it was 30 degrees outside but the soul of the place kept me warm. I came on trivia night with my friends just by chance. We came in on a later round and was still welcomes by both the staff and the people playing. We all got something else, but we all agreed that the chili was the best item. They had a bunch of cool home made sodas which were all so good. If your in the area, its worth a stop.
Great brews, I had an Octoberfest with my fried chicken sandwich. Others ordered spring rolls, fried califlower, curry noodles (that had just been made!) french fries, chicken lettuce wraps to name a few items. Owners super friendly and everyone there was happy to suggest things and put our orders in. There were seven of us but that didn't seem to faze them. Was great to try some Laos dishes/flavors. I'll be back!
4.5 rounded up. Great, well cooked, well seasoned food in a relaxing environment. Wings had a deliciously sweet, garlicky mildly spicy sauce. The lettuce wraps were very good (could use more sauce). The tamarind spiced fries were crispy and had a nice tangy taste - it was even appreciated by someone who hates potatoes. There is a nice selection of beers for various tastes. Friendly bartenders. Lively bar scene. Outdoor seating. Friendly vibe. Thursday evening open mic night. Evidently, there is a burger special on Thursdays too. Aug 2024.
Excellent food, we had the wedge salad, Mac and cheese, and the Burger Blue. Excellent service, lots of help deciding on drinks, which were also excellent! We sat outside on a spacious patio overlooking the water. Music wasn’t overly loud, lots of room between tables, and everything was clean.
Been many times and grabbed an app for book club/other various events they have (be warned, there is usually some sort of event going on) but WOW going for dinner is delightful. Highly highly recommend the burger or the chicken… forget what it is called off the top, but both were amazing. If your partner likes beer that you find rather… strange, as does mine, be assured that their cocktails and mocktails won’t disappoint. Also the fries and greens are seasoned to the GODS. Service quick and attentive and the porch is lovely.
Absolutely loved our meal at Bound by Fate! I highly recommend the hibiscus soda with gin and lime and the chicken spiedie. My husband really enjoyed their house made Dark Schuy lager and smash burger. The staff were friendly and helpful and gave us recommendations for other local businesses for breakfast and accommodation. Over all a great experience and we will be returning!
I'm obsessed with their cauliflower wings and they have decent cocktails. Great vibe on the patio with live music & nice views of the nearby fountain. Unfortunately, they ran out of rice around 6:30 pm on a Saturday, so we didn't get a chance to try any other dishes, but this just means I'll have to return - highly recommend!
This was a trek for us but glad we made it. The food was unique unlike anything we've tried before. There were plenty of veg options especially In the app section. The kids went crazy for the desserts (see the pics!) And even liked the chicken a lot (not spicy). The adult food was heavily spiced. The cauliflower was unlike any spicy cauliflower I've had as it seemed like it was raw on the inside (which was weird but the seasoning made up for it). Beer was good, plenty of choices (but doesn't beat my fav brewery).
Just back from Bound by Fate's 3rd anniversary and Beer by Candlelite dinner. We got there about 5:30 and the place was packed. Tealights were everywhere and was just a beautiful atmosphere (but hard to tell if there were any tables in the back). We did manage to find one up front, thankful for the unseasonable warmish weather as we were right by the door. Ordering seemed like it might be difficult because of how crowded the bar was but it turned out to be pretty easy to be heard (though I did have to look up what beers they had (hard to read the menu on the wall in the dim light)). Food wise, we were fascinated by the Laotian cuisine and started with spring rolls and tamarind fries. The fries had just a touch of sourness from the tamarind that paired well with either the garlic mayo or the spicy ketchup. For the main we split an order of the curry noodles with shrimp. The shrimp were large and tender, the coconut balanced out the curry in the sauce and the cabbage added nice texture. We quickly ate all of that dish. We finished the meal with an amazing sticky plum cake. The cake was warm and moist and sweet, the toffee glaze a rich and indulgent way to top of the evening. For drinks, I had flight of beers ranging from hazy IPA to a malt brown ale. The rye saison was particularly for with the curry noodles. My wife had a house-made hibiscus Laos soda with botanical gin. Sweet and definitely would be refreshing on a warmer day. The service was great, very friendly. How they knew where we were sitting after we ordered the food while standing at the bar is a mystery. The folks behind the bar did a great job of making sure no one waited too long to order or pay, keeping an eye out on all three sides. Will definitely be back.
Wow! I wasn’t sure what to expect and not much for trying new foods but I’m so glad the mood struck me and I did. We had the wings, chicken Lau’wich and stir fry noodles. Unbelievable!
Really good spot! Wine was good, beer options were cool, and the food was great. Bartender was so friendly
Great find! They had a nice mix of beers, and the sodas were very tasty. It all tasted like real ingredients, not artificial in any way. We also got food, it was delicious and so flavorful! We will definitely be returning!
How cool is it to find a Laotian restaurant in the small, tucked away village of Schuylerville? My fiancé really enjoyed his craft brewed beer and I had a lovely hibiscus cocktail. The brewery and restaurant are in a relaxed and cool atmosphere with great music and friendly staff. We ordered the pork sausage, pork belly appetizer, and the red curry. All three dishes were delicious but the curry was next level. It had a nice heat to it and a really complex and nuanced flavor. We ate every last bite of it. We finished it off with the fun hibiscus donuts. Will definitely be back!
What a unique brewery taproom. The ambience of the place and the beer I had was awesome! I look forward to trying the food next time I visit. The customer service is excellent as well.
In 2010, I had the wonderful opportunity to explore Northern Laos by bicycle. I find myself daydreaming, at times, of the people, the food and the beauty of Laos...... and a BeerLao! When I learned there was a place that served Lao food in this area, I had to go. Not to be too nostalgic but sitting on the deck at Haan Lao, overlooking the pond was reminiscent of a few meals in Laos. The menu is not large but more than adequate and varied to satisfy most anyone. The quality of the food was excellent and so fresh. While there is no BeerLao, they offer a fine selection of home brew to satisfy anyones palate. Take the drive, you won't be disappointed.

