Here in Shasta Lake, all the good spots feel like home/family operated. This kitchen is no different and much appreciated!! Food was great, large portions and made to order. Service was on point & cups never went empty. Felt like home. Mimosas for breakfast... Don't mind if I do! $10 for 1 or the deal of the day... $14 for bottomless!! Perfect! I a new 1 at the table before I could ask! Been coming this way for years and sad this was my first time there! Will definitely be back!! Sorry no food pic... Looked too good to not dig in! Bacon was perfect! Great biscuits and gravy! Corned beef hash served on hash browns nearly made my husband's heart stop! SO HOOD!!! 👍🏼🩷

My husband and I LOVE smoked meat so when we stumbled upon this smokehouse while on vacation, we took a chance and went in. BEST DECISION EVER. We could not have been more impressed with the quality and flavor of the meat. We had tri-tip, sausage, pulled pork and ribs. Each was outstanding. We also took their recommendations for sides and had the baked beans and dirty rice. Honestly, they may have stolen the show they were so ridiculously good! When we got the bill our jaws dropped. We paid half what we would have paid elsewhere. We were so happy with our food we plotted and planned our vacation around this restaurant just so we could go back on our way home. We had breakfast and doggone if that wasn’t stupid-good as well.

Fantastic food!!! We only came for breakfast but the menu for their BBQ looks Amazing. Prices look good too. We will be back to try their BBQ and we'd come back for their Breakfast too. Very good. Poor waitress needs more help there. She could of been more attentive but I still gave them a 5 stat review because of their food We have tried their Smoked/BBQ meats and WOW it was good. Prices were great for what they serve you. Definitely our new spot to dine out Mmmmmmmm

This is some of the best BBQ we have had. The baby back ribs are dry with a S&P+ rub and are so juicy and tender. The brisket was literally falling apart and the pulled pork was super moist. Baked beans are really good too. Love it!!!

AMAZING FOOD!!! the french toast is the BEST i have ever had. crunchy on the outside and soft inside. i asked our server what the chef's secret was and she said he coats the bread in panko bread crumbs. total game-changer!!! i will absolutely be going back, but it will be hard to decide whether i get the french toast or try something new. it's that good!!! 🤤🤤🤤

Sold our house and living out of our RV. Ordered online for the first time with Old Mill. Was really happy with the food. The brisket was moist, and the other meats had good flavor.

Burnt ends were excellent. I am a bit of a meat snob and I thoroughly enjoyed them. Burgers were excellent as well! Great bun, great mix. Had the mushroom swiss. Well worth the stop!

The Smoked chicken with dirty rice and corn is simply one of the best home-like meals I’ve had in a while. Go around 4-5 for meats right off the smoker. Dine-in available; Great service, great food, fair prices!

Fernando was very attentive and personable. I had the small chicken salad and it came with spinach, walnuts, feta cheese and a grilled chicken breast. Also a piece of garlic toast. The chicken was tender and flavourful. The small size was perfect for me and left me full but not stuffed. It was super yummy and I will definitely have it again. I am already looking forward to going back soon!

First time I ever had a french toast taco. It was deep-fried and absolutely delicious.

Absolutely fantastic food, great service. I've heard that they recently came under new ownership. Dunno if that's true, but if it is they're certainly doing it right. I asked the waitress for a recommendation and she offered the brisket and eggs. She said, "our brisket melts in your mouth." She wasn't wrong. Pay a visit to a local institution and you won't regret it.

My wife and I live in Redding. We found this place over a year ago. It has quality food, big portions and excellent prices. We order to go at times. They make sure you have everything you ordered, as well as items accompanying meal had you dined there. Staff is attentive and everything we have tried has been excellent! I also do not believe they treat anyone different who comes in to eat. We were treated like regulars at our first visit. Last thing, this is not a chain restaurant, it's home cooking. It's nice to support a local business. I highly recommend this establishment!

Absolutely my favorite place to eat in Shasta Lake City. This place is beautiful in and out. The food portions are huge! Did I mention it's DELICIOUS 😋 biscuits and gravy are Absolutely a must have. I love this eatery for its good food and hometown atmosphere. I always order the Chicken salad served on a bed of spinach with walnuts, feta, apple slices and chicken ( I wish it warmed up a little). Today the salad was good but very little feta! Husband's cheeseburger and tots were delicious! The unusually slow service was unexpected. There was only one other couple there. I recommend this eatery!

