Great great dogs. And the lemonade is just like back in the day when we drank lemonade and not booze.
I have loved it since I was a kid .my favourite is cheese on a stick and a large cherry lemonade.... Yuuummmm!!
A classic beach joint! Order a corn dog and a lemonade and enjoy the beautiful Santa Monica coast!
Nothing beats a corndog on the beach. They also have cheesedog options for the vegetarians.
Classic place that has hot dogs and lemonade, and they even have veggie dogs now!
Nothing tastes better than that lemonade on a beach day or a cheese on a stick!
Nice lemonade and hotdog, good for a quick snack on the go.
Excellent location facing the beautiful seaside
Great corn dogs! They also have a VEGGIE option!
Small location no sitting area however the beach is right behind u:)
Really delicious. Currently closed as due to renovations as of this posting.
Not as good as it used to be... mustard in packets..they give you one per corn dog. If you ask for more they make you feel bad.
I always have to stop to pick up some food on a stick and fresh lemonade. Tastes like it should. Usually pretty quick
I want to say this is the best one I've been to, the dogs were perfect. And I love the lemonade original
Such amazing food! My favorite is Cheese on a stick! Sad that they are no longer available where I live.
It is simply the best lemonade in the known universe!!!! MULTIPLY THAT X 2 WHEN YOUR ROLLERBLADING!!!!
Great place. Always love hot dog on a stick. Cool to see the original one. Food tasted great. They were out of ketchup due to national shortage of it.
The batter on my corndog is nice and thick crispy! The cherry lemonade always has extra cherry. Just the way I like it!
Beef, Turkey, and Veggie hot dogs get dipped into batter when you order. All tasty! There are regular, blueberry, and cherry lemonade options, plus fries and funnel cake sticks!
It's a good corn dog, not much parking as it's by the beach but we didn't have a problem parking quick and running over to get one fast. Would recommend if you're looking for a corn dog
This is a great place and my favorite lemonade is here some of the best I've ever had, plus kids love this place trust they'll devour at least 2.......fries are ok....
In (2002) I met actress Rene Zellweger at THIS corn dog stand and happily bought her a corndog. She was filming a 'Pepsi' commercial over on the pier.
Hodo gonna stick is not open it’s closed but I put it on Google maps anyway
I came from the East Coast with the expressed goal of eating here. While I didn't order the "original" turkey dog, and went with beef, I don't regret the choice. I will suggest being ready to swat a seagull or eight after you receive your food. They want a corndog just as bad as you do.
Delicious corn dogs! Lemonade is not impressive, but not sugary either. One of the best fast food style fries in town! Great spot for cute family photos. There are no patios or chairs so the area is really clean, too.
Not a lot of places to sit; prepare and bring a blanket and pop a squat on the sand.. Definitely food that is eatable, hot and you can walk on the path and enjoy a hot dog on a stick.
Yes it’s finally open! Went on opening day and it was so yummy yummy. Yes it’s pricy. But it’s always been. Get the beach bundle for 28. You get 4 dogs and one fry. The fries are super delicious! Crispy and fresh with seasoning salt. Tastes like Cajun salt. The iced lemonades are also very tasty Will for sure be a treat on those hot days of summer!
I came here when visiting Los Angeles, staying near Venice Beach. I got a beef corn dog and a large lemonade. The large (50¢ more) lemonade comes in a big plastic cup and you get $3 refills if you bring the cup back. The lemonade was amazing, really refreshing and lemony but had the perfect balance of sharpness to sweetness. I also came back the next day and had a Cherry lemonade which was also really good but only subtly cherry flavoured. I got a beef corn dog one day and a turkey the next, and both were really good, nice and crisp on the outside, but soft and sweet on the inside with a nice juicy hot dog in the centre. They are cooked to order, so you will usually have a few minute wait even if there isn't a queue, but it is definitely worth getting a fresh one from here than a half warm dry corn dog from other places. Definitely fit this in to your plans if you are visiting Venice beach and Santa Monica Pier.
