Returned for a second go (I vowed to return at least once a month) and found they have a dedicated vegan menu inside the main menu!! Pro tip: ask which items are made with yogurt or ghee before putting the Om nom nom Chompskys on their Fiery vegan & vegetarian friendly buffet. Request the vegan Roti bread instead of naan (normally made with ghee/butter) Wow! Dal, curries🌶 and tandoori vegetable, Chana Masala (chickpeas) and mint chutneys are the best‼️
Had a fabulous graduation party with family & friends here tonight! Over-the-top food, service & atmosphere. The staff was friendly, Johnny-on-the-spot & ever present for anything our hearts desired. I always love their food but never attended a party here. So glad we did. They allowed us to lavishly decorate and set up 3 ft by 2 ft picture boards of the graduates life. It looked so festive. They gave us plenty of side tables for gifts and other party accoutrement! Our Grad was beaming ear-to-ear! Even out of town friends & family were impressed & made to feel at home. Plenty of leftovers that we were able to box up and take home for another meal... This photo of the sign on the wall in the dining room over our heads was apropos & set the tone of the staff. Thank you Ambrosia Indian Bistro - Scotts Valley!
What a pleasant surprise Absolutely delicious indian food in Scott’s valley right by the freeway The butter chicken was so authentic , perfectly executed , as good as any butter chicken from Delhi or Mumbai Chicken tandoori was great Daal makhani was good I give this place 5 stars for the food Not spicy , yet very flavorful
Authentic flavors, impeccable service, and a welcoming ambiance make this Indian restaurant a top choice for an unforgettable dining experience. They are so yummy and so fresh. Hand made Dessert was out of top feel like I’m having Khuwa in Nepal.I’m gonna remember taste of all this food that I tried.Kudos to all team member.Thank you.
Love the takeout experience every time. Incredibly accommodating. Spice level is on point. And the leftovers... I secretly order extra for those purpose.
Went for the buffet when I was in Scott's Valley. Although it would definitely be good to have more items in the buffet menu, especially appetizers, the overall food quality and taste was awesome. Tandoori chicken was amazing, well marinated, and cooked to perfection. Just add a couple of more items, and it could be one of the best Indian buffets.
Best value for food (buffet) and tastes amazing! Restaurant quality food with buffet prices. Butter chicken is 10/10. Can ask for fresh garlic naan on the side and specify if you want it crispy or chewy for preferred texture! Will be coming back for sure.
The food here is excellent and the quality is great. Servers are on top of their tables and attentive to the guests. My only issue with the atmosphere is sounds echo a lot in this building and it can get pretty loud with just a few tables.
An exceptional experience from start to finish. The buffet offered a fantastic array of fresh food that catered to all tastes. What truly stood out was the kid-friendly atmosphere; the little ones had a blast, making it a perfect spot for family outings. The staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive, frequently checking in to ensure we had everything we needed. Among the plethora of dishes, the lamb stood out as a true star. It was tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The mango cottage cheese dessert was another highlight, offering a delightful, refreshing finish to our meal. The restaurant’s seating area is spacious and well-arranged, allowing for a comfortable dining experience without feeling crowded. With such a variety of options and top-notch service, this is a must-visit for anyone looking for a memorable buffet experience.
Very thankful to Ambrosia! We had a nightmare situation with our hotel that led to us finding last minute dog friendly accomodations. Fortunately, Hilton got us in and we made it to Ambrosia at 9:09. The wait staff seemed a little hesitant but fortunately I already knew what we wanted to order (chicken Manchurian, naan, chicken Tikka masala). They happily obliged and we were able to dine and be done by 9:29, one minute before closing! The Manchurian was amazing. It's one of my favorite Indo Chinese dishes and ambrosia knocked it out of the park. Equally satisfying were the naan and Tikka masala. Huge thanks to this rest for seating us, serving us and satisfying us! Will be coming back.
