Harlym slams the kj hits so hard it’ll make a grown man swoon… I’ve seen a lot of impressive kjs in my day… and harlym is the second best ever… silver medal…
It is an excellent place to go for some karaoke! They have great KJs and friendly bartenders. Always an interesting crowd, even when it's slow. Periodically, large groups come in and the place really gets hoppin
This place is pretty chill. It gets ultra packed sometimes on the weekend and if you wanna sing karaoke, be ready to wait an hour or two for your turn. It's a fun vibe and the audio sounds pretty solid. Idk why I'm reviewing this lol I don't have much to say about it, but that's actually probably a good thing, no complaints. Oh and it has a nice huge patio, that's a huge plus imo.
I didn't purchase food went for some karoke and it was very good great crowd people l9ved to participate I give it a solid 10
The GasLite is an INCREDIBLE establishment run by fantastic people. The karaoke is great, the bar is stocked full, the popcorn is delicious, and the customer service is top notch. This place has gone above and beyond what I expected; I had to cancel a planned private event due to a family emergency and Claire's response was more warm and understanding than I have seen from any other restaurants or bars in the Santa Monica area. You can visit here assured that you will have an AMAZING time and be supporting wonderful ownership.
It's a smaller venue but super cozy+dingey (in the best way possible). Red lights except on the dance floor. It's definitely darker in there. Gets packed quickly, but the flow of people is up and down. There was quite a wait for us to be called but it wasn't too bad since the vibe is fun.
Old school, chill bar that opens at 6 AM. Karaoke every day including starting at 8 AM on the Saturday and Sundays! Open EVERY DAY OF THE YEAR! They don't serve food, but the have popcorn! Reminds me a lot of the cool neighborhood bars where I lived in Chicago. Lots of regulars and locals. Bartenders all know them by name. All the Bartenders here are great and treat me well. Great place to wake up with a coffee after a long night, start your day with friends, watch a game, do karaoke or make new friends. Places like this are special and hard to come by.

The only downside here is the sound from the speakers just needs to reach around the whole bar more instead of seeming like the only speakers up front are aimed at the wall and the floor. I take that back a little. It does need a better variety of songs than karafun can provide. I know there's copyright vultures Messi g with these places and I have no idea what happens if they actually try playing some karaoke over YouTube and get caught by the millenial copyright act Nazis, but it should be noted that it would be way better if they could get requests easily added. That's all karaoke places, though, to be fair. Overall this is an awesome space for karaoke and meeting great people. Since it's in tourist-ville, Santa Monica, you get people from all over the world enjoying my favorite activity with others. Drinks are average price. Free popcorn is served all night. Gets crowded fast on a Saturday night.
Great, laid back bar for karaoke in Santa Monica. The staff are super friendly and helpful and the karaoke setup is great. Definitely worth a stop if you are in the area!
Easy Karaoke requests and friendly bartenders and bouncers. Bouncers do a great job keeping things civil. A little expensive for a dive bar, but typical prices for LA.
I have been here only a couple of times and It is the most inviting and awesome experience. The people are welcoming, it is natural and cool and chill, the bartenders are great, especially Lexi which was so warm, bubbly and awesome to be around and had a great conversation. The crowd is all types of people and everyone is so welcoming and so down to earth and relaxed and chill. The space is small but big enough to have a large and powerful presence, the karaoke is always fun and awesome and I am glad I stumbled into this dope bar.
Sang 3 songs here under Mandy's care. I had a great time! The professional equipment was kept well and performed as intended. I felt respected and treated with compassion. I definitely intend to sing more here in the future! Highly recommend. Thank you, Mandy!!!! 💚🙏💚

Innovators in the ‘dive karaoke’ space. Very fun with a group of friends, though weekends can be packed. Only one main room for karaoke so there's definitely a chance you won't get to sing a song if you get there later in the night and it's crowded. Drinks are cheap and strong, cash is easier than card once the bar fills up.
No menu for beer haha. Don’t ask. They have bottles nothing on tap. Have cash ready. Nice place no TVs just an old haunt. Rah
We stumbled in on a Wednesday night sometime around midnight and had a blast! There was a small crowd of characters dancing, singing and drinking and good times were being had by all. We opened up a tab and the bartender was quick and poured strong drinks. The large outdoor patio lot was perfect to get fresh air and a quick hang away from the crazy scene inside. The sound was good and karaoke song selection was huge and the guy running was on his game and would sing every once awhile too. This is a fun party bar, we stayed until last call, sang songs, drank and can’t wait to go back again.
If you're looking for a laugh, this is not a bad place to go 👍 It looks a bit 'rough', it reminded me of the Bar from the Tarantino movie 'Dusk til Dawn', but it's actually really okay. The Customers are all friendly and everyone gets into the Party vibe. The drinks are good and not too pricey. The Karaoke is DIY on an iPad which is really good 👍 We didn't try the food, so I can't comment. Well worth a visit if you're in town 👍