If you're looking for a bit of "historical" nostalgia that is very U.S. of A., as well as some great 'gram pictures, then you've got to check out Hot Dog on a Stick at this location! The food is straightforward, the lemonade good, but the setting is great. Located steps from the sand, people watching here is top notch, as is the feel of "Americana". This is more of a stand than a restaurant, so order, walk over to the beach or find a bench, chow and relax! Note that glove laws in L.A. don't currently require food handlers to wear them, so don't be freaked out if a few, one, or none of the employees are using them. Enjoy the setting, the novel idea of the food, and the colorful uniforms!
This is my favorite place to eat. My parents would bring me here since I was a kid. Many times on my birthday, friends would ask to take me to eat, and this is the only place I want to come to on my birthday since it brings back so many memories of my childhood. This is the original Hot Dog On A Stick. The very first one since they opened. This is the first Hot Dog on a Stick store opened at the original Muscle Beach location next to the Santa Monica Pier in Santa Monica, California, in 1946, serving lemonade and corn dogs on sticks to people on the beach.
On the boardwalk near Santa Monica pier. Great stop since it’s a standalone building right near the water. You could never go wrong with melted cheese on a stick. Quench your thirst with the lemonade.
For $12 you can get a box of fries, funnel cake fries, 2 corn dogs and a large lemonade! If you’re super hungry you can eat this on your own and be satisfied. Otherwise, share with a friend and enjoy the beautiful Santa Monica views. Can’t beat views like this! Located literally on the boardwalk, hard to miss. The employees were super friendly - they made our order fresh - including the fries! It takes about 7 minutes but it’s so worth it. Eating my box brought out my inner child. They have delicious tasting hotdogs with the perfect kind of corn meal - balanced half sweet half salty. Their fries are nice and crunchy. And yes their funnel cake fries were hard to stop eating!!
This place is legit, made a pit stop here on my extended ride from Culver City. Corn dog, funnel fries and lemonade - hit the spot. One of the best corn dogs I’ve had, funnel fries and lemonade also notable. Essentially on the beach and right off the pier. Awesome location- paid $20 for everything
You have to hit this spot if you come as a family! Great staff lovely spot, can be a line but wait for it, so worth it! The funnel fries are deliciously amazing. Lemonade is great and sweet but perfect balance with sour! Love this spot cant wait till i come back to LA and ill be back for the lemonade! P.s. get a large you will need it.
Got hot cheeto turkey dogs and they were delicious. Pricey but it's pretty fresh! They dip the hotdogs in batter and fry immediately right after you order. The lemonade is good too! Not too tart or too sweet. Was really tempted to get a boat of 4 different corn dogs and fries for $28 but I was low on cash. Definitely next time! Wouldn't hesitate.
Stopped by for a quick bite. Visiting from out of town. Some of the best corn dogs we’ve ever tried. Dipped & cooked to order. Holy fantastic!

We have stopped by this spot once three years ago and again today. I rarely eat a corn dog but this is the place to have one. So good! The staff working this location is stellar! So polite very friendly and professional.
This morning I decided to take my pup for a nostalgic stroll on ocean front walk when I stopped at Hotdog on a stick for a quick bite, I was greeted by Ilona who was so kind and friendly even offering to take a picture of me and my pup in front of the store. Ilona truly went above and beyond, my meal was so delicious. I definitely recommend stopping by!!🌭🍋🏖️
I had such a great experience at Hot Dog on a Stick thanks to Ilona, the assistant manager. She is incredibly kind, welcoming, and professional. You can tell she genuinely cares about customers and takes pride in her work. Her positive attitude and great service really stood out and made the visit even better. Hot Dog on a Stick is lucky to have someone like he, she definitely makes a difference!

Good hot dogs on a stick and fried cheese on a stick. I got the proper jack cheese on a stick and it was delicious!!
Great fast service. And fabulous corn dog and Lemonade
This is another must visit spot when you’re in Southern California. Lots of history too!
Does what it says on the tin. Best corn dogs and lemonade!
A favorite every time I visit LA. A must have...cheese on a stick! 😋
One of the best corn dog stand and a must-try fresh lemonade (lite, no sugar) !