Yes this restaurant is visibly catered to americans instead of indians but I really can’t blame them since their location forces them to do so(the area being mainly white people). The food is way less spicy than others I’ve had in other places in San Jose but it was still really good and I would come again. The staff were professional. The atmosphere is also very obviously americanized but it looks very visually appealing and it’s clear they care about decorating since everything is decorated aesthetically, even all the way down to the food. I really don’t get what the bad reviews were talking about with dry and low quality food, sure it isn’t as spicy but I was still insanely satisfied and I strongly reccomend the Tandoori Chicken.
I’d give 6 if I could, it’s always perfect. Best ambrosia location by far.
Great place. Their naan options were amazing, and so were the chicken options.
They have the most amazing lunch buffet special! Great fresh signature dishes. They serve an assortment of fresh authentic Eastern Indian cuisine. Trust me , you will not be disappointed!
It is my favorite restaurant in Santa Cruz county. They have a vegan menu, and the chana masala is very good. Kind people work here too. Excellent place 👍🏼🙏🏼👍🏼
Ambrosia catered the rehearsal/welcome dinner at our son's recent wedding. The food was excellent! Working with Sam from Ambrosia was a pleasure. The menu planning process was easy and straightforward. I had never considered Indian food for a wedding event before this. It was actually my son who adamantly insisted on Ambrosia, and I am so grateful that he did! Ambrosia exceeded all our expectations and played a significant role in making the rehearsal and welcome dinner a truly special and unforgettable part of the wedding celebration.
Great taste, perfect location, comfortable seating and parking. Authentic indian taste, especially paneer mutter masala was wonderful. Masala lassi and tandoori roti were healthy and tasty. The whole place has noce hygiene.
Found the buffet spread quite yummy friendly with moderate spices, unlike many Indian restaurants in the US. Tasty and clean. They have good bar too for those who would want a glass of wine and spirits. Good ambience and value for money
We stumbled upon this place totally unexpected, on our way to big basin we wanted to stop by for a quick lunch on a Saturday and was pleasantly surprised with a lot of things. Below is my detailed review of the place food and service: 1. The place is super well maintained, it’s spacious it’s clean ,it’s cozy and the warm sunlight seeping in makes it look really nice. 2. The food was served on buffet and didn’t have a crazy lavish menu, just decent enough to satisfy your appetite, but don’t fooled at that. There is a pretty good spread, there are a good number of flavoured chutneys(pestos) that go well with the simple salad starter options. 3. They have decent appetisers for today they had potato fritters and Grilled vegetables(Tandori vegetables). Which was super nice and absolutely non-spicy. 4. The main course is pretty decent , it was 2 vegetarian curries ( for the day it was cauliflower and potatoes mashed and another paneer + vegetables curry) very subtly flavoured and pretty decent enough and non spicy. 5. As for the meat based main course they have lamb and chicken( I didn’t try so don’t no comments on that 😁). 6. The rice was very simple saffron flavoured rice and a mixed lentil curry. ( I WANT TO HIGHLIGHT SOMETHING ABOUT THE RICE AND THAT IS, THE RICE HAD ABSOLUTELY NO SODIUM BICARBONATE) which was huge huge blessing unlike most other places that add insane amounts of baking soda in food. 7. The dessert was a simple mango panna kota which was nice. 8. The breads were served on the table freshly made which was really cool. 9. The buffet also comes a complimentary drink which ranged both alcohol and nonalcoholic. 10. The service isn’t great they barely check on you, if you need anything at all. 11. It’s definitely on higher price side than usually places but I guess that’s how it is. 12. Over all the food is pretty decent and has no sodium bicarbonate( baking soda) which is good cause else it would leave you bloated for hours. 13. The only drawback I found was even though it was a bit late, they didn’t choose to refill the buffet, which is okay but I think for the price we paid I would expect fresh refills. 14. They have a huge banner of Gayatri Mantra (a religion Hindu holy phrase) right above the service place. Which is very thoughtful. Like taking pride in one’s religion and culture.( We really liked it) If we are ever in the area I’d love to go back there again.
