Opinions de Beer Baron Santa Rosa
My group was on a bar crawl and we stopped by during a DJ event that was happenning on a Saturday night. The birthday girl had some requests, and the staff helped us out by taking some photos! 10/10
Went there for the Christmas pop-up. It was great. Drinks are pre-made and way to sweet and expensive. I just had a Cosmo. Food was ok. I'd go somewhere else next time.
Great little pub with fun happy hour drinks + quality HH food for a sweet price. The service is awesome- ask for Talia, and the bartender Jessie makes a perfect old fashioned! The well bourbon they use for it is Buffalo Trace which is included on the HH price. YAY! The tacos are tasty and big enough to share. Add some guac and fries with their trio dipping sauces, you'll definitely be leaving happy and your wallet too!
This place is great. Delicious food, lots of vegetarian options (including a Beyond Burger. So happy when I can get protein). The patio is lovely with music, TVs, shade and dog-friendly. Service is always super prompt and friendly. And kid friendly!
This is the best Bar and Grill in Santa Rosa. The reason I say that is the food is always 5 star and they have a killer selection of whiskey and beer. While I do go in person once a month or so. The other reason this place is so good is this is the only Resturant and bar (in Santa Rosa) on Doordash that actually cares about the food quality when it gets to you. I have order from them on doordash 25+ times and it is always the same great quality. Food never changes and I hope it never does. The bar tenders and staff are great in person too. My favorites consist of the salmon and burger with garlic fries. Best burger and salmon in SR. Enjoy the food!!
My go-to spot that I’ll always be a regular at! Bartender Chris delivers exceptional service, great energy, and hands down makes the best Old Fashioned I’ve ever had. I host my annual client holiday party here, and the entire team consistently goes above and beyond to make sure everything runs smoothly and my guests are taken care of. And for the record—nothing on the menu beats their hot wings!
I only come here during happy hour. I love that it starts earlier than most. French fries and the sauces the fries are served with (especially the curry one) are delicious. My standard drink is an old-fashioned which is a happy hour menu item (yay!). The kale salad (not a happy hour item) is delicious and I order it frequently. Service is always attentive and courteous and I really enjoy the outdoor seating area which is lovely place to relax when the weather is nice. My only complaint…the product they use to clean tables has a strong window cleaner smell which was very bothersome, and I observed an employee spray the table directly rather than spray the towel which causes the product spray to potentially blow around if there’s a breeze, which it did.
Thoroughly enjoyed our experience at beer baron, very large whiskey selection and very good cocktail selection as well. Sitting at the bar with a friend, the bartenders Austin and Travis were very accommodating, informational and provided great service. The heat stroke chicken sandwich was also great. We will definitely return
I showed up around 5 to meet my friend and his friends. I usually show up places early so I got us a table outside (which became two tables eventually lol). I ordered a seismic alluvium on tap, and an order of the pulled pork nuggets. Within 5 minutes the pork nuggets, beer, and my buddy showed up. Shortly after, everyone else did as well. By this point, I had another alluvium, and ordered a couple shots (one ounce pours) of a 10yr old and 12yr old rip van Winkle to do a side by side comparison. For food I went with the fried chicken and waffle. The outside area was very nice and even had wind/sun shades that could be raised or lowered electronically. A live band started to play outside as well. On the opposite end from where we were seated. Overall, it was a great experience. Nice atmosphere, good food, great service, and PLEEEEENTY of drink options to choose from. Will be back!!!
Place was nice. Giant wall of bottles including great whiskey. Food was good but not great. Minus one star for poor info on menu. Wanted dark beer & server said the menu went from light to dark but failed to point out that there were two sides... so I ordered what I thought was the darkest and it ended up super light. Overall good experience though and the happy hour tacos were a great deal.