Corn dogs are juicy and delicious. Lemonade is neither overly sugary nor overly tart and harks back to the lemonade of childhood. Prices are quite high for what is offered.
a fading reflection of 1970...the atmosphere, of course, and the teenagers squishin the lemons, and clientele have changed so very much, but not the uniforms, the machines, or the cheese (and DOGS!) on the sticks. i think they still use the same sticks... some may say, "over-priced", and you will read others', "unsanitary", but you'll see me going out of my way to visit SM each trip to SoCal. from me, nostalgia can get a fourth star. save me a ticket for the Merry-Go-Round, Lulu!
Good location, but not much to sit around. Got the typical dog and lemonade. I liked it. Price was mildly higher, but it is right there by the Pier.
Super pricey $50 for three people
This place is great, but if you're obese like me, people will stare at you for eating the food here. You know what I'm talking about. Because this stand is out in the open, you can't avoid the stares. When I get bariatric surgery, maybe this place will be more comfortable, but as is, it's pretty hard to enjoy if you're obese.
I met my friends at a mini reunion on Santa Monica Pier. Since hot dog on a stick was right there we ate there. Hot dog on a stick is like carnival food but healthier! The only corn dog that didn't get me sick. Tyra Banks said ti was her first job. The movie Charlie's angels had a scene there.
Deep fried junk food madness in the form of a breaded hot dog on a stick with sugary lemonade and it IS what it IS. I would give it 1 because I hate this kind of food but my son's friend and my son LOVE IT and would give it a 10. So I am basing my review on their happiness factor....oh and I am a bit of a fool for fries so there's that.
I’ve loved this place ever since I was a kid! I was a little surprised at the prices these days though. I got two corndogs and two cheese sticks with a lemonade and it came to $40! But since it’s such a rare tree I decided to splurge.
It's been a long time to have Hot Dog on a Stick. I liked the hot dog but the lemonade was not as good as I remembered. Overall, I'm glad that I came here.
I went here many years ago. I was dying for the day to come from the east coast back! Made fresh in front of you, and they are awesome. Worth trying again and again.

Memories can set high expectations. Still, great to see this place again after umpteen million years.
Expensive for a quick order place. Go here or go to a restaurant and spend the same
Landmark! Customer service was very blah. Fries were ok and my veggie dog was fine. Lemonade was fire as usual.....
More expensive than most HDOAS franchises, but on par with other pier food options. Faster than most pier food options. $30 for the basic bundle (feeds 2). Closes when raining.
I would say they stick to their recipe. I ordered hot dog on stick. Due to the long line what you'll get is freshly made but for some reason wasn't warm. It cost $4.50 and large size lemonade $5. Should try anyway
Daughter chose this as our spot to try for the month. Great choice! Smaller than expected, but wonderful service, clean, and excellent food made with fresh ingredients. Who would have thought- sushi toppings on a hot dog? And those sushi tater tots...mmm mmm good. We will definitely return!
The frozen lemonade was like tiny pellet ice. The lemonade was syrupy tasting. The fries & corn dog were good.

Way too little mediocre food for entirely too much money. I do NOT RECOMMEND.
Portions are small.. I spent $20 on myself and still hungry. Hot dogs are the cheap kind.
I use to LOVE Hot Dog on a stick. How hard is it to make good lemonade? Very expensive and the food wasn't that good. Waste of money.
Was tasty and fun. Now it's very bland and expensive. Sad to see. I won't be eating there again.
Food was good and consistent 1 employee argues when I told her to refill the ketchup and napkins. It was strange. HOWEVER only 1 employee out 4 handling food was wearing gloves The Corn Dog maker, fries maker, and batter maker had no gloves But the lemonade maker did What is wrong with that picture?
Fancy location i expected better. They need to try Korean Corn dogs to learn how to make them. I got a cheetos burnt small overprived $8 wrapped sausage. I did like the lemonade thoug but the hot dog worth is a $1. Im not coming back. $15 for both. Cheeez good luck taking your kids for a hot dog ina stick just do them ar home. Not worth it.