We had an amazing dining experience here. Go for this hot, hygienic, tasty and authentic Indian food presented by friendly and efficient staff in pleasant and cozy ambience. The interiors are great and immaculately maintained. The bar is well stocked and their cocktails are awesome. Ample parking space is available. The place is easy to locate and reach. I strongly recommend this place for family dining. Will visit again for sure.
Been here a few times now. It's without question best Indian food in Santa Cruz. Let's go on with the review. Upon walking in I've always been greeted immediately. Their seating is clean and well placed. Staff is extremely helpful and attentive. I've had many things off the menu here. But I'll write the memorable ones. Chicken tiki masala. Medium spice. Marinated well tiki masala sauce perfectly made. Not to rich and no to acidic with tomato flavor. Just right. Chicken curry. Medium spice. Chicks. Is marinated well. Perfect pieces of white meat. Curry sauce tasting exactly how it should. White rice. Cooked perfectly not hard or to soft. Naan bread. Had a few different kinds. Can't go wrong with their naan. Mango chutney. SOOOOO good I had to buy more just to take home. Staff: excellent Food: above average. Cleanliness: very clean. Decor: basic but new enough. Bathrooms. Clean, no issues. So would I recommend this place? Most definitely. From the moment you walk in to the moment you walk out. Your Indian food cravings will be met. Enjoy!
Just as great as the Aptos location! Was in the area and decided to try this particular location; the food and service were just as good as the Aptos location. A little birdie also told me there will be one coming to Los Gatos as well, so I’m super excited about that. Not much to say other than this place is SOOOO good, but I’m not shocked. If you don’t like Indian food, this place will make you change your mind. Anything and everything is good! No hard liquor but they do offer wine and beer. Parking is easy; they have their own stand-alone lot. Some of the dishes you must try are: Chicken Tikka Masala, Butter Chicken, Tandoori Mixed Grill, Chana Masala and Raita (yogurt sauce). Of course, the usual naan and saffron rice to use as a vehicle…. We ordered all this for two and had plenty for dinner the next night. This place is definitely better for a larger party (family style) but can always take leftovers to go like we did. Didn’t get our server’s name but he was very friendly and attentive.
Fast, friendly service. Everything we tried was tasty. Their “hot” spice level is no joke. We were sweating! A bit pricy but you get what you pay for. Lots of veggie options (apparently vegan options as well which we didn’t even notice)!
We ordered takeout online. Food was amazing! (And we eat Indian food often). Ordered the half tandoori chicken, chicken tikka masala, rice and two mango lassis. Both chicken dishes were cooked perfectly, moist, tender with amazing flavor. The portions were really generous. Two of us couldn’t finish everything and we tried! The mango lassis were the perfect level of sweet and smooth, AND cold which isn’t easy. The restaurant was clean and the service was quick, staff was polite and professional. I asked for paper plates and plasticware bc we were staying at a hotel and they were very accommodating. Would definitely eat here again!
Great food and good service. We ordered the vegetable pakoda as a starter which were delicious (and the accompanying sauces were very good too and their Taj Mahal beer is not bad either). For the main course we ordered the trio chicken kebab, malai kofta, the vegan vegetable vindaloo (pretty spicy), a garlic and basil naan, and a side of safran rice and white basmati rice. Everything was very flavorful and perfectly cooked. I highly recommend eating here :)
Quick friendly service. The food flavors are remarkable! We had the tasting menu. It was the right portion for the two of us. It was so fun to taste and discuss intricate flavors!
Great Indian food takeout! I recommend the butter chicken! Good garlic naan bread, but I should have opted for one with cheese.
Scotts Valley for a long time has had great Japanese and Chinese restaurants and now Indian. Friends took me to the lunch buffet. They knew I'd like it, and I did. They offer a mix of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, your choice. Their lunch buffet is easier than dealing with a menu for inexperienced Indian diners like myself. Dinner is done with a menu. It is a bistro, so they also have a cozy bar with happy hour, etc.. Nice atmosphere and easy access from either downtown Scotts Valley or the freeway. There are no Western/American options; it's all bona fide India. We got there at the tail end of lunch, and it started moderately busy and thinned out toward closing. Was never noisy even though an open space. Nice place for a friendly good lunch. It's a buffet, so you can make multiple trips to it if you like.

