I never liked sushi until I tried M.G!!! I love that I can get it dog paper wrapped instead of seaweed which was something that put me off of sushi. My favorite rolls are the crunchy California, Snow White, and Godzilla!! Definitely try M.G. SUSHI!!!!

Great little restaurant! The specialty rolls and the nigiri were fresh and delicious and the spice tuna was just the right amount of spices. This had become our go to sushi place!

The staff here has always been kind and inviting to me and anyone that I've brought. The sushi is ALWAYS good, and the menu is worthwhile. I'm a repeat customer even though I moved back to the bay area.

GO. There is plenty of business to keep them solvent. I would be very unhappy if their affordable exquisite top sushi became popular enough to limit my access. On second thought, perhaps if the did have more clientele they could open daily?.

Love this sushi spot! I typically get it delivered via doordash but the quality and quick service are not effected. Their baked rolls are out of this world, highly recommend.

Visiting only twice so far. The owner was really nice & was super nice to alter my order on my sushi and had been very friendly! The rolls were larger than most sushi restaurants, had a bit more rice in the rolls themselves. Good value for the bigger sushi eaters! Easy, Fast parking & pick up on Ocean St. Another visit, I had lunch for myself & friend delivered on Thursday afternoon and again totally enjoyed our delicious sushi🍣 meal!! Hats off to the owner Chris & his staff! Also I had asked for tobiko to be added on 2 of my rolls and of course he made them Super Special Looking & Even Yummier for us to Enjoy! So Great Tasting Sushi Always, Plus they Never Miss the Mark of being Very Courteous & Patient while taking our order, Great Customer Service!!

They are on the other side of town from me but they are my top 3 sushi places to eat at in Santa Cruz. The 14 piece sushi platter that comes with 6 different fish and two half roles a eggrole, miso soup, and dessert is my go to. Great prices with fresh high quality sushi is great reasons to give MG sushi a try. I usually doordash my meals but I gave them a call to let them know how I have enjoyed there food and the chef and people working there are very nice and give me wholesome family like feeling.

I really like this low-key family owned place. They have great sushi and much less crowded than other places in the area. They have a big menu with a broad selection but also do a good job on the classics. I live in the neighborhood and I like supporting them as a business.

Our dinner was delivered so fast, I thought there had to be a mistake. I have to say, in a town (that I adore) full of - I’m so sorry but it’s true - a sea of largely mediocre takeout, this dinner inspired me with HOPE. Wow wow wow what a welcome surprise. The sashimi was the freshest you can find, cut generously, and arranged beautifully. The flavors were all perfection. The California Maki roll EXACTLY the way we like it. Pardon my cheesiness, but the dinner truly elevated our day and refreshed our spirits. How often does that happen with takeout? Highly recommended 👍🏼

The sushi is great! The delivery guy was friendly, I've ordered here multiple times, and never had a complaint, I've noticed regular customers when I've picked up orders. I highly recommend the Fuji roll and the Christman roll

We love having MG Sushi as an option for delivery. The food always arrive within the time they specify. We have ordered the salmon sashimi plate every time and the fish is always sushi grade fresh and portions are large. I love the orange avocado salad, they put at least a whole avo on top of some romaine with canned mandarins and a house dressing that is perfect. We would highly recommend the tempura shrimp and anything else on them menu really. We will try some new things tonight.

Fantastic food but chefs were a little slow

We decided to grab sushi in the late afternoon on a Thursday, and apparently most sushi places are closed until 5pm. Not MG, they were open and ready for customers. The menu itself is not the easiest to navigate, maybe just layout and font style (and none of the pictured items were labeled) but after a bit of hunting we found some interesting items to try. Such as the Monk fish liver, and the tuna peperyaki, both of which were very tasty! The miso soup is good, full of flavor and very similar to what is served at Takara. We also got the MG roll, which is a bit pricey, but has a good variety of flavors and fish (kind of a better version of a typical rainbow roll) the other roll was the titanic roll, which was also good. Ambiance was ok, a little rough around the edges, but not uncomfortable for what felt like a whole in the wall sushi place. While it would not top my list of local sushi places in Santa Cruz, I will definitely come back.

Good place to eat at a low budget. Order a nice full meal for a reasonable price here. I like how the family that own it practically live in location. The little kid was cute doing his homework on the table. Definitely come and support this small town business.

Upon walking into this place, I was almost ready to leave but my friends and I had been driving for a while on the PCH and were ravenous. Low and behold, the sushi was DELIGHTFUL. Do not let the somewhat bizarre lighting and lack of people around deter you. As we were there longer, a couple people came for pick up so it seems that's more the move here, but the waiter was nice.

Sushi was good. Just wish they would have added napkins or utensils other than chop sticks. Especially for kid orders. I requested a small container of Siracha on the side and was told it Siracha is an additional charge(?). Hadnt experienced that before. All in all experience was good and sushi was good.

