I'm a stickler for presentation. And the food was as good as it looks! Not to mention the music selection was fantastic! Mac's is in a small arty mostly caucasian town in Cali. So to be playing ALL new and old R&B was a huge surprise. As the only African American there at that time it was a pleasure. #goodfoodgreatmusic #lovemylife
Mac's is the heart of Santa Rosa! My sister took me here for lunch. she was craving the egg salad sandwich and the potato salad.. that she doubled up on and took home. I of course had the half soup/ half salad. That filled me up! their portions are ginormous! The food is absolutely to die for..... Each bite is mouth watering and you just can't put it down!( you just can't.) Even my raspberry tea was perfect! the service was impeccable. Located right downtown and right next to a parking lot... you can't beat it. Perfect location!
Mac's is THE Santa Rosa institution. It's a phenomenal lunch spot that gets better every time I come here. The pastrami sandwich is possibly the best I've ever tasted, but what truly sets Mac's apart is how warm and connecting the staff is. They are always the busiest a person could be and yet they never fail to take the time to connect with their guests and make sure that every need is attended to. There's only one explanation for this high of quality of service: love. Mac's is an integral part of the community, and we are all better for it.
From the outside, this place looks like a tiny little hole in the wall. When you walk in, you realize that it goes about 70 to 80 ft deep. Plenty of seating for lots of people. The portions are really big and extremely tasty. The same family has owned this place for two generations now and the third generation waits tables. You won't find friendlier people. Highly recommend this place.
Their pastrami sandwiches are amazing! Tons of meat, and customize to your liking. I did the cheese, grilled onions, and a side of Au jus. Quiet, possibly the best Pastrami sando i have ever had. The servers' enthusiasm was awesome as well. Know wonder this has been a go-to spot in Santa Rosa for years.
Good food and great service! Waitress was kind and attentive. I got the bacon and mushroom omelette with the house salsa. Tasty and fresh, good portions. They had no problem splitting the bill between me and three others.
The best breakfast in town with the great prices. Classic diner experience. Excellent service.
It is one of the best places for you to have breakfast and lunch, FOR SURE! Love the coffee, love the food, and the environment is topnotch. Egg benedicts are a solid option, and if you're not sure what to order, they can help you with that since they are always ready to help. More than recommended 👌.
I finally got around to trying this Downtown Santa Rosa institution and I'm so happy I did. The food (pastrami with swiss sandwich) was absolutely delicious. Definitely my new favorite version of this sandwich. The man helping me was super friendly and courteous. And I really like the atmosphere even though I was getting take out. I'm looking forward to going back to Mac's more regularly and coming in to enjoy dining in as well. Also, thank you for your sponsorship of Red Peloton bike racing team of which I'm a member.
It was a nice place to sit and chat with a friend
Eat here as often as you can. The people are amazing and kind, the food is fresh and incredible (and very reasonably priced considering being almost in the center of downtown), and their ability to remain consistent throughout the pandemic is commendable. Finally sat down after doing takeaway for the last few months and it was a great experience. Please give them a shot if you haven't been yet.
Love Mac’s chili. Best in Santa Rosa! My sister brought me some chili to cheer me up before surgery on Monday. So good!
I loved the 60-70s vibe of the restaurant. The portions are large for a good price. Great breakfast!
It's a great dinner. I've enjoyed myself every time I've eaten here.
My mom and I went here today for breakfast. It was so good! We both had yummy omelettes. I had a veggie one with ham added and she had the spinach, cheese one. Definitely going back
Walking into this place you would think a plate costs 30$ and up... But nope.. super cute and classy. Me and my boyfriends bill was only 24 bucks all together! His sandwich was huge and the waffle was so tasty I even took some home! The girls up front were so nice and helpful because we didn't know what was good and they had amazing suggestions. Will be coming here again!
A great diner that is MUST have if you are remotely close to the bay area especially if you are in the city. Their corned beef, pastrami and their burgers are the star of the show. My personal favorite has been a rare burger with jack cheese and a side of onion rings. Not only was the food delicious but the servings are surprisingly large for the cost. If you're a light eater you can probably get by even sharing a plate.
We were visiting Santa Rosa from NorCal. Heard that Mac's is a must try. So, we tried breakfast. Loved the atmosphere. Our table was a booth. And, there are open tables. Even though the restaurant was busy. It wasn't loud. Service was friendly and top-notch. Plenty of menu options. Servings were plentiful, filled to the edge. More than quantity. Everything was cooked to perfection. Prices seemed a little high. Ours was $25 prr person. Likely due to inflation. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. This family-run business is worth your time!
It is really nice place to have lunch, or breakfast. The staff here is nice and kind, food is delicious as well! I ordered the cheese cake as well, but have to packed to go, because the food portion is big ☺️
We have been going here for 30 years and have enjoyed their food, service and above all their friendliness. They are an institution in Santa Rosa.
If you ever find yourself in Santa Rosa or just passing through, do yourself a favor and stop here for breakfast, lunch, or dinner—you won’t regret it. The food is absolutely delicious, every dish made with such care, and the service is genuinely warm and welcoming. I’m so grateful for places like this that make you feel right at home.
As I entered I was quickly greeted and sat and a neatly set table, the waitress was very kind and quickly brought us drinks. Our food came in a very timely manner and it’s was cooked WELL. I’m a big fan of corned beef for breakfast so I like to try it everywhere. You can tell it’s cooked fresh here and not from a can. As we were eating she was attentive and brought us the check before we were done. The reason I mention this is because I love being able to pay prior to being finished eating. I think it’s so convenient to be done with the bill and then be able to just get up and go versus waiting around for the bill. I really enjoyed this restaurant and I think the run it very well.
My mom and I went to Mac’s yesterday for a late breakfast. We ordered the lox eggs Benedict with potatoes and a salad. We let them know we wanted to share both orders. They divided the meals out perfectly for us. Everything was so delicious, and the staff are so kind.
Great place for breakfast, the service was awesome. The portions are big. The flavor is on point. The hash Browns were well cooked and the eggs Benedict sauce was really good.
I have eaten at Mac’s many times and have never been disappointed! They have a huge selection and are happy to personalize any dish for you. Service with smiles! Our favorite place to eat in Santa Rosa.
Small on the outside, but the inside is amazing. Their interior style is cozy and homey with the trees and a bunch of art pieces. The staffs were very friendly to us and welcoming. The food portion is soooo big. I wasn’t able to finish the whole plate haha. The Benedict eggs are perrrrfect. I will visit back if I come to Santa Rosa again :)
Awesome deli, huge menu, nice staff. They actually encourage folks to customize their orders, which is refreshing. Definitely an older crowd. Limited street parking, so you'll have to walk a bit.
We had a very tasty lunch 😋! I enjoyed the Turkey Noodle Soup and Pastrami sandwich. It's very fresh and delicious. Ordered the Club Sandwich meal also Bacon Cheeseburger with Onion Rings. Both were fresh and flavourful! We'll definitely be back to try the breakfast menu.