I wouldn't rush back. We ordered 1 fry and 1 funnel cake fry and paid $14+ all to find out that they stuff the bottom of the containers with a wad of wax paper so they can give you less. Go somewhere else.

Why wouldn't you just call it a corn dog? This place had a lot of homeless folks hanging around and begging.
Lady at front window who goes by kassy was extremely rude and inconsiderate, being super disrespectful and impatient not caring for her customers, her behavior should not be tolerated anywhere
If you like crippling food poisoning then this is the place for you. My sister and I ate here on 12/7/19 and both ended up with the worst food poisoning imaginable. I will spare you the details but please avoid.
Hot dogs are overpriced! The service is horrible... they dont use gloves! I ewww . I was waiting for my order for about 25 minutes. DON'T COME HERE! IF I COULD I WOULD GIVE ZERO STARS!
Our actual meal was fine but our bikes got stolen right out front from the bike rack after we turned our heads to pay for our order and the cops didn’t care or help at all.. bummer
Closed at 2:40 on Wednesday even though their hours on their window say they’re open and their google maps profile says open
Rude customer service and it seems as if they were out of every item on their menu.
Girl working had some loud inappropriate music playing also had a horrible attitude.
Absolute worst experience. I spent $21 for some very watered down lemonade, cold fries and funnel sticks that tasted like cardboard with powdered sugar drenched on them. Terrible quality food, definitely could build something way better in that location
Waited 30 minutes standing by the door they never called our name and when politely asked, she was very rude and shut the door in our faces. The chicken nuggets were horrible. Employees need to learn customer service, learn how to be polite. ZERO STARS
I was asking for a napkin as she was closing. She shouted at me multiple times “WE ARE CLOSED” in a nasty tone to a paying customer. I asked for a napkin so I can wipe my seat. She was at the window WITH NAPKINS INFRONT OF HER. PLEASE FIRE THIS LADY. This was 12/08/24 at 6-7
Sad story. Two girls working the shift let us know it was closed. I check the time and it’s 5:55pm. Had no idea they closed at 6pm. I get it, they’re tired but from my understanding from working fast food in the past, you take orders until actual closing time. It was 5:55pm on February 20th. They had no mercy.
Not as good like it used to be. Quality went down. My corn dog was very oily and not crispy on the outside. When I mentioned this to an employee she told me in a rude voice that I got what I paid for. Since I have to pay for this overpriced corn dog I'll go elsewhere and get something better for the same price.
I ordered a large dragon fruit frozen lemonade that was nearly $11.00 and was the only reason I stopped here and only after they took my money did they let me know their machine was broken. Bait and switch . Not cool at all. Total waste of money.
Local beach resident excited to see the revamping and reopening of hot dog on a stick for my craving of the cheese stick. Went by on the weekend and got a cheese stick and a medium lemonade. The lemonade tasted like water so I said something to the cashier. He gave me some excuse about lemons being short and that's the way it's supposed to be. I said okay all good and just wrote it off as a waste of $7.50 for a glass of barely flavored water. I then watched through the windows as all of the employees began to taste the lemonade one by one, and in mutual agreement that it tasted like water, watched them drain the entire tank and remix it properly. You'd expect they'd immediately reach out to me standing there to apologize, thank me for bringing it to their attention, and replace the lemonade. Instead they tried to hide it from me so they didn't have to admit fault and replace the lemonade! So I went to the window and said if you're now agreeing with me and draining the lemonade I expect you're going to replace it for me, right? Naturally being caught red-handed, the girl said yes. So I waited as they remixed the lemonade. Then the manager comes to the window when they're done refilling the tank, and says to me, since you already drank half (of the water) I'm only going to fill half of the cup with lemonade! Needless to say I nearly fell off my feet. I gave the $7.50 cup of now half water and half lemonade back to them and left never to return. Disgusting service and attitude.
Charged me a dollar for a single packet of hot sauce after purchasing.
They don’t fresh squeeze the lemons anymore. The prices are also much higher, and the “lemonade” is so chock full of sweetener that it’s undrinkable (and they won’t give you less sugar by any means, on account of not actually fresh squeezing their stuff anymore). $50 for three dogs and small drinks. Might be the biggest grift on the Pier nowadays, which is saying something!
