Opinions de Colapasta Santa Monica
The dining experience at Colapasta is consistently exceptional with a perfect 5/5 rating. The ingredients' quality and flavors are consistently outstanding. Lasagna Classica al Ragù, Moringa Agnolotti we’re SO good. I’m eagerly anticipating my next visit. The highlight is undeniably their pasta 🍝. The owner's personal greeting and presentation of a Moringa Agnolotti dish added a wonderful touch to conclude our evening. Without a doubt, this restaurant offers some of the finest pasta I've ever tasted. 😋
What a pleasant place to have lunch. The seating area was relaxing and comfortable. Of course, we came here for its pastas and weren’t disappointed. The serving size was smaller, so we ordered 4 different pastas. The lasagna was as advertised, it was excellent. All other three pastas were very good especially the agnolotti. We’ve never had it before and it was a very pleasant surprise. Highly recommended. The only downside of our lunch was that it had sold out its bread. Other than that, we enjoyed our experience here very much. And the service was excellent as well.
Food: LOVE the food here, come here often, and never disappointed! Some of my favorites are the homemade focaccia bread(get there early for this) , Pomodoro, and Casarecce al Pesto! I would skip the salad, it was disappointing Price: decent $18 pasta with medium portions Service: the guy in the front seating people down is slow and lowkey always looks unhappy, the girl taking the orders is nice and friendly
Delicious! We came here for a work dinner and it did not disappoint! It was July when we visited, so we sat outside, which was very nice. It was midweek around 5 pm, so it wasn't busy at all. Service was also on point from the moment we arrived. Once we got our food, the table went silent from everyone enjoying their meal. My coworker got the calamarata al pomodoro, so good! I tried a few bites and loved it, very similar to mine, which was colonne di pompeii. Both were cheesy, saucy, and so tasty! The portions are very decent, and I took some to go. We also got the focaccia bread. It was thick and had a light amount of salt, which was absolutely perfect. I definitely recommend this restaurant. It's small and cute with very tasty food! Our service was quick and friendly. I will try to make my way back any time that I'm in town. Give it a try!
This place was recommended from a local and we’re so glad we tried this unpretentious neighborhood gem. Our homemade pasta dishes were perfectly seasoned and plated. The lasagna-delicious….the fontina filled pasta with truffle butter…outstanding. The salted caramel budino..rich and creamy. Our meal was worth every minute of the 30 minute wait on a rainy night. I’ll be thinking of this meal for quite some time.
Unfortunately the only time we could go here was Valentines Day. Never heard of the place so was surprised that there was a long wait. Actually 90 minutes, but we took a walk and came back and was sat down. Pasta appears to be made fresh. It reflected freshness in its taste. They DO NOT take RSVPs.
This is hands down the best pasta we have had in Los Angeles. Having traveled Italy extensively and several times, we’ve always craved pasta dishes akin to the quality and distinct flavors you’d find in each town. Colapasta absolutely nails it with a tight menu of dishes that are each a win. The atmosphere is relaxed. The chef is right beside you making fresh pasta. The staff are friendly with great menu recommendations. The prices are affordable. This restaurant is a true gem for anyone craving a great meal. The Casunziei is a must try if you’re a first timer.
The beat pasta with brown butter sauce is amazing. If you don't like beats, there are other truly wonderful dishes. I don't usually travel to Santa Monica due to traffic but this place is totally worth it. Stefano is a talented chef. Worth a visit.
We got the squid-ink and a few others and they were delicious. The squid-ink pasta was very flavorful and the texture of the bolognese noodles were awesome. If you like your noodles a bit softer than al dente, then this is the place to go. The waiters were easy to talk with and were aware of refilling our water cups. For dessert we got tiramisu and it was the perfect way to end our meal. Would definitely go again.
Food was fantastic, the pasta had a great bite to it and the flavors of each dish were layered and thoughtful. We had the Malloreddus alla Campidanese, the Squid Ink Bavette, Bucatini Aglio e Acciughe, and salted black licorice buddino for dessert. It's a great place to taste food thoughtfully, and each of the ingredients shine through in every bite without one overpowering another. Best Italian food I've had.