Today was my first time for breakfast at Mac’s , and everything was absolutely delicious. I had an omelette with fruit & a side of there French toast!. The servers are super friendly and attentive. Will definitely be back.
Truly an institution. Family owned and run. Wonderful pastrami and Swiss #2. Recommended by a local as where to eat. Really great find! Busy but got a table and it was worth it!
Been going here for years. Delicious, quality food. Great customer service, located in the heart of downtown Santa Rosa. Walking distance to many shops and the mall. Nice atmosphere. I especially like their breakfasts, tuna salad and egg salad sandwiches!
Wonderful experience. Food was cooked perfectly and the service was great. You can tell the staff really care here.
A gem hidden right in downtown. Walking into it brings back memories of walking into an old school family owned diner, which is exactly what this place is. Owners are great and everyone working there is super nice. Their food is amazing and I can’t get enough of the French dip.

I had the special, biscuits and gravy. This is a tough dish, because, like most of us know, either you can make this dish, or not. The biscuits were light and flaky, and the gravy was delicious. I've only had 3 biscuits and gravy in a restaurant, in my whole life that were good. These were great!
Food was great me and my family had a great time!!
By default, this was the only nearby deli that was open on Saturday June 14, 2025. Inside, it looks more like a restaurant than a deli (quite discomforting for someone with a “game budget” such as myself). I was confused about where to order and the staff seemed full of excuses. Being a formerly prolific Google reviewer, I was thinking “they have stars to redeem.” One of them eventually came to me with a smile of desire. The tomato avocado cream cheese sandwich was deliciously refreshing on this rather hot day. As a readers needed, I found the displayed cans of readers cute and impressive, although I dug my backpack for my own readers before I saw the cans. It was a good fulfillment of the downtown Santa Rosa lunch experience.

Caution— offensive odor of raw sewage permeates this location. The server explained it was a “main pipe in the wall”. I should not have stayed to eat, but I was starving. Food and staff are 5stars, but the environment is awful. STRONGLY recommend avoiding this restaurant until the plumbing/ventilation are repaired. After repairs, then strongly recommend 👍.
The meal here was the not good! The place is full of patrons but my observation is that the chefs aren’t turning good quality food cooked with any love. 👎🏼 Hash browns are hard, dry, and barely warm. Not using enough fat to crisp them. They were horrible compared to good hash browns. The sourdough toast is cheap (not real sourdough), cold, and hard on arrival with unmelted butter. The omelette, the “Italian sausage” is blah link sausage cut up and no seasoning. Omelette has the character of a Browns vs. Jets game 🤡 Smuckers jelly packs👎🏼 One of the owners was the server, she seems like wonderful person but I didn’t see her for 15 minutes after the food was delivered. It’s a pretty basic idea to come back a couple minutes later or when you noticed they had started eating. When I did report how much of a letdown the food was, the owner didn’t charge me. Thank you.
I left disappointed after looking forward to coming here. The menu is uninspired, there’s nothing that stands out or makes you think, “wow, that sounds amazing.” They have nearly 50 different sandwiches, yet not a single avocado toast… one of the most basic and popular items you’d expect. There are no house-made breakfast desserts or pastries either; no zucchini bread, muffins, or anything fresh-baked. In the end, it’s just a standard spot for eggs and sandwiches. Nothing special. There are plenty of nearby restaurants who offer a greater value for the money.