Stopped in for lunch on a Tuesday afternoon. Nice day so we sat on the patio. Patio is nice, shaded a little breeze, great place to sit We started with wings, they were very hot and crispy, we thought they were great. Had the sweet chili sauce, enjoyed it. I had a grilled chicken and bacon sandwich, wifey has a Cesar salad. I had Onion rings with the sandwich Wife liked her salad and my onion rings. I like that you can take a bite and the onion doesn't slide out, the oil was the perfect temp to cook them in, crispy and seasoned well My sandwich was great, lots of bacon, avo, good red onion. A bomb sandwich. Washed it all down with a Death and Taxes dark lager We really had a nice lunch. We will definitely be going back Thumbs up!
First time in this place. Lots of outdoor dining. Tried the salmon with risotto, very tasty. Salmon was cooked very well. Risotto had a bite to it, would have preferred more creamy. Also for $20, the portion size was small. Kids menu of chicken strips was also good. It was deep fried breaded chicken. Tacos and burger both were decent enough. Friendly servers.
I have a love-hate relationship with Beer Baron. I live downtown and my wife and I love whiskey. Especially tasting new ones. That’s where the problem comes in. The “Whiskey Bible” is never even remotely accurate. They’ll have 4 whiskeys listed from the same producer. When you order it, they’ll come back and say they don’t have any of them, but they have a bottle from that producer that’s not even on the list. The staff act extremely put out, sometimes to the point of rudeness, when you order any whiskey they have to look for. I get it. It comes across as a disorganized mess. I’d hate to look for anything there too! The back and forth required to find something you want is irritating, time consuming for everyone involved, and is a horrible experience. A tablet-based menu system for their whiskey that’s easy to keep current, with locations to make it easy for the staff to find, would go a long way to improving this whole experience. Please, either pare down your whiskey selection to an easily manageable size, or lean into it and get better organized.
If you’re downtown and want a place to grab a quick drink this isn’t a bad spot. Here’s why I won’t go back: 1. The food is… not good. It’s priced like a midrange restaurant but I’ve yet to try a single thing on their menu that I thought was worth the price. It almost seems like their chef (or whomever sets their menu) is overly ambitious and has failed to actually put the soul and flavor into each item. It’s all very meh food for more than it should cost. 2. The service is not terrific. It’s not terrible, but it’s not terrific. Would be fine if the food was better but it feels pretty crappy to have tip $20+ for borderline below average service and poor quality food. 3. Their whiskey selection SUCKS now. Like they got rid of legitimately 80% of their selection. I went from coming in just to try new scotches to them not having more than five or ten generally inexpensive scotches priced at 10+ dollars an ounce. Wild considering whiskey doesn’t really go bad… 4. There are too many better options. I mean shoot, Belly isn’t as good as it was a few years ago but I’ld take them over Beer Baron in a heartbeat. TLDR: Not great quality service, disappointing (and just a weird selection of) food, waaaaay less whiskey options and other, better options.
On Thursday Jan 1st, we sat at the bar around 7 pm, and the bartender provided terrible service. He didn't offer water or even napkins, and we weren't offered anything else. We had to get his attention to order something else. I came back for a drink with my friends today because I found the seasonal concept appealing, and I honestly expected better service, but I'm still disappointed. The only improvement was discovering that the cocktails I ordered on Thursday actually did come with garnishes, and now I don't know whether to laugh or cry with frustration because, in retrospect, Thursday's experience was truly awful. By the way the only balanced cocktail was -Dancing Sugarplums- It's worth mentioning that I tried everything... I dont think is a worth place to spend money on cocktails.
I’ve been to Beer Baron twice. Once with a coworker and another time with the same coworker plus other coworkers. Both times I was unimpressed with the food. The first time I got a burger and asked for medium rare but it was definitely well done. The second time is on me because I trusted the butter chicken recommendation but it didn’t seem like a place to get butter chicken; my coworker said some brown folks used to run this place but I didn’t see any and that’s typically who I prefer making my butter chicken 😅. I still feel compelled to give this one more shot (for the burger)… so, I’ll give it a 2/5.