I went in for the first time several months ago, abd was not very pleased. I wrote a review that was thumbs down and got a nice very civil message from the owner. He said he hoped I would try them again and I did finally. A Sunday night, good crowd. I can imagine how packed it is on Saturday. Great service. Bartender on the spot. Drink prices? A little steep, but about right for the neighborhood. (I know what rent and overhead is like). Good karaoke host, system has tons of songs. Sound system is fair. Everyone having a great time even if they weren't singing. I deleted the first review I put up, and hope this one sounds more favorable. I'll be stopping in again!
Great service and prices! The karaoke could definitely use an upgrade to the microphone and a KJ that works the soundboard better..
There is one person, every Sunday night, who is becoming more and more annoying. She has a superbright video lamp, and it shines in your eyes at the worst times. She brandishes a tambourine and has no regard for anyone around her with it. She nearly hit me in the eye with it while shaking it behind and over her head. She interrupts singers when they're on stage and upstages them. I know she's not spending much money there either. You know who she is. She lends nothing to the vibe. Only a nuisance.

Dive bar with karaoke - what do you expect
This place has so much potential to be a great karaoke bar. Bartenders and drink prices were as expected, but the bathroom wasn’t even functional, and the flow of the space could certainly be reconsidered because it was surprisingly packed with a mixed crowd on a Friday night. I like the vibe they are going for with the lighting, and they have a nice mixer and nice speakers, they just need somebody running karaoke that actually knows how to run sound. Like I said, so much potential, but leaves me disappointed.
The bartender was great and super friendly. Karaoke jockey was rather unfriendly. Definitely need a karaoke system update if they're considered a karaoke bar. May have just been slow when I got there and would have given another chance, but the Karaoke jocky was so off-putting. I don't think I'll be back. I've heard from other Karaoke fans in the area they had the same experience. I get only loving your regulars, but how do you get knew regulars ifs that's the vibe.
Don’t get the gin and tonic - they didn’t have the syrup or tonic water and was the worst I’ve had but cost $16
Please try to speed along the karaoke list a little better on weekends. There was so much dead time between songs. Some people drive a very long way to get there and never get to sing. I don’t think that anyone noticed the star of Last night from Soho was there singing and dancing. So that was fun! On a more positive note I was wondering why people pick good songs at this place and it’s because you apparently you haven’t updated the karaoke list. Please don’t. Other karaoke places have been ruined by bad music. Also great upgrade on the sound since years back.
I love this place most of the time. Have been here many many times with friends and it's always fun. Unfortunately, DJ Q sucks, he skips everyone that doesn't pay him. Paying is supposed to be a tip, and I understand paying a lot to skip the line, but you shouldn't get skipped if you don't pay, since this is a karaoke bar and paying is not a requirement. I've been skipped on days they are pretty empty. On weekends, when the place is packed, I already know I have to pay $5-20 for 1-2 songs. And if you put 2 songs in a row he erases both of them, doesn't tell you why, and he's rude. He should play one, let everyone else sing, then play your next song.
I went in last night with 12 people for my birthday. We were so excited to sing karaoke but there was a larger birthday party happening. We stayed for hours, bought countless drinks, and our names NEVER got called. The karaoke jockey was only picking people she liked I guess. You sign up on an iPad system so it seemed pretty straight forward but I guess the lady still prioritizes who she wants. It was such a bummer. Well drinks are also $15 and there are plenty of other bars in the area that charge less than that.

Service was to order. The karaoke is ok. If you enjoy the beats of your favorite songs, this is your dance place. The people who are there are very friendly. This group of regulars are incredible. It's a very chill vibe that can certainly use a more "welcome" menu
Upon showing up at 10PM, the bouncer told us they were at capacity but that he’d let us in if we Venmo’d him $40. Thankfully, 10 people left about three minutes later so we didn’t get scammed. When we walked inside, it was VERY clear that they had not been at capacity at all. Also, there’s no way to view the queue for the songs. You have to ask the karaoke announcer, who literally sings along into her own mic when other people are performing. The vibes are in the trenches. The free popcorn is the only thing keeping it from 1 star.
The bartender with the short braids and black eyeshadow made decent drinks but was rude… our friend was ordering us drinks and she looked at him and rolled her eyes and said “girls these days😒”.

