Three words: Bagel breakfast sandwich. I’m fairly new to the area and discovered this spot around the corner from my place and have to admit I was surprised to find these tasty hole-less bagels. This spot gets busy (especially on the weekends) but the good news is that you can call in an order. If you haven’t been yet, you should and don’t forget to try one of the sandwiches!
Thus place has been here forever but they are still some of the best bagel sandwiches in town!!!! They are getting a little bit expensive, but it's worth it.
Dining area is clean and the staff are friendly. Food was really good.
The people that work there seem very nice and they are all very polite. The bagels are so different there. They are VERY flavorful and VERY delicious! They're prices are very reasonable.
First time here, passed by while on route to a job, and honestly will come back if I'm ever in the area. Great bagels ! Partner and I , we ordered a croissant with sausage and cheese, and a plain bagel and cream cheese. Both were great. No photos because we ate it all. Lol
Best bagels and food in general. Simi's hidden gem. Definitely go here early for breakfast. You can even have them custom make you one or more for pick up next day. I love the sun dried tomato and basil. I also love the staff. The nice woman that owns the store is always so kind to me and everyone. :) makes my day!
I love this place! I stop in for breakfast once or twice a week. I'm a big fan of the Western basic. Huge servings of fluffy eggs, big thick cuts of bacon, and of course, great bagels!
Gourmet bagels, delicious breakfast sandwiches. I recommend the jalapeno cheese bagel. The blueberry bagel with cream cheese is like pie! Small storefront with room for 10 to sit inside and a couple tables and chairs out front. You can order online with doordash. Closed on Sundays.
Always the BEST bagels, EVER!! And very friendly service. Orders are always correct! Been going for years. Riding there on a Saturday afternoon for a great bagel sandwich lunch type thing. Just makes the day!
The bagels are simply awesome, but add their amazing sandwiches. So good. My teenage kids asks for John's all the time. My only complaint is their time they close, but I suppose that's normal for a bagel place. :)
This is a fabulous bagel deli!!! The bagels are generously sized, fresh, and tantalizing in flavor. Also, the people are very friendly. If ever in Simi Valley or Moorpark, check them out!
My first satisfying visit to a Korean Deli. I think they got lost looking for Times Square, where the best delis are found. She's a bit spicy and fiesty like a strong Korean woman performance can be. Just ask for a side of kimchi.
One of our go to spots in town. Discovered this place out of the blue. Our favorites all the time is cheddar onion bagel with strawberry or blueberry cream cheese. So delicious. It’s our 1x a month place to go to. Very much worth it. We want to try their bagel sandwiches next time but we’ve come here at least 6-7 x in the last 2 years.
Very impressed with the FRESHNESS of these Bagels!! They are so delicious! Really enjoy ordering a big box for my office. It’s the hit of any morning meeting. But what really separates this place from the rest is their bagel sandwiches which are ULTRA DELICIOUS too! My wife and I enjoy their breakfast bagels the most. Highly recommend to try their ... SOUTH OF THE BORDER - nice and cheesy with a slight extra kick with the jalapeño bagel GARDEN SPECIAL #7 has a great combination of flavors too
Some of the best and most unique bagels in the area. The stuffed bagels make my day every day I get to have them. This place is small with not carry much seating so dont expect to have a table, but if your able to get one I would recommend hanging out there as the environment is a very nice feeling for those tired mornings. Coffee is alright, I wouldn't go for a cup of coffee, but for a bagel, definitely worth a detour
Love this place! The bagels are BIG and don't have holes which is different. They don't cook with a lot of salt which can be good or bad depending on what you like. Personally, I appreciate it. The items are a little pricey but think about what you're getting. These bagels are made fresh and everything is prepared right there. Plus it's a small business and they have bills too. They also make their own cream cheese in plain and other flavors. There is always a line in the morning but they try to serve everyone as soon as they can in a friendly manner. Personally, I recommend this place.
The bagels are so good and big. We got everything bagels, cheese and jalapeño(bigger than the other and really good) and plain with their cinnamon cream cheese. Highly recommend 👌
SO GOOD. Bagels are huge and such good quality. I love the north of the border on a cheddar cheese bagel for a savory choice or a chocolate chip bagel toasted with butter or a plain bagel with strawberry cream cheese for more of a sweet choice. Can’t go wrong with anything here
Delicious and freshly baked bagels. Great place to get breakfast for family and coworkers. We especially like the blueberry and everything bagels!
First time here, and bagels are really good. Nice and friendly service and easy to order, you pick a menu item then choose the bagel of your choice. If your in the area give it a try. I got the Pepperoni Pizza bagel and the Turkey Delight
Honestly the best Bagel Deli anywhere in the Simi and Thousand Oaks area. The BLT is my favorite with a little added Turkey on a Jalapeño and Jack Cheese bagel.
Had the Western bagel sandwich on a wheat bagel and it was amazing! The bagels are huge and heavy. Very filling meaning you will probably skip lunch that day!
Amazing bagels! My sons and I fav bagel spot! Fresh soft bagels and full of flavor. They pack the bagels with plenty of meet.
Bagels with no holes 🤔 I’m here for it lol! It was yummy!

