Opinions de Kao Sook Thai Cuisine Scotts Valley
This was the first place we ate at when we moved to Scotts Valley. 5 years later the food is still fantastic and the service is the same. They remember our names and what we like and are super friendly! Lunch specials are a great deal!
The best Thai food I’ve ever had, eat here multiple times per week and they know us and our usual order. They are so kind and helpful. Absolutely recommend to everyone!
Great food. Great price. Ordered take out for my family, because the other Thai place in SV was closed, even though the hours stated they were open. I drove all the way down from Bonny Doon. I didn't even know Kaosook existed. Super happy to find this place, we will be coming back again.
Great Staff and amazing food. Kao Sook does not disappoint. If you want a recommendation and don't mind some spice, I always go with the Pad Kee Mao and Spicy basil fried rice :)
Excellent every time! The portions are large, food is always delicious, service great and the place is so clean. We have been going here for 10+ years and never had a bad experience.
Food quality is great, the curries (especially the pumpkin) are very flavorful and we're full of veggies and the chicken ordered. Tons of care was put into the packing of the food, which made it easy to transport home. Also the team there made pickup super easy and fast!
I recommend their noodle dishes and special plates. The curry here is not quite rich enough with coconut milk, but the other menu items still make this place a very worthwhile option. The staff is great. The lunch combination is a staple.
Wonderful! Clearly well loved, the friendly staff were familiar with several of the other customers who came in to get their dinners (that the restaurant has regulars is always a good sign). We ordered a Thai tea with pearl to sip as we waited for our food, the Yellow Curry with Chicken, and Pad Kee Mao with Pork. Thai tea was balanced, sweet and creamy and the boba were delightful. The Yellow Curry was tasty and the steamed white rice (on the side) was very nice with it. The Pad Kee Mao says spicy, but, I found it to be maybe a low medium spice level and if I were to order again I'd ask for it a little hotter even. That's not to say that the flavors weren't incredibly enjoyable. Because they were. Loved both of our dishes. There were such generous portions that my wife needed me to help her finish hers and I couldn't finish both mine and the remaining of hers.
My favorite Thai place! The coconut milk soup, Pad Thai & curries are the best. The service is also very friendly, one of the waitstaff remembers my preferences even though I don't go for months on end. FYI for those with children, there is a painting with a topless woman in the restroom - I don't mind but some might.
We eat here regularly and always enjoy our meals. For our 50th wedding anniversary we had Kai Sook cater the dinner party. We were so happy with the results. The guests loved the food. They had food ready on time and gave good advice beforehand. We highly recommend this Scott’s Valley Thai restaurant.
Honestly I wasn't sure what I ordered but items 25 and 28 were delicious.
A great Thai food place! I love the environment and food! I recommend the Mee Pad (long noodles with sprouts, lettuce, carrots, and other vegetables. You can pick your choice of meat!) I also extremely like the Fried Banana ice cream! The combination of ice cream and fried banana is delicious!
Always has delicious food, my favorite Thai restaurant in the area. I also give Pacifc Thai Santa Cruz 5 stars but Kao Soon is still my favorite, I love their curries and their sour soup is the most flavorful I have had. I highly recommend it
We’ve been to a looootttt of Thai food. My girlfriend has even been to Thailand! I can say without a doubt that this is one of the best places I’ve ever been. The staff was so nice and made me feel so happy. 10 out of 10. Just give it a try you won’t be disappointed.
I absolutely love this place. The Man my husband spoke too on the phone was very kind and professional. If you like spicy 🌶 this is the place. The Combo seafood Pad Thai and spring rolls are To die for. We will be returning.
This is a good option for people who like Thai food. The service is fast, the food is good. You can request it mild spicy, or extra spicy. I like it extra spicy.
Really good Americanized Thai food. The owners are wonderful people. My favorites were the pad tai and coconut shrimp. The fish cakes were also made fresh that day.
OMG, Angel wings, where have you been all my life? Deep fried stuffed chicken wings with sweet and sour sauce and pickled veggies and you can pretty much eat the whole thing. It's the best food surprise I've had in a long time!! It's a good serving too, with a little curry rice on the side, it's a meal.
Customer service is top notch here! Very tasty food, nice people, and the food had great flavor! Highly recommended if your in Scotts Valley 😀
Delicious dishes! We had a pumpkin curry that a nice lady recommended. She says people come all the way to get it ‼️ The restaurant got great vibes. We’ll visit there again.