Absolutely delicious meal. Every dish we tried was 10/10. Seasoning was perfect for homey style dishes that weren’t too greasy or salty but were still bursting with flavor. The consistency of every sauce was perfect and every noodle was coated beautifully. Pasta was cooked to a perfect consistency with a nice bite but not at all undercooked. Every dish we had was executed perfectly and the focaccia was perfect for mopping up the delicious sauces that were left over. You can’t go wrong with the lasagna or the fusilli and we’ll be back to try their other dishes! Service was also very attentive and warm. Come early if you don’t want to wait too long as there was a line when we left!
This place is a must visit if you love pasta. They make all of their pasta by hand and the ingredients are all organic and you can really taste the difference in the food. We arrived for dinner and was quickly seated. The restaurant has a very homey feel with its decor and very inviting ambiance. The staff were all super friendly and helpful. We ordered the Moringa Agnolotti,, Calamarata al Pomodoro,, Focaccia Bread, and a bottle of Valpolicella Ripasso. The pastas were perfectly cooked and bursted with flavor. The bread was fluffy in the middle and crispy on the outside and did a great job of soaking leftover sauce from the pasta. The wine was bold and rich with hints of cherry and nuttiness. We ended with a tiramisu for our dessert which was light and fluffy. Would highly recommend this place
Wow, where do I begin? Every dish was delicious, there were 5 of us, and we went family style, we ordered a few dishes at a time, and we covered the entire menu minus 2 items. The Moringa Agnolotti dish was the winner for our table, followed by the Casunziei a close second. The Gramigna Bolognese was delicious on its own, and so was Colonne di Pompei. I mixed the sauce from Colonne di Pompei with Bolognese, and oh my my...it was Uber delicious. Hats off to the chef. He was very involved with the guest, as he would even serve certain dishes himself. The bread was exquisite. Make sure to get it so you can use it to clean the delicious sauce off your plates. Try to go as a group, and share the dishes. There are way too many delicious plates to try just one. Let's not forget that the staff who were super attentive and courteous. Best Italian food in LA by far.
The food here is so delicious and unique and best of all I feel good eating here. They have organic hand rolled pasta. Everything I had tasted delicious. Service here is incredible. Greeted by a friendly hostess and she did an incredible job explaining what’s in the food. The bread here is different. It’s very porous and light with a crunch to it. Comes with garnish you can eat. The lasagna had crispy layers of pasta so you can taste every layer you bite into. The pasta I had is bigger than the usual spaghetti pasta, plus it’s hollow inside! I enjoyed every bite of it. The corn soup is delicious with the infused flavors of onion, corn, oil, and edible flowers. There’s other stuff in it, but I can’t remember all the ingredients. I just remember enjoying my food experience there. Highly recommend this spot and I will definitely be coming back for more. I can tell the chef is not from LA just by his dishes.
Small and cute Italian restaurant with a small patio and a long line waiting. We had their famous focaccia and buratta at the bar , it was great! Wine selection excellent. Kind staff.
The food was really good. We got there around 5 and wanted 20 mins. The pasta was really good. Kids loved it because of its chewiness. The menu was small which made it really convenient to pick what you wanted. No confusion or indecisiveness m
Loved this place! Not only is the atmosphere great, the service is amazing and the recommendations from our wonderful waitress were also really good. The pasta here is out of this world. The foccacia is a must try! I would recommend the lasagna and the tiramisu. Also, great wines to choose from. Can't go wrong with this spot. Definitely lived up to our expectations.
Amazing farmers salad, so fresh, crunchy, and light dressing, perfect base before pasta. Lasagna is very delicious 🤤 There are more to try! Thank you for your food 🌸
Very good pasta really nice sause we had one dish where the chef came out and poured the sause it was really nice and made it feel super fancy our server ( girl with blackish hair) and the boy seeting us were very nice did a really good job! Food amazing service amazing and the vibe overall super good and chill! It is a first come first serve so you will have to probably wait a bit but it is worth it!
