We went here tonight for my wife's birthday. The specials were phenomenal and the regular menu items that the kids had were also excellent. The ingredient was at peak freshness. The rosemary butter sauce on the steak was delicious and it was cooked to a perfect medium rare. The pasta was tender and filled with the freshest sea food. I heartily recommend Osteria Mare Blu!

Osteria Mare Blu is a reminder of what real food tastes like. Everything here feels genuinely homemade—in the best way. The food tastes like Nicola went to the local market, picked up fresh, high-quality ingredients, and cooked you a killer meal the way it should be done: simply and with care. Small dining room, owner-chef cooking and serving, and food that’s clearly made for taste—not speed. One of those rare spots where you can actually taste the quality. Highly recommend.

Excellent pasta. Will go back for the food alone. Wine was tasty. People were great. Decor and lighting leaves something to be desired. A little investment in that and this place is a gem.

I just want to sincerely thank the cook, waiter, and host at Osteria Mare Blue. I brought my mother here to celebrate her 93rd birthday—it’s a special tradition we share, a little mini vacation close to home that she truly loves. You made the day unforgettable with your wonderful service and excellent food. I recommend the salmon it's the best I’ve ever had (sorry Pops, you’ve got some competition now!). The atmosphere reminded me of the charming restaurants in Italy, so cozy and inviting.I highly recommend Osteria Mare Blue to everyone. You will love it! Thank you again for making our celebration so special. I’ll definitely be visiting again soon!

I have to write this before the wine makes me forget the bliss we experienced. This restaurant is slept on. Seriously, I am not an Italian food guy, but the fish, pasta, bread, tomatoes… oh my god. It should be illegal how good the food is. I am convinced the chef has made deals with the devil for unspeakable things to his soul, the food is so good. Please, just go. Stop reading this, and just go. You want pictures of the food? No, it’s already is my stomach. And you deserve to experience the absolute divinity that will befall your palate. EDIT: I just had their dessert. I’m looking to take out a second mortgage in order to live closer and try to eat here every day. This is not the alcohol speaking. Only facts!

My partner and I came to this place by chance. We had no idea what a treat we were in for. The service was exceptional and treated us like family. The food came quickly and each dish was better than the previous. We started with the caprese salad with bread. The savory mozzarella was the perfect balance to the fresh basil/tomatoes. I had the rigatoni tric e trac while my partner had the rigatoni amatriciana. At first, I thought my plate was the best pasta I've had all year, and then I tried my partner's amatriciana...I was speechless. For dessert, the chef prepared a special Christmas dessert with Italian sweet bread paired with gelato and hazelnut gelato. Each bite was so rich in flavor without being overwhelming. A perfect palate cleanser to top the night. We will return. Perhaps the best restaurant experience in Seal Beach.

My family LOVES Mare Blu!! The food and service are fantastic. Our favorite dishes are the calamari and burrata appetizers, and bolognese and saltimbocca di pollo entrees. We’re happy to have this authentic, high-quality Italian food in town. Dining here feels like a trip to Italy!

We had ordered from here via Doordash back in June, 2025 and the food was pretty good which is why we decided to reorder again tonight. The food was delivered promptly but, regrettably, was almost inedible. The rigatoni had to have been microwaved as it was hard as a rock as was the sausage. The meatballs in the other dish were similarly hard and completely inedible. With the large selection of all types of restaurants in this area, we definitely will not be wasting our money at this place again.

We had heard such great things about this place from our neighbors, so my husband and I decided to give it a try on Wednesday, September 3rd. We live nearby in Rossmoor, and we were looking forward to supporting a newer Seal Beach restaurant. Unfortunately, the way we were treated left us shocked and disappointed. We arrived around 7pm with our toddler, who had already fallen asleep after a long day at school. My husband carried her in his arms while we waited at the entrance. There were three small tables for two that needed to be cleaned, two of which was next to each other and could be pushed together to accommodate us. A server kindly told us it would just take a few minutes to clear the tables. After waiting about 10 minutes, an older gentleman and his wife walked right past us at the front door. They were immediately greeted by the owner—who had ignored us the entire time—and were seated at the very table we were waiting for. We had already been standing outside for nearly 15–20 minutes by then. When I asked the owner why another party was allowed to sit ahead of us, he simply said we would have to wait longer, offering no explanation and no courtesy. He could have sat them at the other available table for two but chose not to. I have never felt so disrespected in a local restaurant. As longtime residents, we often dine on Main Street at places like The Hangout, Abbey’s, and Hennessey’s and have always been treated with fairness and respect. Sadly, this was not the case at Osteria Mare Blu. For a new restaurant in the community, you would expect equal treatment for all customers. Instead, we were made to feel unwelcome and overlooked. We will not be returning, and I sincerely hope the owner reconsiders how he treats patrons going forward.
