La Central, en el corazón de Santa Elena, Yucatán, es un restaurante sencillo y acogedor que ofrece una experiencia auténtica de cocina yucateca. Comimos pollo pibil y cerdo yucateco, ambos platos llenos de sabor casero y perfectamente preparados. El ambiente es tranquilo, ideal para relajarse después de explorar la zona, y la atención fue cálida y amable, lo que hizo que la visita fuera aún más especial. Un lugar honesto, con buena comida y precios accesibles, al que sin duda volveríamos.

A hidden gem nearby the archeological sites of Uxmal and Kabah. The food is traditional and absolutely delicious. Portions are generous and the price is more than correct. I can only recommend and thank the owner for her hospitality, her kindness and delicious food. Do not miss this place!

Quite possibly the best place to eat in Santa Elena, we had the pollo pibil which was excellent and 2 very welcome super frosty beers. Immaculate bathrooms, so suspect kitchen is the same. The owner is the kindest, we missed the bus and had to wait on the highway, she took a mototaxi to check that we were OK and let us know that a bus was coming, just as we were about to give up. A truly beautiful human and great cook too. So grateful 🙏

Small nice, locally run, little restaurant in the center of the town (if you did not get it from the name). Very nice personal service and homely food. They have excellent cold beer as well, very much needed after visiting the nearby Mayan sites. The menu consist mostly of delicious traditional yucatecan food, but they also have things like tacos Dorado's and wings. They even have a good vegetarian section of the menu!

We were there just a few weeks ago. We visited Uxmal and decided to visit some of the other ruins that are close by. As it started to get dark, we decided to eat at this restaurant in Santa Elena. Wow are we glad we did. This is a very small locally owned restaurant. This is real authentic food prepared fresh by the owner and her family. The owner was very sweet and took care of us. I ordered the Sopa de Lima and it was THE BEST I had during my whole trip to Mexico (I had it 4 other times as well). Wow it was so good. For an entree we got the fajitas and the way that the meat was marinated was outstanding. Just off the charts tasty. All of the other items we had were great and the service was quick as well. I would recommend this place to anyone in the area. It is worth the stop and also worth supporting the owner who not only is nice but sure can cook.

We needed a lunch place near the Uxmal pyramids and found this lovely little restaurant. Pollo pibil is the best!!!! The lady is charming, there is wifi. What more do you need?!? ( mmmh maybe new paint on the walls…)

La Central is a real gem tucked away near the ruins of Uxmal and in the city center of a little town with a beautiful Church at the center. The food was incredibly tasty. The serving sizes were quite generous and the price for the quality of food was unbeatable. The pork fajitas were delicious. The service was just the right balance of attentive, kind, but not overbearing or pressing in anyway. You will not regret choosing to dine here!

Very nice and clean budget option. The owner is really nice. Will adapt any plate to your request. They also have a vegetarian options (the vegetable tacos are really good... more like a quesadilla with lots of veggies(including broccoli when we visited). All juices are made with bottled watered. Stop here instead of some of the most expensive options on the outskirts of town: better food,better service,and cheaper.

Si bien no es un lugar lujoso y, por mucho, no podría considerarse turístico, es un gusto para el paladar y el buen sentido de la atención. Se esmeran en hacer sentir bien al visitante y buscan, resilentemente, ofrecer lo mejor de su mesa. Probé un poc-chuc, delicioso y unos frijoles con puerco sin comparación... sabor de casa, de familia, de esos que se echan de menos cuando llegas al siguiente restaurante a cenar o almorzar...

I was just in good mood and vibes, Santa Elena is so local and cute village. But this place is total SCAM, reviews are made obviously by local friends as I checked later. It’s super expensive compared to normal mexican food and even european restaurants in Mexico. Very low quality of food. I got vegetable soup which was basically just water and boiled frozen vegetables for 70 pesos! My wife got Flautas which was only chicken with ketchup wrapped in tortillas. Interior is cute poor space, like when you get tacos for 8 pesos in somebody’s garage in Mexico City, so no problem with that. But prices and food, its obviously TRAP.

Inexpensive but that's the only advantage. Small portions, so I kept feeling hungry right after the meal. "Burritos" were just a thinnest piece of ham and cheese in a tortilla. "Puerco a la yucateca" only had some carrot as a side, paper-thin piece of pork without any actual taste. Cannot recommend this extremely poor quality place.
