Opinions de The Cloverfield Santa Monica
Great food, ambiance and service! This location right next to the Santa Monica airport is perfect for an outdoor meal and relaxing afternoon drinks. Generally perfect weather means it’s the place to come grab a bit while taking advantage of the cool neighborhood vibes.
I took a bunch of coworkers here for a work dinner, which can easily be a recipe for disaster in the best of circumstances. The server took every challenge in stride and did a great job. The huge outdoor patio seating area is great for large or small groups, and the food and drinks were pretty great too.
Pretty cool place. Glad they had an indoor option.
It was my first visit. We had brunch there on a Sunday for my sister's birthday. There's an outdoor area that we, surprisingly, had to ourselves. We got to bump our own jams, chill and socialize. Food came out on time for a party of ten and was really good. I had the salmon burger and my wife had the fried chicken sandwich. It's not a super-expensive menu but they've got a nice selection of options. They knocked it out of the park and made my sister's birthday that much more memorable.
Excellent atmosphere - a great place to bring friends and family. The outdoor seating is fantastic during the summer. Quick and friendly service. Highly recommend the nachos and hummus to share with the table.
Food was great. The vibe was fantastic! This was first time in the restaurant. We will definitely be back for more. Outside seating is available and recommended. Desserts were fantastic. Get the churro ice cream and tiramisu.
Loved the ambience! Food was delicious! I had the chicken chopped salad, my sister the burger, and friend the pizza. We all enjoyed our choices. The service was great! Loved that they had outdoor dining! It was kid and dog friendly. I am definitely planning to go back!
Was there on event in August 2025 Food very good! Staff was friendly and attentive I would recommend.
I had a lovely time at The Cloverfield. We had a 7:00 reservation for outside and the host made sure to hunt us the warmest table as it was a bit chilly and he got us the perfect corner table with a great view of a colorful sunset. Drinks: The gin and tonic pick and choose menu was fantastic with a wide selection of great gins and tonics from around the world. Food: The food was really good, which was a surprise for us as we chose this because of the ambience we saw one time as we drove by and the gin and tonic menu. My girlfriend and I split the guacamole and chips which was really fresh and plentiful. She got the fish tacos for an entree and I got the veggie burger with sweet potato fries which we both really enjoyed too. I would say the menu could be expanded a bit, especially when it comes to vegetarian and vegan options as they were a bit limited. Overall, I would recommend checking this out. The inside looked fun the outdoor ambience was a real selling point so I recommend a patio table.
It's been a while since I came here but I had a great lunch recently at The Cloverfield. The food was solid, especially the fish tacos I ordered, and it's got great outdoor seating with tables, so kid and dog friendly. Our server, May, was really sweet and kind. I ended up chatting with her about our 'Airport 2 Park' organization, and she was genuinely interested and engaged. If anyone is interested in supporting the airport becoming a park, feel free to reach out or join the mailing list :)
I was out running and came by this place cutting through the airport. Super nice outdoor setting with a view of the sky, the old airport and the new soccer fields. The street is very quiet because it's inside the airport (although it does go through), and so it's really a lovely atmosphere. We had two simple, tasty burgers and really enjoyed being there. Great service. We'll be back. Nice to see the airport property being re-used in such a nice way.
Tons of choices for all palates and the kids were also happy. Great tomato basil soup, mac n cheese, salmon burger freshly ground, skinny fries.
I quite liked The Cloverfield. Farm to table freshness. Grazed some appetizers to sample a variety of menu items. The Tuna Tostadas so good, so fresh and flavorful. Shared guacamole, fried fish tacos for my friend and the Skinny Fries. The owner stopped by our table to say hello. The atmosphere is entertaining ~ fun, creative pieces of art and the music put a smile on my face. Excellent service. Very warm, friendly sort of vibe that makes you feel so welcomed to be there and leaves you wanting to return. Soon!
Wonderful experience.... from the food to the outdoor setting and service! Loved that they take great care for social distancing and no-touch ordering (no menu! You order on your phone with a QR code.... very cool!) Can’t wait until they put the outdoor bar in! Food was fantastic and a killer Bloody Mary but boy is it spicy! Will be going back soon.
