Not very busy on a Sunday night, definitely didn't need a reservation anyway and no problem parking nearby on the street. Yes, this place is dark but it wasn't too loud, as we'd read in another review. Live music, ambience, and dim lighting were romantic. Food was excellent and pricing was pretty on point for what we got, not too bad at all, perfect for a date night. Not the most upscale place lights on, I'm sure it probably feels more like a dive but overall, the style, feel, and food make it a gem. Recommended.
Delicious food, family feel ambiance. Great service. Live piano with all the conversations going on makes you feel like you’re having dinner with family. It’s a must if you’re in Seattle
Probably one of the best Italian restaurants I have been to in a long time. Live jazz, neighborhood vibes, and a local feel contribute to the warm atmosphere. The cocktails are excellent and the food is superb. The homemade pomodoro sauce makes any "red sauce" dish like the chicken parm here nothing short of spectacular. The orange zest in the canoli is different but complemented really well with their old fashioned. This place is a must! 🍝🥃
Oh Vito’s you keep doing it, and you have since the 50’s! This unassuming place delivers on a low lit casual or romantic night out. Decent drinks reasonably priced, lovely and attentive service. Plus, live music to enjoy only enhance the overall experience. It is a classic Seattle lounge. The back room is worth checking out if you have a large group.
This place is the best!! Look no further for a dark romantic Italian restaurant. Looks so old school and charming. Great date spot. The food is fantastic, we got garlic bread, penne alla vodka and cavatappi bolognese, all had great flavor and huge portions. I also got two drinks, dealers choice, they were great, tailored to my liking. Our waiter was also wonderful, as the rest of the staff. Call ahead for reservations, they turned some away!
Me and my girlfriend went to Vito’s first time in July 21, 2018 for her birthday, and it’s was just incredible! From lightning to the food on plate. Live music, comfy seats, best server (sorry, I don’t remember you name), delicious food. I’m meat eater and sweet person, I got steak , it’s was the best stake I ever had. For desert I had, tiramisu , it was just unreal. Highly highly recommend this place for people who looking for romantic and comfortable atmosphere, with classic Italian style and amazing food! And we are coming back tomorrow for my birthday;) traveling from Canada ;)
I stumbled across Vito's while exploring the neighborhood around the hospitals. Great find. Bartender and staff friendly - food traditional and good (for an Italian restaurant). Dark with atmosphere. Before they banned smoking it would also have been smoke filled. Loved it.
Amazing experience!!! Entree was delicious and the cannoli dessert was perfect. However, the live jazz music was probably the best part of this restaurant. Ambiance was phenomenal
Well-crafted classic cocktails, tasty food, awesome music, and good staff.
Great vibe, lots of leather, dark, red. Just what you want in a hideaway bar in Seattle. Great drinks and great live music. 100% gem.
Vito's is like a scene from a movie every time I go there. On this night, Ron Weinstein (piano), Jeff Johnson (bass), Eric Eagle (drums), and Tim Kennedy (melodica), played tight, precise, yet fluid renditions of jazz standards. Tonight's patrons, fewer than usual, were quiet and reverential, listening and loving it. Nice menu. Dark and romantic. One almost expects a tuxedoed Bogart, Redford, or Deniro to enquire, "are you enjoying your evening?"
Go here to feel like an adult again! Great Jazz, ambiance, people, classic Seattle Bar!!
Great atmosphere, some of Seattle's best musical entertainment in an intimate setting.
Delicious and very kind staff. The bruschetta was delicious!
The staff was great and I loved the live jazz band! Highly recommend the short rib gnocchi and the ceaser salad. The drinks were strong and the ambiance was lovely.
Fantastic neighborhood relic complete with live music and red leather banquettes. Barstaff are friendly with a touch of snark and very adept with cocktails. Decent beer menu all things considered. Their food is best shared and tastes more appropriate after a few drinks
Vito's is a lovely Italian restaurant where you can find a selection of amazing apps and dishes with friends. Their wait staff are knowledgeable with their menu and drinks. And I could tell that timing, along with attention, are something they've excelled at for their guests. Definitely an amazing spot to get away from your own life grind. Plus there's a live band that plays beautifully!