We heard about Colapasta from our Uber driver right after we landed at LAX, so that got us excited and looking forward to some good pasta—and they didn’t let us down! We got there around 7:30 on a Saturday night, so it was packed like people said, and we waited about 45 minutes. But honestly, it was so worth it. The service was quick once we got seated, the food was amazing—probably one of the best pasta dishes I’ve ever had. The vibe was nice and relaxed, and I loved how everything was presented. Definitely coming back next time I’m in Santa Monica!
A True Italian Gem in the Heart of Santa Barbara Colapasta completely exceeded our expectations — it’s one of those places where you can taste the passion in every bite. From start to finish, the experience was warm, authentic, and absolutely delicious. The homemade pasta is the star of the show: perfectly cooked, rich in flavor, and clearly made with care. Every dish felt both comforting and elevated — simple ingredients used in the best possible way. We especially appreciated the balance of the flavors and the generous, but not overwhelming, portions. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, with just the right amount of buzz. Service was attentive, friendly, and genuinely passionate about the food they’re serving. You can tell this place is run by people who really care. Colapasta is a must-visit for anyone who loves Italian food — or just wants a truly satisfying meal in Santa Barbara. Five stars all the way. We’ll absolutely be back!
The pasta is delicious. No reservations, walk in only. It can be kind of chilly because it’s open air, but they serve hot pasta. I hate cold/warm pasta. It’s the worst. The sauces are a little hard to understand if you’re not Italian or a pasta expert but they’re all tasty. The star of the show is the tiramisu though. Super creamy.
I stopped in this place today while waiting for my wife to have her nails done. I had nice glass of Pinot Nero a delicious bowl of their sweet for soup ( Zuppa di Granoturco) paired with a Farmer's Salad with Italian Dressing and ridiculously amazing Focaccia Bread on their patio. Soo soo delicious, the staff were super on point with service. I had an overall great experience!! Will definitely be back, thank you for a great experience Colapasta!
Beautiful place. Delicious food. Arrive early to avoid waiting too long. You can notice that the pasta was made there and the sauces were delicious. The bread was also good. Salads were the perfect complement. The wine was well recommended by the waiter. The decoration was very nice.
Wow! What a gem! This place is super low key. The staff was SO friendly. The food was delicious. The price was just right. We got soup, salad, 2 entrees and dessert and was only $80 + tax tip. The owner looked like he was cooking behind the counter and was serving everyone. This was exactly the kind of Italian meal we wanted. I’m sad I didn’t know this was here sooner. We will be coming back often. Also the garnishes were so cute! The plating was perfect. 10 stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was a fantastic spot. I ordered the traditional ragu lasagna and it was delicious. Also ordered an antipasti steak salad with fresh burrata; it was also really tasty. It had thin slices of dry aged beef and it went very well with the greens. I didn't try their drink selection but they had a ton of wines to choose from and if you want to bring your own bottle they have a $10 corkage fee. I'm definitely returning.
For the past five years, Cola Pasta has been one of my favorite restaurants in Los Angeles. From the moment you walk in, it feels less like a restaurant and more like you’re sitting down to eat at an Italian family’s home. Surrounded by plants and unique, mixed tableware, you immediately get a sense of the love and care coming out of the kitchen. Whether you choose a glass of their very reasonably priced Italian wines or their refreshing homemade lemonade, the drinks never disappoint. The meal starts beautifully as well — from the delicious focaccia to the soup and burrata, everything sets the tone for what’s to come. The pastas are all made and prepared by the spectacular chef and owner, and every dish feels special. The lasagna is easily in my top three of all time, and the pastas are always perfectly al dente with sauces that are thoughtful, balanced, and deeply satisfying. If you have room, don’t skip dessert — it’s delicate, memorable, and the perfect final gift for your palate. I will continue recommending and returning to Cola Pasta for as long as I’m in Los Angeles.
The beat pasta with brown butter sauce is amazing. If you don't like beats, there are other truly wonderful dishes. I don't usually travel to Santa Monica due to traffic but this place is totally worth it. Stefano is a talented chef. Worth a visit.

It's tough for me to not give this spot a 5 after having tasty food, great service, good vibes, and fair pricing for food. I came for dinner on a weekday evening and got seated very quickly, and our servers were super friendly. The vibes are also real great - super relaxed and I didn't feel weird in casual clothes. My friends got lasagna and I went with the veneto, which is a squid ink pasta. My food was delicious, but I was really hungry, and there was not much pasta on that plate (especially for the $24 price tag). However, the lasagna my friends got was cheaper, tasty, and had a good portion. A great spot, but don't come in starving if you want to be full by the end.