Thanksgiving this year was difficult to get together with family because of the virus. So that brought us, my wife and me, to the conclusion that bringing in a dinner for the two of us was the most reasonable thing to do. The Old Mill Eatery was our choice, and the correct choice. The meal was reasonably priced, ready on time, and still warm when we returned home. Was it as good as home cooking? No, but that was not our expectation. Was it good for restaurant food. Yes, and better than most. . The daily menu is interesting, and, so far, remains untested by us. The future will find us returning for regular menu items. We suggest that any of you reading this should trust this restaurant for Christmas dinner, and support the Old Mill on a regular basis. We do not believe you will find better in the local Redding area.

I have visited Old Mill Eatery many times, and I rarely order anything but the French Toast! It is crispy on the edges and soft in the middle, and it is consistently delicious. I have also tried their pulled pork and brisket, and they are both great. I don't personally love the burgers there, but my family seems to like them. The restaurant is small, but it typically isn't too crowded. They seem to do a lot of take-out business. I like the "log cabin" feel of the place! The owner does a lot of the food preparation, and the quality of the food is consistently great. I definitely suggest people in the Shasta Lake and Redding areas give Old Mill Eatery a try.

We were just passing through town looking for some good food, and the Old Mill Eatery was just the place for us! I got the tri-tip, and he got the chicken fried steak. Both cooked to perfection. The atmosphere had a very special personal touch that captivated me when I stepped in. It felt like a cabin in the woods. The place was very clean when we visited. The service was sweet and friendly. Something special was the beautiful wood fixings. 10/10 would eat here again 😋

Good food, great service, Im not a fan of any news on tvs, that was the once annoyance. My waitress was very sweet and, although recovering from a leg injury, did her best to stay on top of the customers she had. Chicken fried steak, hashbrowns, and toast were tasty. The steak may have been premade but was crisp and well seasoned. The gravy was very good.

1st time here. Stopped for breakfast, after a trip out to Shasta Dam. Service was great. Waitress was attentive to customers, and there needs. Pancakes were delicious. Didn't know they would be so huge. Definitely good portions. Plan on going back when were in that area again.

We are visiting from out of town and were recommended Old Mill Eatery. We stopped in for breakfast and sat on the patio with our small dog. Our server was Kerri, who was very friendly & personable, and extremely attentive to our needs! I had the French toast classic, which was the perfect amount of food to leave me satisfied but not overly-full. The French toast has panko crust, which was a new twist for me. I liked that every bite had a crunchiness to it, but still the classic cinnamony French toast taste. The mimosas also has generous pours of champagne. The building has beautiful wood throughout, and the restrooms were very nice and clean. Overall, 10/10 for service, food, and atmosphere. We hope to have a chance to stop back in for the BBQ side of the menu :)

Amazing food, always cooked to perfection, fair pricing!!!

Meat selections were larger than expected. Portions were larger than we could eat. Came out quickly. They can do small to go orders or cater. Lots of options on the menu. They even have an easy to navigate website that you get discounts on from ordering online. Definitely would recommend if you're a meat eater. I even ordered breakfast after 7p.m.

Hungry coming through Lake Shasta, pulled up restaurants and this place came up with pretty good reviews. It’s a mile or so off the highway, though very worth the little bit of extra time. Wait staff was friendly, chicken fried steak and eggs was excellent, fresh, tasty. We’ll be back again!

Update: 9/3/22 If you are looking for a tasty vegan breakfast I recommend the Country Potatoes, mushrooms, Bell's and onion's with Avocado. It just keeps getting tastier. The owner is the best cook! Vegan Accommodations! AA++ I love Old Mill and I take my family all the time, however, recent health issues have me on a vegan diet and I was concerned there would be little for me to eat at this place known for its mouth watering brisket and smoked meats. Jonathan, the cook, said NO PROBLEM and whipped up a DELICIOUS mix of home fries, with bells, onions, spinach, squash, broccoli and avocado. IT WAS DELICIOUS - Reasonably priced and very filling. This is now on the secret menu - just ask for Jonathan's Special! They put the recipie on the wall in the kitchen so anyone cooking knows what it is! Way to go Old Mill!

The food was great. The gentleman who served us was very nice. There was a issue with our drinks. Which he went above and beyond to fix. He was very helpful with our requests about changes to meal to accommodate My low blood sugar and the rest of our parties diabetes.

