Delicious food. The Papas Fritas was the best—really tasty and cooked to perfection. The hanger steaks were quite spicy, especially for kids, but still worth trying.
A nice Mexican lunch or dinner option in Japan-centered Sawtelle. It’s very casual on the inside both in vibe and dress code. They also have a very large bar on one side and the other side will be the restaurant where we had our dinner. I will say that it is a bit over expensive, but the food taste and quality really was great. Our server was polite, although he didn’t really check in on us aside from taking our order and bringing the check. They don’t have a parking lot so it will be metered street parking which can be difficult to find in this part of town because theneighborhood behind Sawtelle Boulevard have parking restrictions unless you have a parking pass. We decided to order a mix of items because it was our first time. We started with the Guacamole, which was great as expected, but it was very small in size. We liked the flavors, but honestly, they should’ve given a larger portion. I felt overcharged for this one. Next came the Lobster Aguachile and I thought this one was my least favorite. It should’ve had more lobster and I felt there was way more liquid than anything else. I would skip this one and not recommend. Next came the Hamachi Sashimi and this one was actually very good. It was a good sized portion and tasted fresh and light and it is a great summer dish. Next were the Chilean Salmon Tacos, and I thought these were fantastic, probably my favorite dish of the night. The sauce on top really made it and it was a perfectly cooked piece of fish. For entrées we ordered the Crispy Skin Branzino and the Papa Flautas. The Crispy Skin Branzino was fantastic, the skin was perfectly crispy, and it was a good sized portion although the salsa verde on the bottom was not my favorite. The Papas Flautas were actually terrific and the avocado ranch really made it. I would order it again just for that sauce. Overall, a really solid meal although more expensive than it should be. I would suggest stopping in if you want to have a drink while you eat or just plan to order to two items per person max.
So glad we stumbled upon this place on Instagram! We went on a Monday afternoon for lunch (love a place open on a Monday lol) and our entire experience was incredible. The atmosphere is beautiful, we were greeted by such friendly staff and the food was phenomenal!!! Such a clever fusion of cuisines. We ordered the guacamole, chicken bao buns, potato flautas and the birria tacos. Everything was a 10/10. We cannot wait to go back!! Even the cocktails were killer. We actually went for my boyfriend’s bday and they made him a custom tiki cocktail as a complimentary birthday treat!! Can we make that a thing everywhere?! 😅 Thank you Hermanito! We’ll be back!!
The best Pork katsu in a while! It was fresh, breading was thin. I didn't like the vegie not gonna lie. Overall, food and cocktail was so delicious.
Okay, this place was way better than I expected. The drinks and food were fantastic! Concept, presentation, and taste. Great execution of blending Japanese and Mexican. And I don't usually like a fusion-type situation. There were lots of vegan and vegetarian friendly options. Such a lovely place all around.
Comfy respite with delicious food. Patio well shaded with trees and wooden tables. Corn elite and chicken bao were outstanding. Tuna tartare with sweet potato chips added nice compliment. Service from Mai was friendly and efficient. Always enjoy water bottle on table. Cold beer served in the right glasses with limes. A new favorite restaurant
very good food and some dishes are surprisingly large portion. the server is also super nice! would recommend!
We walked by on our way to Somi Somi one random (taco) Tuesday night and saw this place HOPPIN’ with people, music, and lights so we knew we had to come try. We’ve now been twice and I’m itching to go again! They have created the best outdoor space with fires, heaters, and twinkle lights. It’s so cozy and welcoming. The bao buns, guacamole, & wings are incredible appetizers. The cocktails (& mocktails!) are on point. But, surprisingly, I think they claim the title of my favorite fish tacos in LA? All the tacos are good, but this is what I’m craving to return for. My photos are from June, when we went last in late November all menu items were served in disposable containers. I know that bothers some people to no end, so just a fair warning. I didn’t mind at all. The tres leches is very good, I would definitely get it the first time you go. But there are many great dessert places nearby so next time evaluate if you’d rather have fish cone soft serve from Somi Somi, cream puffs from Beard Papa, or crème brûlée crepes from millet crepes. God I love Sawtelle.

My go-to spot in the area. Great cocktails and food options. Perfect date spot, spot to take your parents, or dine with friends. It really does it all. Love their brunch and dinner options both! The ceviches, apps, tacos, all great. The only dish I didn’t love was the bao (some were too soggy to eat).
Definitely the go-to bar and restaurant on Sawtelle. Good drinks, good atmosphere, good enough food. Sort of Japanese-Mexican fusion but heavily influenced by Nobu's more Peruvian dishes. Great place to hang, though it's desperately missing Elias at the front door. The hamachi sashimi crushes and the lobster ceviche is great on the weekends.
I enjoyed my visit to Hermanito. The crispy fish taco with slaw was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy a meal. The service was friendly but could have been a bit more attentive, which is why I didn’t give a full 5 stars. Overall, a solid experience with delicious food—I’d definitely come back and try more of the menu!
The food was great, everything we ordered was very tasty. The drinks are also very good. BUT the portions are pretty small, and on the pricey side.
trendy little place with friendly service, interesting drinks and food options but otherwise it was a bit dissapointing and pricey for the portions. nothing really stood out to me as a reason to go back unfortunately other than the vibe. we had extra drinks and wrong food come to us. we asked for salsa about 3 times and didn't get it for 10 minutes.