Had a sisters lunch here. Had a gourmet cheeseburger with sweet potato fries and a refreshing adult beverage. The food is off the chain and the only thing equal was our server. I wish I had done this review sooner because I could better describe things. I'll go back soon because it was so good and update this and add pictures. Highly recommend this place.
Came here to meet a friend for long overdue drinks. We still wanted to find a place where we could sit outside and I've wanted to come here forever so we tried it out. We only got a few apps to share but they were all very good, drinks were good and their patio is awesome! Lots of room so you can still socially distance as desired while still going out for food and drink. Parking in the back was free and easy too.
Our expectations weren't high, but this place really turned out to be a Gem, the only thing is the service was questionable. Partly because you have that whole youth influence, the servers were young and experienced and didn't really know how to cater to the needs of their customers. But we kind of set them straight. And everything went really well.
Nestled next to the Santa Monica airport tarmac is a great indoor and fun outdoor experience. The staff is kind and the dining areas are clean. They can even charge your phone if you ask nicely. My recommendation is the soup of the day and sharing 4 of their incredible tacos. Great bartenders work here and can hook you up with some beautifully strong drinks which are a great value. There is talk about the airport becoming a massive park and The Cloverfield could possibly become the center of this incredible new entity. Also, special room with bar is avail in the back perfect for celebrations! We can't wait to have our cast party here.
Had a relaxing family dinner at the Cloverfield last night and we were pleasantly surprised by a group of acapella carolers in festive attire that were going table to table taking requests. It was awesome!
Atmosphere: 5/5. We sat outside. There were lots of plants, the ground was packed dirt, the furniture was wood and metal. It was a very natural/rustic vibe. And there were string lights and nice music (Lauryn Hill, etc)! Bucatini: 4/5 (very tasty) No issues with the server or the service.
Came from out of town and was looking for a nice little place to have dinner. This place well exceeded our expectations. The food and atmosphere was amazing and the music was phenomenal. Will definitely come back when we’re in town.
This place can get crowded and still feel like a week kept secret. Great service, local and imported craft beer menu, and everything on the extensive menu is great. Their burger is slept on.
Had a dog and they provided a treat for him. We've been there three times with 3 to 6 customers. Always feel welcome. Waiters always respectful.
Great & quick service, tasty food, and outdoor heaters! Would return.
Tasty food with a great vibe right next to the airport. Spacious patio is the place to be. You can bring your dog to the patio, too. Has a trendy vibe while still being accessible and casual. The hummus is amazing—they make it in house, along with the pita. Overall, a great spot for a meal, a larger party, or a date.
Great place tucked down by the SM airport. I will tell you this - order the nachos. They show up immediately and are quite possibly the finest I have ever had. I have been here four times and have never eaten anything else. Great for sharing. Friends have also had other things and have raved at the table as we throttled nachos so there is no wrong way to go. Staff is fantastic and friendly, heat lamps everywhere - it's a fantastic and somehow large yet intimate spot. Highly recommend.
Lovely spot with a great menu! Would eat here again if I were in the area.
Great place for brunch, lunch or dinner. Spacious, well-maintained, excellent vibes. Plenty of outdoor seating, cute coffee/wine bar indoors. Family-friendly, also good for date night. Go for happy hour, get the guacamole + Chinese chicken salad, stay for sunset!
If you’re like me, you’ve driven past The Cloverfield many times, always thinking that you need a to go there someday. Well, this is your sign - go to The Cloverfield next to the Santa Monica Airport, just off Centinela! Seating & Parking: They have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating options, with great atmosphere at both. We made a reservation off the Resy app. They have a parking lot right behind the restaurant. Staff: The staff couldn’t have been more friendly or helpful! Thank you to Carlos for the extras special hospitality. Drinks: They have a great wine menu. The wine we all loved the most was So Fresh by Stolpman, 'Love You Bunches', Slightly Fizzy, Chilled Carbonic Sangiovese from Santa Barbara, 2020 vintage ($47) @stolpmanvineyards Food: They have different menus for brunch, lunch, happy hour, & dinner. From the dinner menu, I recommend the Blackened Salmon ($30) with parsnip puree, olive-caper gremolata, charred lemon, & pea shoots.
