We visited this place yesterday. I found the food awesome.Kothimbir wadi,misal paav,vada misal paav and finally solkadhi all the dishes were yummy and awesome 👌.Taste was really authentic just like as if we were eating in Pune.It was really fantastic experience for us .Would recommend every food loving person to visit this place.I would definitely like this place again.

GANPATI BAPPA….. and MODAK IS HERE, and where do you get the best modak, the authentic version which is traditionally made with coconut, jaggery and rice dough covering… PURANPOLI… as tasty as it should be and a proper offering for our LORD

Highly recommend this place for authenticity of Marathi (from state of Maharashtra) dishes served here. There is room to improve— by offering other Marathi dishes that are not available elsewhere.😊 Service and ambience are excellent. Parking can be limited. Both indoor and outdoor seating is available depending on the day/time of day. Seating area is nicely designed and decorated with proper illumination. Table arrangement is functional to accommodate larger groups if needed. Tables are clean and had a jar full of water with nice looking & clean steel cups, as you would offer the first thing to any guest back in India. I had to do take-out, but will definitely update after I visit again for dining in. I ordered Daal, Rice, Bhakri and Zhunka. Impressed with their packaging for the takeout, including the attractively designed reusable bag that will also do some free marketing for them. 😀Bhakri were rolled nicely so that they didn’t break or stick. Zhunka (gram flour based vegetarian dish with texture like the breadcrumbs ‘stuffings’ used in American cooking) was delicious and tasted even better with the Bhakri (hand-rolled rice flour pancakes)— this is a must try marathi dish, and can be easily shared as a sampler for 5-6 people. Daal is more or less Daal with Phodani (Tadka). It is NOT ‘Varan’. I request them to offer ‘Varan Bhaat’ (with ghee and lime slice 😋). Daal tasted slightly like ‘Ambat Daal’. I’m guessing they added a bit of Kokum. Will explore their other offering in future visits, and then finally the namesake ‘Puranpoli’😊.

We went here on Memorial Day evening. It was full and luckily we got a table for two. We ordered Pav Bhaji, Makai Palak gravy, chapathi and Solkadhi. Everything was super tasty. Pav Bhaji was loaded with butter. Solkadhi was very refreshing and a must try. Orders were served quickly despite the crowd.

Lovely place. We really enjoyed the food. It was delicious! We ordered sabudana khichdi, misal paav, bharli vaangi, chapatis, kadai paneer, bhakris and srikhand. Bhakris and chapatis were soft and fresh, just like the rest of the food. The portion size was perfect. There is limited seating available. Free parking on site. We hope to be back in the future to try out other dishes.

This was my first time here and everything was on point! The staff is very courteous and the food did not disappoint. We ordered vada pav, puri with aamras and bhakri with zunka. Zunka was the highlight of the meal! Will definitely visit again.

Great food. Very good missal. Pav bhaji was also very good and tasty. Was not doused in butter like how other restaurants usually make it, so it was very good. Kadai paneer was also very good. The sukka aloo subzi seemed a little bland to my taste. The highlight was the puranpoli. Very soft and with the right amount of sweetness, wasn’t too sweet. We went there for thali but there wasn’t thali available on weekends. It’s available only from wed-Friday

Stopped by for lunch on a Saturday and we were able to grab a seat right away! I had been craving pav bhaji, and Puranpoli definitely satisfied me. We ordered a few different things: Kokam Sarbat (4.5/5): Sweet, tart, salty! Vada Pav (5/5): Could have been spicier, but overall very good. Pav Bhaji (5/5): Both my and my partner’s favourite. I could’ve used a bit more spice, but the flavours made up for it. Palak Paneer (4.5/5): We asked for this to be made spicy, and it ended up being a great spice level. I think I would prefer if it was a bit less creamy, but still much better than most palak paneer I’ve had. I enjoyed that it wasn’t just one homogenous paste. Garlic Naan (3/5): Naan was okay. Very fluffy, but maybe should’ve opted for chapati instead. Gulab Jamun (5/5): Delicious! Overall, we loved it. Will absolutely return to try the misal pav, sukhi batata bhaji, bharli vangi, and solkadhi.

Visited Puranpoli for lunch on a weekday. The menu is all vegetarian and classic and authentic maharashtrian food. We tried their Thali, Misal Pav, Pav Bhaji, Vada Pav, Sabudana Vada,Paneer and Naan, Modak and their signature Puranpoli for dessert. Overall, all of them tasted nice and tasty. Especially the Puranpoli which is a must try. I felt that the thali is little overpriced for the limited quantity of serving. Overall, I recommend this place to anyone who wanted to try authentic maharashtrian food.

I visited this restaurant and tried their Vada Pav and Samosa Pav – both were fresh and absolutely delicious! I also had the Puran Poli, which was soft, fresh, and perfectly authentic in taste – a real treat! However, I wouldn't recommend the Ginger Tea; it didn’t quite hit the mark for me. The Vada Pav had the perfect balance of spiciness and crunch, making it one of the best I've had in a long time. The Samosa Pav was equally impressive, with a crispy exterior and a well-seasoned filling that was incredibly satisfying. The Puran Poli was warm and flavorful, with a sweet filling that tasted just like homemade. The restaurant's ambiance was cozy and inviting, making it a great spot for a quick bite or a relaxed meal. The service was friendly and efficient, ensuring that our food arrived promptly and with a smile. Prices were reasonable, making it a great value for the quality of food we enjoyed. The cleanliness of the space was also commendable, adding to the overall positive experience. I’ll definitely be coming back to try more dishes, but I might skip the tea next time.

Puranpoli’s signature items “Puranpoli” is not at all good. We also ordered Misal Pav - it was okay, nothing special Sabudana wada - was sweet and dry from inside Overall not impressed with the food. Outside seating is very nice. I hope with the ambience of that restaurant they should also focus on cooking “tasty” food

As a person who grew up in various cities in Maharashtra (Ahmednagar, Nashik, Kolhapur, Pune, Dhule, Akola and Buldhana) I'm thoroughly disappointed in the quality and taste of the Maharashtrian food at Puranpoli. Here's a review of some items at this place: 1) Pav Bhaji: It misses the quintessential taste of a Pav Bhaji! Though Pav Bhaji is more popular in North India, even south-indian restaurants in Bay Area serve much much better Pav Bhajis than Puranpoli. 2) Misal: As a person who adores both Nashik and Pune misals, I felt hugely disappointed in the one dish that is unique (you can't get it in other non-Maharashtrian Indian restaurants). Puranpoli had a really great opportunity to introduce Bay Area residents to this amazingly delicious dish, and they let it utterly go to waste. Misal served here has very little amount of matki(moth beans) and the taste is absolutely off the mark. 3) Sabudana khichadi: Sabudana is hard, undercooked and lacks taste. 4) Vada Pav: passable, but the fried chili served on the side is a jalapeno instead of Indian/Thai chili. 5) Puranpoli: The restaurant is named after this dish which is supposed represent Maharashtrian food and culture. Alas, the restaurant fails to serve a good quality dish after which it is named. I grew up helping my mom cook Puranpolis for every occasion and celebration, and I can say with good confidence that the Puranpoli served here is subpar. I would not recommend Puranpoli. I really hope they change the way they cook and improve the taste and quality of the food they serve.