I stopped here on a whim this morning to get a bagel. I was amazed by it! I got jalapeno cheese bagel toasted with butter. When it was handed to me, it was HEAVY! This bagel was thick on the cheese and toasted to perfection. I ate it while driving to work, so I didn't try and take a picture, but it had just the right amount of spice and the cheese pull on it was perfect! They had a bagel there - the jalapeno sausage - that was the size of a small pizza that I might try next time but I'm slightly afraid I would fall into a bread coma! Highly recommend the breakfast sandwiches looked good too I might try one next time
Always delicious. Usually takes a while to make it so I recommend calling your order in ahead of time. Other than that, JUST YUM !! and their sausage Jalapeno bagel is very spicy but I love it 🤤
Delicious. On our list of places to go to while visiting from out of town. My wife swears by the everything bagel sandwich that she used to buy while we lived there. I love the everything and chocolate bagels. Atmosphere is nothing special, but what do you expect for a bagel shop. Love this place.
One of the best places to get bagels! Lots of options for different bagels, love the jalapeno and cheese. They also have different flavored cream cheeses. Their bagel sandwiches are delicious, I love that they offer sprouts. Last time I got the lox and it was perfect.
I have to shout out my local spot. I went to John's for the first time yesterday and I ordered the California and the New Yorker bagels. Both were absolutely incredible. They make their bagles fresh in house, they have a lot of variety and everyone greets you with a smile and a great recommendation!
I just came from John's the lady there I talked to her. She's the owner. She's very nice. I got lots of different flavor, bagels some with cheese, some with jalapeno and cheese some with garlic. They still were warm. I was there at about 6:45 a.m. so they had just finished cooking them. I brought him to work for our team. Everybody love them. They had cream cheese with jalapeno. They had cream cheese with honey and cinnamon. They had all kinds of different cream cheese.
Breakfast spot for a cheap bagel. They don't have the traditional hole in the middle bagels, but you can tell it was fresh(made the same day).
The bagels here are absolutely the best I’ve had. I’m not really a bagel fan but this place has turned me into one. I’ve been here twice in the last week and will definitely return. They have a variety of different cream cheeses you can choose from. It’s a cute little shop. The cashier had great customer service. 10/10 would recommend!

Nice little bagel shop with good service and food. A couple of curious things is that they serve bagels without holes. Despite this, they're consistently cooked and chewy. Second is a personal thing but their "New Yorker" is a lox & cream cheese sandwich with tomato, onion, capers and sprouts. I've never seen sprouts on a bagel with lox in NYC or anywhere else for that matter, so be advised. But please do give this place a try when you're in the area.
I like this place but I feel that once the old owner sold it, the food isn’t as fresh and it doesn’t taste the same. The food is good if your in a pinch and want something but if your getting a sandwich it is not quick, be prepared to wait for a while.
Really awesome bagel shop. I Enjoy getting the western bagel sandwich. The bagels are huge and quite tasty. If I had one complaint, it would be that when they flipped the screen around asking for a tip they don’t even give you time to select if you want a receipt or not before swinging it back around once you hit the tip button or not.
I may very well be biased having only previously had bagels from NY, but these were pretty good. They were almost like a chiabotta-bagel combination. The blueberry bagel had more blueberries mixed inside then I expected, which was a very pleasant surprise. Overall delicious, and I'd certainly go back again, but I'm not giving 5 stars because it didn't seem like a typical "bagel" therefore my expectations had to be modified. Overall recommended though!
Really nice place, fresh, good customer service. Seems popular with locals. But these are not really bagels, something closer to a roll. They are huge, taste good, generous with the cream cheese, but if you are looking to scratch your bagel itch, this place will not do it. I suspect they are best for sandwiches. This is primarily take out place with just a couple tables.