The chicken pot pie was great. My son had the Pepperoni Pizza and devour the whole thing. The outside atmosphere was great and able to tall to everyone with out yelling.
Been meaning to stop by for awhile as I live close. Had the barbacoa nachos with homemade cheese sauce and pico. It tasted fresh and went well with the HH Paloma. Cocktail drinks were $10. Super tasty and great prices. Preferred manhattan over Paloma. Love all the outdoor space! Will definitely be back.
Family friendly spot near the park. Lots of high chairs, easy parking, and simple food.
I came here on mother's Day and they had live performances it was very cute. The food was good and the drinks were also pretty good. I did come on a separate day with no live music and it was actually pretty dead which I wasn't mad it was nice. We had a great time. During the night this place is great to have a few drinks and appetizers.
We took our family to brunch with for my parents anniversary and it was such a nice atmosphere! Nice, clean outdoor patio with lots of space. We enjoyed each of our meals and the food came out quickly. My dad ordered the Bloody Mary and said it was one of the best he’s had in a while. The service was great as well, we met Gabriel and he was attentive and hospitable. High recommend this spot!
High quality food in a cool location. Love the menu and the quality ingredients and definitely want to come back. Interestingly the pizza was fine but the hummus and the chicken sandwich really stole the show for us. The hummus had an amazing pita bread accompaniment that we will get everything. The fried chicken sandwich competes with some of the best we've had in LA.
This was our best meal in California! Our server was so kind and had excellent recommendations. The atmosphere is calm and dreamy. I am still dreaming about the hummus! I 100% recommend!
Always a good address to hang out at after a soccer game at the airport park field or just for a brunch with family and friends. They have a large outdoor patio (with heaters) as well as a nice and large indoor seating space. Menu wise, they do offer a good combination of dishes, although I suggest to start with their bread and dips, homemade bread and pizzas are their trademark. They do also offer a few brunch specials that worth it.
This restaurant has the coolest atmosphere with great food & service. I would say a gem of a restaurant in Santa Monica. Food is excellent. The Shrimp Pasta dish I had was amazing. It can get a little noisy indoors in main seating area, but outside & near the bar it is quieter. The brownie dessert yummy. I highly recommend. It is worth it.
Was SUPER pleasantly surprised by this place. Firstly, great big patio with plenty of tables, lots of heaters so it was nice to dine outside even though it was chilly. Super fast and friendly service. The food was excellent. I read about the short rib bucatini on yelp and it did not disappoint. Pasta was cooked perfect al dente and the sauce was to die for. We also ordered their white shrimp ceviche, ahi tuna wontons, both of which were amazingly delicious and fresh, the tuna was excellent. We will definitely be coming back to The Cloverfield!
Cloverfield is one of my favorite spots to get lunch or dinner, even more so after getting a puppy as their large patio is dog friendly. Family atmosphere and great food.
What a lovely patio ambiance, plenty of heaters, wonderful staff - especially the host. They have just opened back up and worth a visit! Their aviation is perfectly made and they have a strong gin list with fun tonic varieties. It’s an elevated and creative pub-style menu and all of the food was pretty good.
Wow!!! I'm so glad I checked this place out. Super cute lowkey bar and restaurant hidden next to Santa Monica airfield. Super friendly, amazing food, and perfect outdoor seating. They are very dog friendly and even gave my pup a treat. Staff is wonderful. The food exquisite, and the drinks amazing. Try the poke bowl, so light and refreshing. ask for Don!! Very kind and helpful. Very glad I came here, highly recommended. Check this spot out!!
Such a great new outdoor dining location during this shutdown. The views are fantastic, the vibe breezy and relaxed, and the food is just fantastic. Cocktails are beautiful, dessert is extremely well done. Can't recommend this place enough.

Decided to throw a party here for my wife’s 30th and we couldn’t have chosen a better spot. We love the Cloverfield. The menu is easy for everyone to find something they’ll enjoy, the outdoor patio is such a great vibe. We love that they have heaters for those chilly SM nights. 10/10 would recommend
Cute outdoors restaurant. Very casual with good food. Some nights there is a band which is great! Easy to park as they have a big parking lot. Great place!