BEER BARON STOLE $2,000 FROM ME! On 1/19/25, my now wife and I had settled on terms with management to do a venue buy out for our 9/19/25 wedding after party. Typically with a buy out here, the party who books it is responsible for a $20 minimum per head. With us estimating ~100 at the after party, we would have been responsible for $2000 beverage cost for our guests (on top of buyout fee/gratuity). However, we came to an agreement that the guests would be paying this $2000 by covering their own drinks and if that number was not met we would cover the difference. Agreement signed and settled. I reached out a few weeks prior to the date of the event to check in and make sure everything was still set. Management had changed and Ryan Barrow was instated as the new manager. We had gone over everything 3x prior to the event to make sure the arrangement was set and we even signed another contract. We also requested to have 6 bottles of a special liquor on hand and would gladly cover that cost. During the after party, it becomes news to us that literally everything that was discussed, was not executed. Ryan did not order the alcohol. Ryan did not set it up so that guests were covering their own drinks, so we were left to cover the extra $2000. On top of this, I heard from people of all ages that staff was incredibly rude. I texted Ryan the next morning explaining how upset I was and that they need to fix this. We agreed to talk after the weekend when he would back in the restaurant. Ryan calls me a few days later while I’m in the airport on the way to my honeymoon for 10 days and tries to make up for it by offering to send us the 6 $40 retail priced bottles as an apology. I told him that $240 is not even close to making up for this massive mistake. I said have it figured out by the time I’m back and let’s put this to bed. I return home and reach out to Ryan multiple times over the coming weeks and he keeps making up excuses for why this is getting dragged out. I send him a firm text exactly a month after the party saying we have now hit the month mark and nothing done. I said that I will be publishing this story if he does not get it figured out in the next 5 days. He calls me apologetic and aloof of the details and says give him more time to figure it out. I gave him 2 more weeks and we had had multiple touch points of him just continuing to kick the can down the road with excuses. Last Saturday we had a discussion that I’m now furious and to have it done by yesterday (11/14) or this is going up. Being Ryan, of course he does nothing and here is the story for the public to read. The incompetence and disrespect is appalling. Ryan you know what to do, this review can still come down. All I want is what I’m owed. Chandi Hospitality I hope you see this too.
2ND UPDATE: We gave Beer Baron one last chance during Trivia Night, and though we spent $150 on food and whiskey, we left after the second round of questions because the bartenders are **awful** here. Same guys who still don’t know shit about whiskey, same guys who leave your glass empty for 10-15 minutes… or worse, take the empty without asking if you want another. The bar top was filthy. They’re not friendly or welcoming at all. I don’t make this accusation lightly, but my spouse and I are both convinced that they watered down the bottle of RedBreast 12. The color was too light and it tasted watery. I have a bottle at home, and double-checked as soon as we got back, and we are pretty sure that is what’s happening. Bottom line: we’re not coming back, which is a real shame. UPDATE: In the service industry, it’s painfully obvious when it’s “just a job” for the people serving. The lack of passion is clearly evident. It’s so weird to have bartenders who don’t like whiskey tending to a whiskey bar. Off-putting experience on a Friday night recently: None of the three bartenders were the least bit passionate nor interested in whiskey. One admitted to being a tequila and vodka guy, and *not liking whiskey.* … what? Watched the three of them wash every surface diligently while my glass sat empty. Weird. ———————————————- A beautiful (if a touch small inside) whiskey and beer tavern with excellent food and a couple hundred whiskeys to choose from? What’s not to love? The bar has around 15-20 seats at most, and there are about 10 tables inside. They do have a nice covered patio on the square so there is outdoor seating as well. The smoked olive oil guacamole was to die for, and the fish tacos were very good. We’re going back tomorrow for whiskey Wednesday!
My friends and I genuinely had multiple bad experience here. The food used to be good, but recently it’s been going downhill. The chicken tacos were dry, and the ceviche came in a tiny dish, compared to the amount of chips you get with it. The drinks on the other hand are phenomenal. Always on point! Service has been terrible recently, too