While delicious, I am stunned nobody has commented on the lack of cleanliness. Ants in the soda machine. Generally dirty. I love the (not) bagels, but can't bring myself to go there anymore 😢
Placed my order online. I realize I made a mistake on my order. When I went to pickup they said I couldn't change my order. So got my order. Good thing I checked before I drove away. I was missing all the different cream cheeses I paid for. Have to say I do enjoy there bagels 🥯
Happened to be passing through this area and was looking for a relatively easy family breakfast. Decided to pop into John's Bagels figuring bagel sandwiches would be quick and painless. Ordering was easy, and the menu was impressive. We ordered 4 sandwiches and waited. Although all the items at this place feel a bit expensive, I will say that they seem generous with their fillings, so I suppose it makes it feel a bit more like a decent value. Where I will disagree is that what they make are bagels. #1, they have no hole (which I realize makes for better sandwiches), #2 I wondered if they actually were Bialy's rather than Bagels. The exterior texture of all our bagels didn't have that snap, and the bread inside seemed much denser than you'd want from a typical bagel. I know we're in SoCal and can't expect to find NYC style bagels, but for a shop that does so well otherwise, I'd encourage them to either boil the bagels longer, or just call the items Bialy's to remove confusion. Additionally, when 'toasting' the bagels, a few of ours were outright burnt, which was disappointing, but we had already left to ask about having them remade.

Food was good but these aren’t bagels they are buns and I really wanted a bagel.

I cannot agree that these are even bagels let alone good bagels... way too thick and dry/hard... maybe they sold me some old ones... I went Saturday morning I assume they were fresh... got plain and onion, no taste difference between the two other than some onion sprinkle on one... very disappointing... service was ok I can tell alot of locals visit and the employees like to talk rather than work... first and only visit
This was a miss for me. "Bagels" are more like ciabatta rolls - big, bready, dense. Yeah, they don't have holes, but the unbagel-like texture was more of an issue for me than not having a hole. I got two cheese bagels w/ cream cheese and was pretty surprised when my total was over ten bucks. It was a solid piece of bread but didn't really satisfy the bagel craving, especially for the price. The shop itself is a bit shabby and run down. I wasn't impressed - I'd rather have Western bagel or - don't be angry with me - even a Starbucks bagel. Meh. Won't be back.
I thought that this was a deli, but turns out it is just a bakery. The bagels are huge, but no taste. I always buy onion bagels so they should have some flavor. I also had an issue getting this to fit into the toaster. Burned it and set off smoke alarms. Sorry, but I won't go back.
Craving Cheddar Bagels & spent a lot on 3! Got home to see big rolls stuffed w/cheese. WTH Trashed 1/2! Not what i wanted. They weren’t even in the glass so i never saw them! So disappointed ugh!
Bagels taste good but every time I go here I end up with wrong order just make sure to check your order before leaving and save yourself trip back.
I wanted to like John's Bagels, but I won't be going back there. I went in for the first time and was surprised to learn that their “bagels” had no holes in the center and were more like rolls with a bit of topping. I was surprised to see that a dozen bagels came to over $30! Over the next few days, I tried the “bagels”. They were just OK, and certainly not worth $3.45 each for some of them. They were so expensive… I guess the owner really “kneads the dough.”
Won’t ever eat here again. Which is a bummer since I’ve been eating here since high school when the original owners were still there. Second time we’ve had to go back to return bagels or cream cheese for finding hair in both. This time going back though they weren’t so nice. Didn’t offer a refund or replacement and were so short and rude.