I really like this place! I’ve had every dish and you really can’t beat their prices for the portion sizes and quality of service and the food is better than most Italian places in LA. (Not that there’s that much good Italian here.. sorry) Is it the best place? No.. but it’s very very good, especially if you don’t want to overspend. I also get a bottle of the Nero d’Avolo, which pairs well with their food and is a steal!
It's a small place with great food... But the wait is awfully long. We were told 30-35 minutes for a table for 2 and were seated after an hour easily. We were seated on a somewhat shared table, and it took 20 more minutes for someone to wait on us. Except for this the food is delicious. The pasta is fresh. I wish the service was better
A cozy place with a nice vibe: The pasta was great! I like the classic beef Ragu lasagna the best, never had lasagna so fresh! We also tried the focaccia bread, which is harder and crispier than what we used to. The licorice pudding was amazing! I have never had that before. The pudding was so smooth. The salt really brought out the flavor.
Super cute restaurant, lots of greenery which made the outdoor area refreshing & a very chic backdrop for photos. The service was great, our waiter was attentive and friendly. I ended up ordering the squid ink pasta which was good but not the best. Flavor-wise the pasta sauce just seemed bland but I do like spicy and/or more salty foods so that may have played a part in things.. the prices are also reasonable so I did enjoy things.
A decent local spot with great presentation and food. The bread's a bit on the salty and hard side, but it's still good, especially when you dip it in the pasta sauce. The pasta was the hero dish without a doubt. The lasagna with its thin layers is super yummy too, although nothing impressive - we even compared it to what you would get at Trader Joe's. The place itself is pretty simple inside, which is actually kind of nice in its own way. Plus, the dishes they use are really cute. Heads up, they don't do reservations, so just swing by when you can.
Dined in to celebrate a birthday and was pleased with the food, service and ambience. The seasonal spicy corn soup was deliciously seasoned, had a great texture and came with fresh flowers on top that gave the soup the bite it needed. The pasta was decent, but not my favorite. I had a bite of the lasagna and realized that was the entree to pick by far. We also ordered focaccia, which was well seasoned with salt and rosemary. Service was good, but awkward as our server said no to many requests per the chef's judgement. For example, no lemons wedges or cheese on certain dishes. She snuck us a small container of cheese, but it was a bit late to make up for the "no" from earlier. We sat outside and enjoyed the summer night weather surrounded by lights and love plants in various pots.
Lasagna was the highlight of the dinner. Followed by the Squid Ink Bavette and Bresaola Arugula e Burrata. Others in our party really liked the Red Beet Ravioli in Brown Butter. The pesto was just ok. The focaccia had a good flavor, but the inside felt dry. It also had a really crunchy crust if thats your preference. Overall, decent, but there are other places in LA and southern CA that I prefer.
Went for lunch on a Saturday. No wait time. Great and friendly service. Every dish was made to order. Good pasta dishes. Excellent prices. Good spot in Santa Monica with dog friendly outdoor seatings.

The pasta was delicious, but we had to wait 15 minutes to be acknowledged, and when they did take our order, it was for everything and they “ran out of bread we run out all the time” at 7pm on a saturday. Restaurant 101: greet guests quickly, offer them some wine / drinks, even if you’re delayed on taking their order. Also offer more salad options or appetizers and we would’ve easily ordered dessert if it was offered.
Not worth the wait, there’s better pasta in LA. We showed up at 6pm on a Friday night and expected to wait for a table as they don’t take reservations, but after being told we’d be sat in 30 minutes rather waiting over an hour and watching parties of 1-2s be sat at tables for 4-5 ppl. It was clear things weren’t being done efficiently. Eventually we were sat at a table for 2 and a chair pulled up for the third person in our party. At this point the hope was still high as we had heard amazing things about the food. But alas that was not the case. Don’t get me wrong everything was just fine, but not the BEST. The fusilli was lacking enough sauce and was almost too spicy to really enjoy and the pesto was bland. Not what we were expecting to say the least. For the long time, and just okay pasta this was not it. I’m glad to see they are getting business as the rush never dulled, but I don’t foresee us coming back for more anytime soon. There is better pasta in LA.
