snickers ice cream and caramel drizzle. Our service was good. Very knowledgeable and multiple people kept coming over to check on us and refill waters/drinks. But some special requests went unfulfilled. Food was prompt for how busy. Special drinks taste good, but not much alcohol and lack local draft beer selection. I’d go back for a deserts and drinks at the bar, but not worth the price for steak.
I order steak tartare whenever it is on the menu, but this one remains subpar. Ordered it a couple years ago, too, and then the problem was WAY too salty...which it still is, a little....
Indoor looks amazing. New experience comparing to other restaurants in Town. I don’t have a chance to try cocktails yet. But the food is pretty good. Beef Tartare is super good, highly recommended. The bacon appetizer is good. We got the Boards for entrees. Steaks are not bad. Service is excellent.
Stopped by for a drink before getting dinner next door at loquita. Cocktail was excellent. Only complaint was I’ve never paid $27 for a cocktail in my life. It was good, but not sure it was worth $10 mor than average. Whiskey sour was solid though. Recommend if money is of no concern.

My bride and I had our anniversary dinner there very recently. I have to say we were a bit disappointed. We had a fairly early dinner reservation, and the restaurant was relatively empty, but it appears people were being seated all in one section around us. The hostess recognized our anniversary and my bride and I were seated across from each other, yet another young couple was allowed to sit side-by-side at the table next to us. We don’t eat very heavy, so our order was relatively light and easy for the waiter. However, when my steak was served, he did not bring my wife’s food out to her. I ordered a side of mashed potatoes with lobster, so she ate some of that while expecting to have her food brought to her. We agreed that the dish was runny and salty. Perhaps, too much butter. Also, bits of the lobster shell were in the mashed potatoes. After several minutes of waiting for the waiter to come by again, and allowing my steak to get cold in the process, he checked in on us, and I reminded him that my wife’s food had not yet been brought out. He returned to the kitchen., apparently to order it, because it was not brought out until several minutes after that. This lapse in service and uncharacteristic lack of quality in a very simple side dish put a damper on the evening for us. This was a very simple process when business was light, yet it was messed up. Not what I expected from such a nice restaurant. On a better note, our snow crab claws, bacon, and my filet mignon were done very well. My wife enjoyed her shrimp, scampi, but by that time the experience tarnished everything.

Service and people were great! The food was the saltiest food I’ve literally ever eaten. Fish and broccolini need some serious attention!
Three small steaks, two cocktails, glass of wine, kids mac and cheese, mushrooms, small lamb appetizer: $425. Two of the oysters tasted expired and we're still waiting to see if we get food poisoning from them. The steak was served room temperature, and the medium rare steak was rare. Environment was a tad cheesy but nice in a West Hollywood kind of way. Not too mad about it but wouldn't go again nor recommend it.
Awful service no one asked if we required more drinks, food took over 60 mins to come to table yet other couples served after us had food and attentive service. Ladies restroom full of tissue on the floor. Expensive restaurant for poor service.
Just a recommendation to order medium if u want medium rare. We are experienced daily home steak grillers and know what medium rare looks like. Our recent visit here was, unfortunately, underwhelming. While the ambiance and presentation initially set high expectations, the service and attention to detail left much to be desired. The most significant issue was the steak itself. We specifically ordered our steaks medium-rare, but what arrived at the table was decidedly rare—cold in the center and not at all what we requested. While we understand that mistakes can happen, this seemed like a fundamental error for a steakhouse. To make matters worse, the service was inattentive. After the food was served, we waited over 20 minutes without anyone checking in to ensure everything was satisfactory. By the time we managed to flag someone down, the moment for correcting the issue had passed, leaving us frustrated and hungry for proper service. For a restaurant that prides itself on quality, implementing a proactive table-check policy would significantly enhance the dining experience. Servers should check on each table within the first 5-10 minutes of food being served to address any issues promptly. Additionally, ensuring the kitchen adheres closely to temperature requests is vital for maintaining trust and satisfaction among guests. While the restaurant has potential, the combination of poor service and an improperly cooked steak overshadowed any positives. Until these operational issues are addressed, we’d hesitate to recommend to fellow steak lovers.
Upscale steak house turns in solid performance on first visit. It is worth a try. We tried the waygu Denver, rib eye and New York steaks. They were all well prepared and had good flavor. Not the best I've ever had but solid. And at prices ranging from $48-$78 a la carte they better be good. These are Vegas Strip prices. We had corn and potatoes as sides. All fine. The cocktails and drinks were all good and offered at steak house prices. All in, we enjoyed Rare Society and will return, but perhaps not in a rush. I'm just glad there is another nice steakhouse to compete with Lucky's. SB is a decent steak town.
Arrived during happy hour but had to ask for that menu. Quickly took it away even though it was still happy hour. Food was good. Food runner was very nice. Place is cute. Young latin bartender was a bit arrogant.
Loved the vibe and the guys at bar. The food was bad. This isn’t an epicurean experience I’d repeat. The meat was over flavored and the salads were underwhelming. We didn’t proceed to order entrees the food was so bad.
Everything was great until the last beer I ordered was wrong and an older white lady, that wasn’t our server, randomly dropped the check off then got dismissive and corrected me on their selection when I said the beer I was given wasn’t the ipa I ordered. She def killed the vibe right at the end of a great meal.
I will say the steak was delicious, slightly over cooked from request but more importantly was zero plating of the dish. This is what I received for $54.. they could have thrown a rosemary sprig or a simple purée on the bottom but it just looks like a plate of coal. A massive plate for a small filet. The rolls were delicious, same for the potato au gratin- was just surprised/disappointed when this is what i received
It was a mixed bag experience. The area near the bathroom smelled strongly of bleach the whole night. The interior decoration is very cool. Our server was super nice. When the shrimp cocktail came out, it was ultra salty and they brought out a new one and told me they couldn't give me the spice on the side, which is weird... The manager seemed very unhappy to be there. The lobster was tasty but very unappealing looking. The steak was good but also lacking in presentation. All the food in general was over seasoned, I could barely taste the actual steak. The carrots were good but again very over seasoned with miso. For a $300 bill we should have gotten way higher quality food and service. The cocktails were the best part of the night.