First time to eat Thai in Scotts Valley. Fried rice tasted good.
The food was absolutely delicious. The service is great. My whole family really enjoyed the dinner. We will be happy to come again.
We were pleasantly surprised with the taste of all five items we ordered (eggplant red curry, chicken noodle soup, fresh rolls, pineapple combo fried rice, and chow mein noodles). The staff was also on their game with keeping us filled with water and happy. We'll be back!
Honestly, I haven’t tried everything on the menu. However, the chicken Pad Thai I have been ordering as of lately is always on point and very inexpensive! The service has always been outstanding even when the establishment had different ownership in the past! You can really taste the tamarind, egg, and while the chicken itself is a tad dry sometimes, you can request it at least medium-spicy and that right there should help. Also, the Pad Thai by default is ‘accidentally gluten-free’ so anyone with gluten issues can more or less rely on this place concerning one of their signature dishes. If unlike myself, you are a majorly reacting celiac who can’t handle any cross-contact under any circumstances, you should definitely notify whoever is taking your order. The good news is they take allergies/intolerances very seriously and definitely seem open and appreciate feedback. This is by far my favorite place to get a reliably amazing Pad Thai for an outstanding price south of the Bay Area!
Yes ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ It’s not for food but it’s for that young girl Rica who’s super fist and very kind That was too much busy and people are waiting from 1 hour 2 hours of pick up food as well for dine in she had work so hard I ordered Coconut chicken soup nice But chicken breast meat too dry and chew Same chew chicken in chicken rice noodle too much oil and full of tomato ketchup This is small request to Management please take care of such strong person and yes ! she need one more good helping hand at busy time Super girl 🧒 RICA
INCREDIBLE pineapple fried rice, and they're always happy to put the cashews on the side for people with nut allergies like myself. It gets busy for dinner so make a reservation ahead of time!
The fried rice was 5/5. The spicy red curry was delicious as well. Service was understandably slightly slow due to the sheer number of large takeouts that were also being managed at the same time. Highly recommend!
We arrived for a late lunch and everyone was STARVING so I didnt get pictures because we dug in as soon as the food arrived. We did the house dumplings, cashew chicken and vegetables, and duck curry. Everything was DELICIOUS. Service was friendly and attentive and the Thai iced coffee was also lovely.

Really good food and a nice atmosphere. Everyone seems to know everyone else and the staff is very friendly. Their Thai iced tea is one of the better versions I've had.
Tried this place for the first time the other night and was pleasantly surprised. The food was very good and the staff were all very nice. Looking forward to going back to try a few more dishes. I think we've finally found our local spot for Thai!
Good Tom Yum soup, I'd prefer pork but choices are chicken and poison (tofu). Basil pork was tasty, my coworker ordered brown rice so I will do that next time. They put rice on top of entree so all for it on side if you don't want it mixed. I got the combo of 6 and 29, grilled pork was small portion, but tasty. They use pork loin which to me is less flavorful than other cuts. I'd love to be able to order dark pork and dark chicken. Try it.
We got the lunch combo specials. Food was okay. I'm from Sacramento and the Thai food out here has treated me so nice! They give you a vegetarian soup thing. Taste like lemon grass and coconut- not sure I liked it to be honest. The coffee is strong and tasty. Service was quick but kinda felt a bit rushed. Not super busy either.
Good place in the area to stop by and have lunch. Plenty of parking available. We ordered drunken noodles and spicy basil fried with tofu and some Thai tea. Everything tasted fresh and yummy. Plenty of vegetarian options available. Friendly staff, clean space and quick service.
An unassuming mom and pop kinda place where the staff is incredibly nice and attentive. Food is definitely very much catered toward Americans, but in this area, you can't really blame them. Plus sometimes I kind of do crave American Thai food just like how sometimes I crave orange chicken from Panda Express. My meal was a little too salty, but the lunch special was $13.95 - really hard to beat that price anywhere around here.
it isn't vegan option collection listed at their lunch menu in the Pad Thai can be made vegan by holding the eggs as they say
Nice place with good Thai food...not amazing but solidly good. Staff was friendly and attentive. Restrooms were quite clean and well supplied.