Such a great atmosphere, staff, beer, and food! ❤️✌️
We had a wonderful experience today. The seltzers are homemade (non alcoholic or you can add your choice of alcohol), and the beer was delicious. The food was on another level! The cauliflower “wings” were some of the best we’ve ever had. The smash burgers were phenomenal. The service was fast, and super friendly. I highly recommend checking this place out. Side note- we brought our 8 month old with us and they were more than accommodating which was so appreciated. We will absolutely be back!
Whoever posted the photo of the wings and said they are can't miss: You have never been more right about anything in your life. The beer is nerd-quality too; the brewer has a genuine passion for making good beer and there is a wide range of styles.

Food is awesome beer is the best around but guys I paid ten dollars for this much fried collie flower dang last one I got was full! Didn't even get my carrot sticks or side of ranch 🫤 like the place but every time I go back I feel they slippin
Another post from a place I tried a couple of weeks ago - Haan Lao at Bound by Fate Brewing Company in Schuylerville. What a wonderful treat! We enjoyed trying several plates of this new-to-us food, unlike anything we had before. The small plates were perfect for sharing, not too heavy, and full of flavor. Spicy soy glazed wings that were meaty, saucy, and full of just the right amount of heat to start. We loved the Spare Ribs, but felt it was a smaller portion compared to the other plates, so I might not order them again. Next up were the Tamarind Fries, with flavoring that reminded me of salt and vinegar chip seasoning. So addicting that we devoured the whole plate. And last, the Kua Mee Stir Fried Noodles with Brisket and no bean sprouts. Oh my goodness, the brisket was so tender and the sauce flavorful and well balanced. This spot is a hidden gem and a must try, worth a drive out to Schuylerville for sure!

Depends on what you're used to and willing to tolerate. Service was terrible or non existent. We were sat at a table then told come to the bar to order when we've decided, and bring the menus of course. We gave the order to the girl behind the bar and she promptly disappeared after saying "wait a minute", she returned 5 minutes later and handed over 2 sodas... we bussed our own drinks to and from the table from that point on. Something red and sticky was stuck to the bottom of one of the glasses, forming an unholy union between it and the table napkins we had to boost from the kitchen prep area since they dont set the table. A table of 5 that arrived 10 mins after our party of two, was served 2 orders ahead of anything at our table. Unprofessional and poor form on many levels. Your food is served in a french fry basket, we had to ask for plates. That was the last time we saw the waitress... twice, thats it. Never came back, never checked on us, we had to go looking for someone to even bring a check. And that was done at the bar as well. The food was sub par, bar food at best, nothing spectacular and a little over priced for the quality. As we ate we were serenaded by the constant notifications of the waitresses cellphone incessantly ringing by the the kitchen window where she left it. Oh and dont forget the wet naps served with the "silverware" basket.. very classy. It was "trivia night" as well..an unexpected treat when you're looking for a casual dining experience to say the least. With a good crowd on deck it was easy to see everyone was receiving similar service. I would venture to say this kind of experience is the kind that's only found in watering holes full of locals who describe it as part of the charm of the establishment while they sit in sufferable acceptance. It was definitely a meal we will never forget. But hey, why take my word for it.. try it yourself... Me, I'll just stick to dining where there's cloth napkins.