To start off with, parking is free and plentiful, a rarity in this part of LA. We sat in the beautiful outside patio. The staff was very attentive, and noticed right away that I sat down after my party. More than one person asked if I needed anything, and brought me a menu. I can easily recommend the super flavorful tiramisu, but, until next time, I will be dreaming about the incredible bucatini!
Our family loves this restaurant and we always enjoy our time here. The food and staff are always amazing! It’s the perfect setting for kids and dogs! Kelly, who has been our server in the past is wonderful! Highly recommended!

Great outdoor seating area, service was on point, they had a jazzy and chill band playing some nice music on a Sunday evening. Food was overall good, everyone enjoyed their meals, but was prepared with too much oil for my tastes. The hummus was swimming in oil and the bread that came with it was dripping with brushed on oil. The vinaigrette was tasty, but wasn't properly mixed so tasted extra oily to me.
My boyfriend and I went here memorial day weekend it was up the street from our hotel we were staying at. We shared the Margherita pizza and it was really good. Got a side of Mac and cheese and that was just ok. For dessert we shared the cheesecake and that was delicious. The atmosphere was very cute and we sat outside loved the lights and decorations and the heaters.
Friendly and efficient service. Heater offered immediately as a bit cool outside. Cheeseburger had tangy cheddar and a spicy thousand island dressing - I'm not a fan of BBQ sauce. Fries could have been hotter - a big portion I couldn't finish. The veggie burger was vegan - perfect for my guest who also enjoyed the sweet potatoe fries.
Good, enjoyed the guacamole and chips, Margherita pizza, and burnt basque cheesecake for dessert. Empress gin cocktail was very good. Service and recommendations from Riley were helpful. Noise level is a little high in the dining room. Bar area was happening and patio looked comfortable.
This is a great place to just relax and chill, particularly on a weekend. Lots of families but also lots of people just being there. It's a great atmosphere for everyone. The food is legit I have not experienced anything there that was antithetical to my taste buds. And you should just go and expect to relax and be outside... Of course there's a big inside but I don't sit there. Enjoy.
Food is yummy but sort of basic. It’s nice to sit outside. I’ve been where there is live music & when there isn’t. Sitting outside feels very summery. $70 ish dollars for dinner for two. Worth the price? I don’t think so. But it’s nice to go just once in a while.
Large outdoor patio, extensive menu, good place for groups/families
Love this place…especially easy with kids. I wish they offer Gluten Free options though:( Such as keeping a loaf of store bought gluten free bread and gluten free pizza crust so we can eat her more often. Disappointing they don’t offer GF options since it’s easy to do especially in LA
I ordered a Margherita Pizza at The Cloverfield. The crust was soft, floppy, and foldable. But crunchier around the edges. 5/5 The sauce is on the sweeter side but a great choice for the other elements of this pizza. 5/5 Cheese was excellent quality, and the grated layer on top was a nice touch for texture. The basil was evenly spread across the top as well. 4/5
Took mom for women’s day celebration, was busy with lots of family and kids. The hot chocolate is not too sweet which is really soothing. Order the house made soup, Chicken potpie and salmon burger. I really enjoyed the salmon burger, and the house made soup. Overall it’s a good weekend hang out location. The bartender is very sweet and welcoming.
Food: Got a chicken sandwhich and it was good! The chicken was crispy and really appreciated how they have options for how you like your fries- skinny, steak, wedge, and even sweet potato! Good veggie options too Parking: lots of free parking and convenient right next to the museum of flying Atmosphere: good brunch vibes, and family and dog friendly Appreciated how they calculated tip before tax :)
A bit too pricy but good food Highly recommend the ahi tuna tacos The fish and chips needed more salt and another fish finger And the breakfast burrito was delicious but needed guacamole on the side and less onions inside (but that might be my preference)

Nice place with a good selection, specially on weekends you can get breakfast items the whole day. The quality is good but steep prices. Avocado toast with egg and salmon 25$ … this is neither a beach location nor otherwise a particular fancy venue.