The lunch buffet here was so good! The lamb dish was great but the vegetable Korea was my favorite! Plenty of parking and space to sit.

Fabulous dinner. Everything we ordered was complex and delicious. Our servers were attentive and sweet. Can’t wait to return!
I like the staff. They are so kind. The atmosphere is clean and has great air flow. Good space. I'm glad there is an Indian restaurant in Scotts Valley. There isnt much food diversity in Santa Cruz County. Glad this place is here.
I enjoyed my Lamb Tikka Masala from this restaurant. Savory tender and delicious with Naan bread. I look forward to traveling back to Scott’s Valley to try something new.

We stopped here for dinner while returning from Monterey. My feedback matches with the overall review. Ambience is pretty cool, food was so good. liked the presentation. Plenty of food options. We ordered Paneer Tikka Sizzler, Samosa Avocado chat, Kadhai Paneer, Chana Masala with Roti basket and chai. Chana Masala could be more tasty but it was still actually good. Chat was really cool. We loved the food overall specially when we were not empty stomach (let me tell you it makes a difference) Decided that will come at least once again. Have a few other things to try as well 🙂 and then will update the reviews too accordingly.
Malai kofta came out bland. I’m sure their other dishes are better.
Came here on a Wednesday night for my mother’s birthday dinner. Definitely pricey ($140 bill for 3), and ask to speak to a manager if you have any food restrictions, but good food. Loved the lamb trio and the okra fish. The samosa avocado Chaat was like a deconstructed samosa with lots of fresh avocado and a yogurt sauce. Tasty. Service, wise kind of disappointing for such an expensive place. They didn’t offer anything special for a birthday dinner and unfortunately we had a misunderstanding with our order. My husband hates cilantro and we asked for cilantro on the side (also said he was allergic). But every item of our food came covered or included with cilantro, even after we tried another 2 times to clarify after our starter arrived sprinkler with it. So a tip if you have food restrictions to be super clear , maybe try “no whatever at all ” or I’d recommend to ask to maybe speak to a manager when you’re ordering?

Pleasantly surprised to find this restaurant on our way back from Santa Cruz. We stopped by for some snacks and weren't that impressed. The samosa was our top pick even though it was a tad bit on the oily side. Both our sizzlers were bad, the paneer was too chewy and the chilly prawn lacked marination. The chicken Manchuria tasted good but was salty.
Have been going to this place since it’s opened. Pretty large capacity with variety of options. Overall mildly spiced with decent quality catering to locals and repeat customers. Found service rushed always and some of them could be well trained. Considering few to none options in the area, this restaurant still holds well with their offerings. First time tried avocado samosa chat, highly recommend,

I have been here twice. The service was fine. The food was also good but when asked told my son they use frozen meat and seed oils for cooking. The worst part is the restaurant is freezing! They literally do not turn on the heat. I asked both times and was told the first time it wasn't working and the second time that it was on. The thermostat said 63 degrees. To pay $20 for lunch to sit and be cold is just unacceptable.

Really truly excellent and attentive service is the high point. We had the Tandoori Mixed Grill to sample a variety of dishes, Lamb Saag, and Garlic Naan. The website states "using carefully infused subtlety of fresh and exotic spices" - and I would have to say that statement is accurate - with strong emphasis on "careful" and "subtle", in the sense that the spices were so subtle as to be effectively absent. We added a dash of salt to the Saag just to bring out any flavor in the dish at all. The Tandoori Chicken was (actually) well seasoned (if not strongly seasoned as I've had elsewhere) and delicious. The Seekh Kebab (Minced lamb with ginger, onions and exotic spices) had quite a lot of common flavor profile with my mother's (Minnesotan-mild) meatloaf. The naan was not 'fluffy' around the edges as I'd expect, but was dry and somewhat like a cracker or chip. Garlic naan with just the a subtlest hint of garlic and 2-4 tiny flecks of cilantro hither and yon. Not bad, necessarily, but definitely *boring* - I'd call it 'aggressively mid'. We wound up in a side conversation about food with the desk clerk (Singh) checking out the next day and we were talking about having had Indian the night before at 'the place across the street', and I commented, "Like...have you ever had Indian food where you wanted to ADD spice to it?" and he said, "Yep. The place across the street. If *I* want Indian Food, I go over the hill for it." That seems like solid advice...
