We went to South Coast Deli in Santa Barbara after one of our buddies told us that this was like his family’s go-to spot every single time they came up here. He said it’s a must every trip. He and his mom apparently have been coming here for years, and funny enough, they don’t even get sandwiches. He said what they always get, and what they’ve always been known for, is their Cobb salad. So of course, I had to see what the hype was about. We had a little group with us, my wife and two other couples, and all of us decided to go for it and order the Cobb salad. I’m not even exaggerating when I say I was blown away by how big the bowl was when it came out. I was expecting a smaller salad plate or something basic, but this thing came out looking like a full-on meal for two. Huge, loaded, and just absolutely stacked with everything. The bacon bits, the blue cheese, the eggs, the dressing, all of it came together perfectly. The flavor was incredible, and every bite just worked. You could tell they use quality ingredients, and the balance of everything was just right. I’m normally not even a big Cobb salad guy, but this one completely changed my mind. I would one hundred percent go back just for that. Now, I did also get my usual Caesar with chicken, because that’s my go-to whenever we go anywhere that has it. And again, really impressed. The chicken was cooked perfectly, the portion was big, and the dressing was actually great. It wasn’t too strong or too fishy like some Caesars can be. It had more of a tangy, lemony flavor with that thicker yolky texture that I really like. I ended up finishing the entire bowl, which never happens with salads for me. Overall, I was really surprised by how good everything was here. It definitely lived up to what our buddy told us, and I can totally see why it’s a local favorite. Between the portions, the flavor, and just the overall quality, it’s easily one of my new favorite deli spots in Santa Barbara. So yeah, highly, highly recommend if you’re in town. Especially if you’re not normally a salad person, trust me, this one might change that for you.

Awesome deli with huge sandwiches with great composition and quality ingredients! The service is quick and high-energy. The place is not super relaxing as it is next to a busy road, but as a great pick up lunch and or quick pit stop, it is an amazing place! A solid choice for any sandwich lover while on State Street, and great to order takeout when on lunch break from work!

During our West Coast trip in May 2024, we stumbled upon South Coast Deli in Santa Barbara by accident and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our culinary adventures! This little spot was super cute, with a cozy and inviting atmosphere that instantly made us feel welcome. The food? Absolutely delicious! We tried the BBQ chicken sandwich and it was a pure perfection! My man fell in love with it (I would say even close to as he did with me)😁 If you're ever in Santa Barbara, this is a must-visit place. We definitely recommend it, especially for sandwich lovers. A hidden gem we’re so happy we discovered!

Airstream Enlightened

A little side street eatery with huge, delicious made-to-order sandwiches and salads. Quick, easy ordering and service, reasonably priced, and they even have good coffee. I ordered the breakfast Max sandwich with onions, and although it was so good I wanted to keep eating, it was big enough to save some for lunch. It's pretty busy on the weekends, but probably the best deal on State St.

It’s my first time coming here and all I can say is that it’s already one of my favorite places to go. I got the Buffalo Chicken Sammie and it was so delicious, i paid $15 for the sandwich and a drink so it’s definitely affordable for students like me! The cashier was so nice and helpful and the place seemed like a chill place to be around, it definitely does gets busy around 11-12, but other than that the food is really good and the place seems nice! Definitely recommend coming here! 🫶🏼

These brownies need their very own review because they are so magical! The perfect mix of chocolate & nuts and only $2.50! The only downside is you can't order them online so you have to go to inside. I'll get down anytime for these tasty treats!!!

Such a good sandwich! Ordered the Chicken and Pesto. Delicious! My boyfriend had pastrami on rye and loved it. Everything tasted super fresh and handmade. Ordering from their website was super easy. They had customization options, and you could add a tip when you paid. Easy to pickup. Staff were all wearing masks and were very friendly. Next time I’m in the area, I’ll be sure to come here again!

Got the “Martys” Nutty Sandwhich. It was absolutely delicious and for $15 it was definitely worth the price. The flavor was great and the crunch of the bread was my favorite part. Half of the sandwhich is enough to fill ya up, but I finished it all regardless. It was my first time there and look forward to coming back.

Great big salads. Super fresh and tasty been ordering from here for 3 yrs now. I always get the fowl play and It is lunch for at least 3 days.. recently tried the dip your tip sandwich which was phenomenal as well the au jus was good enough to drink like a soup.

I always know the order I place is going to be ready for pickup in a reasonable amount of time and taste FANTASTIC! Even when I order blind and try a sandwich or salad for the first time South Coast never disappoints. Great vibes, Great food, Great locations!

I've been ordering lunchtime salads, and occasionally sandwiches, from South Coast for 25 years and the cost, quality and level of service has been consistently outstanding for that entire period.

Cool little place and the sandwich I had was one of the best I’ve had in a while (I got the tri tip w/ salsa). The bun was amazing and perfectly complemented the fillings. The meat was tender and flavorful. And the spicy sauce tasted great and really worked with the meat. Also, service was very fast and we had our food within a few minutes. I’ll be back.

The sandwich is here are wonderful and the staff can help you pick if you aren't quite sure what you want. I think my favorite is the vegan nom nom, but they have a few nice vegan options.

Super quick and yummy food - decent amount of seating in the back. The taste aspect of my Cajun turkey sandwich was chefs kiss but functionality wise, it was soggy and falling apart. Great place overall

I had almost finished the first half of the sandwich so I assumed all I could see in there had already revealed itself. Then, there, in the last little bite of the sandwich there was finally a little turkey. I’m just like confused honestly how there was turkey there and not in the offer half… but overall it is a good sandwich.

To my surprise this is what I spit out fortunately I detected it before it did any actual damage to my mouth. It was quite sharp and looks to maybe be a broken piece of a container maybe the tub the cream cheese comes in??

unfortunately I ordered the fowl play salad on Wed Jan 7th 2026 and I got very sick after eating it. I had to call out sick the rest of the week because I was so sick from their food. Sorry but I won't be eating here again.