My second visit. The fish and chips are good, the shrimp ceviche not so much but the tortillas that came with the ceviche were super crunchy, the only saving grace. Beer was nice and cold, plus the $12 glass of French red wine was surprisingly good! Requested inside, sat inside, seated promptly as we had a reservation. Recommend sitting outside if weather permits. The atmosphere inside was rather sterile.
Great service! Attentive waiter. The food is below average. House chips are oily and heavy. Guacamole had no flavour, avocados not even mashed, whole Hal’s. No seasoning, no lime, not even a hot sauce on the table, no salt, no pepper… if it were not for the waiter, I would have given it a 1 star
Very nice place to go have some drinks and hang out with friends. The space is very pleasant and modern with tables outside and inside they also have a very welcoming atmosphere to bring your kids and pets. Food is good but I personally felt the prices were a bit overpriced. For 2 people to spend over $160 bucks and still leave the place hungry wasn’t what I was planning. The appetizers were definitely not worth the money (extremely small portions , not sharable at all).
Came here for lunch with a friend and really enjoyed the ambiance. Has a beautiful outdoor setting, nestled away in a serene nook of Santa Monica. Unfortunately, the food was mediocre at best. The shrimp in the shrimp ceviche had an overly pronounced fishy taste, and the $38 steak would have been indistinguishable from a steak at your local Denny’s. The steak had far too much fat and gristle to be worth anything over $25. The service was good; but all things considered, I would not recommend this place for food.
It's a cool little outdoor indoor restaurant with your standard fish and chips, burgers and pizzas. We chose to sit outside, it's cool. It's quirky. The staff are absolutely phenomenal, but we noticed that there was a ton of children running around bumping into chairs and tables and it just turned the experience. Not so great. There was no management of any child and I understand kids need to be kids and adults are adults but it did change our dining experience from chill and cool too. I can't wait to pay my bill and get out of here.. that has nothing to do with the staff or the restaurant. The staff are absolutely sensational. I cannot tip my hat enough to the staff and the food is on point
Spacious restaurant with outdoor patio seating located by the Santa Monica College. Indoor seating is also available. Free parking available in the back. Credit cards accepted. The menu is varied and they have an extensive drinks menu. I had the spicy tuna tostadas which were on the smaller side; note that it’s a paste rather than actual chunks of fish. Also had the diavola pizza, which was decent. They do accept reservations which we needed as we were a group of 8. The restaurant is good for big groups and it is dog-friendly.
The food was kind of mid. But the atmosphere and the location were great. I had the fish and chips, hummus and pizza. The fish and chips were ok but not great. The hummus and pita bread were really flavorful, and had great texture. The pizza was just fine. The vibes and location were convenient and pretty.
Place is nice and has a delightful backyard vibe to it, and staff are extremely friendly and helpful. This is where everything else starts to tank. I ordered the breakfast burrito while my partner got the barbacoa tacos. Food lacks flavor. Salsa was good and made it bearable but food was nothing to write home about. Coffee was ok. Place also has a bar for the evening.

One of our favorite burgers on the Westside! We frequent this place since the food is solid and it’s a great place to sit outside and eat with our kids and other family. Unfortunately our waiter started the evening off by saying I have a large section outside and inside here too, so……. He Took our order and within 3-5 mins, our young daughter decided she wanted a burger instead of fish and chips. I immediately found our waiter and politely asked him to change it - in which his answer was no! I said she won’t eat it, I’m sorry for the change, but we need a burger. He said I’ll be right back, give me a second. Never returned to me and I sat down to tell my kid to hang tight. After 5 minutes my wife went up to him near the bar and said you need to change her meal, period. He changed it angrily and food came out quickly as usual and was really yummy! He never came back to check on us or offer dessert. Brought our check once he noticed we were finished eating and that was that. Gave him a crappy tip (even though the rest of the staff amazing) and we generally leave a solid tip. We looked for a manager to no avail, and have had this issue prior! They need to either add more staff, or get someone with a much better attitude. Food was solid usual, but service completely sucked last night!
