The lively centre of Santo Stefano a Mare, even in winter when everything is closed, loses a star for its competent, courteous, capable but young staff. Highly recommended in any case, excellent prices.

Decent bar, the best you can find within a 5-kilometer radius, but that doesn't mean I'd consider it a good place. Excellent considering the average age of the population, since all the young people hang out here. Crazy prices for the quality of the cocktails, I'd accept those prices if the cocktails themselves actually tasted like they should. I had a cosmopolitan, a drink that's not easily found in many places, so I decided to give it a try. I'll start by saying that the drink is very watered down for the price of €10, and instead of having a sweet cranberry flavor, it tastes like water with added blood orange juice. That doesn't mean it's okay if the fruit is red like the original recipe, but I would ask the staff (who I must point out are very friendly and helpful) for a more detailed explanation of the variations the bar uses. I'll see if I can re-evaluate the place during my vacation 🤷

Four of us arrived, and a waiter told us we could move the tables closer together if we wanted. Shortly afterward, the waitress came to take our orders and, seeing us, burst out laughing, as if it were absurd that we'd moved them. She laughed, said, "Okay," and asked us what we wanted... too bad no one had brought us menus. We asked for details on a dish, and the waitress couldn't explain it to us. When the meat dish arrived, we asked for bread; the waiter replied, "Yes," but a moment later we saw him go outside to smoke while we waited, with the meat cooling down. The icing on the cake: we found a rotten leaf in the salad.

We sat down together, politely asking to push two tables together, but the waitress greeted us with a dramatic snort. When it came time to order, instead of a greeting or a friendly approach, she dismissed us with a "Come on, hurry up," and even pretended to be right. I also thought it would be appropriate to maintain a minimum of order and decorum in the staff's dress code. We left immediately.

After almost an hour waiting for our orders to be taken and seeing others arriving after us eating, the waitress arrives with just coffee saying they ran out of croissants we ordered. We change to what she says she makes and she comes once more to say she can't make it no more !! We drink our Cold coffees and go. Never to return.