My best Mothers Day breakfast ever! We walked up to the front door, it opened, and Kat was right there! Welcoming us in with a big hug! We lucked out and got a window booth immediately. Kat managed to get me the last Eggs Benedict of the day. We were a little late fir the special. Iy was so YUM! My husbands BLT was great! The whole staff were great! My dad has always been a big time smoker and we have had hard times finding a brisket to match. But these guys absolutely knocked it out of the park!! Cat our waitress was so sweet and made sure to check in on us regularly. I was so impressed with the atmosphere, the staff and most of all the quality and taste of the food! 10/10 best brisket I have had in Northern California since I have moved here!

A hidden treasure for sure! We ordered the BLTA and the blackened chicken salad with the raspberry vinaigrette. The salad was phenomenal, will order that again. The BLTA was big enough to share between two people. It has the best bacon, and the avocado takes it up a notch. Our waitress was sweet and very attentive to what we needed.

Unfortunately the young lady that waited on us was either not having a good day or was not thrilled about her job. We tried to make conversation with her but to no avail. I've been here for bottomless mimosas but after a few they say "they run out of juice or champagne" so think twice about getting the bottomless mimosas(they are not bottomless as advertized). The waitresses are super nice, always sweet, funny, and welcoming! The breakfast is always yummy. Their BBQ was not great. You can eat it, but not much for enjoyment. Their beans had WAY too much garlic but their corn bread was good.

My review is completely based on to go orders. Even before the shut down for some reason it's always been to go orders. I absolutely love love love the food. I finish every piece of food in my order. I assume it's owner is always super nice when I pick my food up. It's usually just him and the cook. My only reason for not giving 5 stars is the website for online ordering. It's great to offer so much in options but when you just want to place a quick order it's not possible. Maybe if there's a way to make express ordering or maybe 1 or 2 list and pick from these. I'm not sure but something to speed up the process. Either way I guess it's not gonna stop me from ordering just something to think about. Based on food alone : *****

This was our first visit here and WOW! I just moved here and pass by this place daily. The aromas made my mouth water. I really didn't expect this quality of food so close to my new house. Tender juicy succulent meats. Delicious sides. Far exceeded my expectations! I will be a regular and look forward to sampling the entire menu.

My wife and I stopped here for lunch on the way to Shasta Mountain. I do my own smoking so had to try a little! My wife ordered a chicken salad dish but I went for tri tip and eggs with hashbrowns. I ordered the biscuit and gravy as my side. Really friendly server and the cooks looked pretty happy as well. Food came out and - wow, big helpings. The tri tips were perfectly cooked with a nice smokiness. Hashbrowns were crispy and hot. Eggs, well they were eggs ;-) cooked the way I ordered - over easy. The biscuit was large! Nicely browned, crumbly and chewy soft on the inside. The gravy was rich and peppery. They went great together! Overall, great, tasty and filling meal. I'll be coming back for dinner and some hopefully fine smoked meats!

Had the prime rib special. Heard the microwave being used quite a bit in the back. The sweet corn had a bunch of onions and peppers in it, so not what i was expecting. Everything was under seasoned. The apple tart was tasty but there were seeds in mine and my wifes had a big apple stem in it. I would like to go back and try the breakfast but for the price this place was very lackluster.

First. They don’t do BBQ until 3 PM on weekends. That’s was a huge bummer. My $13 burger didn’t come with fries or a side. Which I understand that’s the new norm. But I got a side salad that was about the six tablespoons of lettuce. It was $4. Overall I got a mediocre burger a baby side salad and no bbq. I will update my review when I can actually try the bbq.

I love me some ribs! I came here thinking that I could have some baby back ribs on a Saturday afternoon, but was very disappointed when they came back and said they didn't have any ready. What kind of smokehouse doesn't have baby back ribs ready for their customers on a Saturday at around 1? They even have a pig on a shirt they sell as a mascot. The ribs I had weren't good, my wife's were fatty. I make better ones. As for the service it was polite, but we had a medium wait time. The food coming out of the kitchen looked fantastic. The side dishes were okay, the salad was above par. I would say if you want some ribs maybe call in advance, get take out and go to the dam and have a picnic.

Walking in the door.....the restaurant did not smell good. We waited a good 10 minutes for a server to take our order. Another 10 min. To get waters. Our food took 40 minutes to get to our table. The server kept saying our order was " being worked on" or " up next". I started watching and the cook was filling call in orders " to go" before doing dine in orders. There were only 5 tables occupied inside. This is the 3rd and last time I'll eat there. The food is average. The service is average. The atmosphere tense. No more for me.

