Opinions de Yucatan Grill Seal Beach
Edit July 2025: Found out they serve breakfast on Saturday and Sunday, 9am to 2pm. Delicious machaca and eggs. Yes, the bar is open 🍸. Again, 5 stars. I was down on seal Beach main Street. I thought to myself why don't I ever eat off Main Street? I was on my bike, so I rode around a bit, and I found a Yucatan grill. First impression, the regulars were joking with the waiter how their appearance had brought in all the extra people. My point is that if the first thing you notice is regulars who love restaurant its a great sign. In the time I sat here three or four new groups came in all talking to the staff as if they ate here regularly. For a Mexican restaurant in Seal Beach area, I rate five stars. I can't think of a better Mexican restaurant unless I'm driving at least 15+ minutes away. I opened with a margarita. The Yucatan Especial. It's the house Margarita. Enjoyed it and thought it had an excellent balance of tequila to mix. The mix also wasn't over sweetened and I think that separates it from a lot of other restaurants. Chips and salsa were served immediately. The salsa has a bit of a fruit flavor in the background which I am guessing is a bit of the Caribbean influence of the restaurant. I love salsa and I devoured multiple cups of it. I asked the waiter for a recommendation. He asked me if I was looking for something substantial and I said yes. Ended up ordering the Conchinita Pibil. Having no idea what I was getting, I ended up with a fantastic plate of meat served in a banana leaf that had clearly been seasoned and cooked with love. It's reminiscent of fajitas. You'll get a plate of rice and beans and tortillas to make your own delicacy. Only due to trying to provide the best review ;), I decided to try another margarita. I went for the El Patron. I wasn't sure it was going to be worth the extra $2 but then they showed up with slightly better tequila and fresh squeezed orange juice to round out the margarita mix. It was quite good. Nothing wrong with the house marguerita but I found where my extra $2 went and it was worth it. Meal was huge. Could easily split it with someone and we'd both be filled (don't forget Margaritas and Chips n' Salsa). Don't know if I'll bring my wife or girlfriend back.... Relax, just kidding. Overall I enjoyed my experience. It cost me more than say Mario's (Springdale in Huntington Beach) but that money increased food quality and service. For this area, great deal.
It is a cozy (not much fancy) restaurant. They provide free chips and salsa. Ordered beef fajita which came really hot and fresh. Food was amazing. Staff were friendly. The interior may need some renovation. Price was okay and affordable. Recommend this restaurant to all Mexican food lovers
My wife and I have been travelling in the US for the last 3 weeks. Been to California, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas and Florida and we can easily say this place is a big highlight from our trip when it comes to food and service. We found it by luck, as it’s just across the street from our hotel. Such lucky people we are!!! The place was packed, and yet we were treated with a big smile from the staff, delicious food and fast service. Our waiter (Mark B) is the friendliest and nicest guy ever. The nachos and salsa served as entree were amazing. Hands up for the yummiest salsa and fresh nachos!!! I ordered a burrito with asada and ranchero sauce as per his recommendation, and it couldn’t be a better combination. My wife got one tilapia and one shrimp taco (warning: they are HUGE!). The portions are VERY well served, full of flavour and always delivered with a smile. We leave back home to New Zealand in a couple of days, but will surely miss this place! Well done Mark, kitchen staff and everyone at the Yucatan team! You guys are awesome!!!!
We got a couple Ahi tacos to go and they were delicious
This is where the locals escape to when the town is full. The food is not good, rather it’s fabulous. I enjoyed the street tacos.

Lobster enchiladas are as good as all the hype about them has been especially the rich sauce that is served over them, a must try! A very cozy restaurant and a hot local spot!
10/10 All of these was delicious, good portions and excellent staff attention. Thank you.
This is the best restaurant in town hands down. Don't let the casual vibe fool you the food is world class and the service is top notch. It is definitely a locals spot with a large following of very very loyal customers because it's the bomb! We pretty much eat here every week since our 4 year old was born. Every item on the menu is great. I generally just get the Cochinita Pibil which is world class one of a kind dish. Thank you Yuctan Team for being amazing!
Generous portions of delicious food. Service is excellent and friendly. They want to make you happy, and they succeeded.
Their pina coladas are so much better than mine are!! So is their food! We love this place. You will too