I went to dinner the other night and overall the food was not great, especially for the price. Save your money and go to another restaurant in town. The wait staff, however, did do an amazing job; they made the trip worth it. Like many of the reviews here, the food was really salty; even my husband thought so and he LOVES salt. Also if you're not a fan of truffles, this isn't the place for you.
The service and atmosphere were great, but, we were really disappointed with the food, especially for this price point. Every piece of lettuce in our caesar was browning :( all of our steaks had a char that in some cases overpowered the meat enough such that most of the flavor distinction was lost. Felt like maybe the grill was not being cleaned enough. Unfortunately, it did not live up to the hype for us.
Majority of the steaks ordered at our table were extremely over cooked. When spending $1200+ on dinner, this is unacceptable and the customer service/way it was handled was subpar. Would definitely not return.
We had high hopes for this restaurant, but for the price the food and service were lackluster . We passed by the night before and thought the smell of the oak would make a spectacular dining experience. We opted for the dry aged New York, assuming with the price and location it would be good. The steak was low on flavor (smoke and seasoning ) and tough not tender. The fettuccini Alfredo was very garlicky. Drinks were ok but not timed with dinner service. Overall not worth the he price .
We had a reservation for a party of 10. The restaurant was very nice but was pretty much empty when coming in. To start, we waited about 30 minutes just to receive our drinks, which felt unusually long even for a large group. When our main courses finally arrived, we were still waiting on the sides, which didn’t come out for another 30 minutes. At that point we all finished our main course and no longer needed the sides. Although our server was polite and apologized, he still brought us our sides and did not charge us for them for the long delay. In addition, the staff assisting with cleanup were not nice. At one point, a fork was tossed onto our table, with no apology or acknowledgement. We noticed them whispering to each other repeatedly while glancing in our direction. For a restaurant that is this nice, it was not acceptable. The food and drinks were amazing, no complaints on that point. I wish we had a better time here, because truly had great potential.
Steak was extremely fatty. Wait staff forgot we were there even though our final check was $996 (7 people). Atmosphere is very stark. Not a great place for intimate or nice setting. Wouldn’t recommend for any occasion… it was “fine” but not for nearly $1k. Oysters were good but expensive.

Let me know when that hostess is fired, and maybe we will consider coming back to your restaurant. I also suspect that it might be management who is promoting this “rare” treatment of their guests, and the staff is just following instructions. In any case, you’ve definitely lost an entire family of loyal customers. Ciao
Our family of three ate at the restaurant last night. Two of us who had an expensive steak ended up with a severe food poisoning. Not to mention our bill was $370. Please keep your money and save yourself a trip to emergency room and dine somewhere else.
Very rudely turned away for daring to request a walk in for a party of 4 on the least busy Wednesday evening. Elderly manager lady was raging at the hostess for even considering seating us. Would avoid like the plague.
Nice atmosphere and décor, but the service was very slow and the pork was undercooked. Our group waited a long time for food and left disappointed.
Let us know when you fire the rude older woman with the gray ponytail. We walked up to the BAR at 8:50, as our group had already been seated and was waiting for us. Before we could ask the kind, younger hostess where our party was seated, the older woman snapped her fingers in our faces and said "It's 9:00, we're closed" we tried to explain our party was inside but she rudely interrupted with "no they aren't. goodbye". I totally understand that they were closing and couldn't seat us, but the attitude is unacceptable and hostile. Have been wanting to try this place for a while, and would've been happy to come back another time if I was treated with kindness. Given there are multiple bad reviews about that staff member in particular, but you've done nothing, my guess is she is a manger with special privileges. She was also berating her staff in front of everyone, which made the overall atmosphere unbearable. Will NEVER be spending my money here. I NEVER leave reviews, but I was so disgusted by this lack of service I took the time out of my day to write this. Definitely NOT a business we need to stay here in SB.
