Many different flavors of ice cream, fair prices and service was average. My biggest concern and reason for the 3 star was their lack of COVID 19 safety procedures. There was 1 window. This window was were people ordered, payed and picked up their ice cream. People reached over each other to get ice cream when ready, stood inches away from each other while waiting for their ice cream to come out and 2 families that ordered had no mask on. They came to the window inches from staff when ordering and than stood their while other families came to the same window to order. Suggest to maybe open 2 windows to mitigate the risk of COVID spreading Now that the precautions no longer need to be followed…. I updated the rating to a 5

Hands down, one of my favourite go-to places especially on any hot day. The selection of their soft serve ice cream is top tier; they will occasionally have limited edition/seasonal flavours as well, one of my favs is chai. If you want something more, they also have flurries which are always a win. My dog also loves that they have goodies for him!

I had Stella's banana custard tonight and it was so creamy and delicious! Stella's really is a gem in Schenectady's cultural landscape and I can see it becoming a local staple. Gabe and Ashley and the crew are so courteous and put a lot of care into their craft. Absolutely recommend and will definitely visit again!

The ice cream (really frozen custard) was honestly the best I’ve ever had. The list is long and there are a ton of flavors to choose from, I decided to go with cotton candy. Don’t worry, my next one will be one of those peanut butter cup sundaes! The waffle cones are cleared dipped in house and I appreciate they don’t have the paper wrap on the bottom, that’s one of my biggest pet peeves ordering cones when I can’t get the paper off. I’m assuming they’re made in house as well? Anyways, everything was AWESOME. And I can’t wait to go try more flavors!

When it's so good you go twice in one day! Their ice cream is the best in the area and I'm so happy the new owners have come in and transformed everything! The ice cream is so thick and rich, it's incomparable. And they even offer multiple dips on one cone!! I've never seen that before but as they say "Anything is possible at Stella's". I've also had their chicken fingers, fries and burger. Highly recommend the chicken fingers and fries! They were hot and really crunchy. Skip the burger and have a second ice cream or shaved ice instead!

The dole twist here is always my go to when I want a cold treat. Also, they installed these nice shade sails that keep you cool while you enjoy the ice cream. Bought one of their custom-made frozen custard cakes. It was excellent. I picked the Large for 6 people because I wanted leftovers, well, believe me that thing is huge. We went at it hard yesterday and couldn't even eat half. Very happy with it- they have many choices for flavors and add-ins.

BEST soft serve in the area. Super rich, creamy and dense soft serve. Did I mention dense? Seriously, where other places pump more air into the machine this place clearly keeps it as little as possible. You have to drive to the 'Snow Man' in Troy to get the same kind of GREAT soft serve. The brownie sundae was delicious, would've liked more brownie pieces but the vanilla custard rich creamy and both fudge and caramel sauces yummy-a little eyebrow raise at the price 9$+ but a treat is a treat.

I ordered a cake from here for ten people and was quoted $42. I went to pick it up and there is a cake that feeds 20 people and cost $70. They would not work with me and basically said it is my problem. I would not recommend anyone order cakes from this place. And I will never go back. Update: the owner called me right back and rectified the situation immediately and only charged me for what I ordered. Good way to run a business!

My husband & I go at least once a week he always gets a sundae & I a strawberry w/ real chocolate sprinkles love that sprinkles are real chocolate I’m just a little disappointed about the eating area wish it was cleaner. Ice cream & food was excellent, great customer service also 👍

Had our first Ice cream of the year today & first time checking out Stella's. The staff was friendly & helpful, taught me that the ice cream is actually considered custard because of the high percent. Was super creamy & the cherry dip was delicious!! We will be back to try other items!! Definitely will have a hard time picking, the menu is huge !

Nice place for homemade custard. Tons of flavors. They also have soft serve and hard which is Perry’s. Lots to choose from with shakes, flurries, fried dough and I think they also have food. It is pricey however. We got two custards which are only served in one available size, it’s pretty decent size but the total was $15 for two. So definitely pricey. Good waffle cones. The icecream itself was good but I’ve had better. The blueberry cheese cake was too strong of the blueberry fake flavoring taste. I’d try more of a regular flavor next time. Overall decent place. But expensive.

Custard and sundaes are really good. 3 stars because they often get the order wrong and hand you the wrong flavor, refuse to use the flavored custard in sundaes "unless you ask the right person", and it is always filthy in front of the store. I realize it's inconsiderate customers leaving dog poo and big ice cream messes, but seems like cleaning is a once a day thing there.

Stopped by for a "supernova" sundae. Twist custard was ok, no complaints. Surprised to see a rather scant amount of hot fudge. Really, just an underwhelming fudge, to begin with. Sundae toppings in general seemed in short supply on the almost $9 dessert. Maybe I went in expecting too much. Will probably try again in the heat of summer. But for now, meh...

Expensive for portion size. My sundae was small, almost $8, and mostly sauce - not very much ice cream at all. There are better ice cream options available within a short drive.

The food is iffy. Fries were soggy. A friend ordered a cheeseburger but it was raw in the middle. The ice cream is Perry's so that is fantastic. Overall, it seems pricy compared to other area ice cream places.

Great churros and shakes are nice and thick how I like them but the hours shown are not accurate and their phone is often disconnected. Went on a Monday afternoon because, according to their Google, Instagram and Facebook pages, they were open, but I got there and realized they were closed. I tried to call ahead on Wednesday to see if they were open but the number they have listed seemed disconnected. I understand if they have to unexpectedly close for some reason but please update your social media pages so people don't make an unnecessary trip.