I get it... You’re in Santa Monica and you wanna do some karaoke... But unfortunately, you walk in this place and you are smacked in the face with a rancid stench. I tried to call and give them the benefit of the doubt and see oh, maybe like a pipe burst and it doesn’t smell like this all the time. But no, it just smells like that. Terrible I just wanted to sing, not barf!!!!!
Wow what a terrible place. I left the Karaoke organizer a $20 bill to push us up the bill and he ignored it. Gave the the same song to some guys that looked exactly like us. Maybe they paid more? Anyway if you want to do Karaoke screw this place. You have no idea what you will get out and it.
The MC is just a let down. No other way to put it. He disappoints in every level. Feels like he learned what music was in 2009. Very childish
The girl who plays the music will just play whatever she wants instead of respecting the order or who arrives first, we where literally waiting for more than 2 hours and she would just play the songs for people who just arrived, really disrespectful
The Dj won’t respect the order of the people who arrives first and will play whatever song she wants
We waited like two hours to sing and they skipped our song so some white ladies could sing. Total bs
Karaoke hostess was terrible. Sound quality was terrible, except for 2 people out of 10. (Maybe her friends?). An extremely generous tip resulted in a 25 minute wait, and she sang herself in between (if people are paying, don't insert yourself - I was in this business myself). No effort to try to make singers other than her local friends (I'm guessing, because it was very selective) sound good.
Went to Gas Lite on April 2, 2022: *Person who replied to my email requesting a table for 12 was accommodating, helpful, and kind. We were celebrating my youngest daughter’s 21st birthday. We arrived before 9 PM, as requested, and our table was “marked” and reserved. *Doorman that night was helpful. *Bartenders were very responsive. Drinks weren’t very good and were very overpriced. $12 for a small, well liquor, single drink. $20 for the same small size drink but called a “double”. No one behind the bar seemed seemed to know how to make shots of any kind. *DJ didn’t go by the signup sheet until I repeatedly asked where we were in the lineup. I signed up around 9 PM and didn’t get to sing until after 11 PM. I offered to tip the DJ. I offered to skip my turn just to hear my adult kids sing. DJ and his friends sang every few songs all night long. Same guys singing every few songs. *We arrived at 9 PM. Spent $254 on drinks and got to sing ONCE after 11 PM. We were only allowed to sing when the DJ unfolded a piece of paper I handed him with my name and the other names in my family on it. We left after we sang. *I chose the Gas Lite to celebrate a special occasion with a big group, but it was really expensive to only be able to sing once in the three plus hours we were there. And hard to watch the same friends of the DJ sing over and over …. *A few people in the crowd sympathized with us and clapped for our few songs.
I've been a long-time fan of gas lite and a fan of the staff until this new bartender had such a weird chip on her shoulder. My date and I had just ordered right before happy hour was going to end, and was met with an eyeroll and disgusted look. Then I mentioned what liquor I wanted mixed she said that if she changed it, then I wouldn't get the special, I said o.k. make it how you want, then she didn't honor the special at all. The consistent serious glares and watching how she interacted with other customers, such as leaving in the middle of making others people's drink to laugh and conversate with other staff, then coming back to finish the drink all super serious, arms folded, and agitated, leaving customers confused Ma'am, with the tattoo on your left arm if you're reading this, it was 9 pm on an almost empty bar. Cool the ego and have some fun in life.
Way too fraternity-bro oriented and overly loud. The wait times were extremely long, and when you finally get up to sing, the karaoke host is singing along over you so you can barely hear yourself. The mix was terrible and the overall sound quality was bad. If people are signing up for karaoke, they should actually be able to sing and be heard. Not worth it in my opinion. I’d recommend going somewhere else.
The DJ is angry and rude. Avoid at all cost. Seriously if you want a good karaoke experience. Don’t come here. Regardless of its reputation you will be disappointed. Trash.
I was just at the bar with some friends for karaoke night. An older man was recording us dancing, we were not performing, just dancing together in the back. I told him to stop and he did but I proceeded to tell the bartender he made me uncomfortable, and he essentially said because we were dancing like that it would happen. It was a male bartender with square glasses. We left and the security guy outside said that wasn’t supposed to happen and we should come back when it’s “there’s more female bartenders” on a Tuesday. Every place, let alone a bar, should listen when a woman feels uncomfortable. do better.
Do not come here to do karaoke. They’ll get you to spend a lot of money at the bar while you wait 2+ hours for your song (even when it’s not full), and then they might skip you at the end of the night because the DJ “gets to pick what’s next.” I guess the queue doesn’t matter here
The dj always skips your songs and plays the one she wants even if you are waiting there and we’re there first than her friends or the people she likes
bar tender was just rude for no reason?? i smiled and waved to order a drink and got a finger up and an attitude.. my friend flagged him for a drink got an eye roll and a “what do you want?” incredibly rude
A relic of the past. Came here for over 10 years. Used to be a fun spot. Glad the karoake host(8/31) siphons money under the bar for people willing to pay extra to sing songs and patrons bragging that they didnt pay $10 to get ahead. Put in a song at 9pm and at 11:30pm (also other patrons coming in way later and going before) told that still having 20 songs ahead. Overpriced drinks and a relic of its fun atmosphere. *Recommendation* Pregame this place and write your song(if your ethical) and hope to have fun. Won't come back or recommend this spot until confirmation from owners to be ethical, fire the female karoake host. Cant be too hard to have a karoake host to be ethical. P.S. take advantage of the popcorn, you will wait a while