Good food, amazing when it came to fried and tempura shrimp food, the reason I came and will come again. The service was nice, our waiter was very polite and quick. It was a slow night when we dined in, having the staff pay more attention towards our food. Parking wasn’t bad and overall a great place to have sushi and such for dinner.

Great food, but the worst service I've experienced. It's as if the lady taking the orders on phone and delivering is trying to sabotage the business. I would rate a 5 stars for food and 1 star for service that's how I gave 3 stars.....🍻

One of the sushi chefs ran the back of his bare hand across his nose… then PICKED A TOWEL UP OFF OF THE FLOOR AND JUST CONTINUED PREPPING SUSHI. and I am not 100% certain but I am pretty sure he actually wiped a spatula looking thingy that he was using WITH THE TOWEL HE JUST PICKED UP OFF OF THE FLOOR. Please do a food safety course for all your chefs. 🙏🙏🙏

Good menu and fresh fish. The dining area felt more like a diner than a proper Japanese restaurant. Service was solid. I liked it much better than my travelling companion did.

The location looks quite old and dirty, the service was slow, and the food was only average. Sadly not enough to recommend.

If you like eating out in to go containers this place is for you. We went there and ordered and they served the food in to go containers. Even the Wasabi was in to go packets.. I ordered a salmon hand roll and couldn't even bite through the salmon. We ordered some edamame and it just seemed like it was old. The chef had a mask on but no gloves prepping the food. If I could give negative stars I would. I got food poisoning from eating here and rather than taking responsibility for it they BANNED ME from ever eating at their restaurant again. I would never recommend this dirty establishment to anyone. DO NOT EAT HERE.

Who waits 35 minutes for raw food. The child working the front is clearly not ready for the work force, very slow and scatter brained.

NO wasabi or ginger included in our delivery. SO DISAPPOINTING!!! Called x2 to ask for it to be delivered and they said they were busy. NEVER ORDERING FROM THEM AGAIN.

The only reason I go in MGSushi is because I'm being paid to. Granted the turnover rate is what you want to see from a sushi restaurant, however the restaurant itself leaves too much to be desired. The staff are nice

My partner and I just spent the night dealing with food poisoning from this place. We normally cook our own meals but we decided to order some sushi and have a nice date night. Unfortunately about 3 hours after eating our sushi we both had the same symptoms all throughout the night. It takes a serious lack of care to get food poisoning from a chef. Think twice before ordering here. We won't be back.

So we order some food for delivery through grubhub. An hour later it's not there so we call and they say it's "just a few minutes away." Okay fine. Half an hour later it's still not there so we call grubhub. They agree to take the tip off (it's 30 minutes late at that point.) The food arrives and it's not completely cold, so props there. And it's not too bad; decent value for money, but nothing exciting. But they forgot the drinks. I call them up and they agree to give us the drinks if we come and pick them up. So I drive over and now they say that because we removed the tip from the order they're not going to give us the drinks. Great. Fortunately we call grubhub and they agree to refund us the part of the order covering the drinks. But it was a half an hour late, we didn't get our drinks (though sure, we didn't pay for them) but I did have to drive over there for no reason. What would have been better: 1. Give us a reasonable estimate of when the food would arrive. If it takes 90 minutes, tell us it'll take 90 minutes. Don't tell us it'll take 45 minutes and then tell us "oh. it's just a few minutes away" for another 45 minutes. 2. If you say you're going to give us the drinks on the phone if we drive over, give us the drinks when we drive over. If you like this place, enjoy it fast, they're going to go out of business soon with customer service like this.

UPDATE: Worst customer service ever AND cold food as well!!!! Do NOT order food for pick up or delivery from here any longer. They are under new management and no longer care about their customers satisfaction. So so so disappointed! We have lost our favorite sushi place. Do not recommend in any way shape or form

The food didn’t really take long on grub hub. The food came and did not taste fresh at all. It had some weird white stuff on one that kinda had the consistency of milk. I ate it anyways and now I regret becuase Now my stomach hurts so bad. DO not recommend.

Just wasted 20 minutes setting up an online order, only to be informed during checkout that "restaurant is not currently taking orders". Same message regardless of whether pickup, delivery or dine-in options were chosen. This was on a Tuesday at 6:15pm. Way to go guys, you just lost a potential customer.

Sushi Dragon Roll tasted good but the Maki Tuna Roll was small, wished they had use Wild Salmon instead of Farmed Raised Norwegian Salmon on Dragon Roll. The Chicken Teriyaki Bowls we ordered had small portions of meat tasted precooked frozen packaged not juicy definitely dry had to ask for teriyaki sauce to make it favorable to consume. Waiter is very nice and hospitable just unfortunate with the meat quality. Although they offer new patron to order online and get $12.00 discounts with 1st orders, Nevethess WERE NOT COMING BACK !!!!!!!!!

Ordered it over 3 hours ago, 30 mins after the food was expected to be delivered called and was told food was on the way. An hour after that called again and nobody knew what happened. Called them and they just made excuses with terrible customer service. Grubhub confirmed it wasn't on their end and immediately refunded. Don't bother.