Service here is insanely slow!!!! We were outside waiting for an hour on a Thursday night with a super disorganized waitlist and it was immediately evident why when we entered. They take orders very slowly and the food also comes out slowly. However, the pasta was amazing and almost worth the lengthy wait. Colonne was perfect spicy, acidic, and creamy with the burrata mixed in. I’d highly recommend this one, particularly with the burrata! Bucatini was like anchovy buttered noodles and tasted similar to clam but not as memorable. Their pasta is on the firmer side overall, which is my personal preference. I’d love to try the beet pasta (the brown butter smelled phenomenal) and the tiramisu! Would pass on the focaccia though — way too salty and tasted stale.
Update - May 2025 I love the food here but was very unhappy with the service my boyfriend and I experienced. There is no reservation system so it’s first come, first serve. We placed our names and were told that the wait would be an hour, so we went for a walk. We came back after 40 minutes and apparently they already called our name, so they told us that we would be next. However, they ended up letting five parties ahead of us and we ultimately waited an hour and a half just to get a table. The hostess forgot my name so we were seated ultimately last. We then waited even longer to get service at the table, so we ended up ordering close to closing time, which wasn’t ideal for anyone involved. Again, the food is delicious so I will give credit where it’s due, but I’d suggest to train the employees to have better communication and clarity with seating order. ————————— Quaint, authentic Italian restaurant just off Third St Promenade. Came here for lunch on a Monday with a coworker and got seated immediately. There’s indoor and outdoor seating and the service was quick to bring our menus. The menu itself is pretty limited as it’s focused on pastas. I liked that since it takes away the complexities of decision making. Prices ranged from $12-14. There’s a couple of antipastos but we just ordered the pastas. I got the calamarata and my coworker got the gnocchi. Both were excellent. Food came out in about 10-15 min and the server had the best Italian pronunciation of the dishes. We are outside and it felt like we were in an outdoor cafe in Europe. The plates looked small but the portions were surprisingly more filling than I thought. I loved the texture of the pasta. It’s handmade and you can tell it’s made with high quality ingredients. The sauce was evenly spread out and the cheese that was on it was so soft and light. The gnocchi was similarly quite delicious and tasted very fresh. They brought out the check quickly and brought the machine so you could pay at your table. They do accept credit card. Overall such a lovely quick lunch. I would come back here again!

Let me start by saying I came in with high expectations, not just because Colapasta boasts a Michelin-starred chef, but because the reviews would have you believe this is the gold standard of Italian dining on the Westside. Unfortunately, the experience fell short and not just by a little. The atmosphere was the first off note. While I appreciate a creative space, the heavy use of lush, tropical plants gave it more of a Caribbean bungalow vibe than anything remotely reminiscent of Italy. It felt more curated for Instagram stories than an authentic dining experience. The aesthetic just didn’t match the cuisine, which set a confused tone from the start. Now, the food. The pasta was clearly handmade and cooked well, that part I won’t knock. But the portion was surprisingly small given the price, and the flavor didn’t justify the “farm-to-table” fanfare. The ingredients tasted clean and fresh, sure, but lacking in depth, more like a culinary student flexing sourcing over flavor. For a place with this kind of reputation, it’s not unreasonable to expect your main course to wow you. Mine didn’t. The tiramisu, oddly enough, was the highlight. Rich, balanced, and legitimately excellent. But a great dessert doesn’t save a mediocre meal, especially when the main event underdelivers. Ultimately, Colapasta feels more like a shrine to the idea of thoughtful food than a place that actually delivers on it. It’s the kind of spot that wins over liberal arts majors who think “less is more” just because it comes with edible flowers. But for those of us who’ve had real Italian food, Sicilian grandma food, red sauce East Coast classics, or even just bold, rustic dishes that don’t apologize for flavor, this felt like style over substance. If you’re looking for a place to be impressed by plating and ambiance, it might be for you. If you’re looking for a great Italian meal, this just doesn’t clear the bar.