The food was delicious! Good service and a nice atmosphere. I did not feel the pricing for some of the food was unreasonable. I ordered a summer chicken salad for $14.95 and asked for a boiled egg to be added. The upcharge was $2.50 for a boiled egg. That's a steep upcharge for a boiled egg. Then I asked for a loaded baked potato with brisket and it was $15.95. There might have been 2 tbsp of finely diced brisket on the potato. For $15.95 that potato was not loaded. I did ask the server about the charges, he seemed to feel it was a fair price.

Took a break for lunch and they took 45 min of that to bring us the food which like others have said was sub par. Meaning the chicken fried steak was pathetic, frozen probably and flat as a pancake, gravy not my favorite and the soda tasted funny. I was hoping for this to be s cool spot to come visit but we were disappointed. Friendly people and all but a little more effort on quality like a freshly made chicken fried steak would bring me back. Maybe their smoked food would have been better to order I don't know. But it's a unique spot so I hope the best but can't give but two stars for what we experienced. Also they could update their hours here on this platform would help also.

Came here on a Saturday around noon with a party of 4 and we waited over an hour for our food when there was 3 tables besides ours. Wait staff was very friendly. Food was incredibly greasy. I ordered a tuna melt and the bread was soaked to the core and when the food got to me the lettuce and tomato were soaked in grease and floppy. Not impressed. Prices were also pretty insane

Absolutely terrible service, worth the read! We walked in(two of us), tables were full so we said we will sit outside. The young server said okay "ill follow you out with menus". We wait outside for 10 minutes, a group of 7 comes and they sit outside next to us. They get menus, waters, and order drinks, we still haven't even been acknowledged! Finally about 15 minutes total waiting there I said excuse me but can we get menus. She stared at us and said she didn't see us... weird. So we get menus. Another 10 minutes before she's back to our table to get drinks, takes my drink order then takes off as my girlfriend started speaking. 6 minutes later I get my beer and we order. Takes 15 minutes to get a plate of tri tip nachos. Meat was extremely bland, we asked for ranch and napkins. Wait 10 minutes so finally we go inside to get them and she made a rude remark. By now the place was empty so there's no excuse to being busy. All in all, this place was a total let down. Very rude and poor service. The food wasn't good. I've never not left a tip, ever, this was a first for me. I will never be back.

The young Waitress that runs the front off the house does a Excellent job. She does everything in the front of house all by her self! The kitchen cooks with no love or passion. Food was overcooked, aju sauce on a French dip was separated and tastes bland and nasty. The salmon was spicy and Superdry overcooked, and the potato salad is stated that it is homemade, but it's definitely store-bought. The cook just has no love for cooking it shows in his food. Atmosphere in the restaurant is unique beautiful.But it was definitely way too hot in there. It was cooler outside than in the restaurant. Don't know if their new split system isn't working properly or if they don't have it on. But it was at least eighty two degrees in that restaurant! The only one that is working with passion in the restaurant is the young waitress that actually could use 1 more person to help her during dinner rush!

I've been here many times and it's always been great, but I won't be going back. I recommend not stopping by right before or at 8pm. They close at 8:30 and made me feel really uncomfortable ordering. I've had businesses in the past and would never make a customer feel uncomfortable that they need to hurry and leave. You take care of your customers with much appreciation. As for the food, my favorite is a smokehouse sandwich. It was a huge disappointment to get some meat on a bun. Plain, not much flavor, the bun was supposed to be sourdough and had no taste. $15.95 not worth it. I'll go to Maxwell's next time for their dip. It also comes with tater tots, salad, or fries, which I added tots to my sandwich order and was extra $ at Old Mill. The 2 stars are for the waitress, I did leave a tip for her. It wasn't her fault the leader in the kitchen did his passive aggressive behavior. When you have a business, you make every customer feel welcomed. I used to recommend this place to family and friends and won't anymore.

If I could go negative 50 stars I would. We came here on a saturday afternoon. 12:30 pm. We drove in from out of town! They had nothing to eat! They were sold out of ALL bbq. Which is what you come here for. They said sold out, but their pit wasn't even on. They just hadn't made any. So you're open until 5pm, its a saturday and you dont have half your menu! Angry is an understatement. Edit: Since Im not able to reply to the owners response, let me update my claim. You were not busy, at all. With only two other tables with people at them (this was lunch time). I am a TX BBQ chef, and I know very well when BBQ pits have been working hard even if earlier in the day. It stays warm for hours, the smell stays in the air all day. Yours was cold as a stone and no smell what so ever. Meaning your bbq, if you had any at all that morning, was made on a different day and warmed up.