Pathetic food and very rude staff. We ordered bread, malai kofta, paneer tikka sizzler and kadai paneer. 1. I was not able to differentiate between the sizzler and kadai paneer. 2. Nothing was hot - when I complained about it, staff just apologized and nothing else lol 3. Paneer was so hard that it took some time to cut and chew it. In short, I'll never recommend this place.
Please believe all the negative reviews in the past. They all turned out to be true when we visited and tasted the food Worst food that I had in any indian restaurant . We had ordered mixed vegetable platter as starter presentation of food was 1/2 star. Food was worst. Samosa paneer pakoda only onion pakoda was too oily. When told waiter about it they just were talking among themselves.
We stopped by this place because of its reviews. We ordered a lot of food ... One person form our group vomited and others had strong stomach ache. Service was underwhelming. All most items waiter suggested were lobster, rack of lamb and other most expensive items on the menu. Samosas were the most tasteless samosas I've ever had in my life. Tandoori chicken was extremely dry and burned. Mint sauce that comes with a vegan samosas had a regular yogurt in it instead of cashew or any other vegan yogurt! Basically everything we order was an insult to Indian culinary tradition.
Food here is decent, but their service and hospitality takes away from the food a lot.. We just got done dining there, and we are very conflicted. They close at 9 PM during the weekdays, and we (family of 5, three of them being little kids) got there around 8:21 PM. I was still parking etc, and my wife and kids walked in, they were immediately notified that they have a limited menu because they are closing soon. My wife started calling me while I was getting out of my car saying that I should hurry up, because they are closing soon. I was confused a bit because I clearly picked this restaurant over another one with closed at 8:30 PM. I hurried in, and went inside by 8:26. They mentioned that a certain section of menu isn't available anymore. I understood as that menu was fresh part of the menu, and required their cook to be there, and he was probably gone by then. We were informed once again of closing time. We honestly did not feel welcomed. Rather, the employee who tended to us informed us he's "out the door at 9". We ordered from the menu which was available (pre made Curries), I also ordered some dessert (Indian ice cream). I was asked if I'm ok with my dessert being served before my food. We declined and settled at 8:55 PM being the earliest time to be served those ice creams as kids would stop eating dinner. They were true to their word on this one though, they legit brought my ice cream at 8:55 PM. Luckily, we were almost done with our dinner, as our dinner was served to us within 10 mins, as most of this was pre made stuff, and only naans were fresh/hot. Dessert was good, food was decent, but their service and approach is something I'd never want to deal with. We spent around $ hundred twenty on this rushed dinner for 2 adults and 3 kids, and we were still desiring a lot. I would definitely not recommend this place, for obvious reasons.
My family and I went for dinner on Saturday at Ambrosia India Bistro. The food was delicious, we ordered appetizers and a variety of vegetarian dishes with lemon rice and garlic basil bread. However, the customer service was extremely poor. The restaurant was completely empty when we arrived around 6:00 p.m. I stepped outside briefly to take an out-of-state phone call, and when I returned, I was surprised to see that my plate which still had food on it, had already been cleared away. When I asked the server why they were rushing us, he replied, “The restaurant is busy.” That was far from true. Throughout the meal, the same server kept hovering around our table, repeatedly asking if we were done or needed anything else. It felt intrusive and uncomfortable, as if we were being rushed out. I honestly wanted to tell him to please go back to the kitchen and let us enjoy our meal in peace. I wouldn’t go back there. Great food, but the service completely ruined the dining experience.