Hot dog on a stick is always good! We came to order and the staff was incredibly rude. They had signs on the windows that said “we’ll be right back”, but they were inside the store looking at us. I watched about 10 people get turned away and I was yelled at when I went to the window!
I experienced racism at its finest. The workers are extremely disrespectful towards Black Customers, And the manager is just as worse. Along with them not being attentive to the customers. They allow for people to cut the line then treat you as if you don’t exist. They don’t pay attention to very basic instructions. They cater to only their non black customers only.
I’ve never written a review but I was just treated so poorly. It almost comical. It’s 5:50pm and there is a sign in the door that says “be back soon” when they close at 6pm. I was just checking to see when they would be back and I heard the woman through the window say, “don’t f’in look at her, the sign is on the window, and if she can’t see that, that’s her problem!” Hahaha like what?! If you want to close shop early that’s fine, but don’t be disrespectful.
We visited this location on 07/25/2024 at about 5:30pm. The girl at the register that took my order was EXTREMELY rude. I ordered one beef corn dog and that was it….30 minutes later I was standing at the pick up window still waiting for my order. There was not one single customer ahead of me or behind me. I saw the man inside pull my corn dog out of the fryer and it was completely burnt and they started laughing. He then put a new corn dog in and I had to wait even longer. Not one time did either of them apologize or even acknowledge me as they stood there playing on their phones for the 30 minutes I waited for my food. I went back up to the window after receiving my food to ask for a manager contact info but she literally stood there and absolutely refused to assist me or even open the window. I don’t understand why these people were so rude to me…I was extremely polite to them when placing my very simple order. I will be posting her picture here. Her name is Kassy aka Kassandra. I will be posting this on every media platform that I can and I will be contacting corporate with her name and photo. This is a DISGUSTING human-being.
Horrible customer service. Quite frankly seemingly unsanitary; one girl was picking something out of her co workers hair before proceeding to dip our hot dog into the batter. No use of sink to wash their hands, no gloves & long acrylic fingernails.

$16.75 for one corndog and one small drink. Even the overpriced Tito's Tacos one town over doesn't dare to ripoff customers so badly. No other Hotdog on a Stick location charges this much because they would never survive in those neighrhoods. No one is stupid enough to pay such prices. But it seems the company believes that Santa Monica tourists are gullible. Folks, save your money and stay away! Don't be ripped off.
I arrived at 6:53pm (the sign says it closes at 7pm) hoping to be served but the girl behind the window just said ‘Closed!’ and would not elaborate. When I said ‘But it’s not 7pm yet’, she just kept saying ‘Closed!’ and walked away. Her manner was incredibly rude and dismissive and I certainly won’t be rushing back to come here again. If you say you are open until 7pm, you stay open until then and you don’t close before - no excuses!
Everything was going perfectly on our trip from Boston to California with my two kids until a few hours before our flight home, when everything was ruined. We had heard so many good things about California, but we ended our trip feeling totally disappointed. On the last day, just a few hours before our flight, six of my family members went to the Santa Monica Pier “Pacific Park.” We parked our van near a shop near this shop for only two hours for $2. But when we returned, we found out we had been robbed. They took $150 cash and two Louis Vuitton bags, including valuable items and clothes worth around $6,500. We noticed there were two cameras in the that shop nearby, so I asked the worker if we could see the footage. He refused immediately and told us to call the police. We called and waited for over 45 minutes. I called three times, and every time they gave the same answer: “If someone picks up your location, they’ll come, but we can’t give a time frame.” It was incredibly frustrating, especially for my father, who is a heart patient. At the same time, we had to return the rental van and make it to the airport. We waited and waited, but no one ever came to help. In the end, we had to leave sad, helpless, and disappointed. I don’t know what the next step is, but all I know is that we lost… we truly lost. I request Santa Monica police to have more active patrols in that area. I’ve heard incidents like this happen all the time, yet nothing changes unless someone is physically harmed. It’s really disturbing, and I am deeply disappointed.