Ordered a Tom Yum Soup with seafood, and one Pad Thai with chicken and one with beef. Was very happy with the Tom Yum, as the seafood was full of variety and flavor. Unfortunately, the Pad Thai (both chicken and beef) tasted very dry and definitely were missing something. I had to throw both Pad Thai’s away...
The restaurant looks decent, but I wish that their online order system would remind me to add rice (extra charge) for my chicken basil entree. I also had to ask for utensils for my to do oder. I am looking for better serive for my to-go order.
The food was good. We ordered it to go. I guess thai food is expensive. I wish I had more money to get more stuff. We got pad thai and potstickers. Pretty pricy but that's scotts valley for ya. :(
Standard Thai fare in a welcoming atmosphere. Ask for assorted chili peppers if you like it spicy as the kitchen prepares it mild. My green curry had expected complexity of flavor with good quality vegetables, but lacking heat.
Kao Sook Thai Cuisine in Scotts Valley had a rough night for takeout, with service issues overshadowing the food. Arrived at 5:25 PM on a Tuesday night with no tables available upon arrival, so we opted ordered takeout: pad see ew, pumpkin curry, and fresh spring rolls. Rica took the order, estimating 20-25 minutes; we left at 5:46 PM and returned at 6:07 PM. Phnom asked for my name to check on our food at 6:12pm but never got back to us. Checking in again at 6:23 PM, Rica said the noodles and curry were ready, just waiting on spring rolls. At 6:40 PM, I asked Phnom to cancel the rolls and refund the tip. He gave a receipt saying it was removed, but no, only the spring rolls had been removed, the tip was still there. Going back led to confusion, with manager Mo first accusing non-payment despite Rica confirming the original order from over an hour earlier. Phnom had refunded the full bill by accident; Mo apologized a lot, comped the two mains, and said no need to repay. Spring rolls went to later customers, showing bad prioritization. Key Strengths: - Mo stepped up with accountability. Areas for Improvement: - Takeout took over 75 minutes while dine-in got priority. - Fix tip refunds and accuracy, other reviews mention similar slips. - Improve communication between staff and kitchen on apps like spring rolls. Recommendation: Try Thai Heart nearby instead.

We ordered two dishes to go , one them was the Patti and the other was the green curry . Both of dishes were tasteless and blah . When I walked in to pick up there was a man with long hair which was not very friendly, he just looked at me and never said a word. The other person which was a lady helped me to pay for the food .

Mango curry had raw tasteless mangoes, and the noodles were decent. The service was poor, and there was a lot of loud chatter from the kitchen which was quite audible in the dining area. And this place charges for to-go containers, something which I've rarely seen in other places.
takeout order pad kee mao/drunken noodles: wide rice noodles were seriously overcooked, mushy. grave sin for a thai restaurant. ordered on wednesday night so maybe keep in mind that there’s a bad cook that night? tough for me ever to justify ordering from here again based on this bbq chicken: ample food (1/2 chicken!), but sadly pretty dry and overcooked. provided sauce is too thin to be any help papaya salad: good enough fresh spring rolls: comically small. order of two looks like one small spring roll cut in half. good flavor, though tom yum: spicy, sweet, fragrant. i liked this

We have been ordering from this restaurant for 12+ years and the past 3 times we have had their food there has been eggshells in our food. Once is a mistake and understandable but more than that it is negligence and a prominent issue that needs to be solved. Until then I will not be returning and I urge people to order their food without eggs until more consideration is put into their preparation.
Walking in... There were only 2 other parties in the restaurant and the server kept pretending to look around us before helping us. Had to ask for water, napkins, menus and chopsticks. I ordered food that came out ten minutes after people that arrived ten minutes after we did received their food. The server then made sure to check in with all the other patrons how their meals were, multiple times. If you are guessing if he checked on us... The answer is, of course not. Everyone else that came to the restaurant received prompt service and with an actual smile... Except us. The only thing that I could see that was different was I was the only black person in the restaurant. My fiance is white. If I could give zero stars I would.
Just left this place and spent $30+ on Fried rice only. I got highly offended at the way I was just treated like a thief, child and disregarded as a human. I ordered online and waited outside the Resturant at the door for the order to be done. While waiting I watched many people go in and out and simply pick up their to go order. So in my attempt to do the same, I was rudely approached like a thief and treated like I child. The older lady asked for my receipt and then acted as if she wasn’t familiar with her own check out system and made me show her my name, receipt and with an attitude she checked and then shoo’ed me away with her hand. This isn’t my 1st time there. I’ve sat and watched customer come along and simply pick up their orders on another day. Good food but I definitely won’t be back
We went in to eat tonight and sat down. We waited for water and a chance to order. Another couple came in after we were seated. The waitress seemed to know them. Brought them water and took their order. We decided to leave and go to ABC Chinese down the street. I called to explain why we left and the waitress explained to me that we had arrived AFTER the other couple. POOR service. We have been in before but I think I'm over this place.
Ordered takeout, went in after 15 minutes and started getting told 2 minutes 2 minutes. Showed them an email confirmation. They kept saying 2 minutes Then they started talking about giving us a refund Never processed a refund and finally got my food after 45 minutes This used to be one of my favorite places in Scotts Valley Obviously understaffed in the kitchen So sad