While the ice cream was good, the prices are very high. For the price of a small sundae, we're able to get 2 at our favorite ice cream stand.

Ordered mint dip with a twist. The dips came out watery and was told that's how they are and it's because they were old dips and they needed to make more. The canoli ice cream was really good ,and I enjoy coming here for the dairy free ice creams,but today left a sour taste in my mouth.

To preface my rating, I'm the minority here due to my lactose intolerance. I got really excited when I heard about Stella's having lactose free custard on their menu. I got extra excited when I saw 20+ lactose free flavors listed on their website. I've had the lactose free orange creamsicle and black raspberry custard flavors - Both absolutely delicious! So creamy and yummy! However, my score is primarily due to poor service and mis-advertisement. We've been here twice and we've had a service-related issue both times. They got my husband's order wrong twice; when they attempted to fix the first cone, they again got the second cone wrong. Moreover, their website is misleading in that it lists all the lactose free flavors, but we later found out that they swap these flavors every week or so...sometimes. In other words, not all flavors are available at all times. There are even weeks that they will only have the Dole flavors available without any lactose free custard options. It would be really helpful if their website can be updated to clarify this, even if it was just to state that lactose free custard flavors may not always be available. We've learned to call ahead now - Except that each time we call, we get a different answer from the staff and confusion as if they did not realize they even had lactose free options. I try to follow Stella's Instagram because I noticed they'll post their flavor now and then, but I can never tell if it's current or if they've already swapped flavors by the time I see the post. Overall, they have really good ice cream. They are one of the only lactose-free soft serve options around. I can always count on enjoying their lactose free flavors when available; however, I wish their communication would be better so those with dietary restrictions can be better informed.

There is nothing more special about this place than the countless other establishments that serve the same Perry’s ice cream. What bugs me and the reason for the negative review is that they are trying to pretend they are something different. “Freshly churned” is on the sign. Not when it’s getting shipped in. Also, they have a “stroop waffle sundae” (pictured). I don’t see any stroop waffles…and no, broken waffle cones from the bottom of the box are not them. Overall, if I’m looking for Perry’s, I’ll choose the countless other more honest and humble places.

The overall taste was okay, nothing over the top, we ordered fries which came out 10 mins after our ice cream, service was good and staff were nice, but the overall experience was fine.

First time here since it was bumpys. I joined a friend who wanted to go out for ice cream. I Waited in a long line to be told the other line is where they take cash…maybe you should display a sign that entails card only… I left without getting anything.

We have been coming to Stella’s since they opened and usually always have a good time. Tonight we were not impressed at all. I get the same thing every time my family comes. I get a blue raspberry w/ sprinkles. Simple enough. I ordered it on a sugar cone. The same way I ALWAYS do even when they were originally Bumpys. The staff tells me they can’t do it. I said I’ve always gotten it the same way unless something has changed and she insisted that they have never done it that way 🫠. I get it in a dish and it’s not even mixed…(I get that it won’t be completely mixed but it was barley mixed at all) We ordered a kiddie size for my son. They give us a small. Didn’t even inform us of the size difference. As anyone with small kids would know- a small is A LOT for a 2 year old. I’ve gotten a Kiddie many times before, now they don’t do those either. The staff was rude & argued. It’s sad cause I’ve always loved it here. I’ve gone to the same place since I was 8. Sad but they’ve lost us as customers. Good luck.

UPDATE: Brought friends here and now these $9 sundaes have BARELY any toppings at all. No nuts added anymore - only the cut up cone pieces that actually just get soggy and hard to chew. So price is up and quality is down. Oddly, my first sundae was great but the second one had barely any topping at all. I know you are new (and sometimes very busy) but it is easy to lose business if you are not consistently dependably good.

I went there yesterday and ordered two sundaes paid 20 dollars and gave the rest for tips. The people were nice no issues with that, but for the wait and the fact that the sundaes came in small cups there was just toppings on the top the ice cream was melted and there was barely any ice cream in there. Flavor was good but for the price wasn’t worth it!

If I could give zero I would not sure why everyone hypes this place when it's just perry's ice cream. Some of the worst ice cream I've ever had even the custard ice cream was bad. My 5 year old will eat anything he took one bite and the look on his face said it all would not recommend to anyone.

Finally took the trip out to check out the new establishment, walked up to the window at 8:48pm and the blinds were down. "Open" sign was still lit and the open sign was stilled hanging in window, with people walking around inside. Please update your hours so they are accurate. Wasted trip and no ice cream tonight 👎

Welp I wish I could tell you how this place is! I came to order an Ice Cream cake. Websites says they need 48 hours to make. Completely a waste of my time because the counter employee said they need 3-5 business days! WTH is going on? Do people not want to make money? Customer services sucks! Not worth it! Update ***** As you can see the owner has chosen to respond with excuses and not apologies! If your website reflected this or if your employee not so rude there would be no issue! I am a small business owner myself… I expect better! I made my own! So it can’t be that difficult! I had the server spill ice cream all over me and did not offer me a new dish of ice cream. Paid 16 dollars to have all of my ice cream spill all over the counter and my hand and have it be scooped back into the dish

Staring at the 50+ custard flavors and board of ice cream flavors while the staff tell you your two options really kills the mood

Was just at this establishment. I order a Reg. Fruity pebble Sunday and a small twist in cone. Paid over $15. I asked why so much when your prices on wall say otherwise. Oh they tax you PLUS the prices on the menu are last years prices (the girl told me and all has gone up b/c of "inflation " ). I get it, UPDATE your prices on the board then! OH, and the portion size for the price you pay, not worth it. Go elsewhere!!