Amazing place. Atmosphere is nostalgic. Waitress, named Andrea, was absolutely beautiful and kind. The cheese plate was amazing and the drinks were delicious. Definitely a gem and one I recommend to visit. I will be coming back with friends ❤
I don't drink alcoholic beverages, so a lounge has to provide sufficient atmosphere and quality service to entice me into more than one visit. Vito's oozes ambience non chalantly, with great live music and a classy interior. My friends speak highly of the house cocktails, and I like their black coffee just fine. It's not amazing, but it's good coffee, and they'll keep brewing it fresh for you as long as you're drinking it. My favorite part of any night out at Vito's is the live jazz that brings me in. They're sufficiently with their booking that I've yet to be disappointed in any act I've seen there over the years.
The food and drinks were amazing but what stood out to me was the incredible service. We had an obnoxious group seated near us and our server went above and beyond to ensure our dinner was private and quiet. The servers were so attentive to our needs; we were never without one for more than 5 minutes! Such a great experience; highly recommend..
Great old school restaurant and bar. I recently rented the Cougar room for my birthday party. The waitress and staff were extremely accommodating and the food was AMAZING. 5 stars to Hannah our waitress, she provided us with great service (for 25 + people) and she was very friendly. Thank you Vito's for a great time!
Great food, service and drinks. This is the vodka sauce pasta, it was good and a bit spicy. My boyfriend had the spaghetti and sausage and it was also very good. I recommend getting a dealers choice drink, you tell the server what you like and the bartender makes you something.
The "rat pack" called and wants Vito's! 'Love this place. Like stepping back into a 60 Vegas lounge. The service is great the happy hour is solid. 4$ craft beer(5-7 Everyday). The live music is wonderful and no cover. We had some pastas and the spicy shrimp was to die for. I'll be a regular.
Good classic Italian food--not gourmet, but more like ye olde hometown fare. Great, lively bar dominates the center of the room, with friendly, skilled staff and some inventive cocktails. Try the Deluxe Martini. One of the best reasons to check it out, is its storied history, from the 50s. You might feel like you are in a time-warp, and stumbled into the local wise guys club. The other reason to visit is the great, live music, from the small corner stage. Who knows, you might run into a Mafioso, but Vito's would be the place he'd invite you to the back room for some fun.
I don't usually take time to rate places, but this was one of the greatest dining experiences of my life. The lighting was romantic, the live jazz music was spectacular (although a bit loud), and the food was intensely memorable. My significant other got the steak, while I got the lasagna and both of us were floored by how delicious it was. We paired it with some wine and sat back to listen to the jazz group. Perfect night. (The crepes are great, too!)
Delicious food and great atmosphere! My husband and I love date night here, especially when there's live music. Reservations aren't required, but I definitely recommend, especially if you have more than two people in your party. If you're adventurous in your cocktails, definitely give the bartenders choice a try.
Great atmosphere. Great food, especially the chop salad and bruschetta! We paid ~$90, before tip, for 2 drinks, 2 apps, and 1 entree. They were booked up on tables but we were able to get seated right away at the bar and we didn't wait long for the drinks and food. Optional coat check. Walking distance to Seattle Town Hall where we saw the Puget Sound Symphony Orchestra play.
Awesome environment. Great cocktails and entertaining bartenders. This restaurant was totally stumbled upon and it's something I am recommending to all my friends visiting Seattle. The lasagna came out scorching hot. Which gave me enough time to enjoy a dealers choice cocktail. Super fun atmosphere with live music.
So fun! I felt like I'd stepped back in time. 530p on a Sunday and the restaurant and bar were delightfully dark. Had a great meal at the bar - lovely bartender service. The place seemed hopping with regulars. Amazing meatball sliders on HH menu. Wonderful piano playing added to the 'Mad Men' ambiance.
No visual presence on the street, so it's pretty shocking when you step into an absolutely perfect basement jazz bar. Drinks were good, food was nice, and the crowd was a fun mix of CH natives and staff from the neighboring hospitals. Great casual night out.
This is my third visit to Virginia Mason in the last 5 years and we discovered Vito’s on a recommendation from the nearby hotel staff. Phenomenal every time! My stays are always 2 evenings and I wind up eating here both evenings every visit so I can order the filet mignon and still explore the rest of the menu without exploding. Cheese platter paired with wine was fantastic. Our waiter was very helpful and knowledgeable with recommendations and extremely attentive. The food was even better. The low light ambiance is perfect and this latest trip I treated my father to a belated Father’s Day dinner. They were out of one of the sampler taster selections and they gave us the other 2 samples on the house because they were out of the 3rd - wonderful touch and service to the end of our evening. The cocktails I always order off menu and the bartender has nailed the custom cocktail with my preferences every time. Thank you!!! Can’t wait for my next surgery!