My wife and I dined here on a Thursday late morning. We were seated and approached my a waiter, a guy in his early 30’s I guess. He wasn’t very friendly and seemed to be annoyed that we asked if they had omelets. He said “look at the menu”. Oh okay, quite rude. We asked another question about the menu and again said “look at the menu”. We finally ordered and a runner brought out the food who happened to be very pleasant. The waiter came by once about 1/2 way done with our meal and asked how it was. The food there is quite good but honestly they should expand their menu. They don’t even offer an omelet which is a little strange. Between the waiter and the limited menu we won’t be back anytime soon if at all. It’s too bad because we live less than 3/4 of a mile away and when it was Spitfire Grill we would go once a month. Waitstaff could use improved (this has happened more than once) and a better menu.
Two friends and I were looking for a positive dining experience on a Sunday afternoon. They wanted to go during Happy Hour. Bad choice. It was a cool breezy afternoon, around 3:30, no indoor seating yet, so we asked for a heater to be turned on. We were told they ‘Had No Gas’. Seriously? We ordered drinks, my margarita barely had a taste. You could only order food from the Happy Hour menu which is extremely limited. We asked to see a manager and because I am deathly allergic to avocados, asked if i could make a substitution for from the main menu. She politely said No! One of my friends ordered chicken fingers and i was left with french fries. And wow! They comped my fries. My friends want to go back but i never will. I sure miss the Spitfire Grill which was there before.
Easy parking and attentive waiter are the only good things I have to say. The prices on the posted menu here are extremely outdated. The Sunset menu chicken tenders are not $8, they are $14. They are not worth $3 in my opinion. There were three medium sized chicken tenders that were very overcooked and only came with dipping sauce, no side …. and I was charged $14. The menu they handed me showed that price, but I had already met a friend there and was hungry so I went with it. Had I not been with a guest I would’ve refused them after the first bite. Hard as a rock. Two orders of three piece chicken tenders and two beers was $44! First time there and never returning, that’s for sure.
TERRIBLE service, but great ambience and decent food I’ll start by saying that I was a server for 8 years and if I had behaved like any of these people I would have been fired. It was changeover time when I arrived (no problem) so all I ordered at first was a glass of sparkling wine. Server #1 was incredibly rude, acting as if I was a complete annoyance. But I understand, he just wants to go home. Second guy maybe says 2 words to me as I order my salad (long after changeover and the restaurant was not busy yet), but no “hello”, no eye contact, no welcoming attitude, again seeming annoyed that I was in his presence. He comes by ONE more time and as I order another glass of sparkling wine, I just mentioned it seemed a little flat and if they could open a new bottle that would be great thank you. He said fine and brought back another glass that tasted the same. Then I sat waving my credit card trying to get someone’s attention for about a half an hour (I wasn’t in a rush so I just waited) and finally a very nice girl seems to suddenly notice me and comes over to take my payment. I mentioned the wine and she said the type of wine it is is just not that bubbly. Fine, I just accepted and paid for it. As I leave I want to stop by the bathroom. But as I’m walking by the bar in one section of the restaurant, I overheard the two bartenders mocking my complaints regarding the “sparkling” wine, and as I asked “sorry, is the washroom this way?” The lady doesn’t even look up from her hands and rudely says “yup”. Again, I am an annoyance. 0/10 would not recommend.
The food is good, but the service completely ruined the experience. When I arrived, I asked to sit at a table — the seat was dirty, and the server, seeing it, just said “You can sit” with a dismissive tone, without offering to clean it. We waited about 10 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us so we could ask for the seat to be cleaned. Throughout the meal, I had to talk to 3 or 4 different servers for simple things. The staff seemed totally lost and uncoordinated. The beer was warm, and I even had to get up from the table to ask for the check. Overall, the service was chaotic and unprofessional — which is a shame, because the food deserved better.
Ordered tiramisu for pickup. Tasted like sour cheese, definitely old. Not worth $25 for two pieces. Could not eat it without being worried of getting sick.
Worst steak frites I've ever had. I could find a better piece of meat from behind a dumpster. Better off going to McDonald's and ordering a burger with no bun and fries.