I had a great dinner with friends here recently. The restaurant is inviting, vibrant, and just all around enjoyable. Their menu is a fusion of Japanese and Mexican food. I liked their take on traditional dishes like the bao buns and tacos. Everything we ordered tasted good!

I took my family here at my daughter's request. It was her birthday. She said she heard it was good and wanted to try it. Review: Typical, trendy place, in a popular location on Sawtelle (New Japantown in WLA.) Overpriced food and drinks. No calamari and some other favorites. Yes, they "ran out" of calamari at 630pm? I've had better street tacos than their carnitas tacos and birria tacos, and for 1/3 of what they are charging. The alcoholic drinks were typically priced for newer restaurants and were "just ok." But it's a cool hangout for a lot of people, including my daughter. Maybe I'm not cool. I'd rather go to Paco's Tacos for better food, more authentic Mexican, better drinks and half the price. That's where I will be going on my birthday.

Cute little hipster restaurant. Nice outdoor area with heaters so made sitting outside bearable. The margaritas were strong and flavorful. The guacamole was ok. It needed more flavor. The dishes were too small for the price. A friend had a $20 small salad. I paid $36 for a tiny piece of sea bass with 5 cucumbers and a tiny cup of rice. Im bougie but this place was too hipster and overpriced for me. Not worth the price!
We visited the Sawtelle location so this is for this location only. We were greeted by the host who was very nice and who accommodated the large group. They had no coffee to serve and no ingredients for an old fashion. Bartender had no personality and didn’t have alternatives or offered to make anything, rather he was more concerned that I wasn’t at my table to order my drink. The waffle that came with a banana was not ripe but green. Bathroom was gross 🤮 and not kept up. Food was decent and ambiance was good. Prices for some items were pretty pricey.
They accommodated 10 of us on their patio so that was great! It was rainy and cold so we immediately wanted to try one of their coffees on their menu but they said they ran out of coffee..🙄. So then we wanted to order a signature drink and the not so friendly bartender said they also ran out of one of their ingredients, so we gave up. Food was good but too expensive though.

We went for lunch today. Appparently they do not have a lunch menu at 2pm on a Saturday. The items were very limited unless you wanted breakfast. We ordered the carnitas tacos & steak tacos. The pork was definitely a day old. It was so dry it was like eating crispy beef jerky with beyond zero moisture. The steak was ok. I had a cocktail & I can say I do not think there was any alcohol in the drink. I am a lightweight & my husband does not drink & we both agreed very little to none alcohol in it. The prices they charge they need to reevaluate the quality of their food & make sure their is alcohol in their 16.00 drink.
I really wanted to like this place. It was a cold rainy night and it was such a cozy atmosphere. I had the strip steak and calamari. It was so salty it was nearly inedible. The tuna tartare was very good. Good service.
I will start by saying they don't have a physical menu only the QR Bs. The lighting is also really bad, I understand the concept they are going for but you cant even see your plate this is nonsense. Yes you have to be able to see what you ingesting! Talking about ingesting the food is not awesome I would even call it mediocre, thw portions are small and the almost no protein. I ordered the lobster ceviche and it was a samll plate with some tomatoes and some other ingredients. I Counted only 8 very small lobster cubes like 1/2 cm for the entire "ceviche". And 3 tostadas just because! And this isn't a fancy restaurant even if it was they are more generous and way better places that I been in Beverly,Malibu etc. This isn't it. Why would you put yourself in this situation. A smart person wouldn't. Theres plenty of better options around. Last time eating here Also they are in a rush to kick you out of the table as soon as you finish your plate. Total price for a "ceviche " and a Margarita. $56 and they had the audacity to ask for a tip 😂

Came here on 09/06. The atmosphere here is very aesthetic, and the food runners and host were friendly. Unfortunately our experience with service was disappointing. Our waitress was inattentive. After taking our drink orders, it took 20 minutes before she returned to take our food order. Once placed, dishes came out slowly and one by one. We even received a second refill of our appetizer chips before our salad arrived, which shouldn’t take long to prepare. When it came time to pay, she handed us the card reader but then yanked it out of my partner’s hand as soon as the transaction was complete in a way that felt rushed and aggressive. It left a very negative impression, to the point that we regretted having to tip at all. What seemed to be the manager was also present but came across as distant and disengaged while walking the floor, which did not help the atmosphere of hospitality.