Hit this spot up on a first Thursday which they have great local musicians playing at every first Thursday. Had a delicious cocktail and by far the best lasagna I've had in Seattle. Will definitely be going back to try some of their other delicious pastas. A plate of meatballs walked by our table and we were all regretting not ordering them.
Loved this place! Friday evening with friends. The service was rapid , attentive but not intrusive. The pasta very light and available in half portions. Pizza appetizer just right for three with thin, snappabble crust. Jazz music excellent and blended well with lively conversations going on all around. A feeling of just right no matter what time you choose to leave!
They had live music making the ambience in the place great. I had never tried absinthe until I came here, it tasted kind of like tequila's distant cousin. The pasta was average, not great and not bad. The shrimp they had in it was fantastic though. My favorite part of dinner was their tiramisu, by far the best I have ever had (very generous portion size as well).
Craving for some Italian food, recommended & guided by google, we ended up here for dinner. A classic but classy place, dark, warm & cosy, with friendly service. After ordering our round of drinks, I ordered for the vegetarian soup of the day after finding out that it was tomato bisque. The soup was more thick, chunky, & a little more sour than I would have loved, but absolutely savoured it just as it is or preferred over a portion of spaghetti. For mains, I choose for a half portion Mushroom Linguine Pasta, bang on flavours, perfectly cooked pasta, I couldn’t have asked for anything more on a rainy night. My friends loved their Chicken Parmigiana & Lasagne, & I was missing my favourites, since am a vegetarian this day. Though we were full, I asked to see the dessert menu, & repeated seeing it. I was too tempted to try their wonderful desserts, promised myself to visit here again for their desserts. Bookmarked the place with a promise to return, to try their non-vegetarian dishes & yummy desserts.
Excellent food and service, but a bit too dark for my taste. What the offer is pretty standard Italian food, nothing unusual or adventurous. Under the old owners there was dish with tiny squid an octopi that was amazing.
Excellent place. Very local feel and the music and vibe were fun! The only reason I only gave four stars is service level. They were just under staffed and I feel that the staff was super rush. But for anyone around DT please visit. It’s worth the 8 min cab
It was alright. I've had better lasagna. I could see the lighting being good for some people but for me I would have liked to have a little more.
I love going to Vito's for the live music and a drink. The aesthetic is great, makes you feel like you're in a 1950s Italian joint. I always half expect Done Corleone from The Godfather to walk in. I've been to Vito's many times for the jazz. They seem pretty loyal to the acts that play there, so those musicians bring in their regular fans. I like eavesdropping a little bit when the musicians take a break - they usually meander out to the tables and catch up with old friends and other musicians. I haven't eaten a full meal at Vito's. One of these times I'll try a pasta dish. I gave it 4 stars because I have had the happy hour pizzas a couple of times. They're the small ones. Tasty, but both times the crust was very hard. Bite carefully hard. Could have just been bad luck. I plan to keep going - it's a nice loungey change of pace.
Portions definitely stand to be larger :) After ordering $25 worth of food in the lounge ($30 with tip), I was still a bit hungry - and I usually don't finish a plate. Food took some time but the bartender was prompt. Both charcuterie and pasta had plenty of seasoning. A bit too much spice and garlic. But that's a matter of preference and not a lack of food quality. Nice ambiance, open late. Would like to check out their live music one night.
We sat at the bar and ordered from the happy hour menu. I've come to be wary ordering only cheap stuff or stuff to split because I hate being pointedly ignored thereafter, but at Vito's we were treated very well and ended up ordering quite a bit after our initial order. The food was delicious, especially the pasta. I heard they make their own tiramisu and it was certainly tasty. Darkest restaurant I've ever been in; probably not the best place if you have poor low-light vision. Also, you have to sit at the bar for happy hour. But it was overall a great time. I don't know if I'd go again because it's not really my vibe, but if you are into dim lighting and small plates, it's a gem!
Always loud talking crowds on Saturday music notes. Great music. Even with the noise of people eating, drinking, enjoying the evening. Good cocktails. Little Pizzas and small plates antipasto/ cheese are delicious...