I've been eating here for years now after a friend introduced me to the place. The owner and staff are friendly and accommodating, the vibe is casual. Although it can be crowded at times and parking can be tricky, it's worth the effort. The standout is the food. I love Mexican food and this is one of my two all-time favorite spots. The menu includes most, if not all, of the usual items -- but features several items not found in every Mexican restaurant: Yucatan Fish Pot, Lobster and Crab Enchiladas (served separately, not mixed together), and Yucatan Barbecue Street Tacos, to name a few of my favorites. They also serve saffron rice as a side dish, and offer seven desserts if you still have room after your meal. Just don't get there before I do and take the last booth!
It has flavorful food. Good service, large parking lot, if parking spaces are full in front of restaurant, there is more spaces available around the side and rear of restaurant. UPDATE Oct 10, 2021 Restaurant has inside dining and outside dinning . Today we ( 3 ) ordered the Eggs Benedict, Hevos Rancheros and Eggs with Chorizo. Great service from Javier, our table guy, he has been there 10 years. We are regular clients of the Yucatan, we knew him there as a young waiter.
Fajitas are very good, enough for 2 people to share. Margaritas are $12 each. Very casual vibes and it does get busy, especially on taco Tuesday

My enchilada was pretty good, price was not bad. However, the sauce made it really good. My husband had a more expensive plate, but he didn't think there was any seasoning. We were also a little surprised there was not hot sauce, salt or pepper on table. They had a pretty hefty beverage menu, which we didn't partake in, but we feel this is probably a big reason why place is packed.
Loved the food! So fresh and a ton of flavor! I got the smoked brisket tacos and literally melted in my mouth. The portion sizes are awesome as well! Giving it four stars because it seemed like there was only one waitress for the whole restaurant. I’m not sure what the background situation is, but it took a little long to receive drink refills, boxes, and the check. Other than that, totally amazing and want to go back again for more!
I did not find options with low salt. I had to get a salad with highly salted salad dressing or no salad dressing at all. I ate a salad with no oil or vinegar. Just plain.

Not the best in flavor and service. Service was too slow. The only thing we liked was the queso fundido and nachos.
This place was ok. The bbq street tacos were really good. The chips and salsa were kind of stale and the tamale was just ehh. It was affordable but probably wouldn’t go back.
Service was awesome , thank you Jared. Food used to be better before COVID . They raised prices * see pic of updated menu, chips were stale and food was not worth the money. Margaritas were delicious though. Not worth it anymore unfortunately.

3 star because: you have to go in person to make a reservation. If this is new: it’s an inconvenience. I am unable to drive 45 minutes right now to make a reservation for 2 weeks from now.the food here is ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ & staff is the same. We love this place.this is a gem 💎 of a place for our family. Food is excellent, full of deep flavors & satisfying .prices are lower compared to nearby eateries , drinks are carefully crafted & mixed well, mixed lightly if you request less alcohol . Nice quiet location worth the walk to the water after
I stayed across the street and this place was always busy, so I thought I would give it a shot. Ugh, I wish I hadn't. We were promptly seated and then ignored. No chips, no water nothing for 15 minutes. Another couple was seated after us and got chips and salsa as they sat down. The Ronettes to us so we thought maybe we would get chips and salsa, it still took another five minutes until we actually had to wave somebody down to help us. The person we wave down said it wasn't his table but, he would help us. Ordered drinks chips salsa and guacamole, got it very quickly and then ignored for another 15 minutes. Finally was able to order just a taco and a bean tostada. When our food finally came out, and it took about 30 minutes, the taco is great, the tostada ended up being a full size taco shell salad. Realized it was my fault, as they don't have regular tostadas on their menu.they have cheviche tostados, just not regular tostadas. But thought the server would have understood when I said a plain bean tostada. We ate, wait about another 20 minutes after we were done to finally get the check. Should have walked out when we were ignored in the very beginning.

If you like Molé; look elsewhere sorry. Rice slightly over cooked. However, some of the best salsa I’ve ever had at a Mexican joint, definitely fresh with plenty of cilantro, and the black beans were really good.