The venue is classic old school Seattle. You can feel the history of it and the photo collages on the walls of the back hallway are great. The wait staff are funny and attentive without being overbearing. First time having dinner and what we ordered was pretty good. I had the short ribs with gnocchi and my partner asked for a vegan version of the spaghetti with marinara. I want to try one of their specialties like the lasagna next time. That isn't gluten free, but I like the fact that they do offer a gluten free pasta for some of their dishes. We went to hear the jazz band. The house sound system was good, but the drummer had a separate amp and appeared to be playing a drum pad on his lap. It sounded like a car dragging full cans that hopped down the road. Very pingy and cringy. It seemed like he was a stand-in drummer who has to pawn his full kit. It was comical and entertaining but painful on the ears at times. Strange that nobody seemed to notice. We will go back for a different band next time.
Waitress could have been a little friendlier but all in all was a decent visit. Food was delicious, and the live Italian music was a nice touch. Very dimly lit environment, great for taking a date, but having dinner with your father not so much. Prices were a little steep. $11 for a personal pizza $16 for spaghetti and meatballs, and $20 for chicken parm. But once again the food was delicious and left us both stuffed. Would recommend this place to others definitely.
I discovered this spot after reaching out to their sister company hideout and they replied that they had Jazz at this venue. I drove down from the Tacoma area and I am new to Washington State so I am up for trying any lil spot with music playin. I must say that their drinks menu and the actual finished libations were delicious and based on that I would give them a 4-5 stars, but this is a review and I want to be thorough. The ambiance is unique. A mix of the young and old Seattlelites. The jazz band that night was ritzier than what I normally seek out, but I enjoyed that vibe with the drinks. I would say that the negatives is probably that old carpet smell you get a whiff of when you walk in toward the bar. I get it is an older spot and locals seem to have soft spot for the 50’s vibe, but I think that my observation means that they could use a little renovation here and there to reignite the space because this spot has further potential. I do love dive bars, and that’s why I was excited to go visit this one. I probably will stop in again at Vito’s for another drink down the road. I hope they realize hey have a gem and although Gems don’t need to add anything all gems can benefit from being repolished a bit. Thanks for having me. CAB
Maybe it was an off night but the service was extremely slow. Took 12 minutes for a Coca-Cola. The cocktails were amazing! Food is limited by a small menu but the food I received was above average and yummy.
Let start with the meal. Had a Caprese salad($14). Was good with flavor. Good for someone on a diet since it comes with more tomatoes then cheese. Cheese is house and it was delicious. But the salad is geared towards healthy. If your looking for that. I was expecting more cheese. Overall good. Also had their lasagna($16). That was good too. Subtle taste throughout your palate. Good portion however the price seems steep for that portion. It was good. The price bothers me. Next had dessert. Their Cotta($7). Was tasty. Was small. But had good flavor. Had "Love On The Run"; generous with alcohol. Very strong. Ambiance was gorgeous. Perfect for dates. During my vist there was more of the older folks. Didnt see younger crowd. No dance floor. Music was moving. Was not there for the live band which plays every night. Staff was nice and attentive. I did not see problems with staff. However there was no host upon arrival or departure. I would return for the ambiance, I loved it. Food only if someone else pays. Location is prime for the hotels, hoapitals and homes around. Overall I'd give it a 6 out of 10 stars.
We had a large family meal here. It was clean and nice, the staff was friendly. Our marinera sauce was extremely spicy and they did not serve complimentary bread. The live music on Friday made us leave. We won't be eating here again.
Service was great- best part, Food was good - especially the Meatballs! No bread on the table, everything extra a la carte. Parking awful, too dark and loud. Not a place for catching up with a friend or romance. But if you just want to eat, hang out and get totally blitzed, you can do it here! Oh and one more thing: It has "Ridiculous" downtown Seattle prices!
This place is a gem when it comes to live jazz music but I have to say the customer service unfortunately went really south. I’ve been going to this place for years, recommended to lots of friends and always enjoyed it. However recently had a pretty sad experience where I’ve ordered a new drink on a menu and as much As I appreciate whiskey drinks ..it really was not great very poorly balanced, my friend tried it and didn’t like it either. I had one sip of a drink and politely asked to replace with another drink (cheaper one). They did bring another drink but still charged for both. I’ve never been to a place that would do that.
